Uploading large files (or many files) with phpBB using HTTP POST is a pain. I created a new feature where attachments can now be uploaded using FTP .
[ftp_upload.gif]
Simply FTP to 'xda-developers.com', username 'xdaupload', password 'xda' and put the file in the root directory (do not create subdirs). Then use the '... or select a recently FTP-uploaded file ...' dialog (which is only present if files were uploaded) in the 'Add an Attachment' part of the message posting page to add the attachment.
Please don't attach other people's files, as they can only be attached once. Any files still in the temporary directory and not attached to a message are automatically deleted after 24 hours.
NOTE/2005-04-26: ftp username has been changed to xdaupload
maybe it's stupid but I can NOT attach any file, I have even placed the file in the root directory of xda-developrs.com
the file itself occupies 118k but so far I am apparently out of luck ... any idea how to fix it ??
diminishing the size of JPG does not help
regards, monika

YUP...GOT IT!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH SIR PETER!
Just had a few problems with this - is there a file size limit other than the ones on the limits page? I uploaded a 2MB png file, but it kept coming back with an error when I tried to attach it.
Use the ftp site and link the file in your post.
Yep, I did that - the files uploaded OK, but when I came to add the attachements, it threw an error:
Upload Error: Could not upload Attachment to ./files/nbefore.png.
The file should still be there if you want to have a go...
by link I meant:
Link the Ftp link to the file in your post (copy link).
Ah I see. Will the files not get cleared down overnight then? Not a problem as I can host the files myself, I was just wondering if I could get the nice BBS attachment snippet.
Upload Error: Could not upload Attachment to ./files/wm2k5_2.01a.32ger_xda2_himalaya.rar
Upload Error: Could not upload Attachment to ./files/test.txt
Anybody knows what I'm making wrong?
:? the message has changed...
Upload Error: Could not upload Attachment to /home/hosting/forum.xda-developers.com/files/upload/Uploads/test.txt -> ./files/test.txt.
hmmm... Some body is working on that problem
I want to put a jpg in place of my name for my txt message signature. Any chance?
No one? Can somebody maybe point me to the txt files or registry settings
Hey guys,
I got a picture on my email account (gmail) and when I click on the attachment I can only see it, I can't save it.
I tried to get to the attachments directory with file explorer but attachments are saved as .att and I couldn't change the extension of the file (without copying to to a laptop, changing extension and getting it back on the device).
It's really basic requirement, when I get a doc or a picture and I wish you keep them on the device, I'd like the attachment to have the original file name and extension for easy opening on the device.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance
Tap & hold on the attachment and then tap "Save as" in the context menu that pops up.
Is the call log written to a file? ..our even a temp file? If so where is the location?
--Tanks
Recently I have noticed that my screenshots do not save properly anymore because my phone apparently forgets to add the ".jpg" at the end of the file name. At least, that's what I think is the issue? Whenever I send over those screenshots to my computer, they are unrecognizable until I add the ".jpg" at the end.
Not sure if anyone else has had this problem but I kind of wanted to fix it if possible because it's kind of annoying
They are actually stored in PNG format but adding .jpg will launch your photo viewer which is smart enough to know how to load it. It is hard to tell by that image if the files truly have no extension because you don't have extensions turned on in Windows. Does My Files show them without extensions?

Oh! JPG was just the first extension so I didn't know XD; But yeah, before I rename the file manually, the file is unrecognizable and my PC had no idea what to do with it S:
