Hi if someone could please help me as I am bootloader unlocked, rooted, (systemless) using TWRP Recovery, Magisk V.19.3, blu spark r153 oos kernal.....However a couple days ago my phone is indicating a OTA avalible, sorry did some searching just couldnt find the right awnser, I know I need to full OTA becuase I'm rooted, instead of the incremental, just looking for the best way to do this while also updating to the latest blu_spark kernal & latest TWRP, sorry just want to make sure I'm doing all this correct thanks
Do not update via OTA if you've fully rooted and installed custom kernels.
Kindly do the necessary installation steps, and don't do it like a normal OTA update.

Hi guys, I didn't find any concrete answer here so posting this.
I have OOS 3.2.7
I am rooted
I have TWRP recovery
System wants me to install OTA, before doing anything I checked the internet and found it will not work.
What is the best to install the OTA?
Can i do with FlashFire?
Do I need to install the entire ROM downloaded from OP3 official site and re-flash SuperSU? (http://downloads.oneplus.net/oneplus-3/oneplus_3_oxygenos_3.2.8/)
Can I install the OTA with TWRP???
I need a clear answer cause for some reason the community is not aligned on how to do this and I dont want to brick my phone.
Thank you in advance.
there's several threads addressing this exact concern

Get the modified twrp by eng.stk. you can flash the official rom with it. Official twrp will be replaced by stock recovery.
Flashfire didnt work when i treid to install ota, you'll have to download the full rom and either dirty flash or clean flash it. And yes, you have to reflash supersu everytime you reflash a rom.
Sent from my OnePlus3 using XDA Labs

Hi everyone, first time posting here.
I've recently purchased a HTC 10 from a friend. I'm looking to upgrade it to android version 7
The phone has TWRP recovery but no back up of a stock untouched ROM, ive tried looking for a stock UK H3G ROM (H3G_001) but I've been unable to find 1.
Could someone give me a little help on how to update my phone, possibly an idiot proof step by step guide. i just want the latest version available for my phone.
Thanks
Try this thread from a few weeks ago:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/stock-rom-required-htc-10-cid-h3g001-t3627726
Obviously you'd need a stock backup that matches the version you currently have.
Does your phone currently detect an available ota update?

"Can't update software
there was an unexpected error and the file system may be corrupted. please contact HTC support..."

So, if your system is rooted or modified in any way, you'll need to flash a stock system backup, matching the firmware version you currently have. Then flash stock recovery, and you'd be able to take the OTA.
If your system is already untouched, you would just need to flash the stock recovery, again matching your firmware version, and then take the OTA. There is a recovery for 6.0.1 in that link, but I'm not sure if it's for your firmware version. You could try to flash it and see if the OTA works.
Thinking about it more, if you're able to download the ota I think the best thing to do is to flash the OTA using twrp manually. See instructions in the faq located in the twrp thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ht...ery-twrp-touch-recovery-t3358139/post66347165
If you follow the instructions, you should be able to take the OTA including firmware, and not have to worry about restoring anything stock first.

hi all
assuming that i've flashed TWRP + rooted the phone
will i still be able to update the phone via OTA updates?
as this does not work on samsung phones once KNOX is tripped
i was wondering if it would be the same on oneplus devices
your input is appreciated. thanks!

Short answer: No. Custom recovery can't process the OTA update. There's another thread talking about this topic here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/help/root-update-ota-t3712615
If you want the latest updates Funk Wizard usually posts their full zips (not small OTA zips) on XDA (just search in the 5T section) and OnePlus usually has them under the device support page.
I've not tried it myself but I heard once you root and go to software update section oneplus will detect your root and instead will download a full OTA zip which you can then dirty flash in your custom recovery (TWRP) without any issues. of course the flash will remove root and then you will need to flash root zip file to gain root again.
Well, actually I downloaded latest OTA (4.7.4) over wifi and then updated phone while rooted and with custom recovery (oficial 3.2.0 I think). And it worked! I lost root in the process (I rooted again later), but otherwise phone was updated and it was done via custom recovery. So far, I don't have any problems, but not sure if any problems will come later.

wow for real?
so if you're rooted. it will not download small zips of OTA but instead the full sized OTA?
then we can choose to flash in TWRP instead?
Hi everyone. I've tried multiple times to update my phone to the latest oxygen 9.0.3 version both via OTA and recovery. All the times I've got a failed update message. The phone have unlocked bootloader, the recovery I'm using is twrp 3.2.1 and the oxygen version is the 5.0.8
I don't know if I'm missing something or making mistakes. If someone can help me it will be really appreciate. Thanks in advance

Unlocked bootloader ...it will erase your storage completely ....as there is a encryption error which they have not yet resolved...
so any way you need to backup ur datas... then use the latest TWRP 3.3 or flash the stock recovery which you can download from oneplus support ....
then install the full rom it will be updated ...
Hello,
I got 2 Sloans from ebay that I had to do this procedure on https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unbrick-root-twrp-fire-tv-2-sloane.3986303/ in order to get them up and running and they are, they are now running latest rooted rom from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/firetv-2-sloane-prerooted-stock-images-5-2-7-6_r1.3309783/ .
Which is great ! thank you XDA once again !
But I want to unroot and run latest stock rom which seems to be 5.2.8.0 (671761720). I tried all procedures to force it to update OTA, but it refuses and always says up to date.
Also reason for unrooting is some apps like peacock just refuse to work...
From what I understand I can just flash the stock unrooted rom via TWRP, but for the life of me I can not find the stock roms, or even a rooted latest ROM.
Any help is really appreciated ! TIA

Hi,
I would recommend you to use this procedure now that you have TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unlock-root-twrp-unbrick-firetv-2-sloane.4222331/
After that, flash any of this ROMs through the NEW recovery: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unlock-root-twrp-unbrick-firetv-2-sloane.4222331/#post-84353191
Regards.

Really appreciate the reply. I tried the first link, and that didnt help, but I see the links to the original firmware so i might just try to install it via recovery.
I was able to unroot by flushing one of those roms and recovery is gone now as well. But it still does not go to the latest firmware... weird.
