Can't Find Previous Setting - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

I updated my unlocked note 10+ firmware last night. Before I did I made sure to back up everything through smartswitch. For some reason my phone didn't save some previous settings.
The one setting I cant seem to find is for Chrome. As you can see in the Before firmware flash photo the top bar is grey.
The After photo is after I flashed my firmware and as you can see the top bar in Chrome is white.
I cannot find the setting to make it grey again.
Would any of y'all happen to know what I'm talking about and how I can get that previous setting?
Thanks!

There isn't a setting yet for this, it is still experimental. You will find the info here: https://www.techradar.com/how-to/how-to-enable-dark-mode-for-google-chrome
It works nice, thank you for asking, I wouldn't even think to look for a solution. Enjoy it!

That was exactly it! Thanks! I guess I forgot that I enabled the flags option for chrome on my note 9. That setting seemed to not transfer through smartswitch.
Thanks again!

I'm aware of night mode but that wasn't the setting I was looking for.
But thank you for your input!

Disable Touch Key Backlight on Google Edition

I hope someone can help me out with this (I guess most of my posts arent worth bothering with as they usually go untouched by anyone). I'm trying to figure out a way to disable the touch button backlight on a Google Edition ROM. I have been searching for an answer since the Google Edition hit. All I can ever find is how to disable on GSIII ROMs (non ge). If anyone can please help me out I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!

Screen Filter is an app that can disable the backlight of the softkeys. Set it to auto-start at boot and you should be good. I know its not a direct fix but its a low impact app that shouldnt effect battery life or operation.

Seems to work for me. Did it dim the screen at all (thats its main function)? Did you see the check box "enable softkey back light" (uncheck it) at the bottom of the app ui?

Yes, it did dim the screen, but if i uncheck the enable softkey back light, anytime I touch the screen the backlights still come on. Are you on a G.E. rom? I am currently on Infamouse G.E.

No im not. I am on AOSP (Slim Bean) though.
There are options to do this in AOKP and CM roms. Anybody know how those builds pull it off?

B118 allows you to get themes online

At last ! More themes available the easy way!
But only those 6 top/latest themes show up right ? How do you browse the rest of themes ?

Hi guys- Other than the online themes is there any other interesting stuff in that version ? I usually get my themes from my laptop anyway so the themes online is nice but not essential.
Is it worth the upgrade ?

Yes you are right. The themes is only 6. I flash after that B111 over the B118 without wiping data and online option for the themes is still there but the themes is much more. Now I can download themes online on my phone, and I use international version of firmware B111.
Serious battery drain since I am on this B118, I am hoping it settles down but will see tomorrow. The online themes are nice but again only a few to see and the search option is fekkin useless. May go back to factory B111, not much different as far as I can tell.

I think you have to be connected to the internet. Because i did notice on two different occasions that i had only local but once it is connected, it comes back.
Also do post snapshot of your battery usage on the firmware topic.

Oh yes I'm definitely connected to the internet. Tried on wifi & mobile data.
I'll post a screenshot of my battery usage tomorrow - I'm going to leave the phone alone for the night as I just charged it this afternoon. It's currently on 98% after 5hrs 42mins with little usage. :good:

I think 'warea' had some issues with how smooth the phone was running & the phone getting hot following the upgrade to B118 and a factory reset sorted that out. I prefer to do a factory reset after a firmware update - I have settings etc. backed up and I just re-install any apps I need. Sometimes it's nice to have the phone put back to a clean state. I know some people can't understand why a factory reset is necessary after an update (and I suppose it isn't), but it certainly doesn't do any harm.

I've worked out why my 'Online themes' option had disappeared! I opened Themes, went to settings and there was an option of 'Access location' - I allowed this and then the 'Online' option appeared again. If I go to settings now, the 'Access location' has gone. Maybe I disabled this app from accessing my location at some point.
Worth bearing in mind if your 'Online' option disappears
Hi, i have a question. I`ve read thred and i dont have option `online` just `local themes` and i dont have settings in themes folder..just on the bottom `customize current theme` and when i click on three dots, just pops out `help` nothing more..I`m on b111, and it seams that some of you are also and have online option..Some help please?

[BLN][APP][WORKİNG LİKE A CHARM!!!] BLN feature for galaxy w

hi guys!
our kernels arent supporting this awesome feature
because of that ı decided to search for how can we use this awesome feature in our phone
you can download the apk file from here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4cmiu9q7g4hk900/IUw3GUcHWD
NOTE: our device galaxy w is hdpi device so download the right apk
You do NOT need a kernel with BLN support to use this app , already our device has no BLN kernels
Running the app:
install and open the app. You should be greeted by a popup showing you a list of files. Select the most appropriate (you're looking for something that has a path such as "/sys/devices/platform/bcm21553-leds/leds/button-backlight/brightness). Once you're done, click "enable buttonled in accessibility" and do so. Come back to buttonled and tap the "test buttonled" button. If your capacitive buttons flash, you're good to go. Otherwise, you will need to select a different brightness file (use auto locate or do it manually).
You may also want to customize the options.

Yes, you can just disable it but whats the point of installing if you will just disable it? Anyways, this one is good for those who doesn't use messaging often as it will use the battery often too and the good thing is, it doesn't use the lcd but the capacitive buttons. Thanks for sharing though mate :good:

As you can see in the video, supposedly, only the capacitive buttons should light up not the LCD. Just check the settings
I downloaded, hdpi_jb for cm 10.2. It doesn't work I guess. Im choosing "auto locate", and it brings me 2 different path under the /sys. I tried to click them but nothing happened. Then I activated for missing call and unread message. Besides, I pressed test button, and nothing happened again, I mean there is no blinking. I activated buttonled in main settings panel too. Lastly I tried to restart phone... Guess what? It didn't work again..
Is there any solution bro?

Didn't force reboot mine did you update your watch yet though. I am wondering if it just forces peoples watches to update.

I updated to the newest firmware on the watch yesterday. When I downloaded the Wear update today I noticed the watch reboot and figured it had crashed. Then I saw the note in the Wear app.
Installed it thanks for link.
But anyone can tell me what is the new change is " This update adds a 'Card preview' setting which can be set to "None" or "Watch face sets card preview."
I test it but do not see difference.

ok I figure what it is. And it is the setting I really need after recent OTA. After OTA on change is you can keep the notice card by swap down. It is nice but the problem is if you not aware income notice at first place after screen off the notice will automatically hide. Next time when you turn on screen you will not find any new notice unless you swap up. Or you will get old notice when new is coming.
It make me missing lot of notice. So if you setting as NONE, it will behavior like this, but setting another item, you get old way how notice show.
It is perfect now we can have choice for what we like.
Yep it rebooted mine too, and I was on the newest firmware. Wonder what its upto?
The watchface dependant preview is in preparation for the 2.0 update. The watchface API will allow developers to make a few settings, including how to display the preview cards (size, opacitiy, whether or not at all, etc)

There's no need for a tool, the watch face developers can set these in their watch faces. So Facer for example will either have a global setting or a per-face setting for these things.
Dedicated watch face apks will just set these based on what they want or also allow customization via some sort of interface I guess.
What is the new wear card that looks like a green wifi symbol? There is no text. The only option is open on phone, but does nothing. My phone wifi is turned off. Thanks!

never hide softkeys

Hi,
i've tried to do a few searches but can't find anything about SHOWING the soft keys all the time.
See the thing is, this phone is for the mother-in-law and she's 71 so it needs to be as simple as possible. She wants to play games like temple run but doesn't understand the concept of swipe the top to get the home button to show up so I'd like to have the bottom bar always visible, even in immersive mode.
Any ideas please?
Cheers
I should probably include that it's stock 14.6.A.0.368 (this probably needs updating, but I'm looking for how to do that at the moment and confusing myself lol) and is rooted.
Xposed module 'App Settings' - go to the app you want, full-screen>prevent. I think you have to do it for each one. You probably can force it across the board with build prop, but I think the other way is best.
I can cope with that... Is there an easy guide for my firmware version to install xposed? I don't want to brick it again lol
Cheers

Flash this in recovery - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3580244&d=1450386592 Then install this apk - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3383776&d=1435601440 Then open Xposed app and go to 'download' and search for 'app settings'. Note that the first boot after flashing the zip will be long and finish with 'optimizing apps' dialog, which will take several minutes. Make sure your battery level is good.
Always a good idea to backup first.

There's a 'blacklist' function which you can apply to chosen apps. I can't say if it will work on your specific game or not. The Xoosed module I mentioned works great for me with Camera, but I guess it didn't work for your game. I think with play store you can return a purchase within 15 minutes or something...
Don't know how I missed that. I'll give it a bash, Many thanks!

Well, after some reading, it seems clear that it is coded into the programming, and you'd have to rewrite the ROM to entirely disable it. From app to app, you probably could decompile and mod the apk so it doesn't call on the function. I did read that Gravity Box from Xposed has an immersive mode toggle, but I can't test it, since GB doesn't work on CM ROM. Check that out.
Thanks for your help so far. I tried GB but it didn't work either. Bloody annoying.
Perhaps another approach would be double tap the power switch to return home? Do you know if something like this exists please?
Thanks again for all the input and suggestions so far.

Hey I just discovered UDN (ultimate dynamic navbar). Install it, go to ssettings>general>special modes. Check 'toggle mode' and uncheck 'hide on outside touch'. The navbar will never go away. The only problem is that it sits Right there over anything else, blocking whatever you might want to touch down there, so maybe not a total fix. How eve, there's also more configurations you can mess with that might at least be an improvement.

I think I tried that as well, but like you say, it gets in the way. It got in the way and I didn't look any more into it. I'll give it a go and look more at it when I get home from work. Cheers.
