I have a Google version Pixel 2 XL that is BL unlocked and rooted with Magisk. I have a rooted S8 on Vzw and I use Wifi Tether Router and VPN for my hotspot. I bought the Pixel 2 XL to replace my S8 and use as my hotspot. I have made the needed changes to get the hotspot to work on the Pixel, but it will not work and all with the Wifi Tether Router app. I have contacted the creator of the app and he said my issue is with Magisk and that I should uninstall and root with SuperSu. Are there any other apps that can redirect all hotspot traffic through VPN?
I was told many people have rooted Pixel 2 XL with SuperSu. I have tried flashing the latest stable SuperSu zip and also the lastest (I could find) betas, 2.82(SR1 and SR5), and they all failed. Can someone help me root the phone using SuperSu?

I've had the P2XL since release. The only root method currently available is magisk. Don't know where you heard that about SU, but all the rom and kernel Devs have said that magisk is the only thing that works. ?
I was told that by the app developer. Now I have more issues...I've bricked my phone and can't get past the Google logo on boot. I have flashed the boot, bootloader, modem, system, system other, etc and it's still bricked. I'm getting the "corrupt device" message.
Use the flash all bat file in the factory image zip. If you have data you want to save, open the flash all bat file with notepad or the like and remove the, "<sp>-w" from the file and save it. This is a moot point if you haven't unlocked critical.
Unzip the factory image, but not the zip file inside, and move it all to where your fastboot is located. And run the flash-all.bat file.

If you have a backup of the month your on stock in twrp you may be able to get out of it. If not your most likely going to have to flash the factory image with the W in it do a full wipe. you're not bricked though I've been where you're at many times
Did flash-all...Had my hopes up but got error "cannot generate image for userdata". Still getting the "corrupt device". Boots to Google screen and stuck there.
I'm not concerned with any data on it. It's only 4 days old..LOL!

remove the -w from the script, or the command if you are doing it manually.
it should flash, then do a factory reset after it boots normally (if you want, I would recommend it to clean it up). Of course if there is anything you want saved off the device, grab it before you reset.
Thanks for the help on the brick situation. I used Deuces' script and it's working fine now. I think I'm going to lock the BL and sell it since I can't use it for what I intended.

Has anyone figured out how to use Tether on there Magisk rooted Pixel?
Hi all, I recently rooted my phone and for some reason Netflix won't launch at all. It just hangs on the Netflix logo. If I reninstall the app on first launch the app will force close and then after re-lauch it will once again hang on the Netflix logo. I've cleared the cache and deleted any folders relating to netflix. I'm not sure what to try next or if anyone has any advice on how to fix this that would be amazing. thank you!
Edit: I've found a solution to this problem! Follow this guide here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ap...le-netflix-t3708126/post74586497#post74586497
After downloading and installing the old April 2017 Netflix app simply lauch
The app and sign in. After you have signed in update the app on Google play
And you should be good to go! Hope this helps anyone else with the same
Issue ?
Netflix doesn't work on rooted deviced it checks if your device is rooted and if so won't work.

I've had Netflix work on every previous rooted phone i have had, is this just a Razer phone issue? Even hiding the root from Netflix in Magisk doesn't seem to do anything.

The bootloader needs to be locked. I would not advise trying it unless the phone is 100% stock as there have been issues mentioned in the past.

It's either root or bootloader it checks but it's only something they started doing months ago. pokemon go does it too.

Damn, that's discouraging. No wonder why I've been holding off rooting this device. I'm not use to a/b root anyway. Before my razer, I had an s5 for many years so I know a lot of things have changed since then.
It's been already 3-4 days where I'm flashing, bricking and restoring my phone, all this for a crappy gcam... But anyway, after first flash I see that OTA updates are ****ed up, but that's ok, Netflix still works just fine. Fast forwarding to today, I flash again stock ROM after being stuck without touchscreen on TWRP, but this time weirdly enough OTA updates work just fine, in fact now I'm have March update, but Netflix just doesn't install itself. So I check on the play store and I don't find it, I check on internet and I see that it doesn't work on rooted phones... Guess what, mine isn't rooted at all. But still has it's bootloader unlocked.
Do you have Google Play Protect ON in Settings -> Security & location?

install netflix from apkmirror, Wipe data and cache from playstore and reboot. It could be the bootloader unlocked, in that case youll have to root it with magisk to get the safetnet working.

Thank you so much for your help!
Hello everyone.
Today I decided to update my phone (12.5.8 Enhanced) to the latest MIUI version. I was kind of skeptical going into it, but still went with it thinking "why not?" When the update finished and the phone booted, it immediately rebooted and I thought maybe that's supposed to do that, but then it rebooted again, this time to MIUI Recovery mode. And now I discovered that whenever the phone tries to connect to the WIFI or Mobile data, it reboots. Every time. When the internet is turned off, it doesn't. And I noticed that my phone has become a bit laggy and not as responsive as with the previous version of MIUI I had on it, even the refresh rate isn't working properly, it says 120hz but clearly it's 60hz. The update rendered my phone hardly usable. What could be the problem? Has any Poco F3 users encountered these problems? What should I do next? Should I really consider flashing a custom ROM?
Thank you in advance, any help is kindly appreciated.
Wow. This is just with a System update on a phone with a locked bootloader?
You could try to format data... aka. Factory Reset.
If you unlock your bootloader, you must be aware of the downsides. Some apps won't work (atleast not without a workaround), like Banking apps, Netflix, Super Mario Kart, Google Pay.
That's cuz Google's SafetyNet API reports to those apps that the Security-Status of your phone is "Fail", because of the unlocked bootloader.
You can hide it with Custom ROMs that specifically list "SafetyNet passed" or by using Magisk Root with a SafetyNet Fix Module. Or Both idk whatever.
I use Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM on Android 12 with Magisk Root. Everything works, but this stupid cat & mouse game with Google and Android Modders definitely sucks.
I have a POCO F3 phone. No problems. Hope you used windows_fastboot_first_install_with_data_format.bat. In your case, you must not use the windows_fastboot_update_rom.bat option.
I have been using MIUI 13.0.3.0.SKHEUXM for a while. There was no problem.
Now I'm on MIUI 22.3.2 / 3 (weekly). I recommend. Works great, amazingly smooth, great option for new sidebar widgets ...
Of course, you need to have an unlocked bootloader. Look here: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/howto-install-fastboot-image-update-info-no-ota-download.64508/
I have an unlocked bootloader. NETFLIX and Google Pay work without any problems.
Rule no.1 of miui: never update until the community approves of the update. there are always bugs, sometimes some are fixed, but other show up.
Im sure that there'll be a new update which will solve these problems soon, but who knows what kinds of issues you'll have after that. Maybe you should unlock the bootloader and flash back to miui 12.5x stock, so that you can actually use your phone.

Exactly, all are said here ... No probleme with stable and weekly version ... Balaam custom kernel can help also on those rom.
After any major OS update ( I mean moving from one version of android to another) It is recommended to do a factory reset to your phone just after the update finishes.
I always do it for my phones and I did the same for my Poco F3 and had no issues so far. The phone works great, battery improved drastically for me and overall feels fresh.
Try to do a factory reset and see how it goes. MAKE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR DATA.
Thanks for the replies.

The thing is, in order to do a factory reset on the phone I have to connect to the Internet which is the thing that's causing the phone to reboot.
Can I do it like through the MIUI Recovery panel? Is it the same?

Yes you can do that, you either boot to recovery from option in the update menu or hold volume up and power while the phone is turned off, then select wipe data. Just make sure to delete Mi account from setting and google account ( I know you have no internet but just making sure so you won't get stuck if somehow you forget your password). Good luck.
Got the same problem with the refresh rate.. 120hz option doesn't work and just does 60hz. I'm using the update my phone gave me. No beta or custom stuff. Just got the 13.0.3 global stable update. 120hz isn't working. Are there any better options for me now? I was thinking about flashing the previous 12.5 update back again. I heard someone here say I can use the xiaomi.eu custom ROM which works to root that one.. where can I find that ROM? And how do I flash that. (I've rooted phones before with magisk) but forgot most of it haha. So what's my best option here? I need my 120hz

Yeah, the refresh rate not working as intended is frustrating. As with the downgrading and flashing, I'm afraid I can't help you with it, because I haven't done anything with flashing/rooting and all that kind of stuff. Wishing the best for you.
Kindest regards and best of luck

Yoo. Some dude on Reddit found the solution!!!! You have to disable miui optimisation. Go to developer settings. Then all the way down somewhere it says: reset to default values. Click that a few times. Now a setting a bit down should pop up saying: "enable miui optimisation" enable that if it isn't already. Then disable it again. Now go to display settings and switch to 60 then back to 120 and there you go. You can now enjoy your 120hz again

I had the same reboot problem with WiFi an mobile data. I could fix it with restoring all previously debloated apps. I am not sure which app exactly caused the reboot issues but now it works normal again.

Banking apps work if you don't root the phone. Descendant ROM for instance passes SafetyNet as long as you do not install Magisk.

Yup, I mentioned that in my comment. But depends on the Custom ROM of course, not all pass SafetyNet. The devs usually mention it tho.
Hi, is there a way to use MIUI launcher instead of Poco launcher on poco f3 MIUI 13 locked bootloader ?? Thanks !
Since the upgrade, the audio from my phone cuts out after a few minutes and I have to restart it. I use bluetooth earphones to listen to the 'BBC Sounds' app over my home wifi. It doesn't cut out if I use a Redmi Note 8 pro nor a Samsung A5 in the same circumstances.
I don't know if it related but sometime I receive a warning notification tha I've been wearing my earphones too long. I didn't receive this warning before the Miui 13 upgrade.
Can anyone suggest what I can do to resolve the problem with the audio on my Poco F3 ?
Hi everyone,
First, I want to give huge thanks to everyone involved on the backend of the 9 pro at xda.
I was able to take my brand new OP9P all the way to rooted+L1 without sim unlock (tmobile is doing their new agent "we can't help it's not our device" routine). Thanks to @Ju5t3nC4s3 One+_TooL, @craznazn MSM conversion, @razercortex and a few other people, posts and info here.
My Netflix and Disney+ are both working on L1 with bootloader unlocked, sim probably locked, Steps I took for reference:
Used @craznazn msm flash tool, phone in edl, pressed enum, f8, selected my modem/s and persist, readback, backed them up
One+_TooL to enable oem unlock in developer settings. (I did this to generate my cust-unlock data and submitted to oneplus. Just in case I need it later)
@craznazn's msm flash tool tmo->eu post to convert to Eu without needing unlock.bin
Unlocked bootloader fully
Followed another post for pulling the 11.2.2.2 boot image and patched it with magisk. Fastboot boot'd the new boot.img and installed magisk. Took the OTA and when it finished, I didn't click reboot but went back to magisk and installed to inactive slot OTA.
Usnf installed. Zygisk Enforce Deny List on
Flashed the stock modem backup back in
(Almost) everything is great, I'm here on 11.2.10.10 - glad I sent the 10T back but my device says not certified in play store. I've tried clearing cache of play store. Netflix doesn't even show up when I search. I sideloaded an apk to verify I was using L1. I'm blocking Google stuff with Hide but maybe I'm missing something?
Is there a good way to go about achieving/fixing this? I plan to stay on a11
Thanks for any advice
Edit: solved this myself
Booted to recovery and wiped system cache. Device is now certified
Yep go to F-droid and get the Aurora store .its is the play store just no need to log in. By pass Google every chance u get.

I solved this issue by booting to recovery and wiping cache. . I thought I wiped enough manually but indeed you're right, it was cached somewhere. Full speed hotspot working too. What a fun phone
Glad you fixed it, but next time all you need to do is clear data from google play and google play services.
