I have been reading some really scary things regarding Sim Cards and viruses or malware or whatever and am wondering if I should change my sim card. A part of me thinks that the idea of a Sim card being infected is silly, but at the same time, I really would not know, lol.
If I were to upgrade my sim card...
Would it put my unlimited data at risk? (Verizon)
How would I go about changing my Sim? Could I use the sim that came with my note 4?
Also, should anyone even worry about their sim cards? o .0
SIM cards are free at corporate stores and you will not lose your unlimited.
Just take your phone in and ask for a new SIM. If they ask why tell them you've been getting errors or something. It takes like 5 minutes if there's no wait.
I don't think you can do a SIM swap online but you probably can by calling customer service from a different phone
Edit: If you call CS for a SIM swap make sure you have your other SIM on hand for the ICCID
Ah.. I see!
I actually tried to do a sim swap at home because google made it seem simple; however, it never worked to my knowledge. At first, I popped in the sim and it said that it was setting up, but never finished. While my phone was trying to activate with the new sim card, I went to the verizon wireless website and tried to activate my phone there, but could not find my phone listed in the section with previously activated phones. I did not try the option to activate a phone that wasn't registered already and just backed out. I did not - to my knowledge - see any screen indicating plan changes so I'm assuming that I did not do anything that could compromise my plan(?). When I dialed the number for activating sim cards, it went to the visual *611 screen and claimed that it did not recognize my number and asked me to log in to my verizon account. After doing so, nothing seemed to happen and it just sent me back to my home screen.
In hindsight, I probably should have stopped after it asked me to log in to my verizon account, but I suppose now all I can do is wait and ask questions to ease my anxiety x_x

You have to call that number from a different phone. Your phone doesn't hold your phone number so just popping a new SIM won't do anything.
You could try to do the "activate device" thing online but I don't know if there's an option to use a different SIM.

Thanks for your incredible fast help!
i got the unlocked version of fire phone, but doesnt seem to be working on airtel/vodafone India
i can see the network connected, but cant make/receive any calls ; same with sms
data seems to work though
calling 911, works i.e. atleast gives me a network operator error that the number is invalid; all other number the call just ends
any idea, how to get this working ? i have even tried to factory reset but doesn't help
amazon support, was not able to help; they just said its US compatible only and asked if i wanted to return the device
The phone supports the following frequencies and bands: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz), Quad-band GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), 9 bands of 4G-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 17, 20), supports carrier aggregation
What frequencies are used by the carrier your having problems with? Also, make sure the SIM is inserted correctly. The contacts go down and the cutout faces away from the phone.
facing the same issue
Hi,
I am also facing the verify same issue, I am able to see the carrier and get signal but am unable to make/receive calls.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Is there any settings that need to be changed ?
:crying:facing the same problem, if there are someone really out there who can help us please do....
CAll Amazon
I called up amazon with the same issue. They accepted the fact that there are many with same problems in India. They are working on a fix and will keep me updated. They added my serial number and registered account to the internal Ticket created for this issue. I recommend you all to do the same and get added.
Moreover, they took some debugging data from my phone after approval so I belive you guys should do that to provide them with more data to fix this issue.
Will it not get activated automatically for Indian users
Rather than providing data to them
Nano Sim
Did you try using a new nano sim from the carrier? There may be an issue if older micro sims are used after cutting into nano sims.
Got a new nano sim from vodafone
I got a new nano sim from vodafone and its still the same .
Now only daru666 can help by letting everyone know what feedback he has from Amazon and if it works.
What should we do ? I am sure some update from Amazon technical team can fix this issue....
Anyone tried it in Delhi. Even if voice works, I am fine with the phone.
I can return it it next few days, so any confirmation would be very helpful...

An issue could be that the IMEI code of fire phone is not under registered or under whitelist category of Indian operators. Hence not able to make calls.
For this to happen, amazon will need to give IMEI list to the operators here to add to whitelist. Or it can also be checked with the operators if they recognize the IMEI nos of fire phone.
That would be helpful to us
Did anyone try flashing an android ROM to make it work in India?

Shall i return it (or) keep it..........?
Hello Guys,
Please send an email to [email protected] with the below details.
Amazon needs the following details to find a solution to this issue.
1) Name of network SIM used
2) Did the store/anyone cut the SIM to get it to nano size?
3) Help us by providing logs of your Fire Phone.
To send us logs, please follow below steps:
1. Press the Home button.
2. Swivel your phone or swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick Actions panel, and then select the Search icon (magnifying glass).
3. Type ";dm" (without quotation marks) into the Search field. You can find the ";" key by tapping the “?123” key.
Tip: If ";dm" is auto-corrected by your device, tap "dm" in the word choices that appear above the onscreen keyboard.
4. Tap the Search key (magnifying glass), and then wait 60 seconds.
5. Connect your device to your computer using a micro-USB cable. When your device is plugged into your computer, it appears as a removable mass storage device.
6. Open the Fire phone folder (titled "Fire") on your computer, and then open the "Internal storage" folder.
7. Open the “KindleLogs” folder. Drag each of the files within this folder to your desktop.
Note: If you only see "DCIM" and "Pictures" in the "Internal storage" folder, this means your computer recognizes your device as a camera. To change the USB connection type, open the Quick Actions panel on your Fire phone, tap the "Connected as Camera" notification, and then select File Transfer.
8. Reply to this e-mail and include the logs as an attachment.
The total size of the attachment(s) must be less than 6 MB. You will need to send separate e-mails if the size exceeds 6 MB.
After you've e-mailed the log files, delete them from your Fire phone.
LET ME KNOW WHAT RESPONSE YOU HAVE FROM AMAZON ON THIS.
What is the response from Amazon???
I am also facing a similar situation
Amazon is casually asking me to return the phone and get a full refund. The refund process also looks too complex. Why it isnt working in India alone? They told me that
Although, the Indian carriers provide the network bandwidth which is required for the Fire phone, IMEI's of the Fire phones were not added to the carriers outside the US, so currently the Fire phone will not work with the carriers outside US.
When pressed if they would even rectify it by mid next year, they said that currently they arent working on it. They call a phone which doesnt work with any sim other than the U.S. an unlocked one. Still they are selling the phone at $449 calling it unlocked and when people face an issue they say its Unlocked only in the U.S. This looks like a complete fraud.
Any updates?

We should press amazon to find a solution to this and deliver a fix ASAP considering how big the Indian market can be for them for their inventory of fire phones that are unsold. Moreover, Motorola had similar issues with Moto E And Moto G and they had worked out a solution in 15 days. Amazon can also do the same provided they are serious on fixing the issue.
From what I understand, they need to give an update list of fire phone IMEI's to the Indian carriers who will update their systems accordingly.
The more all of us push, the more we have a chance that Amazon acts faster.
Hey guys. I'm on Verizon and currently am on my Essential Phone and just bought a 7T and was wondering how to go about switching it. Back when the 6T came out I know you had to call Verizon and tell them to switch it to a CDMA-less device and do some other things but wasn't sure if it got a little more streamlined with the 7T. I did read one article from a website that just says I need to switch the SIM and then go into My Verizon, log in and activate. Is that accurate? Anyone with experience in this? Thanks in advance.
I've switched 3 lines to OP 7Ts. All that I did was log into my Verizon, find the switch device option, type in IMEI and it automatically added CDMA less, advanced calling....and I just followed the directions given in the screen....all 3 work great!

Thanks! That's all I needed to know!
I ran into my own slew of issues getting my phone activated on verzion (t-mobile oneplus 7t, already carrier unlocked).
Here's my experience.
I went into the verizon store and they could not activate my phone based on its IMEI. That said, they took the sim from my pixel and popped it in and phone calls worked no issue. I could also send text, but could not receive them.
It took a few calls, but I eventually had to get to tier 2 tech support where they manually had to key in my device info so it could be activated on Verizon (wasn't in their device database). It was showing up as unknown device before then in their system and in the my verizon app. They said it would take 24-48 hours before it would be in the data base. About 24 hours later, I checked the My Verizon app and found it was now listed as a OnePlus 7T UNL and showed the device image.
After doing that, I had to call into support again and ask them to add Feature #83856 be added to the line (I had done this before on two other calls by requesting CDMA-Less be added, that didn't work as the techs had no clue what I was talking about and wanted to pawn me off onto One Plus support). Just ask for the feature number as they can look it up and add it to your line fairly easily. The moment they added that feature to my account, my texts started pouring in.
Hope this is helpful if you run into any similar issues that I did. I love this phone so far, hopefully they will streamline this setup in the future as I made multiple trips to verizon and called into support at least a dozen times before figuring out the best way to approach this. Expect tier 1 support to have no idea what you actually need 90% of the time and keep pushing for a T2 escalation if your device shows up as unknown in their system.
I've also read that if the device shows up in the system and you're having issues, getting a new sim may correct without having to worry about having features added/removed from the line as it should auto provision the features (according to T2 tech) when activating a new sim on a 1+ phone that is already in their system.

Coverage has been great, I haven't run into any issues honestly vs having a cdma compatible phone previously (pixel 3 xl). Data speeds have been just as good. I did flash my firmware to the international version to get quicker updates and remove the T-mobile apps and tweaks.
One thing I didn't tell them the whole time I was adding my phone to their system was that this was a T-Mobile OnePlus 7t. I just told them it was an unlocked OnePlus 7t I purchased online. This was before I flashed the international software, so nothing on their end flags you as having the T-Mobile version unless you tell them. Not sure if they would deny you or use that as a reason to send you on the way otherwise.

Do you think this is still possible. I bought a hd1907 T-Mobile and it's on way, had the store give me the IMEI so I could activate before it got here. Website says incompatible. Messaged them and they said the same thing. Should I just wait and put in my sim then go from there?
So is it possible to use Verizon on the HD1905 dual sim phone just the same as the T mobile model? I actually switched 2 of my lines to AT&T just to be able to own this phone. No texting was the deal breaker for me.
BTW, is anyone getting wifi calling with verizon?

VZW allows wifi calling on Verizon branded 8's, but won't activate wifi calling on the 7 series. The claim is that the 7's could be a network security hazard because they never went through Verizon's testing.
This is Verizon's decision, not OP's.

Thanks, but I would not want an unlock-able VZW branded phone. But thanks for the info. :highfive:
I don't even have Visual Voicemail on my HD1900. I will be switching to the Pixel 5 or the S21 because this and the no wifi calling.
I made the wifi calling sacrifice for a dual sim phone. OTOH, I can always use Google voice for wifi calling if needed.

According to this first hand account, you are SOL. Get the HD1905 and you will be able to use Verizon.

* No RCS messaging
* Previous iphone users cant SMS me (even with proper deregistration/new convos)
* Messages app cant insert pictures from Google Photos library
* Message app inserts weirdly formatted images sometimes, like converting a jpg to an mpeg4 which cant be opened

I am using 2 VZW sims, and Google Messages works just fine on both. No problem with inserting sending or receiving photos from Google Photos or any other source.
I guess most nonVZW phones cant do RCS, exept for the pixel, AFAIK.
I am not sure about, if people with iPhones can text me?
Maybe you have a setting or permission problem.

Hello.
I am living in Norway and I have the opportunity to get the Pixel watch from the UK.
Will it be restricted here so just basic functionality like notifications and health tracking will work, or can I take use of e-sim, and google pay?
Maybe there is a way to spoof it if ever it is restricted?
Thanks in advance!

Hello! I live in Sweden and i got LTE working on the Pixel Watch. I am using the carrier Telenor.
Ordered a esim from a supported carrier/country. (Vodafone De Pay as you go free esim)
Activated the eSim, and restarted my phone making sure I had connection with the supported carrier.
Launched the Pixel Watch App in my phone.
Went into the eSim/Carrier section and clicked on setting up the connection with the supported carrier.
Changed to the phone settings, and deactivated the temporary eSim and activated my primary eSim
Switched back to the Pixel Watch App, with the request to scan a QR code still active.
Scanned the QR-kod I got for smartwatch at Telenor SE

Ok. Can you elaborate what you did? And did you get LTE to work?
Hello again. I recieved my LTE Watch today.
When it come to adding E-sim to the watch it only say "set up your mobile service", but there is nothing to click after that. Seems some options should show up under the text. I talked to my provider and they said it should work.
Secondly I added my card succesfully to Google pay, but when I open Google wallet on the watch it says it's not supported in my country. Google pay on wearos should be available in Norway so can this be because of the watch not being sold in Norway?
After tinkering with the watch and the phone, I made Google Pay work by clearing data on wallet app on watch. (I did try it before, but didn't do anything then)
Has anybody been able to setup the esim in an unsupported country?
I have an esim for my Pixel watch but like others, the page to set it up in the app is blank.

I was able to order an eSIM from Vodafone Germany (pay as you go, 0€).
After adding the eSIM to my phone I was able to scan the QR code of my unsupported carrier successfully.
However, my carrier requires custom APN settings, and I don't know how I can change them, so I can call, but I have no data connection.
Does anyone have any idea how I can change the APN settings on the Pixel Watch?

Hi, is there any way to remove eSIM without knowing its PUK code (Sim Lock setting enabled)?
New to eSIMs. Tried to remove Airalo eSIM after it was no longer needed. During removal the device asked to provided eSIM's PIN (I suppose due to Sim Lock setting). Could not find PIN anywhere (iirc Airalo never provided one) and was in a hurry, therefore tried a couple of default options (1111, 1234 etc). Locked the eSIM and cant get past "Please enter PUK code" screen. Airalo which is supposed to be able to provide PUK code is not responsive.
Would really love to be able to use my phone. Are there any options to get rid of the eSIM? Or get past the Sim Lock screen and disable Sim Lock setting (e.g., using external managing software).
Also, any ideas what happens if eSIM is locked completely, i. e., after 10 failed attempts to enter PUK? Will S22 load to home screen as eSIM is no longer usable?
Doesn't factory reset remove eSIM?

No, it doesn't on Samsung devices with a locked eSIM.
A full hard flash using Odin might have the option, but I can't confirm.
Have not tried factory reset option yet. From what I read, factory reset is supposed to offer option to remove esim. It is both sad and weird if this option does not help to remove locked esims. After all SIM pin is supposed to limit access to sim related features, like calls, contacts etc. It should not prevent access to phone itself. There should be a way to remove or at least disable esim, like with physical SIM - one can remove physical card and continue using a phone despite not knowing card's PIN.
OK, the issue is solved.
It turns out that Galaxy was asking to provide PIN/PUK codes for physical SIM which was left in Tray 2 while incorrectly asking to provide code for "ESIM 1".
I have SM-S901B/DS, that is dual sim model which supports either two physical cards, o single physical card in Tray 1 and eSIM (physical card from Tray 2 is disabled during installation of eSIM).
What most likely happened: after eSIM was removed, Galaxy automatically switched physical card from Tray 2 back (it was left in place while I used esim). However instead of refering to the card as "SIM2", the screen displayed "ESIM 1" instead. Took a picture to make sure that my eyes are still good.
I realised this only after Airalo finally contacted me and told that their esims come without PIN/PUK codes and suggested to remove all physical sims. After emptying sim tray the lock screen disappeared. And after reinserting the cards and providing PUK code for SIM2, I was able to get past the lock screen. It was still asking codes for "ESIM 1" at that time.
Thus this looks like very confusing bug from Samsung. Will try to report.

The eSIM is always installed as an alternative to SIM2, unless a phone has 2 eSIMs. So eSIM1 = SIM 2.

Yes, but the issue was that Galaxy was incorrectly refering to physical sim card as "ESIM 1" (instead of "SIM2") when requesting to provide PIN/PUK code even though the eSIM was already deleted from the system. This is clearly a bug.

Agree. That's true.
