The Galaxy Note 10+ was my first android device in several years. I bought it to play with, intending to return it, and was immediately hooked and sold my iPhone instead. The feature that really sealed the deal for me was the screen mirroring in the MS "Your Phone" app. Yesterday I "upgraded" to the Galaxy Fold, only to discover that the screen mirroring I was so excited by only works on the Note 10+! I'm keeping the fold.. my old eyes just love the size of this device- but I'd really like to have that feature back. Anyone know of another answer that would allow me to use my desktop monitor / mouse / keyboard when I'm at the desk? You think they'll support the fold in future?
I hope they bring this feature to the Fold, I am baffled that it's lacking in the first place. I'd even settle for Dex if that were available.
Working here
The "Your phone app" is working fine here. Might try it again.

The app works, it just doesn't include the screen mirroring feature, that's what I'm lamenting. Or are you saying that's working with your Fold? Could you post a screenshot of that?
Sorry. just photo, messages and notifications here. not screen mirroring
You can do it with Samsung's own Sidesync app. I used to use it with my Note 8. It works flawlessly. Try it.
https://www.samsung.com/us/sidesync/
Install on both your Fold and your windows desktop.

Thank you! Sidesync didn't work well at all, but the installation on the windows side mentioned that it was being replaced by Samsung Flow, which I didn't know about at all. Flow works perfectly, so my issue is solved.
Thanks again.

Has anyone tried the S beam on this? I may be handing down my S III to someone where using this might be worthwhile.
I did the settings on both phone to enable it, but have not been able to get them linked to transfer files. I have tried going both ways and get a popup of touch to transfer but it disappears fast and nothing is transferred. i had read that it is supposed to first ask permission to connect, but this does not pop up on either device.
I am wondering if in typical Samsung fashion, have they made the two devices S beams incompatible (like they did with Android beam)?

to use S-beam, both devices must have S-beam and wifi enabled, which means they both must be samsung devices (S3, note II for example). you then have to go to an app that supports sharing via NFC such as a picture from your gallery. after you touch phones you have to hold it there then tap and wait until it prompts you to separate the phone; i'm guessing this is the step that's being done wrong. if you separate too early the connection will never be established.

I have encountered the prompt to separate a few times, and I do so slowly (also been using stock gallery pictures) and still no transfer.
This took me a few rries with my new Note2's. Touch the backs, touch the image to transfer, and separate when it says to. Works pretty decent. Even cooler is photoshare. The wife and I went on a safari today and took about a hundred photos between the two of us and we both have all of them on both our devices. Badass Samsung!

What I am asking is does it work with other devices and not just two of the same? I would like to be able to do what you did with a Note 2 and Galaxy S III

My roommate has an S III and I have a note II. We are able to use S beam, but like I said, we needed to hold the phones there, tap, and wait for a prompt to say it's okay to separate the phones. Initially, we failed to beam because we were separating too early. Maybe you should also make sure you both have nfc/sbeam turned on as well as wifi?
Tried the Nfc with a Motorola razor maxx hd and it opens the play store on his phone every time I try to send a file... Why??

sounds like you're trying to send something from an app that he doesn't have. if i try to send my roommate a note from s-note, it will open the play store for him as it doesn't know how to negotiate the file. also note that i dont think you can send large files via nfc, i couldn't even send a picture.
Nfc transfer works with Nexus 7, fyi
Tmobile SGH-T889 using xda premium.
I do not have a SIM in my S III (It is in my note 2 now), but NFC and wifi transfer should not be affected.
I have carefully done all the settings on both devices and the few times I have gotten the "touch the image to transfer", I separated slowly when it said to and have yet to get a transfer. I was only trying to transfer one photo from the gallery. Tried it both ways.
Update. I realized I had the Perseus kernel installed so I flashed over it and now S beam works.
Update 2 - working fine with S 3 on a leaked LI8 ROM. Official JB S 3 update came out, and it is broken at S 3 end now - WTF.
Question - there is no S beam apk, so which apk is it included in?
I am using:
Galaxy Tab S 10.1 (SM-T800)
TMobile S5: Stock rooted late May build, Xposed is installed, Knox apps are disabled (about all the possible relevant things I can think of)
So I fire up Sidesync 3.0 on both devices to try out this much touted feature. I get connected just fine, but I cannot operate the phone's touchscreen at all from the tablet. There's just no response. However, the menu/home/back virtual buttons do work.
A search has turned up empty, which included trying one of the level one script readers from Samsung support. They literally had no information about tablet to s5 connections.
Disabled my exchange administrator thinking it's some security lockdown on my phone, but nope... removed my account, rebooted, didn't fix it. I'm out of ideas.
I figure this is the place to ask. I'm figuring I'm right.

All I can offer is to say that I had no trouble with my Verizon GS5 and my Tab S 10.5 (not 10.1). I controlled it a little yesterday evening. Even made a call through it from my tablet. I tend to keep my phone up on the bar and my tablet with me on the couch so I have sidesync on the phone all evening.

After some searching around I have found I am not the only one. I was very hopeful a minute ago when I found I didn't have the latest version installed on the S5, but it didn't resolve the issue.
I got this resolved. The issue was with the S5, not the tablet. I needed to install the June S5 update. Ran into a snag where I couldn't install the OTA, so, it was time to bite the bullet and flash a recovery and ROM. Did TWRP + BeansTown's stock rooted (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2789850)
...and now it all works. A full restore from titanium and I'm right back in business, now with working SideSync!
I am planning to buy a new phone, pocophone f1 is an option, but I don't know if the galaxy watch will work properly with it. Any one has experience with pairing it to pocophone or other non Samsung phones? Thanks.
Mine is paired to an Honor 8 Pro. It paired right out of the box with no problems. Works much better than my old Moto 360 2nd Gen. I don't have Samsung Pay but I don't care about that.

I used my former S3 with a former Honor 8 and had no problem with notifications or downloading apps from Galaxy store. I wouldn't expect problems with the Galaxy.
Has anyone had their watch receive calls and your phone never rings and then when you turn your watch off phone calls go right to voicemail?

If phone is not rooted, bootloader locked, and so play store device status is certified :
You can download and install galaxy gear app, from which you'll be able to pair and manage the galaxy watch.
It's what i done on my oneplus 5 : unrooted, re-locked. Everything works. As a non samsung phone owner, the only things that do not are :
- samsung pay
- integrated tizen email app
Or you can download the apk from apkmirror and use it with root. That's what I'm doing now. Samsung pay may or may not work, I don't use it so I don't know.
You need Samsung accessory service, the galaxy gear plugin and the galaxy wearble app. Mine works flawlessly with a custom ROM with xposed, rooted.

Can you download them without rooting, or must I root the phone?
You can do it without root but you need to enable the install from unknown sources option
they have a modded Samsung store to stop that root check they have magisk mods to hide root
I can confirm that this works on non-samsung devices. I get everything pushed to my watch from my phone as long as I have the notification for the app enabled at the time. The only issues I see with the Samsung Pay is if you don't have the app installed on your phone due to the fact that it uses NFC to make the transaction now so as long as your phone supports NFC you can use Samsung Pay as well. If not then you can use the ported version of Google Pay, but I wouldn't personally recommended due to the fact that it is ran by a third-party developer. As for root, I have not seen an issue or been lock out of anything in the watch due to being rooted so I can't confirm nor deny if it is fully root functional.
Rooted pixel 2 xl and everything works as it should.
Hi Everyone.
Keen to get a cellular version of the galaxy watch (keener for a cellular version of the watch active but apparently its not coming our with a cellular version) but I have a huawei mate 9,
Can anyone tell me...
Will it work with a mate 9?
If not what functions are not active?
Does it matter if the watch is a cellular version? does it being cellular mean it can connect directly to apps and access required information.
Apologies if this has been asked before, I have gone looking but cant find any reference ..
Thanks Tony
I have a Samsung phone so I'm not certain that this is 100% the truth, just what I have read from people in here or over the galaxy watch subreddit.
It should not matter what android phone is most things will work fine just like with a Samsung phone, I've only seen people talking about some compatibility issues with iPhone.
Now about the esim..
What I've read about it is that it works as if you have the phone with Bluetooth with you, you will get all the notifications but you don't have apps on the watch.
All of the notifications will be just mirrored from the phone notifications and the apps you can get on the watch right now are really limited.
Well you have Spotify and Samsung mail but for the others you can only do the same as on the phone notifications, read most of them, answer some things but it's going to be limited, on messaging apps you can see the last 10 but once you close the notification you have to wait until you get another etc.
If you often go out to do things like some kind of sport that doesn't allow you to bring the phone or you think you could use it while doing other things, it can be worth it but it's not going to work fully as a secondary smartphone, just as a app notification center + phone.
I'm using a cellular Galaxy Watch with a Huawei P20 Pro and it works perfectly.
Cheers,
Tom.
In all honesty, since they now allow you to download/install the Galaxy Weable app on pretty much any device now, you can use it with whatever device the app will work with.
I mean, there are always limitations and whatnot, but rule of thumb, yeah, it's not locked to Samsung phones only. Hell, they even let i(cough)Phone users use it! (unlike that fruity company with their watches).
Thanks!

You may have to activate LTE on a samsung phone. S7 or newer.
I'm on a p30 pro. Panicked when I tried to activate LTE through the wearable app and it wouldn't work. Borrowed an S10, put in sim card and activated. All good now.
Works a treat with my OnePlus 8 Pro! Cheers
I'm using Galaxy Watch Active 1 and Honor 9 lite, all function on watch work well ( pairing, get whatsapp, email, SMS notification, purchasing app). And I can access galaxy store without phone (using Wifi network).

I have Galaxy Watch R800 (BT, WiFi only) and Huawei P20 PRO and I cannot make a Galaxy Store on the watch to work. Any idea?
Everyone I try to run Galaxy Store on my GW i get error. I can run galaxy store on my phone and it works. I have the same problem with Bixby. Any other app works great.
I get this error even on WiFi connection.
My advice for those who want to perfectly match the smartphone with the watch: If you own a huawei smartphone then buy a huawei watch and if you own a samsung smartphone then buy a samsung watch! Otherwise, after few updates of one or another nobody guarrantee if pair samsung/huawei/xiaomi or whatever will still work without bugs...
Hey all, just got my Note 10+ on Friday and I have an issue with Roboform password manager.
Usually, on a username/password prompt a floating Roboform icon pops up, which you tap, validate finger print, then the UN/PW fields get filled in.
Now, when the icon gets pressed, the dialogue to confirm fingerprint shows for a moment then quickly disappears. It happens in both Chrome and login pages in apps.
Has anyone experienced anything similar, or have an suggestions?
I snagged screen recordings of it happening: https://imgur.com/a/wTgSWBl
Thanks.

I opened a ticket with them too. The workaround is to go open the RoboForm App, then go back to the other app and it'll work because you are already logged in. I did notice they have updated the app today though but they still have the issue. They claim it is specific to Samsung phones and no ETA for the first but working on it. If you press the fingerprint reader at just the right time before it disappears it'll work but usually you can't do it that fast.
