Currently have my M8 on a 8.1 ROM and want to upgrade to a 9.0 ROM. Was wondering which one works best for people, either the official Lineage OS or AICP one. Also saw a Resurrection Remix rom posted here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/discussion-android-pie-t3832709/page2. Not sure if anyone has tried that.
Sadly none of them ever worked decently for me, not even with many clean flashes, AICP was pretty close though.
Went with older crDroid instead, still surprised how stable and problem free it is.

Yeah, it is. I'm fine with an older rom when it's perfectly working.
All Android 9 roms seem to have an issue with random restarts.
At the moment I'm using AICP which runs very well with great battery life except for the random reboots.
The best and most stable for me was XenonHd 8.1. The developer is currently working on Android 9 builds and hopefully will have stable versions out soon.

I settled on Lineage, but I haven't experienced any random reboots. Using it occasionally for the past few days

My brother has a G3, but with LG's default 6.0.1 it's ridiculously sluggish, and hogs ram. He has the 3gb variant, and before apps are installed, it hogs almost 2gb of it. But my Mi3 which has cm13 on it, uses just 550mb. So my goal is to help find him something that isn't so bogged down with bloat and hopefully close to stock Android.
Unfortunately though, the latest cm snapshot for G3 is Lollipop, with nightly Nouget releases. He wants to stick to Marshmallow though.
So if anyone has experience flashing on this phone, have you found any super stable marshmallow roms?
Thanks

Either Fulmics ROM or cm 13
Cm 13 is stable enough to use as a daily driver. I have the cm 14.1 and it's running ever-so greatly

Alright, definitely going to look into them, thanks I've never used CM outside of snapshots though. Can you update nightlys from the phone, or do you have to keep flashing them in recovery? 14.1 sounds appealing, haven't run into any massive bugs or problems with it..?

Yes, you can download the nightlies from the phone. Cm 14.1 doesn't have much bugs, but I'd recommend waiting a few weeks, as these are the first builds being released. So, you won't see the Theme engine yet, for example. But every other feature is working very well. But cm13 is way more stable and close to perfection, so wait using the 13 version and keep checking out the cm14 changelog to see what has changed.

Hello everyone I wanted to do this test to realize which of roms based on android 7.1 is the one that best fits our device, I have tried three that are:
Resurrection- Lineage- Crdroid
Yesterday I installed a new version of the RR dated 12/2/2017 and I find it quite smooth so far no problem, but already came out the version Lineage 2/13/2017 recently. With which version nougat have felt a better performance especially in the battery?
I still go back and forth trying to get that right feel.
OctOS / Oct-N is well received and stable. Not as many goodies yet as RR/AICP/crDroid if that's important.
Tesla was one of the first full-featured ROMs I tried. It performed great though Bluetooth didn't work (still doesn't).
crDroid has been more than stable for me but not so much for others (non-D851).
Alas, I still have no real recommendations.
LG G3 D851, crDroid v2.2 N ROM, microG (NoGapps), MultiROM, Tapatalk 4.9.5

I confess that I have many doubts in continuing to test I chose to wait a few more days to see if they improve or arise new for the moment I have kept in the stock rom, any new information about it I would appreciate you to share it, thank you.
I'm searching a stable ROM, on Android 7, or 8.1, i don't really know what is the difference, but I like to custom my phone, but i need a good battery, I tried Résurrection Remix with some kernels but it don't get a good battery, but I really like this ROM, btw, I tested omni ROM and nitrogen OS but I can't custom m'y phone as I want... I dont know if somebody can help me but it will be cool.
Thanks

If you are not very particular about having bells and whistles, then I would recommend Vertex Nougat. It is very smooth, fast and very battery friendly.

Ok, thanks you, I'll check it, I got my Oneplus yersterday so I don't know if i need to flash gapps, which version I mean, same for Magisk, I have the 15.3 version, but I don't know if I can keep it
Thanks again.
P.S: I always listen music, so Resurection Remix on 8.1 was very good for me, I had the audio effector on the lockscreen, and I really liked it...

If you want Nougat - go with Paranoid Android. Never had any issues whatsoever.
When it comes to Oreo, I tried some other ROMs and Resurrection Remix is what runs the best in my opinion, on the OnePlus 3, at least.

Yes I know, but the battery is not good on it... Is it just a

Could be. I did a fresh install of RR and it's flawless. Battery life is even better than on Oxygen OS.
I can't recommend AOSP Extended when it comes to my experience though. It kept stuttering even when configuring GApps.
Nitrogen os 8.1 stock kernel. Perfect rom!
Super smooth , great batterylife and alot customizations! Love this rom
I'm using Z-Unleashed - it's probably the best ROM I've used with any phone. I can't vouch for the battery life though since I use always on display and my phone is pretty old now.

Battery life is not something you can judge by others use as it is device, locations and use dependent.
I have a N7 2013 (flo) running Android 4.3 and I want to upgrade its software to something more recent. Suggestions?

Please!
I would be keen to know this as well.. I don't really need latest Android, I don't use the tablet that much and all the apps I need are still compatible with the Stock Android Version
Having said that, I always like having the latest so I firstly installed the latest Lineage 16.0 with Pie and found the device to be too laggy.. It wasn't unusable but enough to be annoying.
So I tried Resurrection Remix and found the performance to be a lot better but still some small lag. I went back to Stock to compare and it was smooth like butter
I guess the small lag is to be expected installing a PIe ROM? If this is the case, I will stay with stock but still with TWRP and rooted with Magisk.
However, if anyone can advise that maybe another custom or original ROM with an earlier version of Android is still smooth like butter eg Oreo or Nougat then I would happily give them a try.
Cheers

My version is Lollipop
As far as I know Nougat, 14.1 is still the most stable.
Here is a link to 14.1: It was official but is now being periodically updated by JT1510365 in an unofficial release.....

I've been happiest with this one thus far: [ROM][9][Pie][Flo][Deb[UNOFFICIAL] AICP P 14.0
Pretty snappy, excellent battery life, standby lasts days, lots of extras, and SElinux can be set to enforcing without breaking anything serious (imo). I haven't had any crashes either, that's a plus.
Stock marshmallow + elemental x kernel works well for me.
I put validus on my lads nexus, it works really well, but I've recently discovered it does not allow install of unknown apps, so I am looking for something else on Oreo or above which is fast, stable, and has good battery life.
I will try the ones mentioned above and post an update.

Just go into settings and click "allow apps from unknown sources (or sth. like that)
Sent from my whyred using XDA Labs
It doesn't work, installing unknown apps is blocked by the validus developer, hence why I need a other rom, lol
I´m use stock mod for me<+ Elemental X... is most stable... and battery
Hello, i had the pixel eperience rom since 2 or 3 month, but i am studying now and i don't like the lack of smooth/ laggy in the prixel experience rom.
I use my phone only for web browsing, spotify youtube vanced, gps, gcam, messenger...but each app take a lote of time to start and this is not good,.my phone is rooter with magisk and it is realy good to have adaway ...
Which rom do you advice for a guy like me, i don t play game, i want the smoothest rom, i don t care about android version, if i have to downgrade my phone on android 6 marshmallow, no probleme for me and if for your the best is oxygen os, i will return, sory my english is not very good
Of curse I used to changed in pixel eperience 2 month ago because i found oreo and pie oxygyn os stock rom « laggy»
If the thread is not in the right oneplus 3 forum place, thank you to advice me where can i put this thread.
Thank, from Belgium
Anyone can not share his experience or send me somehere with the same ask?
I would say OOS9.0.5 is rock solid when it comes to stability when paired with custom kernel.
I was using it since it released with HDK kernel & never faced any issues.
But if you are into more features & customizations, give it a try to xtended or havoc. Both are pretty stable.
I recently switched to Havoc as I was missing few features on OOS.
Try OOS9 without any kernel
Seems to work pretty well

Thank you, i think i will try havoc because i used oos 9 since the begining of android 9, but the life battery was realy short and the ui laggy.
I heard here or on another websites skydragon and resurection remix are realy good roms ? Is it true from your experience?

Haven't tried RR pie, so I can't comment. But have used skydragon rom & it is also smooth. Waiting for update on skydragon. Till then will stick to havoc.
Hope that helps.

I am doing a backup of the application via titanium backup and my rom via the recovery in case it is fail somewhere, then I will install havoc and even what it is worth, the concern oxygen os and piexel experience ,is that the baterie is catastophic, not very fluid and I very often lose the wifi 5 ghz so obliged to fall back on the 2.4 ghz
