there is a guide to root with magisk via odin. there is also a guide to install twrp. and even there are also 2 custom rom you can install. and you can find all of them if you look at the main page of xda A70 section...
ii tried all but after magisk get a new update i end up with vbmeta error
I am having same issue too. try not to update if it's possible. I have no access to my notebook right now so I am using my phone rootless since that vbmeta issue occured. To be able to use your phone if you stucked at download mode screen, press all buttons till you see Samsung A70 bootscreen logo.
it has been 6 months since this phone released, and no one can crack it with a proper or OFFICIAL way

Its been forever sicne ive done this so i feel a bit embarrased.. but i just got a fresh nexus 7 wifi only 2013 model from amazon and looking to root it unlock and whatever i need to do else. Its has 5.0 installed and asking to update to 5.1. Can someone point me to a guide to root and install the newest twrp and unlock the bootloader? Ive seen a few but nothing new so i dont know if they would soft brick my device. Thanks for your help! I appreciate it all.
First decide if you want OTA updates because they will end if you root it.
Next, consider the already-rooted alternative.
Then we can answer your questions...
No updates, i like to do it on my own
Will One Click Bootloader Unlock, Root, Recovery Install With Wugfresh Nexus Toolkit: @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2381698 suffice for this 2013 nexus 7 with 5.0 installed work for all that?
Nevermind, that link is still down. So im still open to any ideas or leads lol.
unlock bootloader (#4, section "To flash a system image")
install TWRP and accept its rooting offer
install SuperSU app
Done.
Thank you. However im getting bootloop. flashed razor-lrx22g and twrp-3.00-0-flo.img when i reboot to fastboot and then to recovery it simply hangs at twrp, or if i just go for a restart it hangs at the boot screen with the multicolor balls. any suggestions?
No worries at all - it is easy to fix, but why did you flash razor-lrx22g? Didn't you want root/twrp only?
Anyway, now you have to flash the image yet again and let it boot completely to Android user interface. Then do the 3(-1) steps I posted earlier.
Hello there,
I am looking for a way to install Magisk on S7 Active, since the current method provided by @miniminus triggers the secure boot and was being identified as "Custom" firmware, yet seemingly not triggering the knox bit.
Hopefully someone could shed lights on installing Magisk, as the current patched boot image cannot pass the download mode, showing "unsupport dev_type"; nor the direct patching method passes the secure boot...
Cheers,
Ivan
as far as im aware, 'custom' firmware on the boot splash, is triggered by a number of things like DM-verity error, or boot.img alterations, so having magisk confirgured may also trigger it ..
and the reason that knox hasnt been triggered, as the boot.img (current root method) used is because its a officially signed boot.img, designed for engineers....
so if you want the recovery mode (you called it download mode, which is definitely supported) when it hangs on a error, you have to wait for a few minutes for it to timeout and continue ...

Hi Miniminus,
I have the s7 active as well, but i cant find the post where you show how to install magisk. is there a way to install magisk manager so we can have systemless root? or is not possible due to our bootloader being locked?

and as it now getting uber laggy recently so i need to start updating ! .. .

I get paid tommorow, so expect a donation man! thank you for everything. im pissed off at my phone lol cant do anything on it
im still gonna be a while, its not even arrived, supposed to be arriving next week (from the USA, to the UK)
its broken and beat up, but screen is veiwable (althou smashed) with touchscreen working, its also FRP locked (easy to get around).....
but that made it cheap enough, so i didnt have to put all that much to it, and should work as a good tester platform
what are the main things you wanting to get out of magisk ? just a better/stabile/faster rooting method for apps ??

Well, The thing is, i use android pay, and use pokemon go so normal rooting doesnt work for me as I cant run those on a rooted phone, it would have o be systemless like magisk. theres a lot of bloat ware and a few apps id like to move to the system to try playing while spoofing location when is too cold to be outside (LOL) but being that s7 active's bootloader isnt even unlocked, theres no custom recovery for it. in other words is like having an iphone.:crying:
Is it working yet
Has anyone got this going before I commit to buying the s7 active?
Hi all,
I know this may seem like a n00b question, but I hope you can point me in the right direction. I have a A320FL with Android 6.0.1 - build june 28 2017, and I blocked the auto update feature, because back then I read about the advanced locking technique and want to root my phone. Since then I looked at these forums, but found it quite difficult to gather all the information to get confident enough to flash/root my phone. In the past I rooted/flashed my Sony Z1c regularly and that was easy. But for some reason flashing the A320 seems much more difficult, with more chances for it to go wrong.
I'd like to have the following:
- Android Oreo stock, twrp, rooted and Xposed (optional if possible)
I found this thread about rooting and twrp and xposed, but it's an older manual for Android 7 and I don't know if it will also work with Oreo.
Other threads talk about unlock and the security path, but I'm not sure if it applies to my situation, or not? (since I have an older installation, perhaps the advanced locking technique isn't implemented)
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You should just be able to enable OEM unlock, flash TWRP, format data in TWRP, flash no-verity- noencrypt zip, and you should be fine I think.
Okay, and then flash the last stock rom and then Magisk for root?

If you want to be on the latest update, then do it before you root. But yes, then you flash magisk after the rom after you got TWRP.. Make sure you boot up once or more before you flash magisk.
Bought this to replace an LG V20. Was really looking forward to transferring everything using Swift Backup but it requires root access. Googled for a guide or instructions but nothing. Kingo Android Root gives me Connection Server Failed, and KingRoot gives me no option to even perform the operation. Need some help here since root access opens up many of the apps that I use. Thank you!
You need to extract the boot image from an OTA, patch it in the Magisk app, and then fastboot flash boot.img after unlocking the bootloader.
Is it that easy? I got one a month back. I got the android 11 update and now it’s time to root. i have heard it was tough to root but I just really started checking for a good clean process.

Yes, it shouldn't be that hard. As long as full OTAs can be found, and the bootloader can be properly unlocked, it should just work. Lmk

Not possible. Every single update so far is a patch update that only comes with parts of files. No update so far has given the ability to get a full boot.img to patch, hence why there's no root. I have downloaded every update so far, so far no full boot.img
Also, at least on US models, there's zero ways to unlock the bootloader. I contacted their customer service about it and they stated they don't give out info on how to unlock it
Hello everyone. Would like to apologize for my English for now. write about Google Translate. Don't get my Note 10 plus rooted with Android 12 UI 4.1. Have tried a lot as soon as I restart the device root on magisk is lost. Have the current magisk 25.1 and the last original software from Samsung. Gives is somewhere a guide where works. Should I take twrp or try to root via odin.. The key combination when booting does not work either... Thanks in advance
I am also having problem unlocking bootloader and rooting. XDA new design is crap cant find anything
There is no one who has a Guide that works.
