Honestly not sure if anyone else feels this way so I'm curious what the rest of the At&t Note 4 community has to say...specifically on this...I mean two very important sensors got replaced for a fingerprint sensor and a heartbeat monitor that when you have a case on both are hard to use like it becomes pointless...which I think they are both too early in development to actually lose a humidity and temp sensor which alot of apps like to grab ahold of and becomes kind of important...the restriction is killer almost like I don't want it anymore honestly no root locked bootloader...can't do that for as long as I have been let alone alot longer...the camera has alot of gimmicks in it but does have a little better camera itself just think the software is horrible...I will say the pixel difference is there though and the screen is wonderful...it does have the lastest snapdragon which i like its the only reason why I still wanna hold it honestly...the battery is like a huge noticeable difference it decays alot faster then the three did and the phone does warm up alot more I think it has alot to do with the snapdragon the screen and the software layout like there is a lot of white when there doesn't need to be and the teal menu &!*# kills me I can't stand it there are alot of s5 layouts and even apps on here that they tried to hide but don't even work almost like they ported the s5 to the note 4 with minor changes it sucks ...but is that worth it over the note 3 I replaced it with I don't think it is....it think maybe a tmobile version of this phone would be worth replacing my at&t note 3 maybe thats a maybe its like they just through something together and sent it out because apple has a new i phone they need to compete with but it needs work i think it got put out to early...but this is definitely not worth it...just my opinion I'm curious what others feel...if it was a loss or a gain...

I am coming from the Note 3 and I am loving the 4. The screen is amazing, I find battery life even better that the 3. Definitely more responsive with the 805 Snapdragon. I have the Ringke Slim case which allows me to still use the heart monitor with no issues. I find the fingerprint sensor to be a nice option. I personally don't mind the teal settings menu since I just don't interact that much with the menu. I also really liked the Note 3
I always believed that somebody who own a Galaxy Note should wait at least two year period for upgraded.
Hardware jump is not as impressive as the Note 3 and quite frankly, Samsung is really becoming insistent that the better value of the device is it ecosystem and built-in app.
So any one who are still owning a Note 3, don't feel the rush to upgrading, you are fin at least until Note 5 has something better to offer.
2.5D glass makes the device a dream to use when swiping from the edges of the display.I went from the note 2 to the M7 to the Note 3 to the M8 to the Note 4 and I think it's worth it but I'm a early adopter/ enthusiast type of guy
Both phones are great and indeed very similar, but the Note 4 just kills it on camera which blows it out of the park.
Battery life for me has been better with Note 4 ever since I killed the bloatware (compared to N3).
Seriously though, the camera... It's not even about pixel count at all, it's the optical image stabilization and wider field of view... Incredibly more capable as a walk-around point 'n shoot. The glass seems to capture a sharper and wider image. This has nothing to do with pixel count. Numbers only tell you so much... Image quality tells you everything
IMO, it depends. My Note 3 running DynamicKat was pretty much just as fast as the Note 4, plus I had all the other benefits of being rooted. Honestly, I've been using the Note 4 since it came out but I find a reason I missed my Note 3 everyday......
EXCEPT! IMO, the "Quick Charge" is the biggest reason to get the Note 4. I'm no longer caring about my battery life. Seriously, I LOVE that feature.
I came from the note 3, and love the note 4. I will, however, return this one, and buy the t-mobile one. That way I can root.

Here's the Note 3 sensors...
Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, gesture, temperature, humidity
And the Note 4's...
Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, gesture, UV, heart rate, SpO2 (blood oxygen)
So UV, heart rate, and blood oxygen replaced temperature and humidity. I'd guess how "very important" the swap is depends on individual use cases. Out of curiosity, how did the loss of temperature and humidity sensors impact what you do with your phone?

It's the new "normal." Look what Google themselves is doing with 5.0. Two years ago I'd say about 75% of my circle of friends and associates rooted their phones. Today it's about 25%. Anyone connecting to a company network can't use a "tampered" phone. And it's not a physical restriction, it's the security document you sign that says using a tampered device to connect to the company network is an instant terminable offense. So T-Mobile doesn't lock their bootloaders (they don't do a lot of national account business either) but that's going to become the exception not the rule. I haven't been able to use a rooted device in over a year based on the networks I need to connect to.
The camera has alot of gimmicks in it but does have a little better camera itself just think the software is horrible...

You're pretty much alone in your opinion. You give up nothing from the Note 3 and gain a lot. And that's according to people on the forum and reviewers.

Set up exactly like my Note 3, I'm getting 25-35% better battery life on my Note 4. So are a lot of other people here.
The phone does warm up alot more I think it has alot to do with the snapdragon

When doing what? I haven't noticed any difference in heat output; at least the way I use my phone.

The Note 3's over a year old and so is its interface. The SGS5 is six months old and was Samsung's first effort to streamline and flatten TW and move to a more contemporary UX design and colors. The Note 4's s/w looks far more modern and has much better stock app integration than the Note 3's. I think you'll find it hard to find people that want to go back to a UX design that was already dated when the N3 launched. UI and UX design is also subjective.
Battery is better than GN3. It has to be some bloat were, if you have a poor battery life, an Index Service bug, for example. GN4 is substantially faster not only based on the CPU speed, but also on a faster memory controller. Definitely better and faster camera, brighter screen for outdoor use.
I got the Note 4, for me the upgrade was worth it including the other sensors. I would defiantly upgrade if you have the option through the Next program, if you're going to have to pay retail, not worth it.
I was rooted on my Note 3, but I have disabled all AT&T apps and have the exact same setup with Nova Prime on my Note 4. Hands down, this is a better device in terms of screen, camera, and for me most importantly BATTERY LIFE! My Note 3 was running stock rom with root because I have AT&T versions. The biggest eater of my battery life was Android Wear with my Moto 360. It literally sucked the life out of my Note 3 where it would only last barely a day - it was pretty bad. Also, I've owned every Note since the first one came out. I had a black Note 1 and people were shocked by how big it was when it first came out. I then got a white Note 2 (I truly loved this phone - it was rooted with the best rom = CLEANROM). The white Note 3 that replaced it was decent. Now, I'm back to all black with a Ringke Slim Black Soft Feel case. The battery life just doesn't seem to want to drop at all, lol. Even the stock pull down doesn't bother me as others have said. I still have it pretty customized using light manager and Textra, etc. I used Helium to restore all my app data perfectly. I highly recommend the Note 4. However, like others have noted, it's probably best to get the Tmobile version if you have the money and root it and use it on AT&T. The only reason I stuck with AT&T is because my friend has a hook up (I got my phone really early) and the amount just factors into my bill through the Next program so it's cheaper overall.
I was heading towards the Nexus 6 but with the debacle today I think I will go for the note 4. Your comments were very helpful.

I went from the Note 2 to the Note 4, and honestly, I would still call this an incremental upgrade. That's not a knock on the phone, merely an observation on the state of the technology in this category.
The screen is much better, but the speed increases are negligible, the software is not significantly improved, the stylus actually feels cheaper and a step back though I have not used it enough to make a call on functionality. I did not spend any time with the Note 3, but this is actually (IMO) less comfortable to hold vs the Note 2 due to the "squared" design.
I was skeptical of upgrading, but I had numerous hardware issues after two years with the Note 2 that really forced my hand into upgrading now. If you're OK with your Note 2 or 3, then pocket the cash or donate a portion to me and wait for the next big thing. Wow. That was not intentional.
I was thinking about passing note 4 cuz I had a Note 3 (rooted) . The screen is amazing and my battery is absurdly insane awesome on the note 4 . I'm a moderate user to heavy use and haven't got battery below 75 % . I'm impressed !

These are all things that I consider more than just marginal improvements over my Note 3. I honestly never thought I would be using touchwiz. I'm the guy that automatically goes and installs nova prime without batting an eye. I'm going two week strong on touchwiz and loving it. The spen integration is improved. I like the new wrinkles around being able to manipulate windows and apps in bubbles and such. I pledged for root because the one thing that I don't like on stock is the fact that I have no real control over how cluttered my notification area gets up top. Give me root with wanam exposed and I am one happy camper.
It may be gimmicky bit I like being able to gauge my stress level. I measured my stress level and my wife's at the same time one evening. We had both just gotten home from work. She was clearly stressed while I had what I thought was a low stress day. The measurement was on point. This phone is making me utilize s-health more than ever before and I like that. I run a lot and count calories so it comes in handy.
All things considered, rooted or not, this is one helluva piece of technology.

it's the rounded edges of the glass,yes
It is probably worth the upgrade but not until Note 4 has root. I couldn't give up my custom roms

Also coming from the Note 3... And I'm still on it.
Note 4 is in its box until the wifi issue is fixed. Any B, G, N network speed is horrible. AC Seems fine though but I travel a lot and AC is new and expensive, no where is going to have it so its unacceptable for me.
Its really not an upgrade, its like getting an iPhone 4 S from a 4 or a 5 S from a 5. Yeah the cameras are a bit better, but that's about it in all honesty. Hating Kit Kat.

How did you kill the bloatware if not Rooted?
Is there any way to remove the phone short cut from the lock screen?
I'm suffering from constant "butt dialing" while phone is in my pocket.
Would enabling fingerprint scanner help?

As a side note, if you want the convenience of just swiping, consider using the Smart Lock feature so that it won't require your fingerprints when at home or any other place you set.

Wifey has the note 4 and she loves it, the 4 is too much phone for me and my pocket (size wise).

I setup 4 different fingerprint samples and have it working pretty good.
So far no pocket dialing. Profit.

I just wish that there was a way for smart lock to just go straight through the lock screen. When I pull out my phone I press the hardware button to wake it up and then keep it there to use the fingerprint scanner. When a trusted device is connected I have to reach up and swipe and half the time the screen shuts back off before I can do it. I'm lazy and I want one way into my phone. As it is, the trusted device unlocking is more hassle than it's worth.
I might upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy S9 in November and wanna know how many edge screens one can have at a time? I might consider using this. One of the reason behind the decision to upgrade to the S9 (possible, might have to get the S8) was I was considering the LG G6 but I heard about Boot Loop which occurs mainly on the G and V series and I don't fancy having no phone. Besides, Samsung has loads of features going for the S8 and S9.

I use 5 but have 13 more available that it will let me choose so at least 18. It may be unlimited but I couldn't say for sure.

I came from an Honor 8 and have mostly been happy with it. The curved screen has been a learning experience along with the fingerprint sensor location. I usually end up with a smudged camera lens at least 3 or times a day.

No not really, it has a cutout that's supposed to guide your finger to the sensor but I was used to the Honor's sensor being located by itself. I tend to slide my finger over the sensor to the lens from time to time. Then when I do take the rare photo it reminds me that the lens is blurry and I may need to clean it.
Hello. I’ve been looking to upgrade to the Note 10+ and a lot of you see to hate it. Should I be worried? Should I look in another direction? I am looking for a beast phone where the battery can hold for a full day, good camera and big screen. What options do I have?
Especially if you are coming from note 9, you are going to miss headphone jack, iris scanner and heart rate /SpO2 sensor.
Apart from that you might face trouble playing m4a files through Samsung Music app.
That's what I don't like about my note 10+. Other than that love everything else.

believe me you don't go wrong i forget every phone i had use before mi9t and pocof1 and huawei mate 10 pro and note8 and mi mix and every phone before now i use note 10 plus exynos and I don't lesson to any one every thing is excellent battery performance camera and quality
What is your mobile device now? If u have phone which is 2 years old or older, every new phone is the beast. Note 10 is perfect one, ofc. there are few negative staffs, just like the positive one. But you know, everything has this negative and positive part. I'm using Samsung since Galaxy S9, then Note 9 and now Note 10+ and for reason. I was Apple user, but then I realized, that Apple isn't like years ago, when Keynote event was my second christmas and new iPhone was something special. Today I have Note, so I have phone with a big beautiful screen, lot of power, I can have a PC and lot of other things. So, few negatives: battery life, problems with Google backup, no notification LED (you can use AOD notify, and everything is perfect), that fingerprint senzor is something like Russian roulette, it's 50/50, but after few updates, it's getting better. Maybe there not 3,5mm Jack, but I'm using wireless buds, so who cares. For me, the biggest problem is that battery life.. I'm from Europe, so I have Exynos chip and if u using phone for work, few videos, mails, it's not even full day of the using, so am charging through the day. This is all I think. You need to know, what is the best for you, but Note 10 is not a bad choice.

A lot of people complain about battery life, but for me, on the 'Exynos' variant, it's great, most days I end up with about 20% battery and 6 plus hours SOT.
The games I play perform well, productivity is a breeze with the massive screen, S pen and 'DeX'.
You can customise it to your hearts content, cavernous and speedy storage, great cameras, great connectivity.
What you need to understand is that most people on these forums aren't your average consumer, therefore expectations are likely higher, the same is true of other device forums. So you'll find people *****ing on the 'OnePlus', 'Sony', 'Nokia'....... forums about those devices and possibly conclude that they hate their devices too.
The truth of the matter is that these forums exist in the main, for people to seek advice on issues they're facing with their devices, which can lead to a perception of negativity.

I have been switching around from Samsung to iPhone. I am looking for a device that I can use to its full potential for the long run. I will not be using the Samsung Music App since I use either YouTube or Soundcloud for music.

I am currently using the iPhone X 256GB Verizon Unlocked due to the better hardware that the iPhone provided out of all the carriers. I am close to owning it to 2 years now. I too felt the same way about the keynotes from Apple, they were so awesome and always waited on the new and big devices but now? MEH. I am an IT person and just want something I can use on a daily basis that can do more than the iPhone. What exactly is so bad about the battery on the Note 10+? Also, if I do go with the Note 10+, what version should I get? Im asking more in depth about chip differences.

Can you elaborate more on the Exynos? I don't quiet know what it is.
There's nothing wrong with the Note 10 + in my opinion except for the fingerprint scanner is small and a little slow but everything else seems good. It's also not even close to being worth $1100 to me. I alternate each week between my OnePlus 7 Pro and Note 10 + and there isn't that much difference between the two in day to day use. If I were you I'd try and get one that was lightly used for around $800-850 or wait till the price drops. I got mine from eBay for $899 (SM-N9750/DS model) and it has been good so far but it's definitely not head and shoulders above other flagships and the screen is brighter on my OnePlus 7 Pro.

Look.. If you are looking for daily phone, you can keep your IP X. You know, I'm using phone for almost all day, because of work and all these staffs, so battery life is max 1 day, but I'm sales representative, so I'm different kind of user. But if you just REALLY NEED new daily phone, go for it. Note is very special device, with tons of useful features. If you really looking for upgrade and IP 11 is not your favorite, Note is perfect choice.

Seen that you are coming from IPhone x, you won't miss anything apart from the timely software updates. However Samsung has become pretty good with android security updates these days.
You will be happy with note 10 unless you are an apple fan.

Get the Snapdragon US version unless you're a fanatic about custom ROMs and unlocked bootloaders.
This phone blows the iPhone X out of the water (mostly iOS gets blown away by One UI/Android 9). You can actually multi-task like crazy. Unparalleled screen. Amazing everything. Best phone I've ever used, hands down.
And this does WAY more than the iPhone! DeX, customization, automation, split screen, minimized apps, widgets wherever (Android), etc. It's not even a fair comparison in my opinion because iOS is so restrictive.
So I just picked up 2 Note10+5Gs from T-Mobile which are on Android 10.
Coming from a OnePlus6T running A10 I had A10 gesture on any Launcher, but on the Note I loose gestures as soon as I switch launchers and set it to default, it will keep gestures as long as is not set to default. The moment I use recents the phone switch back to TouchWiz or whatever is called now.
So here comes the Q.
Is there any way to keep native gestures on a non-stock Launcher? I'm not afraid of adb but not an expert in any way.
To the People who might ask "why did you get a Samsung if you don't like the skin?" Or "if you wanted a pixel why didn't you get one?" I have to say that the hardware is always awesome and cutting edge, their skin is Meh at best. Icons are super girly in my opinion and the themes suck, again, in my opinion.

I'm using Nova launcher on my Note 10+ and didn't lose any of the gestures. Not sure what you're observing. Also, if you want to have the same behaviour as Android 10, download "One Hand Operation +" from the Galaxy App Store (part of the Good Lock power tools for Galaxy devices). You can then configure edge swipes to do what you want. I have it configured as back, recent apps and previous app switching depending on the length and direction of swipe. In fact, it's more powerful than Android native gestures so it's best of both worlds.
So, to kinda add to what has been posted here, there's a way to make any Launcher work with Native Samsung Gestures in A10 but involves adb.

This is what I mean:
So first on the top left to the last one.
1. Have One UI selected as default
2, 3, 4. Switch to A10/Samsung Screen Gestures
5. Select my new Launcher.
6. Get a message that nav was changed.
7. Then the option to get gestures is not available, more like a gesture-like nav bar.
I've read some more and apparently it's not even possible but I had up until this morning A10 on my OnePlus6T running a Pixel Launcher (modded) with A10 gestures which were exactly the same as the Samsung Gestures. So, I've had this phone for 3 days and already had several BT disconnections while standing literally 2 feet (61 cm) away from the other device and now this Launcher crap. I absolutely hate Bixby and the fact that you can't disable any Samsung apps.
Very interesting. Is this an official release of Android 10 because I don't think Android 10 is out for the Note 10+ devices. If you're running a beta you really ought to go back to official. Feels silly to say this but you can't harp on a device if you're running unreleased software.

I would not dismiss my point though still. With no official One UI 2.0 for any other Note 10 series devices, you may be dealing with some early adopter woes. Android Pie certainly does not have any limitations on the Note 10+, as I have already pointed out. I would be patient and wait until Android 10 rolls out to other Note 10 series devices before judging things. As it stands right now unfortunately, few folks will be able to help you. Basically nobody has Android 10 on their Note 10 series devices.

To the People who might ask "why did you get a Samsung if you don't like the skin?" Or "if you wanted a pixel why didn't you get one?" I have to say that the hardware is always awesome and cutting edge, their skin is Meh at best. Icons are super girly in my opinion and the themes suck, again, in my opinion.

One of the things I've found within the first couple days of using this phone is that gestures are locked to Samsung's launcher, particularly the recent apps gesture. I do not want to use the Samsung launcher but is forced to because it has to keep running in the background in order to have this gesture (is a waste of resources to have 2 launchers running at the same time).
I read somewhere that Google will take this away from them in the next OS update.
About bixby, you will have to use an app blocker if you don't use it or don't want I running in the background. I use package disabler pro (bought from their website not from the app store), you can also use ccswe. But package disabler pro can disable all and every app, ccswe cannot do this in order for them to stay in the play store.
I've been a devoted Note user since the Note 2, upgrade pretty much day 1 on every release but I've found. I've noticed that Samsung has been slowly taking away some feature while locking others. They've lied about screen size/real-estate, battery, removing and locking the ability to track battery usage. I honestly feeling this will be my last Note device until Samsung start doing the right things again.
It's funny to see how different folks react to things in a different way. In my opinion, the Note 10+ is not only the best Note device Samsung produced to date, but the best device Samsung produced to date, period. I have had prior Note devices as well, either because I've owned them or had an opportunity to use them and the Note 10+ to me feels and functions as well as the Note 7 did for its time. We all know what happened to the 7 unfortunately and what followed the next two years was absolute crap. Samsung was conservative because they were scared. Note 10+ returned to what made the Note series great - huge screen, big battery life, beefy specs. I have the S10+ and the Note 10+ is a far better, and significantly better performing device. This despite the fact that they are built on the same basic platform. I am yet to find a flaw on it, but I see plenty on the S10+. Not sure if something is different about the 5G device or whether the software is just really that immature to lead to the dissatisfaction you are describing.

Me exact thoughts! I've had almost every note made as well as the S10 e, S10 plus. The note 10 plus I have is way better than the S10 plus period.
I guess there's no discussion about how good Note10+ is over every other Note before it, is good to clear that out.
Now, here's the deal, I'm not a fan of any brand of any product, I'm almost picky about the food I buy and clothing, sure. I had a Galaxy S2, then S5. And then a Nexus 6, the best phone by far including every other phone after it, which I used for 2 years. Then a LG G6. Then an S9 (which I kinda loved/hated the same way I do this one) that I gave to my daughter and got me a OnePlus6T, the closest to rank next to Shamu.
So as you can read it's not like I hate the brand or anything like that, I hate how Samsung adds so much makeup to Android that it doesn't feel like Android. The Screen Gestures, as I mentioned before, is a Android 10 problem that I didn't seem to have on my 6T, but all that Bixby crap and the way the icons look and how their themes suck so bad, it's like a bunch of Korean 12 year olds put them together. It's just the way Samsung makes what should be a great experience as I had with the 6T on A10 feel like bloated and opaque.
My wife and daughter loves it thought so I guess I got that going for me. I'm getting money back for both my S9s which I'll use to pay for the phone and sell it as fast as I can.
For example, My Nexus 6 had most of the amenities or features that this phone has, obviously the camera technology and fingerprint scanning had advanced greatly, and no stylus but wireless charging, face unlock, you name it, it had it plus Google security patches monthly for 3 years and a still ongoing Dev community... I mean, it even use the same microsim.
So you see, it might be faster and everything but the Samsung skin is pretty awful in my opinion and I had just forgotten how much I hated the Bixby crap, I was very happy with the lack of a dedicated Bixby button thinking stuff might be better but is worst.
I hear you for sure. Unfortunately I also don't have much to add to the discussion. I currently don't have Android 10 and won't get access to it for another month or so probably. I expect a January release for Android 10 for the Note 10+ broadly. Maybe when one of the fellow members rocking the 5G version get theirs they might be able to help more. Sorry I couldn't help beyond providing some info earlier in the thread.

Look in your accessibility settings. There is something enabled that is causing your issue.

Nah, there's nothing active there bc I don't use none of that plus is also not something brought in from migrating to this phone since I started fresh on this phone.
As I wrote before, I read it is tied to A10 not allowing gestures on 3rd party launchers but it worked fine on my OnePlus6T.

That's great @dhorgas, not trying to knock what you've said or how you feel about your device in any way but I guess it's a subjective thing. I know what I paid for, I know what they told me about the device and I know what I got. You are clearly contented with what you got and that's OK.
The build quality on the N10 is exceptional, I don't think anyone can say otherwise but saying the N10 is significantly better performing than the S10 is nothing more than your bias showing in the face of all the comparison speed tests widely available. Significant? No. Exaggeration? Very much so. By the way just letting you know colors are better on the S10 screen than the Note 10 but that's neither here nor there. Performance is not a Samsung thing, it's Qualcomm. You shouldn't be giving Samsung credit for things they didn't do.
My few gripes with the phone might not be significant to you in any way. By themselves they're pretty small but together they're hard to overlook in in my day to day usage.
1) Screen size, they lied but didn't lie. Screen is correct 6.8" but actual screen real-estate is 6.5", almost the same as on my N9 which is 6.4" in immersive mode. There is no immersive mode on the N10. They artificially blocked it by having a semi-static banner there. Not a hardware problem, just a conscious decision made by Samsung as if they know how best I should use my phone. I was duped into thinking I would have a bigger screen to use.
2) The screen color are horrible, their choice of pixel color was a bad choice in my book. Now the screen has an even more reddish tint than even the N9.
3a) Battery size. They plain lied about this one. Some people might be fine with this, others might think they know all about how batteries work and will proceed to defend the company's actions.
I remember when they use to show mAh usage for all apps, they removed that. Now they have battery size mAh disclaimers? I'm getting the feeling it was a conscious decision to F us on the battery.
3b) battery tracking is petty much locked. when they removed mAh view they locked full tracking, why? Because they were getting ready to F us on the battery, that's why.
4) Gesture lock. What they did is lock the recent app gesture into their crappy launcher. You'd have to have it constantly running with full access to the device in the background in order to have full gesture while using a different launcher. Just like they use to lock gallery with a different app so if you should disable it then gallery wouldn't work.
With Android 10 we should at least have control of gestures which is a good thing for consumers like myself. But the road I see Samsung going down is a road I don't feel I should be investing my money, not like my money will be of any significance to them in any way shape or form but at least I want to feel comfortable when spending my money.

The gesture issue isn't a Samsung move. The same issue exists in other Android 10 devices in regards to third party launchers.

The problem is with Google's code, not to say Samsung couldn't fix it and flow the changes back into the base but that could take longer to get approved than to just let Google fix it and flow it up.

No, no that's a separate issue. What I'm talking about is on Android 9 running on Note 10, not Android 10 beta. If you fully disable Samsung's One UI launcher then you will lose the recent app gesture. No error no warning. If I should use a different launcher then I would have to keep the Samsung launcher also running using up resources even though I'm not using it.
I usually go full immersive, no status bar, until I need it, no navigation bar. Full gesture. And now Samsung is artificially preventing people who wants to use their phones that from doing so.
