USB headset with Axon 7? - ZTE Axon 7 Accessories

Has anyone tried a USB (or USB-C) headset with the Axon 7? Interested in using one for phone calls, Skype, Whatsapp, Zoom calls…*Just wondering if it would work.

I tried a USBC audio adapter and normal headphones and it didn't work. Not sure about a plain USBC set though.
I have a feeling USB audio doesn't work with Axon 7.

The headset from the Mate 20 Pro phone on USB C works with the Axon 7 I have not checked the rest.

That's good to know, so USB is working and the adapter I tried is not compatible?
Or do you run a custom ROM and ZTE software isn't running it through USB?

I use the orginal nougat A2017G-N-B12 + unlocked bootloader + Magisk

[Q] USB Audio..

Hello guys!
I've just bought a Nexus 7 to integrate in my car dashboard. Actually I didnt had so much knowledge about it before I bought it, (I only wanted the best and I hate apple so) but I didnt thought it was junk. And that's the only thing I wanted, a non junk tablet that could play music and works as a navigator without hardware-buttons.
My old stupid Iphone 4s worked perfectly for playing and streaming sound from spotify trough a regular usb cable to my headunit, so I didnt even reflect that googles new flagship wouldnt be able to do this simple task. But it seems like it doesnt work..
I've searched for answeres but the only thing I can find is to buy a usb DAC that converts the digital audio to analog audio but then I lose the whole damn point. I want digital audio in to my headunit. And my stupid old Iphone do it great, why the **** can't google flagship do it? Feels like I have bought a extra thin rock from the stone-age.
Please tell me I'm wrong and this is possible somehow. Otherwise I gotta throw this stupid f***** sh*t tablet in the garbage as fast as ******* possibly..
Sorry for my rage.. I just feel so fooled.. I've just bought a 400$ angry birds game. :silly:
You have a couple of options:
1. Use headphone output jack from your Nexus. Hopefully your car audio headunit has an auxiliary input.
2. Bluetooth! This is what I use in my car. If your car audio headunit has bluetooth built-in, then you don't need any cables at all. Just pair your car audio to your Nexus and start playing music! If your car stereo does not have bluetooth, then you need to purchase a bluetooth car kit. These connect to an auxiliary input on your car stereo (just like #1 above). There are bluetooth kits that also stream through an FM modulator, but that should be used as a last resort as sound quality suffers materially.
I installed an Alpine bluetooth car kit and integrated it with my factory car stereo system in a 2005 Honda Accord. Since I did not get the factory CD Changer option, I had that one input open to use with the Alpine Bluetooth. I'd post a link to my YouTube video showing this, but I'm now allowed to post links yet since I'm new to this forum.
The two options listed above are the only ones I'm aware of. I'd love to hear from others if there are other options. The only drawback to both options is that you use the DAC built in the Nexus, you don't get to pass through to a better quality external DAC. The only way around that is a Slimport adapter which uses HDMI. I don't know of any car audio units that have HDMI inputs.
What you want is achievable. Nexus 7 2012 works best with Timur Kernel however Nexus 7 2013 with an AOSP build or stock with Elemental X kernel can have a USB DAC with an OTG Y cable that will simultaneously charge.
If you have Cyanogenmod you may need glitch kernel which does the same thing.
I have a HiFiMeDIY DAC and OTG Y cable (at home) but no reason I couldn't run the same thing in my car with a car charger.

I use a fiio e7 on USB and it works perfectly on cm or carbon, no extra apps or kernel required. By the way, otg works fine with Franco kernel on either Rom and hotswapping is supported. I have not yet found another rom that supports it, but I have been using just carbon for quite a while now.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
Some car head decks support android USB then it would charge and do audio. Just make sure it's android compatible.
Good, then we shall fight in the shade!

Well i can tell u most of those android compatible r meant can be connect n read as a mass storage, but not as ios.
Unless someone can make a custom rom like the one for 2012 model.
Has anyone tried USB audio on 4.4 yet? I recall reading they were making some changes to USB devices (may of just been mounting drives though).
I
Still no USB-OTG in kitkat

Just tried it. USB-OTG does not work on stock, unrooted 4.4. Neither flash drives nor USB Audio

When u guys saying otg works dor aosp or some kernel ,does that mean it works with an otg y cable aswell? Like reading files from flash n keep it charge while with flash drive on?
Sorry for the thread jack op.
U and i r on the same boat,i am doing a car mount too.
I am doing a 4g lte one.
I don't have a car, I have a scooter.
Problem fixed !
So it sounds like if I have the stock rom, with the elemental X, I can do USB audio? Do I need some kind of audio manager to specify where to send the output, or would the USB dac automatically disable the on-board headphone jack?
tried PAC rom 4.3 with elemental X 1.8
no go for the DAC audio.
sound is mute no matter what i do.

I bought the HifiMeDIY DAC and am using stock 4.4.2 w/ Elemental X Kernal. I don't get any sound out of the dac. What did you have to do to enable the USB sound instead of built-in speakers?
The Nexus 7 is way better than you described it.
You have lots of options for car audio, and they all have downsides, but just to name a few:
Bluetooth (if your car has a bluetooth receiver)
Auxiliary input (if your car has one)
Slimport (you'd need an hdmi-audio converter, but it would sound great)
Wi-Fi direct (not very common for cars, though)

Bluetooth (if your car has a bluetooth receiver) - I need the bluethooth to connect to other things, like an odb adapter and so on. Edit: The bluethooth connection doesnt always connect automatic whit the cars headunit either so that's another problem.
Auxiliary input (if your car has one) - The aux output aint that great, not good enough for my 3500$ audio system in my car.
Slimport (you'd need an hdmi-audio converter, but it would sound great) - Yes the problem is that I need to convert the audio to analoge. It needs a converter and it still doesnt give my headunit digital audio.
Wi-Fi direct (not very common for cars, though)- I use wifi to get my cars 4g connection to the Nexus 7
So in my case. This is just a really expensive angry birds game (Without sound)!

[Q] USB Audio Out?

Can anyone who owns the G3 confirm that USB Audio Out (over an OTG cable) works through a DAC? I can't seem to find any information that confirms or discounts that this works.
Thanks!

It does work with my Fiio E17. Just tried it today after almost buying an app that was supposed to do so. My only complaint is that the DAC seems to be charging while connected to the G3.

Thanks, Jesadac! That's great news... I was hoping this was the case, as I believe the G2 also supported it.
I assume you're referring to the USB Audio Player Pro app? It truly doesn't replace the native ability to have a clean digital audio out signal for all sounds out of the phone.
I have the Fiio E18 and a friend has the VZW G3. We just tested the combo and it seems to work fine.

Just bought the new Cayin C5 DAC/Amp. My TMo LG G3 does not put audio out though the amp when connected via OTG. It registers it's connected I'm guessing because all audio is no longer played through the phone. Plugged into my friends Note 4 and it worked right away. Is this is G3 problem? We're both on Lollipop.
I know this is an old thread... but do I still need USB Audio Player Pro to get USB DAC to work? I thought Android 5.0+ brings USB audio, and right now my Beyerdynamic A100 doesn't work by "simply" plugging it in... however I do get about half second of audio and quits.
I go on LG G3 with app USB Audio Player PRO and HibyMusic app, my DAC is Hegel HD2 and DragonFly RED. Logitech USB headphones works too. with China OTG cable.
I can confirm Spotify and youtube doesn't play audio through usb (android 5.1.1), and it still mutes integrated speaker when connected:silly:. Must have usb-player i guess.

Compatible USB DAC/Amp?

Hi, I've found that the headphone output of this phone, while good for some headphones, has too much noise for sensitive IEMs and not enough power for some less efficient headphones, so I'm looking into a portable DAC/Amp. I tried this one with a USB-C adapter:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FJSEAZ4
But it didn't work. I know the USB-C adapter works, as I've used it with a thumb drive, and I know the DAC works on other Android devices, but apparently compatibility isn't universal. So has anyone successfully tried a portable DAC with this phone?
My Fiio Q1 works fine with the phone.

Thanks, that's good to hear. I was considering one of Fiio's products
I tried this one: http://hifimediy.com/android-dac
Works very well together with an USB B to C converter that supports USB OTG and drove even my good old 600 Ohm AKG K 141 loud enough!
It has a Sabre DAC. Bought it out of concern that the sound of the phone might not be good enough. But it is - at least with low impedance headphones like my Ultimate Ears UE 10 TF I don't find a difference to the 180 $ sony walkman of my GF.
(Small remark: Used a Samsung USB B to C converter first. This one, while doing very well on the PC and with ADB and also with the charger did not work as OTG adaptor.)

Weird, that's the exact one I tried that didn't work. Maybe I needed a different USB-C OTG adapter

For sure. It works for me without problems - plug and play.
I use this adaptor: http://www.delock.com/produkte/G_65678/merkmale.html
Side note: While I could use the Samsung adaptor for charging (but not for OTG devices) this one works well for OTG - but not for charging.
Edit: The price for te DAC on the amazon side is way higher than if you buy directly from the Hifimediy website.
And you should also note, that this DAC while it's pretty good for higher impedance phones did not work well with my low (32 ohm) impedance IEM's. But for those I found no need to use the DAC.
I ended up with a Fiio E18, I like the fact that it has playback control, plus B&H has it on sale right now. It doesn't seem to work with Poweramp, but it works perfectly with USB Audio Player PRO.

Will USB Audio Player read OTG storage?
Most file explorers do not see mnt/media_rw/0EB0-0FF. Do any players?
Quick, and hopefully not too stupid, question, do I need to root the phone to get the DAC working with Google Play Music?

USB Audio not working?

Hi guys!
I haven't found any thread on this topic, excuse me if there is one after all!
So, I bought a P2 two days ago and am very very happy with it! My only problem at the moment is, that it seems to not deliver usb audio. When I plug in my Fiio E07k DAC, It will charge through the phone but the phone won't output music. I tried it with Neutron and USB Audio Player pro. With my Nexus 6 before that, I just plugged in the AMP and everything worked. I could even define an app starting when the Fiio was detected.
WIth the Lenovo it doesn't work at all. I tried it with the cables I normally use and also with the supplied USB OTG adapter. No luck.
Please help! I'm locken and unrooted on Stock Nougat 7.0
Cheers,
MoWe
Today, I got a replacement unit from amazon. USB Audio isn't working either. Also it was much worse build wise, so I will stick with my first unit for now.
Could somebody check, if usb audio works with a custom rom and is just a problem of the official rom?
Cheers,
MoWe
Update.
In the Lenovo forum, I got the answer from a Motorola tech agent, that a USB Headset worked great for them through the bundled OTG Adapter.
Is somebody here, who can verify this? I haven't got an USB Headsets.
And maybe there is somebody who has a USB DAC of any kind at their disposal and would try it out... That would be very much appreciated!
Cheers,
MoWe
Hi Guys!
Here is an update!
Today I was in a local HiFi store which is the only one in Hamburg to sell Fiio equipment, I know of.
I tried out different USB DACs on my Lenovo P2. An Audioquest Dragonfly red, an Oppo HA-2SE, Chord Mojo and a second USB Stick kind of DAC I can't remember the name.
The two USB Stick DAC worked flawlessly right from the plug in! Perfect!
The Oppo was recognized and charged but I could get any music routed through it and the Chord Mojo did the same as my fiio, nothing.
So I summary, USB audio works in the Lenovo P2 but only with certain devices. The drivers seem to be modified from the stock google drivers in this regard.
Hope, the update helps some people!

Using a USB dac with the Samsung A70

Has anyone managed to get a USB dac working without using UAP pro?
I have a Hidizs S3 that works perfectly through UAP pro, unfortunately my current music streaming service (Amazon music HD) isn't supported by UAP.
If I use the dac without going through UAP it is just used as a dumb extension cable and the dac isn't used.
Many thanks for any suggestions.
I tried, but sound quality is just not good without UAP.
I am rooted with Viper4Android
Thanks, stupidly I upgraded to this phone thinking it would be a step up in sound quality. It wasn't. So I bought a USB dac. That doesn't work properly ?
