"Wake up" screen gestures coming to GNex?

Hi,
I would like to say that I know almost nothing about ROMs and creating them.
Recently, few new phones like for ex. HTC One (M8) launched with this cool gestures to wake up your phone. Double tap to wake, tap in the landscape mode to go into camera etc.
I am just wondering if it is possible to port such features into GNex ROM?
Thank you in advance for your answers,
Cheers,
Marcin
A lot of kernels have a double tap or swipe to wake option.

I wasn't aware.
Thank you!
Already got it working.
Gotta love HTC/lg claiming it's a NEW feature when PGM 2 AKA Touch control app does most of these gestures AND has been around for ~2 years.
LOL
Eg.
I set it to double tap or swipe up to wake up the screen, you can also enable it turn off the screen by swiping from left to right on the bottom of the screen, but I prefer assigning pie controls to do this, since often times it would accidentally turn off while gaming.

I can see right now, but I haven't seen it in any ROM I was using in the past, so I thought it is not avaiable yet :silly:
I need to start paying more attention to my kernel capabilities!

How to screenshot

How you screenshot on this phone?on my note 2 I could just swipe my hand across screen and it would screenshot. Anyone know?
Volume down plus power
Yup, this is the correct way to take a screenshot on the G4, AFAIK.
One could also tap on Quick Memo+ in the pulldown menu. This will take a screenshot and open it in Quick Memo+, allowing you to draw on it and whatnot - or just save it.

Ok thanks guys. Although it feels very awkward.... Haha
It's the standard way to take a screenshot on Android. Samsung added the slide the edge of the palm across the screen as one of their gimmicky tricks of TouchWiz. When I had the S3 and S4, it was finicky at best. It was much more reliable to press the power and volume down button.

I've owned the S4 and the S5, my wife currently has the S6 and I've NEVER been able to get a screenshot with the palm wipe BS.
I love the palm swipe Screen shot! It's very easy! However, my LgG2 is the best phone I've owned to date and I'm curious to see how the LgG4 is received. I skipped the G3 and went to note 4 so I'm watching really closely.
My main issue with the G4 will be battery.

I use Allinone Gesture and assign hold back touch button as a screenshot capture. That makes my life a lot easier.

Problem with pawitp AOSP 6.0.1 buttons issue

Let me start off by saying that this rom is so amazing. Brought back my galaxy grand duos to life. Huge difference from stock 4.2.2!!
One issue I noticed though: Press & hold home button activates recent apps AND now on tap at the same time!

and the question/problem is?
Like I said, press and hold home button is assigned for both recent app switcher AND now on tap. Which makes using now on tap impossible.

Make another 2 post and you'll be able to post/ask in the rom thread. You may have a better answer there than here, as Im not using the rom, so Im not able to provide better solution than this.
In cm12.1 under setting, there's button tab which have an option to set the button assign. See if your rom have the same option.
Edited: I just found this post, will gibe you the answer for your question.

Thanks, that was helpful.
AOSP does not have an option to change buttons. I love AOSP simplicity but the menu button is pretty useless on marshmallow. I'm trying to figure out a way to make it function as a recent app switcher instead.

I believe I read it in the aosp 6.0 thread about disabling the now on tap function, in Google setting I think. Check the link I gave, probably couple post before or after it.

Captivate and home button on side of screen?

Just got a used Note 10.1 2014 and the first thing buggin me is when using the Note I find it it difficult with the captivate and home button along the bottom. Is there an app that can move them to the right or left side of the screen? While holding it in landscape mode it just seems to make sense.

Have you tried pie control? Its a cool menu app that you can configure in any number of ways. If its not to your liking just search for "soft keys" in the play store and you will have many apps to choose from that are intended to do exactly what your looking to do. Some will require a rooted device, others won't. Pie control is a wonderful menu alternative and I know you can put soft keys in it too. heres a link for it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jun.ace.piecontrol

Is double tap to turn off screen possible

As the title suggests is it possible to double tap on empty area of Home Screen to turn the phone off just like we use Double tap to wake the phone.
This was an inbuilt feature on Asus Zenfone 5z and seems counter intutive to have only one option to turn the screen on and not off here.
Regards
One option; with Nova launcher
Yes, likely via custom ROMs.
Also, probably via custom launchers. Nova Prime allows double-tap to "lock screen". Double tap to "screen off" very likely via a specific 'Nova activities' option but I haven't figured this out yet.
EdXposed ---> install GravityBox ---> it's then possible to turn screen off via double-tap on lock screen or via double-tap on status bar.

You can use edge screen. SoftKey Edge. There is a lock option. It is not double tap but it works.
you can add the screen off icon at navigation bar with a samsung app called Navstar, with that you can single tap to turn off the screen
Good Lock - Navstar adds a navigation button to turn the screen off

I dont see any gestures for that in nova launcher?
You must have the prime license, in gestures&inputs there are multiple options to choose from, for each gesture you can choose any action available, you can even have the same action assigned to multiple gestures, I use one finger down to lock, and also double tap to lock

As i already have Nova prime, this worked perfectly. Thanks.
Nice just learned something new. Used nova star and added screen off and notification bar button. Now I have 5 buttons readily available.
Wish you could open and app with a button. That way I can reserve the power double tap for another app.

Feeling seriously numb right now. I've used Nova (Prime) for years, and never knew that was there. Searched all over for a good program to sleep/ lock. Found a very simply one (Screen Lock Widget 1.0) which is no longer available, but I have. Works great. No resources used. But having the ability in Nova is great.
So.....thank you for sharing that. It's the simple things in life.
It makes no sense why Samsung would give us the means to tap awake our screen but not add that option to turn it off.
That was a weird decision for not including double tap to sleep. It's like making an automatic car with clutch where the clutch is only used for the reverse lol.
Anyhow, this is by far the best app on the playstore that can put the phone sleep and still use the default One UI.
The nice thing about it is that you can also tap on the status bar to put the phone to sleep while using an app for instance.
Tripe tap on the home screen is recommended though, you'll understand why after using it for a while

That is very interesting, I never use always on display and it seems like the Note 10 has a lot of issues. For instance Samsung voice recorder app doesn't play recorded audios while the screen off( stops playing after 2min or so).

I just tried Nav Star app from within Good Lock (From Samsung App store) and added 2 extra buttons.
Thanks to the user who recommended it earlier, now I can turn off phone as well pullbdown notification bar from the Navigation bar, if I can get used to these extra buttons I might as well keep them.
Yes software wise they do need to improve a lot of things here.
1. First Install Good Lock :
http://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.samsung.android.goodlock
2. Then Install Nav Star : http://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.samsung.systemui.navillera
Well, very useful indeed, but I prefer hiding the nav bar, just to avoid screen burn in and to get some more screen area
