There are quite a few people saying that Google Play store apps malfunction on the Honor 9X, even saw a video where the icons were being pressed on many apps, but it kept crashing to the home screen. The Kirin 810 is a state of the art chip at this price point, easily beating everything else., however the lack of a bootloader, and custom roms are a real hindrance since Huawei announced they won't be releasing those any more. Is it worth getting the 9X knowing all this, or should one just get a SD 712 like Z1 Pro? I'd get the RealMe X but the 710 is quite a bit inferior to the 712, struggling to get 155k when the Z1 is clocking 185k on antutu, plus the lack of expandable memory is a big problem with everything getting exponentially bigger every other year. Not to mention it's already a year old and if either is going to get more efficient it's the 712 with updates here n there. What do you guys think?
honor 9x with google services would be nice. I use gpay and it doesn't work without passing safetynet (i think). Had there been any custom rom for this phone...i would buy it. But, Realme X2 with snapdragon 730g is selling for 1499 yuan. or realme q for 998 yuan during initial sale with snap 712. and both phones charge fast.
honor 9x is a no without google services and custom rom dev.

What phone do you suggest for the future? I'm disappointed with Zenfone 2 ZE551ML 4GB, bad materials, bad support, ridiculous battery life and bad space management (phone is too big).
My priority are battery (not necessary a battery phone, but at least 6-7 hours of display), good camera (I want support for real slow motion, not the ZF2 one ) , good design (I would prefer a 5-5.2") and good software support.
My budget is 400€ and I need phones that I can found on Amazon (so don't suggest me phones like OP3 that are on Amazon at 100€ more).
Thanks
I was thinking about ZUK Z2 & Z2 Pro as my next phone after ZF2. Generally because it's smaller than 5.5" and probably should have similar performance.
This choice is made based on specifications from the web. I still need to check some reviews for this phone.
Maybe someone can say anything about this phone?
Or Galaxy S8 Edge + Gear Vr,, or nothing

The problem is that these phones like Zuk, Xiaomi and these "not top" brands, are not selling officially in Italy and they don't support 800Mhz (band 20) for 4G LTE, used a lot here, expecially where I live and with my carrier..so I need a "more european" brand, to have full 4G support.
I am thinking of the 5.5 inch Zenfone 3. I have been very happy with my ze551ml.

P9000 is not really better than ZF2, at least the 4 Gb version (unless you're badly looking for a fingerprint unlockable phone).
I used a P8000 before and although it's a nice phone, Mediatek processors are less powerful than other manufacturers' equivalent cpu's. If you take Antutu Benchmark as a reference (yes, we all know it can be faked, but it serves its purpose as a reference, and a way to compare two phones) P9000 scores between 45k and 47k, while my ZF2, which is the 1.8 Ghz version, scores between 55k and 57k. P9000 wouldn't be such a step forward, unless your ZF2 is broken beyond repair.
I'd stick to ZF2 until something significantly more powerful and affordable comes around. I've already seen some 6 Gb RAM phones, also with 128 Gb storage, but definitely not in the same price range as the ZF2.

OnePlus 3
ZTE Axon 7
Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe
LeEco Le Max 2
LeEco Le Pro 3
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
Sony XA Ultra
Nexus 6
Motorola Moto X Pure
I sincerely felt ZF2 not really worth the price , the hardwares are high spec but softwares are ****.
I got mine in June last year and as still pleased with it. Worth the price to me.

I'll not purchase ASUS anymore period.
I replace it with an Galaxy S7 duos (flat screen version), cost near twice but it's the best android phone available despite Pixel XL hype, the S7 is the fastest water proof dual sim better display, much smaller than the asus and pixel XL, features Knox and multitasking and Samsung voice recognition its available in Spanish and while not as funny as the assistant does very well when I'm driving, also read messages and emails features not available in Spanish from Google asistant o now. Ahh the S7 also includes HR sensor and wireless charging and cost 300 less than a pixel XL.
I can't find one with better specs than the Zenfone 2 and with the ability to use two sim cards and an sd card at the same time .

Yea there are, the Moto G4 has a dual sim version I don't know if can use the sd slot the same time but includes 64 internal storage android 7 and 0 bloat.
I don't use the sd slot often with 32gb its far enough to me even I have 3 games and 10gb+ in mp3, and when I need video for long trips I just plug an mini otg-usb pendrive.
But there is an mod for the S7 that allows simultaneously use the SD and two sim but implies devastating one sim that can't be uses on other phone anymore.

Moto G4 has only 2gb ram it does has a dedicated sd card slot though :good: but spec wise it's not as good as the zenfone 2 imo.

FYI Moto G4 has versions from 2GB/32gb 5HD" to 4GB/64GB" 5.5HD +fingerprint reader from 150$ (G4play) to 300$ (G4+), in some markets is offered with Dual-Sim feature, and spec-off its an high quality build phone, absolutely reliable with the fastest updated among non-nexus phones, even I considered it at last moment instead the S7.

Moto G4 plus Google says 4GB only on sale via Amazon in the UK checking Amazon I'm finding 3GB at £245 so when the 4GB version is out I'm thinking it will probably be north of £300.
One to keep an eye on though:good:
Got the missus a vernee thor for 80GBP , comes with MM out the box and just put AOSP 7.1 on it for her from M.A.D team, here on XDA .
Nippy device 3GB ram and...... MTK of all chipsets

go for xiaomi mi5 or zenfone 3 deluxe. i am using xiaomi mi5. believe me its best.
Hi guys
I'll try to make this short. I lost my Redmi Note 5 Pro (which I loved) and now I need a new phone. I stumbled upon the Honor 7x while searching for an alternative. You should know that I never bought a Huawei phone, I only used high end devices from Samsung, OP, LG and recently been using Xiaomi phones. I had a very bad experience with the Redmi Note 4 with its MTK SoC, since I LOVE flashing custom ROMs and doing all sort of new stuff with my device (rooting, xposed, theming..etc).
How is development doing for this device? Will I be able to easily unlock my bootloader, install TWRP and flash custom ROMs?
Also, how is battery life? and does the Kirin SoCs overheat and thermal throttle like MTK while gaming?
How is the overall smoothness of this phone (on official ROM)? No lags or some lags?
I'd really appreciate it if someone of you could provide some useful inputs based on your experience with this phone.
Thanks!
If you're type of person who loves to flash mods like Gcam,ViperForAndroid.prefer having tons of ROMs, smooth Gaming Experience Then a big No. Considering Honor 7x on Oreo is treble enabled you can surely flash gsi and Openkirin gsi yet none of them having VOLTE. Development on Kirin Soc is just bare bones. Speaking of EMUI is pretty good if you prefer Customs Skins over stock android. Speaking of battery gives Average 6-7 SOT.
Suggestion: if you're in hurry then get zenfone max pro else wait for Mi max 3, Nokia X6 , Mi A2 they are launching soon in indian markets.

Omg I love the Asus zenfone max pro! It seems such a great device for the price of less than 200$. But I can't seem to find it anywhere aside from flipkart or ebay (overpriced). I'm not an indian so I can't order it from flipkart. Do you know if it will be sold in the future on aliexpress or another international website?
OnePlus is the way to go. Get the 5T or the 6, both are very fine devices. Heck, even the OP3 (and 3T) are still good today.
If you like to tweak devices then this is for you. This phones hardware potential is ridiculous. The silicone is just a great piece of engineering and you can install some ROMS. Developers will make more because they know how good the hardware, not to mention the great price tag.

You mean sources for this device are now available for devs to create custom ROMs?

I'm not sure if sources are available, but Huawei is normally pretty good at releasing such things.
According to this URL: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/open...Type=openSourceSoftware&pageSize=10&curPage=1
If you search 'BND', you'll see "7X,BND,EMUI5.1,Android7.0"
What I meant originally was, the Honor 7X is an INCREDIBLE phone at an incredible price, lots of customization/tweaking options. I personally have lineage OS beta 4 installed.

1. I'm not a developer so I don't know, there are only a handful of custom OS you can download ATM.
2. Huawei provides you with a bootloader code to easily unlock the bootloader.
3. The trick with TWRP is you need to beable to install a TWRP that does decryption. Reason being is the Honor 7x, I don't know if its the entire phone.. it probably is... but I know for a fact some parts are encrypted, and you can't make a TWRP backup unless your TWRP can handle decryption. I tried to install a TWRP with decryption thats suppose to work for our phone, but I got some kind of error (I didn't write it down, but the error basically meant that it didn't work). The TWRP with decryption thats available was made for another Huawei phone thats suppose to work for the 7x. One thing you could try, would be to decrypt the phone, and then see if you can make a TWRP backup. Theres a few ways to do that: 1. TWRP>Format Data. 2. fastboot erase userdata 3. Theres probably a GUI way to do it in Settings>Security&Privacy>Encryption&Credentials>Encrypt Phone.
4. Battery life, Its way better than the Honor 5x. I haven't had my phone for very long, so I can't tell you the real world battery results. My battery menu says I have 7 days left of battery if that tells you anything. My Honor 5x got 4 days max, and this phone I know beats it... so my estimate is 5 days of battery for my usage. I'm pretty sure that Oreo has made improvements as far as battery. I looked at catlog in realtime, there wasn't hardly any activity going on unless you did something. On my Honor 5x there was always activity going on regardless.
5. I haven't played any games yet, So I don't know about SOC temps while under load. I've read on other posts that Kirin SOCS temps are good. Right now mines sitting at 29 celcius, which is excellent!
6. On official ROM, I only played with it for a short while, it seemed smooth. Now its not as smooth as iPhone, but I felt like it was just about as smooth as an android is gonna get.
Hey guys,
I have checked tons of youtube reviews and online reviews on the devices but for the first time in my life I am stuck to take one of these phones. I had mostly used bigger smart phones since the android era, like Sony Z ultra, Mi max etc .
I need to get one of these phones immediately, PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR HONEST opinion.
I think Poco X2 is a better choice.
It has better screen (120Hz vs 90Hz) and much better community support (custom kernel, ROM, etc).
Especially for community support, Realme is still FAR BEHIND Xiaomi.
Realme 6 Pro still got no bootloader unlock while Poco X2 already had several custom ROM and kernel available right freaking now.
I'd stay away from realme if they still being a b*tch like this, that's how disappointed I am with my 6 pro.

If you want better cus rom support and a better primary sensor then X2. There isn't much of a difference. 120hz gives a tiny bit of more smoothness in scrolling other wise you'll be stuck on 60hz on most of the interface. This high refresh rate thing is a new gimmick just like quad camera where 2 of the sensors are useless (macro & depth). Atleast the 6pro has a telephoto lens. Also poco x2 with 120hz drains battery faster. 720G and 730G are mostly similar in terms of performance. Ad situation is a lot better on Realme as u will have to turn off one single toggle and all ads are gone.
I have used stock android most of life and I hated the idea of a custom skin but realme ui is good (after disabling a few coloros apps) and you will get used to the ui in 2-3 days and it feels a lot more smooth and polished, even though a few options are missing.
Normally the Pro versions have good cusrom support but realme didn't allow bl unlock yet, once they do there will be some roms on the way as sources are released already (I think, not completely sure).
i've just noticed that a known site is offering the umidigi s5 pro at 170 euro.... 173 shipped to europe and i was impressed by the specs of that device, same g90t soc of this xiaomi.... BUT amoled screen, 4680mah battery, 40mpx,6gb ram, 256gb ufs 2.1
and last, POPUP cam like mi9t !
i'm really excited that prices for these specs are coming for under 200euro....it seems impossible to me, but it's a shame that the only one custom rom supported g90t phone is ONLY the note 8 pro.
maybe someone could really appreciate to jump developing roms for the umidigi phone.... i would never buy a phone without custom rom support but by heart is crying when i see at 170euro all these great specs, but stuck with STOCK rom
I just got a deal (589 Euro) & bought Vivo x80 Pro 12/256 Gb, new, full box. Mine is global with FuntouchOS & SnapDragon processor.
Beautifull phone. Very nice design. Is a little slippery.
The phone have protecion on the screen from factory. I don't like curved screen. At all ! But i can live with it.
Comming from Oneplus (since 2015) i was afraid of difference of OS. But Funtouch have all those gestures/features that i like on OxygenOS.
Phone have a lot of bloatware. I uninstalled almost all of them. remaining 2, 3 i force stop & disabled.
The camera is considerably better than Oneplus.
Funtouch OS 13 works fine for me. I was nervous about bluetooth on A13. On Oxygen 13 not working. But on Vivo works fine.
I want to buy a 50w Vivo wireless charger, to save usb port.
Before this Vivo x80 Pro i use 8, 9 days a Samsung s22 Ultra, european (Exynos creap). S22 is a little puke, garbage compared to x80! The internet was full of horrible advertising. I try dns.adguard.com, Adaway, Blokada, nextdns. With any of these internet was a nightmare ! Slow like a 2010 phone. Bleah !!! Why the hell this garbage costs 1200 euro?..
Honestly, the x80 pro with Dim9000 and origin os is the best phone I've ever had. Why?
- best camera I've ever had
- incredible charging time
- no battery drain at all (I'm getting nearly 2 days out of the battery: reddit, messenger, camera, youtube, web browsing, stock monitoring, podcasts - I'm not a hardcore user)
- bloatware is removable
- fast as oneplus
- chinese version with call recording function
I've never been keen on notifications all day - it's me having the control when to look at the phone, do not want to get disturbed the whole day with notification pop-ups. I have never used google car or hey google commands. All issues have been tackled by Vivo. The only thing what makes me nervous: it's chinese hardware... let's see where politics head the next years.
Before you buy a Vivo, you need to be interested in getting to know the settings in detail - you need to understand the energy saving settings and other stuff, so Vivo is not working like an iPhone "out of the box" - but this is also a great opportunity to learn more about the operating system...
Phone history:
Samsung S2
Samsung Note 4
iPhone 6
iPhone 6s
Oneplus 5/iPhone 11
Vivo x80 pro
-> After Oneplus and Vivo I will never go back to Samsung. Worse than iPhone.
