Hello all, I was planning on getting the Note 10 plus international to use on ATT in the US. The reason being is because the Exynos has support for rooting and custom roms. My question is if i were to purchase the international version, what would be the difference between the 5G and regular 4G? Would the 5G work in the US? Regular bands seems identical on both devices, but would the 5g also work once they are available?

This is up to you if you want too future proof the device with getting 5h or not so? I recall 5g will be rolling out slowly in the US.
Thats the idea, but will it actually work? On att in the US if I purchase the international 5g model?
Ps. Is the snapdragon versions still an issue to install custom roms?
I don't know if it's important for you, but the 5g model is single sim only. Dual sim is only available on the 4g version.
Had the dual sim for my note 8 because of availability, but I do not have a need for the dual sim. Just was curious as to the band compatibility of 5g because i cant find anywhere where it states that the european 5g is the same as us 5g

Question is the same as the title, are there other users on XDA who have considered upgrading or buying the Snapdragon Dual Sim Note 10+ over the N975F?. I am aware of the general uniqueness of the Hong Kong/Latin American/Brazilian Snapdragon devices as they have unlocked bootloaders compared to their US and Canadian counterparts. I've been doing research on these phones ever since I knew of the existence of the HK Note 8.
Development wise these N9xx0 devices don't see much development due to the rarity/relative uniqueness of these versions, but I was curious if anyone was checking for this to use instead of the Exynos Note 10+ in the US, Canada, UK, Australia and the rest of the world. I'm particularly interested in hearing from people on AT&T, T-Mobile and their respective MVNOs as I am considering getting this one to use on MetroPCS. In terms of bands I wonder if it will work out of the box similar to a user who had his Hong Kong S10+ work on T-Mobile with Wi-Fi calling/VoLTE even with the TGY CSC.
If they have an oem Bootloader Unlock like the S10's did I will definitely be getting that model over the F. There is still a shocking distance between the two chips in benchmarks, the snapdragon versions performing 20% better than the exynos versions. I will hold out for some extended use testing to come out, but it seems unlikely to change the data much. I need as much performance as I can get from my chip, and I don't really need custom roms to achieve a smooth workflow or customized experience.

BTW I don't worry much about bands with any of the new flagships coming out. You can verify on frequency checker, but most phones these days come with the same modems in all models. My last phone was a Chinese model Mate 20 X and it had no problem with international roaming on Google fi and got 4g on any chip I threw at it.
Idont know where you plan to use your device, but in many forums of other samsung devices, people getting devices from other countries, have sometimes problems regarding bands, carrier services, software updates, and most important no way to claim warranty
Mainland China = SG chip / 5G / 256gb / dual sim / limited bands
Hong Kong = SG chip / LTE only / 512gb / dual sim / limited bands
US unlocked = SG chip / LTE only / 512gb / single sim / full bands
In my case, I want dual sim but HK version doesn’t have LTE 66 and 71 which T-Mobile uses. So I am still debating.

I'm using N975F and it has dual sim
The Verizon Note 10+ 5G has the older, inferior X50 modem, which is said to overheat and have issues with 4G/5G handoffs. The T-Mobile variant has the X55 modem which is said to be much more stable. Would one be able to take a T-Mobile variant, unlock it, flash a Verizon CSC and have it be fully functional? I know that Samsung is not selling an Unlocked variant, but I'd also be curious to see what CSC's the T-Mobile variant supports. I also looked at the AT&T variant but notice it doesn't support LTE Band 13.
You could use it, but you'll not get the 5G from my understanding. The T-Mobile Note 10 plus 5G only has sub-6 frequencies, where Verizon only uses mmWave.

Exynos is probably best for root since they can all be rooted, as for dual SIM I don't think any 5G variant has it, so I would assume for dual SIM you would need a non network branded 4G variant if you want dual SIM, or at least that is the case in Europe.

I was kinda between Note 20 Ultra and Note 10+. Am I correct to to understand that if I need Root, I would need Exynos - and the 5G bands of China Global wouldnt work with the North american one and on top, paying that extra for the same Exynos chip is not worth it, so better off with Note 10+
Note 20 Ultra HK Snapdragon has Dual Sim but its rooting is rare - and its 5G bands work in Caanda
Note 20 Ultra US/Canada version has no Dual Sim and rooting is not possible
Note 20 Ultra China Global and Dual Sim + Root but has same chip and 5G bands wont work = Seeing this, should I get Exynos Note 10+ instead so it's actually worth it

The phone does not support some of T-Mobile's LTE bands, and it does not seem to support any of their current 5G bands. Is there any way to change this with CSC changes or any other trickery?
Would AT&T be better for any of this?
When I use the Samsung band selector app, I see that NR B41 is supported. This is the Sprint spectrum that T-Mobile is repurposing, correct? Does that mean additional 5G and LTE coverage once the rollout is complete?
Another user was having problems enabling carrier aggregation. Is there a way of doing this?

You can't change to a US CSC on your device. Some users are reporting 5G works only on SIM2. Carrier Aggregation isn't compatible in the US with the SM-G9880. I have the Hong Kong variant on T-mobile and 4G LTE works fine.

Would you happen to know if our imei works with 5g on t mobile? I just switched last month from att. On att, you would have to call and give an att imei in order for 5g to work and I'm wondering if t mobile is the same way or if it works out of the box with our imei.
Also, I have an SD card and seems like I cannot have a Sim on slot 2 and an SD at the same time, do you happen to know if an esim will get 5g?

That's a question for T-mobile. It's not a question of your IMEI, it's whether or not your device's available 4G and 5G bands are compatible with T-mobile. I don't know what model you have but if it's a US model eSim isn't available on S20 devices. Only Exynos devices have eSim capabilities.

I have the same model that's been on topic... The SM-G9880...
SM-G9880 isn't eSim enabled, only Exynos variants offer this. 5G may work, take it to your local T-mobile store and see if they can set it up. Often times information coming from a CSR over the phone isn't reliable. If it worked with AT&T on SIM 1 T-mobile it MAY work as well however many users have stated it only works on SIM 2. Even though T-mobile's 5G network has a larger coverage area they can't match the speed of AT&T's mmWave network.

I know that some people were trying to enable eSIM on rooted Snapdragon S20 Ultra devices. Did anything ever happen with that?

If you root the device I suppose it's possible to override an eSim block on the SM-G9880 but I'm not aware of anyone achieving it. The only Snapdragon variant which offers eSim at this time is the Galaxy Fold. I don't understand what the value of eSim is on a Dual SIM device. Even if you travel to a different country it's a simple choice, keep the SD Card in or use both SIM's and rely on internal memory for storage.
Did anyone try using BRI CSC to see if CA works in the USA?
I am considering purchasing the OnePlus 9 or 9 Pro. As a longtime T-Mobile customer I want to know if the International version of the phone is 100% compatible with T-Mobile. I have read on some web sites that there are frequency bands missing on the International version that are supported on the T-Mobile version. I would prefer to buy the International version because updates would come sooner. Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks!
Yes, my last 2 Global OnePlus's works great with tmobile usa including 5g...
I used 3T, 5, 6T, 7Pro and 8Pro international version with TMO sim and no issues. All works great (in my area) including 5G. (not sure about the SA band on OnePlus though, only recently updated my sim card and 5G SA works on my international S21 Ultra).
You'll have to make sure you get a model with the right bands when it comes out.
I always buy from the manufacture. The mobile cell providers always have to add their crummy annoying software tweaks.
I do not case which one as long as custom recovery and custom rom are available
I'm also a long time T-Mobile customer, and I will always buy from the manufacturer going forward. T-Mobile puts too much crapware on the phones. I also like to root and mod my device, and it's a real pain to do that on a T-Mobile device.
Been on TMo for ages. Still will alway sbuy the unlocked international version.
