So I have my mate 20x today, global variant. Can someone tell me what carrier services app is please and is it needed? Also does anyone know where the carrier network configuration file is stored , I got one when I inserted my TMobile USA sim card on initial setup. Thanks.
Also is it normal for the 4g LTE icon to remain on when connected to WiFi? I've always been under impression that mobile data shuts off when WiFi is connected. Anywhere to check?
PS is sucks that double tap to wake screen doesn't work on this device. I hope the power button lasts. Lol

About carrier services: there are different opinions, some say that it is currently only for Pixel phones, the others that it supports RCS if the provider has it enabled, there are complains that it sucks battery...
Carrier network configuration could be found under settings/wireless&networks/mobile network or dual sim settings
4g sign stays when you use WIFI though there is no mobile data consumption then. You can easily check mobile data usage under settings/wireless&networks/data usage.
I've tried and double tap indeed doesn't work. I never use it though. I get nervous with functions which could trigger the phone unintentionally and double tap might be a perfect candidate. You have other safer possibilities to lock and unlock. And yes, the power button is reliable.

Thanks, with carrier services I was referring to the attached.
In regards to the carrier configuration text message I received when I first inserted my sim card , I couldn't locate that configuration file. Maybe it gets deleted with the text message my carrier sent me?

Probably related. But I always disable Google body sensors and on this device I get the attached.

Also anyway to circumvent the attached? Or is it relatively normal? Cheers

I am on T-Mobile and when I roam, my phone will connect to the network for phone calls and SMS, but will not connect to the data services. I have it turned on for data roaming in the settings. My wife's 6P is also on T-Mobile and connects to data just fine. Any ideas?

Have you tried to switch the sims between the devices?
I am noticing this same thing on T-Mobile with the Pixel after coming from the Nexus 6P. Did you ever get an answer to this?
There is an option to reset the cellular network in settings. I was roaming in South Korea for the last 3 weeks with the pixel xl and didnt have any issues. Roaming is set off by default.
Any update
Any update to this? I just discovered that I'm experiencing the same thing.
I have the same issue. I can put my SIM back in my Nexus 5x, roaming works. In my Pixel, it can call and text, but no data.
Does it work temporarely when you turn on and off the flightmode?
i have the same problem but it sometimes works temporarily when I manually switch to another network while roaming
Mine did the same, went into mobile network settings, network operators, search networks and then choose automatically. Also make sure data roaming is on.
The phone then started working for roaming, in one country I had to do this twice before it picked it up
Change the APN Protocol (not for roaming protocol) to IPV4/V6.
You could also go into the testing menu (dial *#*#4636#*#* - phone information) to global auto but I think that setting gets reset every now and then.
Was working on my first trip overseas two mons ago. Same location as before but now i
I am am also on T-Mobile. On my first trip to Nicaragua two months ago my pixel work fine. Now my phone will connect to the network for phone calls and SMS, but will not connect to the data services. I have it turned on for data roaming in the settings. My wife's S5 is also on T-Mobile and connects to data just fine. T-MOBILE reset me several times. I will get a message then from Claro or Movistar saying no data because your data roming is off. No matter if I have it switched to on or off after resting I will get the message everytime.
I was having this same issue in Thailand and not Japan. Changing to ipv4/v6 didn't help but explicitly changing to 3g preferred instead of LTE preferred fixed it for me
Posting this to add the list of things that may work..
I have a Pixel 2 and was having this same issue with a Twilio sim card (runs on T-Mobile) while in Australia, New Zealand, and later in Ireland (home network is USA). I had tried all kinds of random APN tweeks mentioned in this thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/help/international-data-roaming-to-t2823789) with no success. I had also contacted google and they sent me a whole new pixel 2 but that made no difference. After much googling heres what I found:
Edit the APN settings and click the APN Type. Add "default" to the beginning of that list. Try and save, it will tell you that you can't set the type to default, that's fine. Press the home button and re-navigate to the mobile settings and default should be successfully saved in the APN type. That alone resolved the data connection issues for me but I was only getting H internet rather than LTE. I then also changed the MVNO setting to `SPN` and suddenly got LTE connectivity.
Howdy,
As many features are missing (disabled) on the unlocked Samsung Galaxy S9 bought directly from Samsung. I started digging deep and I found quite interesting things.
1) Wi-Fi Calling and HD Voice (VoLTE)
As someone who upgraded from an AT&T S6 (G920A), it didn't make sense to me that I was unable to get the same (or better) voice call quality in my Galaxy S9.
Using Tasker (the automation tool), I was able to see couple interesting apps:
HD Voice Settings
Outgoing HD Voice Settings
3 Wi-Fi Calling apps
Screenshots:

}
Both HD Voice Settings and Outgoing HD Voice Settings are inaccessible. I tried turning on the Wi-Fi Calling in the last app, but as soon as you exit it goes back to off.
However, there's an app called LTE test that caught my attention. It has a menu option where you can test VoLTE.
Screenshots:
* P.S. It is worth noting that whenever I ask Bixby to turn Wi-Fi Calling, it goes to Network settings and gets confused. *
2) Dual-Sim Possibility?
In one of the screenshots above, there's a SIM 2 option in one of the 3 "Wi-Fi Calling" apps. In addition to that, I found another mention for SIM 2 (Slot 2) in an other app called Network settings. Therefore, theoretically speaking, there's a high chance that the hardware is there.
Screenshot:
Any contribution would be appreciated!
As far as I know, HD Voice and WiFi calling are not firmware related, but carrier related. Meaning that they are there (in the firmware) but they are activated only if the carrier allows it - depending on their infrastructure, subscription/pre-pay etc.
In my case, I have HD Voice and WiFi calling, but I can't find RTT.

When I first bought my Galaxy S9 directly from Samsung, WiFi calling was not available however, in a later update it was made available and it works.

That's what happened with me on AT&T also. I was actually told that since it was unlocked they couldn't promise anything but the update did enable it.

What about HD voice
I am doing research about it too. It is related with csc. For example on my unlocked s9 I flashed the h3g UK firmware and the option stays on when you exit the menu but for me it is impossible to use because I live in Italy but don't have h3g so sip values are not correct
Can you elaborate? I purchased an unlocked S9, and I'm on AT&T. Are you saying you received an update that enabled hd voice and wifi calling?
The problem with the phone in those cases:
1. You can not always hang up
2. It is not always possible to pick up the phone.
3. Both SIM cards are cut down as if they are not there.
All this happens arbitrarily, sometimes it works correctly, sometimes not. Very frustrating
LG G7 + Phone (LM-G710EAW)
According to the recommendations on the forum, I stitched the firmware for the CIS, successfully, the recording of calls and Russian letters to the dialer appeared pleasantly. From the unpleasant - instead of the level of the signal of the network with chopsticks, the triangles are non-standard and before that you could see which type of network 2g 3g H H+ and now it’s not visible only when internet is active.
Well, I think, okay, but it will work correctly ....
And it was not there - I can’t put the phone down and the cards disappear as they disappeared.
While writing this message already appeared ... Themselves ...
This is a complete fail for such a flagship level.
Does anyone have a solution, advice on what to do?
I really do not want to sell the device ... He has only a month
Used with Ukrainian networks

I can`t use my device normally, I even don`t know if someone calls me, because it doesn't respond
I saved logs when this device lost its sim cards
Here`s I made a screenshots that can tell detailed information about my device.
Does your LG G7 Dual SIM has WIFI calling?
I can reproduce the similar issue, started happening since jan 10.
When set on 4g, calling issue is persistent, setting it 2G only mode solves the issue.
I am using single sim only.

Thank you for the answer. I just recieved my LG G7 from Google and liking it so far. I have a Samsung S8+ duos but the S8+ duos does not support WIFI calling. I am thinking of getting a dual SIM LG G7. If the dual SIM LG G7 does not support WIFI calling, that would not be an upgrade for me. Thanks again.
That`s nice that help you with smth, but I really need to resolve my problem.... It`s so sad.... to see yoour phone without any cannectivity...and lost incomes
Hi. I have a XZ2 Compact since a couple of weeks. My contract (Congstar, using german T-Mobile network) includes 4G for data, but only 2G/3G for calls. So the phone should change to 2G/3G mode if I call someone or someone call me. Sadly it only does, if there is 4G coverage at the beginning of the call. If there is only 2G/3G coverage at all I can't call anyone. So the phone always try to use VoLTE first before the network force it to use GSM for calls.
How can I force the phone to avoid VoLTE at all? I know there should be a option for this in the connections menu, but it's just not there. I tried a hard reset and I also flashed another firmware which I downloaded with XperiFirm. At the moment I have 52.0.A.8.50 installed.

Usually no button means no support
I would ask the Sony support about this problem.
It may be a software bug.
So there is no quick solution? I would like to use my phone without waiting for a bugfix And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only user of this phone in germany and this "LTE only for data" sim card are pretty common here.

As you maybe know, O2 support VoLTE and Wifi Calling for all customers, also for reseller like blau, ay yildiz etc.
T-Mobile and Vodafone only allow VoLTE and Wifi Calling for their own customers, not for reseller like Congstar, Otelo etc.

So I would ask the sony support, if it won't show a disable button.
Or use a SODP based custom rom. (Here VoLTE and VoWIFI is on the todo list).
Maybe one of the many listed adb props helps you, too.
http://bfy.tw/ONWv
But that would be just a forced disabling via ADB.
Not fixing the root cause of the issue.
Sony answered very fast, but just said I should contact my network provider. Well, useless as they only care about devices customers bought directly from them and not on the free market.

Any ideas where the setting is suppose to be, to just toggle 5G on/off?

And if you look at the first photo, under SIMS, THAT is all that is displayed. There are no other options, no 3 button menu button. If I click on the sim, it just gives the preferences for calling. NOTHING to change from 5G to LTE.

Who's your carrier? Some Providers such as Google Fi make it difficult to disable 5G (going so far as to re-enable it automatically in the background).
Also, when you first went into Phone Info through the dialer, you would have seen something like "NR/LTE/GSM/WCDMA". In this example, to disable 5G, you would remove the "NR" and change it to "LTE/GSM/WCDMA". Carriers use different network "types". If you want to go back to default you could try resetting your network by going to settings, internet, sim, top right "reset" or in settings, system, reset, network (but the last one will reset your wifi and bluetooth so it would be a last resort.
Instead of resetting network settings, post your carrier and someone with the same provider can tell you the default network type in Phone Info. In the future, anyone changing a setting in Phone Info needs to take caution when opening it, wait 10 seconds until it populates and then take a screenshot of the default setting.
It's sad that a few carriers make it so difficult to turn off 5G. It seems that MVNO's that use different carriers, usually have this limitation. If you are using FI, check their app to see if there are any settings for disabling 5G.
You have to tap on your SIM first to see the menu.
If it's not in there, the secret menu is your only option.
I'm on Google Fi and would use the 'secret' phone info menu to change network type to disable 5G occasionally when out and about and looking to stretch my battery. This worked for several hours usually but now Fi is re-enabling the default network with 5G within minutes. Was hoping for a workaround, even a method requiring root would be fine, but haven't seen anything like this yet.
When I tap on the sim, there isn't anything there. Carrier is AT&T postpaid.
On the "secret" menu (I'm guessing it's the *#*#4636#*#*), as long as I don't use
any of the settings that have NR (5G), it keeps 5G off.
