Asus Zenfone Go(Z00VD) bootloop & stuck at Recovery Mode.Anything to do?

Hello guys,
Im new at this forum.I visited here lots of times to get some information about Kernels,ROMs.unlocking process..vs Sorry if this thread is already opened but I have nothing to do.I visited every forum,every material that I found but I have nothing now.
First of all, I just bought my z00vd 2 weeks ago with speaker problem. I sent it warranty because of it but they sent me without fixing.I just wanted to root the phone to fix the problem.After I root my phone nothing happened.Then I just wanted to unroot it to sent it warranty again. I did something wrong.
I just type the cmd "fastboot oem lock" then I reboot the phone. It is in bootloop now. I cannot reach to the recovery mode also. When I click recovery mode its freeze with Asus logo.. I tried some other things like "fastboot erase cache" also not working in fastboot mode.It gives me an error LIKE " FAILED <remote:unkonwn command>
Do you guys have any idea about this problem? I just want to recover my phone stock mode and send to warranty again.

that cmd you used is to lock bootloader, not unroot.\

Ty for respond. 3.2 section steps are;
Turn off your Zenfone 2
Go to recovery mode
Select apply update from ADB
Connect your zenfone 2 with USB cable to your PC/laptop
Open command prompt in Windows (in the same folder where ADB is located)
Check connection by typing adb devices in the command prompt.. If connection successful there will be a list of Zenfone 2 device.
I cannot open recovery mode. That is my problem. When I click "recovery mode" phone is freezing. So any advice?

ok so you can atleast access fastboot i guess. if so, download recovery of the firmware version on phone and flash it using Adb. refer the above link.

Yep I already tried it. Fastboot is working but any of my command it gives me an error like <unknown command>

maybe you are using wrong command. download the recovery file and place it in adb folder in pc. connect phone to pc in fastboot mode and type in cmd (open from adb folder) - fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

I downloaded this. This is from Asus official web page. But there is no "recovery.img". Only the boot.img

Do you know what chipset is in this , is it mtk or what is it?
Not had a good look but you need to investigate this ?
There is a z00tg version on needrom.com.
Investigate further , mtk flash tools flashes that recovery.
If yours is the same ...
Do you have official firmware ..got a link ?
Ok ,just checked the title of the firmware you have on pc , that says tg too..
So head over to needrom.com if vs is the same firmware?

Chipset is Mediatek MT6580(ZC500TG)
Yes I need to investigate this because I need to unroot the phone and I need to wipe all data before sending to the warranty for speaker problem.

but I cannot but the official firmware via fastboot.It gives me error like "you have no permission to do this"

Flash the tg. firmware from needrom via Flash tools ..just flash the recovery on its own , do not have the preloader ticked at any time , warning

I couldn't find the correct flashtool for the ZC500TG. can you help me to find?

In a rush here but if you dload Mtk flash tools ,enter the scatter text from your own firmware, you then flash that , recovery should be in flash tools after.
No time today but your device is easily fixed for sending back but imo 6580 mtk is prob the culprit

sorry, was at work. just reached home.
download stock recovery https://mega.nz/#!yk8RUYaT!k-A8F4LqkP0ScgeiKeLuLb_VO2pdo9Jcskib3g_ue3Y
just copy it on the adb folder in your pc and flash it using cmd - fastboot flash recovery stockrecovery.img
if this worked, you can easily flash stock rom using adb sideload from recovery
If still unsuccessfull, you are left with this (Risky!)

All sorted Caghary? if so can we have a description for others cos that tg fw doesn't seem to work with the vd fw on needrom according to the comments .
? Oh and the flash tools to dl was under the fw on needrom which you would only see if logged in ,

Thank you guys for all responds. I tried everything. I did everything. Now Im totally irritating. I just gave it to the warranty and praying for motherboard replacement...

Ah well they probably just flash only takes 2 minutes , Mtk are fairly virtual easy to unbrick ..having said that if damaged sectors then probably you did the right thing .
I was only replying the other day about scammers using mtk lol where a member wanted to know before buying. Then ASUS produces a version with mtk chip hehe ...
Mtks are renowned for poor sound speaker quality and oh bugs

1) Visit htcdev.com and unlock your bootloader
-sign up as a dev, activate your email, and follow the steps
2) Download twrp from the app store. You won’t be able to run it yet but you still need it
3) Put the supersu zip file from your computer into your download folder of your phone
4) Get fastboot & adb running on your computer.
- open cmd prompt
-navigate to the fastboot/adb folder in your cmd prompt
-with your phone plugged into your computer type “adb devices”
-if it returns your device good
-now in cmd type “adb reboot downloader” (you can also do this by powering off your phone then turning your phone on by holding the down volume button and the power button at the same time.
-once you are in the downloader type “fastboot devices” in cmd
-if this returns your device good
-DO NOT GO ANY FURTHER TILL THIS IS WORKING!!!
4)Once your phone is in the rebooted downloader screen type “fastboot flash recovery <twrpDownloadFromAbove>”
-make sure you are on the downloader page and not the bootloader page
-this should end in .img
-this is a second boot screen for your phone. The first time I did this recovery wasn’t working because I was trying to fastboot on the bootloader page.
5) Now boot into recovery mode by navigating to it on your phone or using the cmd “adb reboot recovery”
-Once you are here you will see the twrp screen
6a) The way I did it is going into the twrp recovery boot and going to install and choosing the supersu.zip file I moved to my phone in step 3. After it is done reboot your phone and now you are rooted.

Hi, I've been trying to root my phone since a couple of days but I've not been able to do it. I followed your guide as well as jcase one, but the results are the same, I can't boot to recovery mode after flashing the twrp image saying "failed to boot to recovery mood. Press volume up or down to back to menu" when I choose the option from bootloader screen (which is the only place where I can find a "boot recovery" option, and using the cmd command doesn't work.

When you are in the bootloader screen does it say unlocked at the top? Also make sure you've flashed the twrp img to recovery. If it flashes correctly you should see that it starts downloading ok your phone

Yes its unlocked already, and when finish flashing its ok too

Successful Root!
Thanks I followed all of the instructions and I was able to successfully get Root on my metro pcs HTC Desire 530.
IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUE with the TWRP.img
- Make sure you have "OEM Unlocking" enabled under developer options in settings since the phone wiped when you unlocked the bootloader it probably unclicked that option and you just have to enable it again.
- Check md5sum of the TWRP image file maybe you have a corrupt file and therefore a bad flash (I use OP link it worked fine).
- When pushing the TWRP image make sure you have a good USB connection.

One thing I did do different is I downloaded and installed "Minimal ADB and Fastboot" and I also installed HTC sync manager prior to flashing the recovery

From where you install the HTC sync manager and the minimal adb?

Just got this phone an hour ago since my LG-D855 is stuck in download mode so great to see a root tread/method here will try this later

uum it hangs here and nothing happens and I know and is working because I adb devices and this phone shows up

Wait so it does or doesn't? If it doesn't I think you might have a bad stock img you might have bad stock img on your phone. Is the stock img the same on that was on the phone when you bought it?

so I get this going and now I try to highlight token text but boot loader text keeps getting highlighted to so when I paste in in to token box in HTC dev I get error saying token string not long anuf or error. Basicly when I highlight it it needs to be token start to token end but when I mark on cmd it highlights boot loader text to

You have to copy and paste it on a notepad, edit and remove the bootloader parts, recopy and place in the Htcdev box. At least that's what I came up with to get the job done.

I can't access to Download Mode, I can't flash RUU, Don't Charge, Brick Phone

Hey Guys, I did a factory reset and the phone went don't:
I can't access to Download Mode.
It doesn't charge
I Can't flash RUU (Because I can't access to the download mode)
I Can't access to the recovery.
It is stuck in this white screen.
*I tried installing the TWRP (Sucess!) , Installing boot.img (from Bad boyz ROM) (Success) but the error is still there, I can't access to the recovery neither.
It has S-OFF
It has unlock bootloader.
Any solution please?
HTC 10 Sprint version.

Do you have the android sdk installed on a PC? if so you can boot directly into the the ruu download mode without actually having to reboot into download mode.
From the bootloader screen connect your pc with usb c cable
navigate to where your sdk/platform tools hold shift and right click and choose open command prompt here
type in the command
fastboot oem rebootRUU

The thing is, the phone doesn't charge. So I tried to Run the RUU but it showed "battery below 30%" , I need at least the phone charge, But I don't know how.

you can also flash recovery from fastboot oem rebootRUU if you have a copy of twrp place it in the same folder as the platform tools and execute the command
fastboot flash recovery <nameoftherecovery>.img
then
fastboot reboot recovery
it should charge in recovery

The flash is success! But when I select "Recovery" it stuck in the HTC logo.

do you have a rom zip saved on your computer? if you do place it in the same folder as adb.
run fastboot oem rebootRUU again
once it reboots into RUU run the command
fastboot flash zip <nameofrom>.zip

It doesn't start in the RUU, it shows the same HTC logo :/

power off the phone.. Then turn it back on again holding the power button and the vol down button

Also head over to omj'S thread and down the firmware in the zip file and put that on your sdcard if you have one. It should give you the option to install from the sdcard

I really appreciate your effort and your help for this issue.
I can't access to the download mode and recovery mode neither. It always stucks on the HTC logo, I only have access to the Bootloader mode (The White Screen) that's the problem. When I tried to enter to download more or Recovery mode, it stucks in the HTC Logo :/

I had a very similar problem as OP and I was able to get my HTC 10 (unlocked NA edition) to take an RUU after following this suggestion. Specifically I got the decrypt tool here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/chef-central/android/tool-universal-htc-ruu-rom-decryption-t3382928

Root your L1 with Magisk

Update: I used Linux machine instead of Windows and the latest kernel works now.
Kernel modifications:
default.prop modified
ro.secure=0
ro.debuggable=1
Requirement:
1. Your L1
2. Installed drivers (Sony so0112 for both ADB and fastboot)
3. Your phone has to be bootloader unlocked
Warning: your phone will be wiped including DRM and there's no backup solution for Android 7
4. Magisk downloaded and installed

5. This modified kernel (sorry, I don't know how to make TWRP so no recovery at this time)

Kernel is for G3313, but it should work with other variations.
6. Working ADB
Instructions:
1. enable your phone debug options. Go to About Devices >>> Build Number and hit 7 times until you see Developers Options. Go there to enable USB Debugging and Allow OEM Unlock.
2. plug in your phone and make sure ADB is working
Code:
adb devices
If you don't see it, go to Device Manager and see whether Sony so0112 ADB driver installed. If it's working, go to 3
3. copy the modified kernel to your phone (make sure your phone USB is in file transfer mode) internal memory Downloads folder
4. install and open Magisk and install and patch boot file and locate the downloaded file.
5. locate patched kernel from internal memory /Magiskmanager/ and copy patched_boot.img and copy to your host computer.
6. go to command prompt and copy your ADB folder address and open your file explorer and copy the patched kernel there (e.g. Downloads)
7. use this command to go to fastboot mode

adb reboot fastboot
If you never unlock the bootloader, you have to write down your phone IMEI and go to https://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/ and follow the instruction.
8. if your bootloader unlocked, enter the following command
Code:
fastboot flash boot
and drag the patched kernel and press enter.
9. enter
Code:
fastboot reboot
10. once you're back to the system, enter Magisk Manager again to check boot status. You may be prompted to install a module for Safety Net.
11. your phone is rooted. Done

Magisk is a zip how install anyidea?

You have to run Magisk Manager to patch the modified kernel, and flash the patched kernel using fasrboot command

It's pretty straightforward.
After the installation, copy the downloaded boot image to your phone and let Magisk get the zip and patch your image file.
Once the image patched, copy the patched image back to host computer and flash in fastboot.

I have checked and I found it cannot read SIM.
You can flash back to 100% stock using flashtool. There's a problem with kernel and probably something is missing.

I will upload new boot image. This time I did it in Linux (Ubuntu) platform instead of Windows. It tested on mine and SIM is working now.

Don't try with G3311!!
I tried this with my G3311 and it put it into a boot loop (couldn't even turn device off or enter flash/fastboot mode) I had to take out the battery and replug it just to get into flash mode so I could restore to official Software
This will most likely work for everyone else that had a bootloop after trying this :good:

Which kernel did you use?
You should try with the one before patched with Magisk, and let Magisk patch it for you, and flash that one patched by yours.
There may be something going wrong during the process while I read he has no problem (with reception) and you got bootloop.

I realised where I went wrong it's was all my mistake so my last post was incorrect I used Sony Mobile Flasher to unlock bootloader instead of enabling it in developer settings and then flashed my device with your latest update you commented earlier and it's finally worked :victory:

I have to hold volume up while inserting USB to enter fastboot (confirmed by Blue led)
When I executed fastboot code and drag images file over I get an error about unknown directory or it'll just rerun the fastboot help screen

Try what I did and download Sony Mobile Flasher and press the 'BLU' (Bootloader unlock) button just to make sure your boot loader really is unlocked or maybe you just enabled OEM unlock in Dev settings but didn't use the tool mentioned above to correctly unlock the bootloader. If that's not the case then did you flash the latest boot image that has been posted in the comments by OP

It isn't just "fastboot oem unlock". Instead, you have to enter fastboot command as directed with given unlocked code.

Mingkee is right but I just used Sony Mobile Flasher to unlock bootloader instead works just as well with the click of a button

Actually, I won't end from here.
Since I have set up a dedicated Linux machine, I will try to go further to make recovery.

Error while flashing twrp from PC

I am getting this error everytime I try to flash twrp using the fastboot commands. I used the proper flashing commands on my Redmi Note 5 pro. Bootloader is also unlocked. Adb and minimal drivers are installed as well. Please help.

Yes. My bootloader is unlocked. So oem is also ticked. I'll try using this software. Do you have the proper steps for it?

type fastboot devices and see if it shows a device
maybe try using anothar usb port on laptop
if fastboot devices is not showing anything, its coz adb and fastboot drivers are not installed properly, are u using a windows 10 laptop??? they tend to give some problems while installing drivers.. google up and u will find ways

I had the same issue. Its coz windows 10 driver issues. I tried the same method in a windows 7 pc and it worked.

i used this toolkit and it does not recognise my device in fastboot mode. it recognises that the device is in fastboot. but shows no device found. When i tried installing the adb files. it showed 0 files copied. maybe thats why it is. any solution to the 0 files copied thing

It's OK not to show device name in the toolkit if the toolkit only shows fastboot as green color that means you device has been recognized and you don't have to install adb driver again so now you just need to click on the button Recovery Flash and a new box will appear and then check my second Pic file and find the twrp file and flash it, it's very simple
And I have done this method for my Redmi Note 5 AI(China)

Same thing happened with me. I can't even flash anything via fastboot. I updated from 8.4.25 to 8.5.2 global beta on my Redmi Note 5 Pro and this happened.
Also, I noticed that if I try to flash anything from MiFlash, the phone would disconnect itself even if I would flash from CMD.
After disconnecting from itself, the screen stays on fastboot and immediately a text appears "Press any key to shut down" on the top left corner.
Now I'm on Miui 9.2.4.0 Global Stable flashed through EDL mode still the fastboot is broken
confused what the heck happened! Tried reinstalling all drivers but no luck.
p.s In the image I was just testing the flashing state using userdata.img and twrp files

I Also faced these issues Many time in Adb
Here is the solution
Copy the boot img. Of your phone's rom
(If u r on Official nought then use that's boot img.
If on any other rom use the img. Of other rom )
And paste it to Adb folder where U pasted twrp
Then use command
That will work 100%

Easiest solution is to go with linux!
You can make this even form freshly created ubuntu live USB drive. Just go in terminal, install adb and fastboot and voila, no need for "drivers", here You work in "native" environment!
Then, agin in terminal go with:
sudo fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
or for ROM flashing, when You are in recovery, activate sideload option an again in terminal go with:
sudo adb sideload rom.zip
That's it!
Works every time!

How do I get the boot image ? I have the recovery and the fastboot file of 9.2.4. where do I find the boot.img? also My device is currently on 9.2.7 so will it work if i used the boot.img of 9.2.4. Both are NOUGHAT
