'Swipe to open' gesture a bit sticky... - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

I find the 'Swipe to open' gesture problematic, with 2 or 3 attempts needed to get into the phone on occasions. Is it possible to make the gesture more sensitive or even have it deleted? I'd be grateful for any practical suggestions .....

I don't have this sort of problem but if you're using a screen protector have you increased screen sensitivity?
Settings» Display» touch sensitivity

Yes, using the screen protector that was installed by Samsung..

I can confirm the same behavior without a screen protector and with the screen sensitivity at maximum. I have enabled face recognition and fingerprints and the device unlocks itself with no problem, but still I have to swipe to remove the lock screen. There are times I have to swipe 2 or 3 times. I didn't find any solution to this problem.

I think it would sort of help if state what variant you're using to help identify if it's random problem or if it's only on specific variants. At least 2 of you have the issue so far
So what if you disable security does the problem persist? It most likely is an app interfering with the lock screen

When you mention variant, are you talking about my 855?

Yeah, snapdragon or Exynos. Released in Asia, Europe or USA etc.
Mostly Exynos = battery issues
Asia, Europe = some network but mostly battery issues
USA = random issues it seems

I have the 10+ international version, SM-N975F, Exynos 9 cpu. I didn't try to disable biometrics, but I also do not see how these would influence the swipe action/sensitivity. I swipe to unlock screen after beeing recognized by the biometrics, so they should not make any difference.

With face recognition on disable stay on lock screen setting. That obviates the requirement to swipe follow the unlock

[Q] Does installing custom ROM fix screen sensitivity on tab pro 8.4?

I haven't seen a post about this from searching. Was curious if installing CM or slim (preferred as I've been using on SGS3 for a while) would fix the screen sensitivity issue on my tab pro 8.4 running stock. I'm hesitant to upgrade to ND3 after hearing about reboots but would like to resolve this sensitivity issue ASAP.
I'm on ND3 and haven't had 1 reboot. My screen sensitivity is also fine. No phantom touches or double letters. I have a UK model.

I have a Canadian model. Did your tablet come with ND3 on it or did you upgrade recently? If you upgraded, were there problems with the previous version? I'm curious if the screen sensitivity issue is region specific with respect to different builds or more likely, slightly different firmwares from different regions. Samsung canada has not released an ND3 build yet. I'm still on NA1.

I upgraded to ND3 on the day of purchase so didn't really test it with the previous version. I then performed a factory reset. I don't usually perform a factory reset after an upgrade, but I hadn't customised it, so wasn't any hassle.

Lift to Wake

Is there lift to wake for ambient display like the Nexus 5X and 6P had? Can't seem to locate it.

I believe Ambient Display provides that.
There are a number of ambient display apps. They have different styles so you can choose which one you might like.
Not what he asked and at this time, sorry no it's not enabled. They must have failed it in pwm tests. They said they are working on it for a future release supposedly. I'm guessing once they get the sensors to stay alive without amping up the CPU cycles.

Do you have a source for where they said they're working on it? I thought it was just a design choice.

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) - More Than 5 Fingerprints?

Hi,
A few days ago, I bought a new Samsung Galaxy A5, 2017 edition.
I really like that it has a fingerprint sensor, but I would like to have more then just 3 fingerprints in there.
Is that possible? I've searched on google, but I can only find a guide for S5, which doesn't seems to
apply for the A5.
It would really be awesome if I could add at least 4 fingerprints - both thumbs and both index fingers.
You guys' help would be much appreciated.
Cheers!
It's a bit annoying but you can use more than just 3 fingers in those 3 fingerprin profiles until a solution is found. I added 4 fingers into those 3 fingerprints and it works fine for me.

Wow, that actually works! Thanks! I even feel like the multifinger fingerprint works better than the other two that a base on a single finger.

I've just checked and it still only allows you to add 3 fingerprints. Once you add 3, there's no add button any more.
Can you provide a way or a guide or even a screenshot? But it must be from and A5 2017, not some other Galaxy model.

If you add fingerprint... scan your fingers as many as you can until 100% scan.... example 0-25% thumb then middle 25-50% :good:

Hey guys i bought the new 8.1 today and i see some problems. I'm just gonna list em just tell me if its there or is there any fixes for those!?
1) Ambient brightness is broke,
2) switching theme to dark doesn't work!
3) display turns off during a call as usual, not turning on while taking it off my ear
4) swiping to other apps hang for a second like 2 times in 50

Use BSG ports. Because BSG using MI 8 and both Mi 8 and Nokia 8.1 have same camera sensors in my knowledge. I am using latest BSG port for Mi 8 in my N 8.1 and everything works fine.

It could be just my eyes but I think he was touching 6T a tad bit earlier. Also I absolutely despise the FP sensor in than A50 but apparently there has already been a firmware update in India(? or South Asia in general). In the video you linked, it appears to be still on the 1st Feb update. For now I'm using the face unlock option which is quite fast and waiting for the FP update in coming weeks.
From the fingerprint I am very disappointed. The next day my fingerprint didn't work. I Had to set it up again. Unreliable and slow. I Had a Blackberry key one Black edition. There was a fingerprint of 100%. Samsung A50 is not reliable...

The Fingerprint is not good as I expected.
Itseems that after the update fingerprint performance is little slow.
Oneplus 6t can not be compared to Galaxy A50. almost 50% of price difference is there. So, be gentle a bit about phone and comparison. A50 is definitely slow but hope that samsung will fix it soon.
Meanwhile, Either use face unlock (which is quite fast) or just the pattern.
Now at ASC7. Latest update for now. Though they wrote that fixed fingerprint in this update, but nothing positive happened. Fingerprint is such terrible, as before. Probably it is hardware shortage. Have to use face unlock instead of fingerprint
Yup fingerprint sensing is garbage coz the under display camera is garbage. there's a reason this phone is so cheap.

FP is total crap. The rest is pretty nice at this price tag. Back camera is far above my wishes - i do not expect it to be at DLSR level ( as some do ). Front camera - I do not care.
btw the face unlock is super fast(turn off swipe to unlock after face detected in settings). pity it's not an IR sensor so doesn't work at night but i've set the phone to be unlocked when connected to my pebble smartwatch(smart unlock) anyways so that's not an issue for me.

From my personal experience, a dirty fix would be to turn off the face unlock and rely only on FP to unlock your device. Been doing it for two days now and the FP unlock feels much faster. With the March update and both FP and face unlock, trying to unlock with my FP always took like 3-4 tries, now it always unlocks in first try with FP ever since I have deleted my recognized face.
I'm using only FP and just to confirm it's slow and garbage even with March update. 3-4 continuous times unlocking like a charm but after that, next 4-5 times dont unlocking. Pretty weird if i can say. Isn't it?

Face Unlock works with eyes closed and at a very wide angle even with Faster Recognition switched off, basically making the phone accessible to anyone while you are sleeping.
Smart Unlock using wearable ends up allowing the phone to be switched off without entering the pin or pattern. This implies that a stolen phone wouldn't be trackable while also making the phone easily accessible when placed on a table.
For some, the lower level of security wouldn't matter but the fingerprint sensor is the best option in terms of security and it is disappointing that Samsung fluffed it. I am using it with a tempered glass and am able to get the best performance by re-registering regularly using my regular grip. Even then, there is the occasional failure and the speed is simply not up to scratch compared to capacitive sensors.

hey guys : here is a simple trick to get best out of the fingerprint scanner.
1. Register 1 finger,
2. Add the same finger again
3. For the third time do the same.
Now the speed maybe as earlier but the accuracy will never fail. So bye bye to the No match error.
Hope this helps..!

Accuracy isn't that much of a problem if the fingerprint is added at the correct angles but the speed definitely is. Moreover, people are likely to use the phone single handedly with either hands in which case a single finger addition is a huge inconvenience. I use either of my thumbs based on the holding hand as well as my index finger when the phone is on a flat surface where using a thumb is ridiculous.
