Strange Battery Drain - Guru Opinion Needed - Huawei Mate 20 X Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I got my phone yesterday. But I've noticed my battery draining a bit. So far I got the following turned off: bt, wifi, data, location. Airplane mode is turned on. I disabled several apps and switched to dark mode. I got 86% batt. Last charge was 11 hours ago. I've played asphalt 9 for just 4 minutes, played yt for 10 minutes, browsed the net for 20 minutes and checked my email. Thats it!
On my samsung a70 I get 4 days without a charge. So why in gods name if I havent used the mate 20X intensely do I have 86% when I should have like 94% batt????
.

Appreciate the reply. The A chip has nothing to do with it. Considering the features I turned off from what I said in my last reply, the phone should be able to save batt. I'll give it a few days as a test to see.
BTW what's your batt profile and sot? How many days do you go without a charge? Are you a light or heavy user.?

I'm a light user. I last charged on Sunday night (5 days ago) and I currently have 30% battery left.

Hi gtchs,
As a light user what do you do daily to achieve this batt stat?

Galaxy Note II GT-N7100 battery problem

Hi guys, I just got my galaxy note II for like 2 weeks ago. And i've noticed a problem about my phone.
My galaxy note II will drain the battery for like more than 20% ( 20%-25% ) while its in idle. Which means after i fully charged my phone, i unplugged the charger and i used it for awhile more like it was left 92% before i slept. Then the next day when i woke up i noticed that my phone's battery drained about 20++%, it became 79% (i slept for 8-9 hours). I didnt leave it with wifi on. I just left it with 3G & power saving on!!!! This is a serious problem, i mean how is it possible to drain for 20% just for around 9 hours of sleep.
And one more question, how long does your galaxy note II battery last after a full charge with you playing checking the phone for message once for almost every 20 mins?
Normally i woke up around 9am for work and by the time i reach home at night around 12am. It still has around 30% of battery. But today, this strange thing happened. I unplugged my phone around 9.30 am. Starting of the day was okay, it was normal. But right after it was reduced to 60%, the battery started to drain faster. By 8.30am it was already left 25%.
:crying:
GUYS HELP PLEASE!!! AS IM NEW HERE. REALLY REALLY NEED A SUGGESTION ABOUT WHAT TO DO TO MY PHONE.

Yes the battery does drain even as you sleep. Keeping 3G on actually drains more than Wifi. So if you really want to preserve your battery overnight, turn off your mobile data totally. It is somewhat an annoyance that you can't choose between 2G/3G like you do with iPhone. If you still want that connectivity, leave wifi on instead of mobile data.Give it a try for one night and see how it goes.
Are you using any power saving apps?

I just tried again last night and it drains from 100% to 81% from 8 hours of sleep? Is it really normal?
I am using this app callee "cpu spy". Over 8 hours of state time. Only 5 and a half hour my phone is actually in deep sleep. 200mhz for almost nearly 2 hours. And the rest go to 1000mhz and 1400mhz. Do you understand what it means? I dont. Can you please explain?
And im not using any battery saving app. Any suggestions?

You can change between 2g and 3g.
More settings > mobile network. GSM is 2g and wcdma is 3g.

Terrible battery life.

Hi,
I have a note 7 and for the past couple days the battery has been abysmal. Averaging 3 hours of screen on time. Also, the phone constantly gets hot (especially outside) that it has to lower maximum brightness to keep the device from overheating. With the phone on standby, overnight with always on display OFF, I will drain 10% of the battery.
Do any other note 7 users get this? I even drained 5% typing this post.
Go into settings-->drvicr maintenance-->battery then app monitor to save power

I dont have this problem. Battery life is pretty solid for me. Getting more on screen time then my iphone 6s plus!
Same here, I'm at less than 2 hours SOT and at 32% left. That and keyboard lag issues have me kind of unimpressed so far. At least I have a 14 day return policy. I'll have to see how it lasts during this work week.
Sounds like faulty units. I'm at 6 and a half hours of screen on time and 35% battery life remaining, on a snapdragon model. No battery saving features active, WiFi, location services, Bluetooth, AOD, everything on. Even watched a movie at 100% brightness to see how it'd affect the battery life. Phone stayed pretty cool although out.

That's the opposite for me. My 6S Plus gets >5 hours of SOT, the note gets 3< hours.
Sounds like I've got a defective unit. Congrats Samsung Quality Control.
I get around 5h sot time but i also have bluetooth on and a few other things. I'm pretty happy
Right now I am at 5h 46m SOT and have 16% battery left. Not fantastic like the moto z force, but much better than my S7e I dumped after a couple weeks because of the horrible android OS battery drain.

Here's my battery life. I've had the phone since Thursday. It's close to what I got on my iPhone 6 Plus. This was with light gaming, Facebook, texting, Facebook Messenger, Reddit and Tapatalk. Not bad if you ask me. My brightness is on auto, I do use the iris scanner and the screen is in cinema mode.
PS: I'm on AT&T with the SD820.

Replace it sounds like a dud. I get 5 6 hours sot. I went 20 hours 30 minutes from a 100percent charge at 1am to having 23 percent left at 9pm. 5 hour sot. Another poster says he got 8 hours sot. By using the medium power save mode.

100 to 23% in 20hrs while the phone was into deep sleep? that sounds like a faulty unit

I actually have had much better battery life than my S7E. Its odd but I think the slight revision of Touch wiz fixed some things. I also put Facebook and Messenger to sleep because they are the absolute worst at battery consumption.
Its worth stating that in week one, the phone is still cache prioritizing, cleaning up its IOPS etc. Not worth measuring for a while. But I am skeptical because My S7E was great for a while too. Its the sammy curse. Eventually you just have to factory reset to get your phone back.
Sounds like you need to reset your phone and start again

I'm not having this issue at all. I navigated for 2+ hours with the screen at full brightness and didn't burn up that much battery. I wasn't tracking it but if things dont get better for you, I'd say try swapping it out for a new one. You might have a physical issue with your battery.

Battery usage

My battery stats have improved greatly by turning off location completely.
Took it off charge at 6am and with heavy usage
YouTube internet calls etc
still have 65% 16.5 hrs later.:good:
Just starting to play with battery use on my new G5. 100% charged 10 hours ago just before bed.
On a day to day basis i am a pretty light user. Calls and texts mainly.
Left phone unpluggged so it slept and 7 1/2 hours layer its at 93%.
20 mins music and email checking 19 hours in its at 88%.
Have Greenified much in the way of apps which i think improved things. Compared to the Sony i had the G5 seems to have ok battery life.
Its certainly in the useful, full day and better range.

Is yours rooted? I tend to get 5+ hours screen on time sometimes 7 which is amazing for a phone this cheap.
Same here, I have about 4-5 hours of screen on time with greenify, non-rooted. I'm a regular user, messenger, emailing, browsing, spotify etc. I'm also using Adguard which has its impact on the battery but a small price compared to having ads all over the place

Nope, no root as yet. And actually i may not depending on what ROMS become available in the future. Pretty happy with the way this is setting up and Android 7.0 stock. I think i may well leave it unrooted until after Android O hits and see where i go from there.
i'm rooted and the battery is very good, i got 7,5 hours SOT, usually i have 5-6 H of calls and 3H of SOT, 2 sims active, wifi and 4g always on, and the battery is 20-25% when i put on charging from evening to the morning. Very happy with this battery

Very good battery for price of the handset
I don´t know it´s a isolated case, but since i bought the phone, the battery is pretty bad, yesterday i tried to charge with another power adapter and my battery it´s lasting longer, anyone have this same problem?
Sometimes this happens to me.
When i keep my phone overnight(Battery Saver ON) even wid a charge of 60-70%, next day mrng, the battery is completely drained and phone is OFF. This doesnt happen daily, happens only sometimes. Any guesses why dis happens?

Is the battery life normal or is this a serious problem?

I've a brand new Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite, but since a few days I notice that it seems that the battery is draining fast.
So I've done a test: I've charged my phone to 100% and used it until it turned off due to too low battery and it lasted 23 hours and 3 minutes.
But I doubt if this is normal and I'm kinda worried about it.
I've bluetooth off, and wifi is always on except when I go outside and then I use mobile data.
I use my phone for surfing, using social media, chatting, gaming, making nice pics and more.
So is the battery life normal or is this a serious problem?
is 23hr bad ? I feel like my one is always above 80% as it charges that fast I don't seem to notice the battery being low

I dunno
I haven't mentioned the standby time and the active time in the topic, and I cannot find that data anymore so that means I have to do the test again
I would advise to install AccuBattery app, fully charge the phone and look at screen off and screen on power consumption at the end of the day.
These numbers are "normal":
Screen off - no activity (over night or phone just laying down for a few hours): 0.2-0.3%/h
Screen off - the usual daily activity (moving around with the phone in the pocket, Whatsapp for web active, Google location tracking active etc.): up to 1.3%/h
Screen on - about 7-9%/h
I'll do another test on Friday as I said.
I'll charge the phone to 100% and use it until the phone turns itself off due to low battery and look at the active time then.
I'll post the results here if the test is done.
What were the results?

Today I've redone the test.

I got an active time of 5 hours and 27 minutes and the standby time is 18 hours and 1 minute

My phone is pretty new and I am using it more frequently these days. This leads to similar battery times like you describe them.
I did not do the exact same discharging like you did, but imo battery drains mainly during screen-on time. Over night it is quite stable and only slowly discharging.
Maybe power consumption is dominated by the LED screen? This might be the reason why Xiaomi has such an aggressive screen dimming implemented...
I think what _mysiak_ is describing above, is pretty accurate and explains what you are observing.

Unless your trying to calibrate the battery that's really stressful to the battery to use it like that.
Puts a lot of wear on it... fast.

I know that, and I used to do that all the time but when I received my new phone I changed my habits.
I'm now trying to keep my battery level between 90% and 40% or 30%.
