I know, the title says it all...
Still, the S-pen got a really awkward plastic burnt smell on it. Anyone else has that as well?
Actually yes, haven't noticed it until I tried giving it a sniff
Wow, I thought I'd be falling for a trick, but no... It does have a strong plastic smell.

Same here ?
Ooh the visuals...
A thousand Note 10/10+ owners carefully removing their S-Pen and running it tenderly under their nose looking for a delicate aroma of burnt plastic.....
LOL.....
Maybe it smells more after coming off the charger, due to heat.

OK same here, the idea of it. But it is actually a legitimate question. It really smells awkward. Like burnt molten plastic.
Okay i laughed and give it a good smell.
Don't think its burning plastic you can smell. I imagine its the Coil inside the Pen, Most PCB give of that smell.
Lmfao.
Yes I admit I just gave it a whiff and sure enough, strong smell like burnt something...
You people amaze me. How in the heck did u notice this? I had never smelled the spen till now. I think consecutive whiffs would get you high off plastic.
Now I wonder is my Note 9 smelled also?
Yes because it as actual electronics in it, it's the wireless charging coil. Still agree it doesn't smell great
My coworker just saw me sniffing my s-pen. lol
It definitely smells funny though.

My LG Arena smelled like it was on fire(mmm BBQ) when I "overclocked" the speakers Well btw, try to clean up battery-phone connection and don't use it too much for a day, that's my suggestion.
Tried cleaning it up, but the entire back of my phone (under the battery protector) smells like it

This one really blew me! You've made me remove the tight cover to smell my desire and to me its regular electronics smell...
Ask someone else about it if, but don't initially say its smells like celery, ask what the other person smells and see what you get
I'm not sure where you got the "celery" smell from (I hate celery ) but I suggest removing the battery to see if it has ballooned. Usually you'll see a noticeable "bubble" or it has expanded on the front and back. The funky smell could be caused by a hole in the cover or if the battery has already burst (the smell is toxic btw...).
If it has ballooned stop using it immediately! It is possible for the battery to explode from the pressure. I've yet to see one catch fire or anything like that but I have seen one bust the back cover off an iPod
These days it's uncommon unless you buy a cheap knock-off battery from ebay or something like that. Just take it back to the store or ring/email HTC, replacement should be covered by the warranty.
Otherwise...it's probably just a generic plastic smell...damn, now I gotta go smell mine....
Checked mine, smells as described. Typical electronics smell.
If you sniff the headphones socket it smells of oranges. And that's because its the cleaner used in manufacturing electronics

Try downloading JuicePlotter from the Market-Place (It's free). It'll tell you how hot your battery is. If it's overheating you will get that smell, and it may be a sign of imminent battery failure. Hottest mine has been yet is 37.6.
Don't smell the charge socket - that's just kinda creepy.

It just generally smells, everything under the back case is all celery like
True, but it shouldn't smell like celery through the case. If you take it off and sniff, mine smells like that too, but if he can smell it with the back still on...well...there;s something odd about that.

Nononono, not through the case, just with the case off.
Noticed it when I hit a boot loop and had to remove the battery.
Oh! My bad! Nah, that's fine, it's the way it smells. All phone's smell odd inside, and some utterly stink the first time you charge them. Nought to worry about, it's just interesting though, how one phone can have so many smells, orange, celery, what's next, tomato?

how is that ruining the vibrant? I didnt strive for it. Just have the capibilities to do it for free. thought it would help make it rugged. Its a case that was sprayed. This is the same lining that the military uses for their applications and i know it is more than durable for the apllication in which i applied it . almost like an otter box. so if you have a screen protector then this. . most likely would never dent or scratch. ive dropped it from 10 feet 5 times and nothing. It wasnt a FLIPPIN fashion statement. If i wanted something that was "pretty" i wouldve FLIPPIN bedazzled the phone.

Dunno if it's the lighting or the case, but it looks too glittery for my taste. Then again, I don't even know what it's made of.
Good thing you like it though.
My ear hurts already just by looking at this ... but kudos for being first, it's your phone, do as you please, and disgard the negative comments.
P.S. Is there a 14 days buyer remorse for this cover?
I f everyone liked the same thing we would all be using iPhones.

Check it out. Made it with some sold scrap metal I had around the shop. I will get more pics when I put some spray on it.
Here it is all finished. The bolts make it so I can tilt the phone more forward or back by loosening or tightening the jam nuts. Comes in handy when watching video. I put some VW lug covers on the head of the bolts to protect the case of the phone. Not bad for a days work.
Sweet!

What case is that on the phone? I just ordered a Vibrant (it'll be here tomorrow. Can't wait!) and I'm looking for a good case to put it in. That one looks pretty nice. I was a bit disappointed to find that Otterbox doesn't make a case for the Vibrant.

The inertia from a moving car flung it harder than your drop. A friends of mine lost his riding his bike at about 20MPH. He said it dinged the corners, but is fine other than that.

THIS. I was going to say the same thing. The Defender is a lifesaver. I dropped mine on the blacktop asphalt standing up out my car and couldn't even find a scratch or imperfection on the case, much less the phone.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I don't use a case because I think they detract from the design of the phone. I'm just very careful and I suppose I pay for insurance in case something crazy happens.
My old ASUS A8JS ($1500) took a similar spill off the roof of my car when I took a turn doing about 25Mph. I stopped in the middle of traffic (no one honked - must of been the look on my face) and collected my laptop and the battery (which was on the other side of road). My only hope at that time was that the HDD survived (hadn't done a backup in some time), but to my surprise everything still functioned pretty much perfectly (touchpad seemed a little off, but it sucked anyway). In the end it was pretty scratched up, but it always made for a good story to tell...
Your move Samsung.
So, I'm looking at getting the Optimus G, but have a few reservations, the biggest of which is the glass panel on the back. I'm wondering from you guys about real-world usage is this something I should be worried about. I don't like cases because they add too much bulk and I'm normal in that drops my phone on the concrete from time to time. Also, I've got young kids which, unfortunately, can lead to some extra drops. Should I be worried about the glass on the back cracking? Any advise would be much appreciated!
A few other reservations are related to the non-upgradable storage and non-removable battery, but I think I'm okay with those.
I have had this phone since it was released and I hardly ever have my bumper case on it and I've dropped it and have never had an issue. I don't know what it is with this phone but it seems indestructible.
I'm not one to drop my phone so I can't personally say anything about the durability of the phone after a drop. But I do know its a mixed bag. And judging from what you said, you drop your phone quite frequently. In which case, I can't recommend this phone for you. This isn't like other phones where if you crack the screen you can still use it. It becomes unresponsive. So my opinion, this phone is a no go for you.

Other people would beg to differ I'm sure.
Most of the time I use a pretty cheap rubber case by Diztronic. I've dropped it a few times from a few feet up onto concrete in this case, and it's been totally fine. That said, I don't know how it would fare without the case. You really should have a case for any phone you get, though. Particularly if it's glass. But there's nothing about this phone that makes it more fragile than the other glass guy.
Thanks!
Thanks for the information! I wouldn't say I'm a frequent dropper, but I do keep my phones for 2 years for the upgrade and in that time there are a number of drops. Thanks again!
I have an otter box on my phone. The other day I was running on my treadmill and using my phone to listen to some tunes when it fell out of my pocket on to the treadmill and hit a wall. Its still in perfect condition.
