Long boot time - Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Questions & Answers

My unlocked Mi Max 3 stays around 4 minutes on the first boot screen
and shows that it is unlocked.
Afterwards it continues with regular boot and works fine.
What could be the reason for the 4 minute delay?

Hi,
If you don't have a partition very full and many applications installed, I think it might be encryption, or SD card very slow too. When installing a new rom, try twrp formatting the partition.
Good luck.

App2SD SD partition problem.

I tried several times to partition my SD card for App2SD with gParted.
I have a SanDisk 8GB.
Partition1: FAT23, 6 GB, Primary
Partition2 (App2SD): I tried ext2,3 and four, all of which did not work.
1GB, Primary.
My phone did not boot when I made the ext partition.
I would use CWM to partition your SDCard, any boot up problems are obviously down to the ROM you are using

Maybe the boot takes some time (about 10 minutes, depends on how many apps you installed), because all installed getting moved to the a2sd-partion of your sd-card.

Well, I repartitioned and installed a new ROM (LeeDroid) and it still doesn't boot.
It stays on the screen with the HTC logo.

I doubt that because both the times I added the partition, I had just installed a fresh ROM. Again it stays on the screen with the HTC logo.

Would it be a problem with my phone or my SD card ?
Thanks for the help guys.
Turns out MatDrOiD was right. I let it boot for about 5-10 mins and it started.

EDIT:
Well. My phone boots up now, but it doesn't seem that apps are being installed on my SD card. It still shows internal Memory as 136 MB and when I install an app, it lowers.

[Q] Strange problem after changing sdcard

Hi all..
I'm having a very strange problem after changing my sdcard.. I had a 4GB microSD with 512MB of EXT3 ... I was using Runnymede AIO V3 rom with ad2sdx mod then after installing some apps I saw that my memory is low because the Rom files had got all my ext3 memory.. so I bought a 16GB microSD and made a 2GB EXT4 partition then I restored my nandroid backup from the previous microSD.. but I faced such a strange problem.. Its here: If you want to boot your device you should boot it three times.. !!!! the first boot goes on and then It gets stuck in the lockscreen and not answering to touches nor any buttons.. then the second boot goes well also.. it doesn't stuck in lock screen but it gets stuck while Im trying to enter my pattern-based lock code.. so restarting again... In the third boot everything goes well and the phone is back up with 1.5 GB of free internal storage.. seems that we managed to boot.. but it's too early for a conclusion .. lets try the boot process again.. what? It gets stuck in lock screen again.. and the whole three boots process starts from the beginning .. It's strange because if it manages to boot correctly once IT SHOULD DO THAT AGAIN EVERY TIME.. the thing I guess is that the problem is from the OC Daemon app which is pre-installed in this rom and if you change the values wrong It will mess with the CPU and it won't boot right for some time.. I have the experience but the point is that , this time the values are the default ones and I don't change them.. so it should boot properly.. Im kinda amazed. because I have installed a lot of roms for like 100 times and on a thousand phones but I never had any problem like this...
I can give you the logcat of the unsuccessful boot attempts if you want..

Your EXT-partitions do not have the same size before and after the backup. So backup all apps with Titanium Backup, partition your SD card again, wipe everything, flash ROM again and then restore everything with Titanium Backup.
Swyped from ICS with Transparent XDA App
hey.. thx for your fast reply.. but does that matter? as I know and have a little knowledge about linux the mouting script doesn't vary from size to size.. so where is the size problem from? as I mount my sd-ext in my Ubuntu laptop I see that recovery has restored it fully.. and something else that I need my contacts , contact pictures (which are synced with Facebook), and Text messages so I can't fully wipe it.. As i see now the boot attempts have reduced.. It boots up successfully in the second boot.. ) Giant Leap Though!!
Your contacts and their pictures can be backed up by syncing with Google account, the SMS with SMS Backup & Restore.
And never ask for help and if you get an answer, doubt the answer without any good reason!

[Q] HTC Desire Runnymede AIO V6.1.1 Reboots into Flash Screen Loop

Hi all,
Noob alert, I found one other person with the same problem (see Smithyster's post #11374 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315961 ), however there are no replies.
HTC Desire
S-Off
CM7r2 h-boot
4ext touch recovery paid app.
32GB lexar class 10
1.5gb ext4
no swap partition
Runnymede AIO V6.1.1 - INT2SD-S
Installation was as follows:
Full wipe of phone, dalvik and cache
G-part format and partition of 32gb sd card, fat32 followed by 1.5GB ext4
Flash the rom from sd root using 4ext recovery.
once the rom was installed:
I signed into gmail acc
I made sure fastboot in power settings was disabled
I rebooted to recovery and from recovery rebooted the phone
I then let the rom settle.
I then restored from titanium and mybackup.
I changed startup flash screen to the beats audio snowstorm animation from the rom download page.
All was working very nicely, super impressed after having used leedroid and insertcoin, however after about 4 days use for no apparent reason the phone rebooted into a flash screen loop. I would enter sim pin, phone would boot, connect then it would reboot again. As Smithyster states even if pin was not entered the phone would reboot into flash screen loop .
Eventually after trying reboot from recovery, power off from recovery, entering recovery from h-boot and rebooting, leaving battery out for half hour - h-boot - recovery - reboot i somehow managed to get the phone to load and run .
However last night after no problems for a few days it happened again and after trying all the above plus wiping cache and then wiping Dalvik this time nothing worked, it just stayed in a reboot loop .
Luckily i had taken a nandroid a few days ago and the restore worked fine .
Can anyone help as to why this might occur?
1.5gb ext4 seems to be the max so maybe smaller partition will avoid the problem, (I'll make it smaller anyway and post whether this has helped)?
Would the change in flash screen animation have anything to do with it?
Hope you can help,
Cheers.

[Q] Type password to decrypt storage after a failed attempt to partition ROOTED

4.2.2 on a rooted, unlocked One X
I was using Minitools Partition, with the device mounted to PC, in CWM, I followed some fairly simple instructions, which called for me to delete the original partition (25GB) which I did, I then set 3GB Ex2 (for apps to sd card) and the rest 22GB FAT32. THat all seemed to work fine.
BUT now I am now being asked to "type encryption password" every time I boot the phone, what format should the SD card be? Have I got the partitions wrong? SD card will no longer mount in recovery, plus I cant get pass this screen (password request) when turned on. The ROM is loading, to request this password, its happening after the X, perhaps my instructions where wrong from the beginning?
These are the ones I used,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning
Things I have tried,
1 changing the format and partitions of sd card, to everything you can think of (eg 2GB FAT, 1GB Ex2, 21GB FAT32)
2 Wipe data/ factory reset, in recovery
3 Flashed boot.img to device, in bootloader.
4 fastboot format userdata, in bootloader (something i read in a thread)
3 Factory reset, in bootloader.
Nothing, the ROM still loads, up until this screen with an option for emergency calls, dialer does appear so ROM is fine? CWM works fine, however as you might expect I cant mount SD card in recovery and needless to say I just cant get passed this password request screen.. I feel like if I try and wipe system and flash the ROM again, ill just come up against the same problem, or worse just brick my device, as I cant load any Zip files.... which has only just dawned on me, any ideas people?
many thanks
Tim.
I have the same issue on my HTC ONE XL ATT ... but my phone randomly rebooted and when it turned on it got to DECRYPT STORAGE, i didnt even do anything... and i really dont feel like re-installing my rom ... idk what to do exactly now. i can boot up into recovery and access all my files but i dont know what happened...
same issue here with galaxy nexus after installing 4.2.2, ive tried odin, fastboot, everything but after the phone reboots loads the same os and it reboots a few seconds later.

UK Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T 3GB RAM 32GB SPACE - Lost TWRP and ROOT - Recommend a ROM

I have a UK Redmi Note 8T with 3GB of RAM, 32GB Internal Space and 64GB SD Card - About 6 months ago I managed to unlock the boot loader, install TWRP and install Magisk so it can be rooted. Rooting allowed me to use Airfrozen App to freeze apps from running in the background which helped a lot since this phone only has 3gb of RAM which isn't a lot for Miui - I only have 1GB free of RAM without any apps running.
But last night I think I selected the wrong option in the menu and it seemed to download Miui 11 from the Xiaomi servers and now TWRP and root is gone. Everything looks the same but none of my frozen apps can be unfrozen, unless I go into the google Playstore and do it from there.
I believe my phone in encrypted as when I start it or previously went into TWRP is asked me to draw the pattern to unlock the phone.
Questions
1. If I want to reinstall TWRP will I have to wipe everything off of my phone and start from fresh?
2. Do I have to do some special procedure to install TWRP because it is encrypted? When I installed TWRP 6 months ago I don't remember it being encrypted at the time as I'm sure it didn't ask me to put in my pattern in TWRP - I don't mind wiping my phone and starting from fresh. I just want to use whichever procedure is least likely to brick my phone - even if it means totally resetting the phone and wiping everything.
3. Given I only have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of Internal Space - What ROM would people recommend other than Miui that would run more smoothly and where al sensors like GPS, Camera, etc work as well as in Miui?
4. How is the phone encrypted in the first place? I don't remember selecting any options to encrypt the phone when I first set it up.
Incredible! So far as I know,4g ram is the minimum capacity。
1. reinstall TWRP just flash recovery partion, wipe not necessary, but you have to install magisk or other patch to avoid stock rom change your twrp to original recovery。
2. encrypted just for data partion, but if work abnormally wiping your phone。just backup your imprtant things (ie. precious photos),rom can be reflash from fastboot mode
3. just debloatware, and freeze the apps which you use seldom
4. i think the phone encrypted was the process that check security
sorry for my poor english express...
