Hi,
I installed Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 on my HTC Desire.
But I can't change my text message phone anymore. Normally, you can simply change it with settings -> sounds -> notification tone or messages -> settings -> notification tone, but even when I changed that it stayed the same.
I also tried Tone Picker from the Play Store but it still didn't change my text message tone. I choose the tone on an older ROM from Cyanogenmod so maybe that's the reaseon?
I really want to change it, because I'm getting annoyed by that sound
Does somebody know the answer?
thx
Open Messaging App
Press Menu
Choose Settings
Then Notifications (It should be checked)
Followed by Notification Settings
Select Ringtone
Done
I already did that, but it still stays the same

Well that's not the thing you said you did on your original post. Anyway, if it didn't work, full wipe and flash again.
ATT Galaxy S3, Stock ROM (4.1.1) with root.
I can't get vibration to work for notifications in non-stock apps (mainly trying to get it to work in messaging app: go sms).
In sound, I have 'sound and vibration' checked, but the test notification tool in go sms is reporting that "system vibration is off" and when running the test, it reports "Has turned on vibrate in silent mode"
I have tried putting the phone into 'vibrate' mode and 'mute' mode and comparing the settings, and from everything I see, the vibration settings seem to be correct in my system settings, but I still can't seem to get notifications to vibrate.

Try to wipe cache and davlik and fix permissions. It has worked for me before and other times not when this happened. Can't hurt to try it

Wiped the cache from recovery (didn't see an option for davlik, guessing that's for a custom recovery, and not stock?), still no vibration when using Go SMS, and starting to think (after more digging on the net) that it may be an issue with Go SMS, rather than the Galaxy S3.
I may revert back to using stock messaging for the time being (as i'm not getting as many group texts as I was when I started using go sms for that feature) until I can get this figured out or Go SMS fixes the issue if it's something wrong with the app.
Working now
I'm not sure what happened, but this morning I got a text and vibration worked though go SMS. I don't remember seeing an update come in for it, but everything is working as expected now. Woo~

I have inverse issue. I am unable to turn OFF the vibration. Permissions work all over the system except the SMS notification in Go SMS. It won't stop vibrating in any mode and in any case. I have tried all apps but unable to fix it.

At this point, I'm back to using the stock messaging app. After the upgrade to 4.2 or 4.3 (can't remember which) android has native support for group messaging, which was the only reason I was using GoSMS in the first place. I don't know that I can be much more help to you, unfortunately

Hay... I was able to fix this. I actually had inverse issue. I was unable to turn OFF vibration in Go SMS notification. It must vibrate no matter what phone status is.
It is being set here in Go SMS settings > Advanced (tab) > Notification Settings > Default Notification Settings > and look for Vibrate. Check or uncheck it according to your desire.

Were you able to fix it the way I did?
Not sure if this is the correct place to post this question. But, my text message notification ringtone suddenly stopped working. The phone vibrates when i get a text message but no sound. Which means im missing all my text messages. All other sounds seem to be working. This is happening with both the stock HTC messaging app and hangouts.
I've tried different ringtones, I've rebooted and it works for the first text message then stops.
Im using Santod's stock 6 sense rom.
Anyone have any ideas?

In the stock messaging app go to settings>Notifications and see if "play notification sound" is checked. Then in notification sound set it to the preferred sound and see if that works.
If all else fails do a clean install of the rom and you should be good to go. I am currently running the same Rom and on first boot my ringtone in sound settings was set to silent.

Thanks for the reply, everything is turned on as you suggested. I even changed the ringtone back to a HTC ringtone thinking one of my custom ringtones was causing the problem. But no change. I was trying to avoid the reset but i guess that's my only option.
Whenever I get any notification e.g. from youtube, email etc..
an audio notification sound would play
The problem is, it keeps on playing and will not stop, even after I have opened that app or dismissed that app from the lockscreen
Also how can I disable notification sound for all these type of apps?
I can't find an option in the settings.

I am getting the same thing. Have had LineageOS 15.1 on my Tab S2 for a while now with no problems. Then, for no reason I understand, it has started doing this. When a notification triggers, the sound repeats 2-3 times per second .
I have mainly noticed this in the Naviator app when it notifies 'TFR Database Updated'. This doesn't seem to be an actual system notification; instead, it is a pop-up in the app but plays (it's own?) notification sound. After the pop-up disappears, the notification continues indefinitely. I thought the issue was isolated to that app. However I had it also happen with a system notification (though I can't remember which) where, after dismissing the notification, the sound continued to repeat for another 10-15 seconds.
Any help would be appreciated. I will try wiping the dalvik and system cache to see if that helps.
How do I turn off the calendar notification sound. This option seems to be missing.
On custom ROMs with Google calendar it is possible to do this.
If I can't, since I have root can someone tell me where I can locate the default sound file that is being played by the stock OS for a calendar event. so I can delete it. I want the pop up notification without the sound.
