Hi XDA,
My Netgear router has Dual-band support 2.4GHz & 5GHz...
I don't have problem in 2.4GHz, if the N7100 is in standby mode or in restart it will get connect automatically when the system resumed...
In 5GHz mode it is connecting and speed is twice faster than 2.4GHz,But the problem is it is not connecting automatically when the system resumed from (standby or restarts)... i have checked all the WiFi policies in N7100 but no use.. am getting same Issue when i tried with different 5GHz routers....:crying:
am also am using iPhone5 its working fine in 5GHz mode...
Think XDA will solve my issue soon:angel:
Thanks in advance..

Can any one help?
My N7100 is not connecting automatically to 5GHz WiFi router
i have similar issue with a tp-link tl-wdr4300 router, so it must be some phone limitation. i would also like a solution to that if it's possible.

I have the same problem and 3 firmwares have gone by and still the problem exists. Connecting to the 5ghz manually works but turning from off to on, the n7100 does not auto connect to the saved 5ghz wifi. I am using an Apple Airport Extreme at 5ghz-only mode.
Published spec includes 5GHz:
WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 & 5 GHz), Wi-Fi HT40
I have netgear dual band too, but I cant test this because I set all the radios in my netgear plus my powerline extender to the same SSID so the phone can roam between them transparently.
5Ghz has a too short range for me unless I sit in the same room.
Is this related to the "wifi bug" that so many users report, in several threads?
You know, when wifi speed decreases to ridiculous levels, as soon as phone
goes into "sleep mode" (AKA as soon as the screen goes black). In that case
welcome to the club. I've been waiting for a fix since end of January, when we
all were "blessed" with the 4.1.2 fw. I don't think Sammy gives a s**t anymore.
With a revenue of about $8.3 million, I guess they don't care to give a f**k....
If the wifi problems aren't solved with the 4.2.2, this is my last Sammy.
The Note 2 definitely supports 5ghz 11n, but range is quite limited, due to the nature of 5ghz. I've found it only picks up channels < 48, regardless of which region it's set to. Setting a static IP speeds up resume from sleep at times.
I was facing same problem as u mention, repeatedly i gave for repair to authorised service centre & finally they replaced a board, now wifi is works like charm.

Thanx alot! That was news to all of us, I think!
It's strange though, that the problem on my phone
only appeared AFTER the 4.1.2 fw was installed.
Perhaps I should just pass it over to the service
guys, instead of waiting another month(s)....
Anyway, mucho obligado for the info!
Of course it was not easy,I was keep flashing different country stock rom in hop may now they fix the issue, when given first & second time to service centre, they kept my mobile for 3 to 4 days & return me saying no problem found,I am regular reader of XDA so aware of SDS also, I was feeling like cheated by samsung, carrying sick mobile all the time since I have Insane cheap also, but finally they replaced motherboard with sane cheap & one more board for Wifi issue.
Is this issue not the same like the roaming bug? My N 7105 has got both.
I solved it on n7105 with the latest firmware. It now roams smoothly on wifi and it prefers 5 ghz close to the router, at -40 db.
I have no internet access on one certain wifi router (asus rt-ac66u), with my n7 lte, although I can access the internet on other routers and through the dataa connection, I can access my router management though. I did a factory reset of the router and that solved the problem temporarily but the problem came back. Just switching router/tablet on/off doesn't solve the problem
edit: well after turning on/off the n7 wifi worked but now data doesn't work when I disable wifi

If flashing the latest firmware doesn't help. You can try and change the wireless mode of your router. Log into mgmt. Navigate to your wireless settings, change "wireless mode" from "auto" to "N Only."
It's worth a try. What that will do is force N band only, whereas on auto when a g/b band connects the router switches to b/g mode, and that might mess with the Nexus. If the problem you encountered was fine with a factory reset temporarily, all it would take would be a "g or b" band device to log on to kill your n band and dumb down to g/b band.
It's not a bad idea if you don't have any b/g devices to turn off 'auto' anyways. The jury is still out on whether or not it actually benefits an all "N" environment, but it sure as hell won't be switching to G or B on you.
Those routers had issues with their early versions of firmware. They might have straightened it out by now. Upgrade it!

Try changing the WIFI channel used in your router. My nexus 10 had issues on certain channels especially on 5GHZ.
You may also have a Wifi region setting somewhere on your nexus. I remember seeing it before but can't find it right now. The region basically locks your nexus to (possibly) the wrong channels. IE. Not all euro channels work with american wifi channels

Help!
HELP!!
Let's divide the problem into smaller pieces - is this an N7 LTE problem or ASUS router problem?
Get another router (I use the Asus RT-N66U) and test if it works with the N7 LTE. If it does, then it's your' router.
If it does NOT work wit hth eN7 LTE, then it's your N7 LTE probably have a bad chip.
I installed the kitkat factory images and the problem still persists :crying:
Hello,
I seem to be having an issue with connecting to my 802.11ac router (Apple's Time Capsule). In "Automatic" mode, it connects to my SSID via 2.4GHz only. When I go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Advanced and choose Wi-Fi Frequency band as 5Ghz it finds 0 networks in the area.
FYI - I'm on 3.1.3 OxygenOS.
Is anyone experiencing similar issues?
Best,
Mash
Edit: To be clear, I have several devices including my laptop that are connected to the 5Ghz band. I've also used a WiFi scanner in my old S6 Edge to verify that there are SSIDs broadcasting in the 5Ghz band.
I use 5 GHz network at home and it works fine with my op3.

using 5Ghz on Fritzbox, i also use diffrent ssid names for 2,4 and 5ghz and also different passwords
Thanks guys. Are both of you on 3.1.3? I'm trying to isolate the issue here...

Got a 3TB time capsule here. OOS 3.1.3 - on automatic, it only connects to 2G despite having full 5G signal, however if i switch it to 5G only, it finds both main and guest networks in that band and connects fine Try re-flashing stock rom
Thanks - I'll try and do a nandroid backup and reflash to see if that fixes the issue.

Check what frequency and channel width your 5ghz band is set to, one time I changed my 2.4ghz and my ps4 couldn't detect it til I changed back.
Just tried 5Ghz without issue using channel widths 20Mhz, 40Mhz, and 80Mhz.

Thanks guys. I wonder if I've got a lemon.
I've just reflashed 3.1.3 and even then can't find or detect ANY 5GHz SSIDs. This is so frustrating.
I guess a call to support is the way forward.

Check if you are able to connect to a different 5GHz Network. It _might_ be an issue with the router itself.
Mine OP3 connects to 2.4 and 5 without any problems (TP-Link Archer C7).

I just got this phone yesterday and so far I just cannot get it to stay connected to my network. No other devices are having this problem. It basically just seems to constantly connect and disconnect from the wifi and also seems to constantly search for other connections as well. I've tried factory reset, cache clearing(which never works as it just red triangle error's me), reset the router, tried to change settings in phone itself but nothing seems to fix it and it's making it impossible to use at home. Anyone have any suggestions?
Same thing here. I went in and turned off all the wifi in battery power saving exclusions. Ain't been home long enough to try though.
I'm having this same issue! My prior daily (S9+) didn't have this issue, and my Pixel 2XL doesn't have this issue. I could be right next to the router and it still does this. Doesn't seem to matter if I'm at home, work, parents house, or a cafe, it still randomly loses connection. Same with my Gear S3. Just randomly loses connection. It's pretty annoying, and I hope they offer a software fix. Yes, I factory reset the phone and it still occurs.
I noticed this only with the 5 GHz band... I will contact LG about it today...
Yeah, I'm having the same issue. My router broadcasts both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz on the same SSID. Last I'd heard, Android wouldn't connect to 5 GHz in that circumstance, and my G7 appears to continue that trend.
But it still disconnects from the network all the time.
Sadly I have the same issue. I have different SSID for 2.4 and 5Ghz band, and as devil_tear says it's fails only with the 5ghz band. I did a factory reset but issue stills there.
Did you found a fix for this issue?
Had the same problem. Solved by enabling wifi on the battery saving power exclusions in the battery menu.

Thanks a lot for this tip.
Had the same problem, was burning through my 4G data at a rate much faster than on my Google Pixel.
So far, adding wifi to the power saving exclusion has seemed to fix the issue. Thank you!
PS: Does any else find the wifi signal on this phone is weak?

Great suggestion
Tried the suggestion here for adding WiFi to exclusion. WiFi on 5ghz still disconnects and reconnects every few seconds. Only way to keep it connected is putting it on 2.4ghz.
Tried the suggestion with reboots, factory reset, adding WiFi to exclusion and then connecting to the network. My g7 will just not work with it.

Have seen this also, in my case it happens when I am a bit far from the router, it may be the router not having a strong stable connection so the phone see it doesn't have internet. In the points I experience that I have a 5Ghz connection of 0-2Mb but I have maybe 2 bars of connection. Share your opinions to try to understand the problems.

For me I would say it happens more if I have 2-3 bars but nonetheless it happens even 3ft away from the router eventually. what's odd is my note 5 stays connected, my computer, and other phone stay connected on the 5ghz band. All these devices are in the same location so I'm pretty dumbfounded especially considering this is a newer phone than the note 5 lol. I hope it can be fixed with an ota update

I have the same issues. I sent back the first phone for a replacement thinking it was the issue. When the second phone arrived it was working perfectly and then it happened again.
I noticed this happened after I took whatever software update was offered. I went as far to switch providers with different equipment (fibe to cable) but same result.
Made specific 2.4ghz SSID for LG G7 and no issues.
I've never seen this happen. And my laptop and LG are using the same 5 ghz signal.
I think I remember the G6 doing this though

Just came back from my dad's house and I know it's a short test, however he has an Archer a7 connected after his dedicated provided box. I wonder if that can fix the issue?
I have the same issue.
it connects to 2.4Ghz networks fine but the range is very limited when I move to another room wifi reception decreases a lot. However my wife`s S9+ and my oneplus 6 works fine.
Main problem is when I connect to 5Ghz network it starts disconnecting and reception is even worse than 2.4Ghz. S9 and Oneplus connection is still fine at 5Ghz
I tried to change the 5ghz channels on the router but no luck and I exclude the WIFI from battery saving apps still didn`t work.
I have to use 2.4Ghz and the reception is not as good as other phones
Wifi seems stable for me, except wifi calling. That would crash at connection or even mid-call sometimes. I'd have to reboot to make or receive another call. Some sort of server error. Turned off wifi calling and no issues yet. Didn't notice Ed it anyway since 4g is really strong here.
After the newest update on my phone, taken today Oct 4th, 2018/my random WiFi disconnects haven't been happening at all on 5ghz. Also, the signal is about 3 bars larger now in the same location it used to be dropping out constantly. Hopefully it stays this way.

I was coming in to report something similar. I've got the US T-Mo version and just got the G710TM10K update yesterday.
WiFi stability has massively improved. Disconnects are almost completely nonexistent now. I haven't noticed that the signal bar is behaving any differently, but that doesn't mean a whole lot. The update was fairly large (over 400 MB), so I could see new firmware playing a role.
Could anyone still on G710TM10G post their data from Software Info to check if the baseband has been updated? Here's mine from 10K:
Android Version: 8.0.0
Android Security Patch Level: September 1, 2018
Baseband Version: MPSS.AT.4.0.c2.9-00045-SDM845_GEN_PACK-1.160685.1.163435.1
Kernel Version: 4.9.65
Build Number: OPR1.170623.032
Configuration Version: 2.350001
Software Version: G710TM10k
Security Software Version: MDF v3.1 Release 3
I bought a Poco F4 (global version, xiaomi.eu 14.0.5.0) about one month ago, I haven't had any issues with it whatsoever, save for the fact that it suddenly won't detect my 5ghz WiFi networks (my main router + a repeater) - and I'm not even sure if this is an issue with the phone itself.
I'm coming from a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, which was known to have this issue, but to have this happen on 2 different phones is really weird. If I recall correctly this issue started to affect me after I changed my ISP.
The only ways I have to detect the networks again is to go the debug mode and use the WiFi Sniffer Test Tool or reboot the phone, which was more or less the same thing I had to do on the S20 FE (I had to go turn on airplane mode try updating the firmware via debug mode).
What I've tried so far to solve this issue:
1. Changing the channel of the 5ghz WiFi
2. Changing the bandwith from 20/40/80 to 20/40
3. Setting "Use Device Mac" on the phone's network settings.
4. Turning off WiFi Scan Throttle
5. Changing the bandwith to 20
All of the above methods, save for the last one, did not work. And while it does work, it limits the speed of my internet to bellow 100mbps.
The issue is not related to the WiFi coverage as well since it only happened when I'm on my own room, which is where my router is located.
I don't know if I can detect other networks apart from my own since even when they 5ghz detection is working I can't find any of my neighbors' networks. I'm unable to create a 5ghz hotspot on my S20 FE or on my old Redmi Note 9S for some reason.
I'm at a loss on what to do, it happens on both stock and xiaomi.eu, at least and at most once per day.
If anyone else is facing the same issue or has any suggestion on what I should try next please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your input. I'll try to turn on my old router when the issue happens again. I find it odd that the issue affects both my main router and the one I use as a repeater, but everytime I made any slight change on the main router, the other one's signal almost immediately disappears to apply the changes as well, so it's probably that.

Thank you! I'm almost certain that the issue is that the bandwith isn't fixed at 80mhz, it's 20/40/80mhz, and when I had the bandwith set to 20mhz I didn't had the issue.

Thank you! It's probably related to the bandwith. I was able to turn on an old router and my phone was able to detect the 5ghz network after the bug happened and my router + repeater signal was missing.
Have you tried resetting your router to the default settings? Or maybe set a specific IP address on your phone in your home network? As said above, it is a setup issue of your network most probably..
