Hello friends.
I am encountering a very strange issue with my A70 (FN model). I have a SIM card dedicated for internet and I was using it without any problem on my A70. Then one day I was trying to root my phone while SIM cards (I have 2 different provider's SIM cards) were inside the SIM tray. I had to reboot the phone multiple times during the process. Later on, when I finally set up my phone I noticed there were 2 circles in place of network signals signs. And an error MM2: SIM CARD 1 IS NOT ALLOWED. SIM card 1 is the one I use for internet. I swapped both the SIM cards places inside the tray but the same error kept on popping up. Eventually both SIMs were not being detected.
I tried many cures for the problem, went through a number of possible solutions by watching videos but....NOTHING!
Next day I got new SIM cards with the same numbers as I thought that maybe my SIM cards were damaged while I was rooting my phone.
Now the SURPRISING thing is that the other SIM card started working but my internet SIM card still didn't work. I put that in my LG G4. It worked there flawlessly. Further, I tried few other SIM cards of my family from the same provider....NONE OF THEM WORKED!!!!
Now my question is IS IT POSSIBLE THAT ONLY A CERTAIN COMPANY'S SIM CARD DOESNT WORK/STOPS WORKING ON A PHONE WHILE OTHERS HAVE NO ISSUES ???? is there any way that the SIM provider has blocked my phone?
Can anyone plz help?

You are absolutely right. As far as I remember I did click on Nand Erase as I was unable to flash the Patched AP by normal settlings of Odin. (Although it still didn't work. I had to flash fulll Stock ROM). Can the damage be reversed?
By the way, I did flash later on full latest stock ROM of the same CSC (SEK) but still the problem persists.

Hey guys, i just received my Sony Ericson Xperia Arc S from japan (docomo). I just boot it, everything is fine until I insert the sim card, Im from Philippines and I'm new to android phones so i can't tell if this phone is unlock to all sim. I tried to scan the network and it detects all of the carrier in my country but i always prompted to this after i choose my carrier "your sim card does not allow connection to this network".
Your response will be much appreciated.

Your phone does not have to be rooted to be unlocked. A carrier unlock is totally different. it allows you to use any sim card in your device. Rooting gives you access to the hidden file system that actually runs the phone.
I think you should contact your cell provider to replace the sim.
first try it with a different carrier's sim. if its working then ask your provider for a sim replacement. if its not working then your phone is probably carrier locked. (of course if reception is fine at your location)
Hello guys,
I have a problem with my Xperia Arc that I cannot find the answer on the forums.
My ARC is originally from MOVISTAR Spain and, after unlocking has been working great with VODAFONE Portugal.
Now I´m changing to TMN and that´s where the problems started. I´ve keept the same number (91) and therefore I went trough a "Portability" process to TMN. Last Friday the process was completed and my VODAFONE SIM card was disconnected.
TMN delivered me a SIM card to exchange. As soon as I did it the phone recognizes the SIM card, I put the PIN number and apparently all is OK.
But, there´s no network signal, and I cant make or receive phone calls or SMS. Everytime I try to call it says "Out of service area". This SIM card works normaly on my wifes LG Optimus Black.
My phone works at 100% with VODAFONE SIM cards and doesn´t work with TMN SIM cards. Despite it´s unlocked I´ve unlocked again the bootloader via Wontanserver. No sucess!
Strange thing though... I have 3G internet signal and I can navigate the web. Cant make phone calls or send SMS!!! Please Help!!!
Thanks in advance guys for any contribute.
Gonçalo Santos
When you say you unlocked it do you mean unlocked the bootloader or you also sim unlocked?

Already did! The TMN SIM card works on another phone, not in mine!
On my phone works VODAFONE SIM cards (tried various) and the TMN SIM only works for 3G internet connection, not phone calls or SMS...
HELP
Does anyone know how to fix this?
I've read somewhere that this was fixed in another case by putting an unlock code.
Do you know if this can solve my problem? If so, where/how can I get this "unlock code"?
Thanks again.
wontanserver server removes both sim and bootloadel lock, there`s no question there. now, since you have an unlocked bootloader, why don`t you try and flash kernel again ? or try and flash the stock rom, maybe you have some MOVISTAR crap and somehow block your calls, though i doubt that ...

Thanks for your reply. I've already reinstaled the ICS latest update trough PC companion, which "cleaned" my data. And... no luck there.
Does this process equals flashing kernel or stock rom? If so, I can always flash a diferent rom or kernel, do you recomend that?
Thanks for your help m8. I'm really in a jam...
except from vodafone sim cards, is there another sim that work ? are you positive you`ve made the right steps when you unlocked you`re bootloader ? try other sim, except form vodafone or TMN, make sure you don`t have some kind of network lock.

Yes, all sim cards work great with TMN sim cards as exceptions. I've tried old and new TMN sim cards. No luck! 3G signal for internet but no service for calls or SMS.
I´ve ordered a CHECKMEND report to see if my IMEI could be blocked/blacklisted by TMN and it came out with 0 problems!
Have tried ti change baseband, kernel and ROM, unlocked via WONTAN and... nothing! Now I'm back to stock ICS and stuck with the same issue... :crying:
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance.
Do you resolve this issue? Mine is happening excatly the same thing. Nothing seems to work @Gsantoz
[SOLVED] I put my phone in airplane mode and my IMEI/Baseband came back, cheking the service menu I went to *#2263# and saw that "LTE Preference" was enabled. I clicked on Automatic and problem fixed. Probably a ROM bug? Who knows.
Hello there. I've been a reader of the XDA forums for some time but I never had any reason to create an account to post on the forums.
A few weeks ago I got a SGH-M919 as a gift, the phone only had a few months of use and I took it with me, everything worked fine except for the fact that I couldn't get 3G/4G (Not even EDGE), I was only able to connect to the GPRS network and I couldn't change the carrier (It always gave errors like "Unable to connect. Try later" and such). Although the phone is (apparently) quadband (I don't live in the US), it just didn't work but I lived with it.
Yesterday my phone was low on battery and I turned it off, a few hours later I turned it back on and it couldn't connect to the network, I went to the network options and once I pressed the screen to enter the Mobile Network options, I got an alert saying that I must have a SIM to access those option. At first I thought that the SIM got damaged somehow (This isn't the case since it works perfectly fine in another phone) but after a few minutes looking around, I checked the IMEI and instead of the usual number, I got a null/null message. My first reaction was to google what exactly happened and the answer I received was that the Baseband (Which is also Unknown) and IMEI are stored in a folder called EFS and that it got corrupted. Sweet. I looked for solutions but the main two I got (EFS Pro and ADB nvrestore) require a backup of the EFS (Which I don't have).
The other solution I got was to restore to the stock ROM (M919UVUFNH7) which I'm currently downloading from SamMobile (Sorry if this is considered spam). The phone is not rooted and has the stock ROM, it came with a CWM folder inside the internal memory with an .img file but it doesn't have CWM intalled. I've never upgraded it (Not sure if it came with that firmware from the store if it matters).
I live pretty much in what can be considered a "3rd world country". So I cannot send it to Samsung nor I have access to dollars.
Another question is, the phone was gifted to me already unlocked, I don't know if it came unlocked from the original carrier or if it was unlocked via a code or whatever. If I restore to the stock will it lock my phone to T-Mobile again? Would I be able to use it without a SIM card if it gets locked? It's impossible for me to get a T-Mobile SIM on my hands should I ever need one. In the worst case scenario that my phone gets locked, can I get it unlocked by flashing a custom ROM?
I have so many newbie questions that are already answered in other threads, but since it's a lot of information I want to get it as specific as possible to avoid breaking my phone.
If someone can help me with this issue, I'd really appreciate it.
i having same issue in M919
Do you guys get a message in notification bar about sim car removed or something about a sim card? Also, it doesn't matter if the sim card works in another phone. This device has a little issue with being picky with sim cards. If it's a cut sim card, get an original micro sim card

This is a known bug of the s4. It is a hardware problem and I have yet to find a solution. If you google it you will find many threads on different forums addressing this issue. Again, no known solution
Any answer/idea about my issue? . Sometimes I can access Mobile Network Options, sometimes I can't. I can't configure the APNs (They delete themselves after I click on save). Phone Serial Number didn't get deleted (Which is stored inside the EFS folder as far as I know). I also can't select a Network Mode. I click on GSM/WCDMA/LTE but it changes automatically to nothing.

That's what I said? One solution is to change sim cards if using a cut sim card to use an original micro sim. It's worked for a friend if someone I know and also for others on XDA. It's not the solution, but works for some

Before trying to flash it, is there any risk of getting simlocked again? I wouldn't want to get my IMEI fixed just to realize that my phone is locked to TMB again
UPDATE 1: My IMEI and Baseband randomly got back (My IMEISV was still missing) but after I restarted, they got deleted again.
UPDATE 2: Rooted, went to EFS, didn't find nv_data.

Yeah, this phone will not ask you for an unlock code, if you follow the procedure correctly it will read any other SIM card on it's own
Try unlocking again with what you have, the stock 4.0.4 and UVLE1 combination, it should be the right one. Do the procedure again until it reads the SIM card you want.
Another possible problem could be that your SIM is damaged or not well placed. It happens to me when I try to fit a Micro SIM on it, if it is not well placed it will not detect it. Try using other SIMs or try it on other phones to see if your SIM is the problem

One final question, when you insert a SIM on your T989D that is NOT Koodo, do you get an "Invalid SIM", "No SIM" or just an empty signal bar?

My conclusion is that it's having a hard time reading the SIM card. When you put another companies SIM card in to a LOCKED phone, it will show as invalid SIM (sometimes it even shows signal but is unusable). Since it says "No SIM card", I believe it's more of a hardware problem than a software one.
All I can think of is try moving the SIM card around, turn on. If nothing changes turn it off and move a little again, the turn on and repeat until it reads it.
Apart from that, I have no clue what could be wrong with the phone.
Turn on your phone without any SIM. If you get the same message (No SIM card.|Emergency calls only|) then it is most definitely your phone not reading your SIM correctly. If you get Koodo signal WITHOUT any SIM inserted (which I doubt but it CAN happen) then that means you have a faulty SIM Card Reader on your phone.

Sorry man, I'm all out of ideas. I mean I've experienced the problem with the "No Service" thing, but I basically fix it by switching to 2G since I know there are some areas that I can't get 3G coverage. As for your problem, it's basically not reading your SIM entirely (by either software or hardware issues) and I wouldn't know how to get around that.
Best of luck to you
Hello,
Is there anyone who is able to get second sim working on dual sim xt1635-02 just like people were able to do so with moto x play. I have checked that my device does contains pins for the second sim and above all there are worldwide dual sim devices with same xt1635-02 board.
No word. However with other forum users ending up with imei = 0 on sim 1, i wouldn't recommend it.

any update?
The method to install a dual SIM firmware on a single sim device probably will work. Like with Moto X Play there will be only one IMEI be present. Who wants a dual SIM device, should buy a dual SIM device.
After you are sure to have a working efs backup (this one is really difficult! How to be sure your backup would work without testing restore? But if backup is broken or incomplete, testing restore may make your phone an expensive mediaplayer!), good luck when testing. Others just don't have the need I guess.
I tried several things the past days, and the only thing I got is the second sim got reconized but no calls are possible. The prop says dualsim=failes.
I think it's hardcoded like the software channel.
