Hey,
Lately I have noticed there is a sound/volume issue with the alams from the Google Clock app.
I understand the volume is poor on the Mate 20 - but this issue is a bit different.
When an alarm first sounds, it seems to start at a very low volume, then after a few seconds (maybe 5 or 10, up to around 20) the sound crackles and the volume jumps to the propoer volume.
I have the 'Gradually Increase Volume' setting to 'Never'.
My fear is that the alarm will sound, and the volume will stay low and I will miss the alarm.
Has anyone else experienced this trouble?
Thanks for any help

Is there anyway to increase the max ringer and alarm volume. when u preview it , its really loud but when it actually uses it its so much quieter.... any solutions?
Hello lucky GN users,
can someone tell me, if the volume bug also lowers the loudness of the alarm? I've searched for this information in several threads but couldn't find anything about it.
Thanks a lot!

If you happen to encounter 900MHz interference at the moment the alarm sounds, yes it could affect the alarm.
Chances of this are small, but it is definitely capable of affecting the alarm. I noticed in the alarm settings that there is an option to completely silence or snooze the alarm by using the volume keys. The 900MHz interference would trigger this.
It lowers the currently "played" sound setting i.e. if you are playing music, it lowers the media volume, if you are on a call, it lowers the incoming voice volume, if your alarm rings, it lowers the alarm volume.
Thanks a lot to you. This topic can be closed.
My problem is that even the lowest volume setting proves to be way too loud for notifications. I searched for this problem and found that the app "light flow lite" (an xda app which primarily controls the flashing of the LED light) might help. It does have sound settings as well as light settings but I could not figure out how to set it so that my voice call ringer played a bit louder and my notifications played a bit softer.
I saw a setting to separate the ringer volume from the notification volume but when I did that I got no notification sound at all.
I guess I either need another way to handle this OR some very specific directions to do what I want to do with the Light Flow Lite app. I want a lower notification volume than the lowest setting and a bit louder ringer. The very lowest volume setting disturbs everyone around me. I realize I could look for a different sound and if I have to I will do that, I guess.
TIA
Hi,
As the title suggests my 5T appears to be muted on bluetooth when the volume is at 10% or less. This doesn't happen on speaker or audio jack so.
I've looked around and can't find any other instance of this. I've tried messing about with the "Bluetooth absolute volume" setting but that doesn't make a difference. It's happening for all bluetooth devices so it's nothing to do with the devices themselves.
I've attempted to up the volume steps within gravitybox but that does nothing (my understanding is OOS doesn't allow this to be changed?)
This has only been an issue since I updated to 8.1.0.
Just to add to this I've just found that if I put the slider to loud (bottom) and kill spotify and open it again I can then hear sound at the lowest volume setting. If i then put my slider to silent (top) I can hear sound still. I can the adjust volume around the low levels but the moment I go above 10% and back down I can then no longer hear the sound unless I repeat the earlier steps.
Any ideas?
Hello!
I got my S20+ (SM-G985F) a few weeks ago and the alarm clock, notifications, and ringtone volume on my phone is too high. Compared to my old phone (LG V20), the minimum volume is equal to 50% of the maximum volume in my old phone. The minimum volume should be barely audible. This is a big problem for me, as I don't want to be woken up to loud sounds, and I don't want every room I'm in to be blasted with sound every time I get a notification or a call.
Here is what I tried so far:
* Installed "Sound Assistant" from the galaxy store. It doesn't do anything for the alarm volume, and the notifications and ringtone volume, even when it's 1/100, while it's better, it's still too high for some situations.
* I set the built-in EQ all the way down, it doesn't reduce the volume.
* I used an external EQ app (Equalizer FX) to turn everything down to -10db, which does help with the alarm clock, notifications and ringtone volume, but it also affects the media volume and makes it too quiet, so I have to disable it if I want to watch youtube for example.
Did anyone encounter this issue or have suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks!
I understand your problem. But if I choose e.g. Asteroid as the alarm sound and set it to lowest volume, it is really calm and pleasant to my ears, and I am quite sensitive to noise too.
The only possible way to maybe get a different volume control would be a Custom ROM like LineageOS I guess.
