Hi!
I'm running linegeOS 16.0 by arcon for samsung s4 active. I am trying to select a default home screen; I understand that pinching out on the desktop is no longer a thing(just came from android 4.4.2...) according to this post (for oero 8.0) long clicking on the desktop should display a home icon, in order to select the default home screen. But there's nothing like that for me. So, does it work differently on LinegeOS?
(I already tried asking on the rom's thread)
(I also disabled google app (on the left hand side of the desktop) because that's what it says on that link I gave)
*also I can't find a way to sort out the home screens order... meaning, say you have 4 home screens and you want to alter the order - 1,2,3,4 -> 1,3,2,4. I can't figure out how to do it on linege!
thanks!

You should find the option in Settings>>Apps and Notifications>>Default Apps.
There, you should find options to select apps to perform various default actions, including Home, if you have them installed.
Thanks D4ND310, for trying to help.
I'm not asking about the default apps, though. I'm asking about how to arrange the home screens (that assemble the desktop) and selecting the default one (the one that gets displayed when pressing the home button)
i.e
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This is at least how it used to work on my S4 active, and it's a normal feature on samsung devices. I'm asking how to do the same thing on linegeOS.
thanks!

That's not a feature of the operating system. That's a feature of the launcher. In lineageOS's default launcher trebuchet the home screen is always on the most left position. Maybe you will find the described feature in another launcher.

I created this software that can merge the traditional desktop and new home screen of Windows 8

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The application is responsible for making up the new home screen of Windows 8 (with dynamic thumbnails) and the traditional Windows desktop in the same window. This fusion avoids having to switch from one to the other at all times.
Using the options you can choose to set automatic shutdown while restoring the original appearance of the home screen. Useful if you enable the option to see the home screen when the program starts (combined with oblytile) you can have your personal space as an example for your games, software ...
Advanced mode allows you to set the home screen where you want on your desktop and the size you want.
Latest Version::
2.0
Changelog:
2.0 :
-Graphic change
-Advanced mode recording with a preference
-And new tab with options for various settings to make combination
For example:
click software -> displays StartScreen -> start a game -> software that closes itself and you can restore the size if you want StartScreen
Old :
-First apps with basic graphic and advanced setting. No more options.
Download:
here
This software is in english. Windows 8 32/64 RTM (i not tested in other windows 8 ...)
Is it also working on Windows RT?
I do not have windows RT to test above. You can always try, if it works I put it is compatible
I just tried it on my rt and do nothing. it stay in the task manager for 1 sec and then vanish.
I was looking for something that would let me keep my taskbar in the start screen. Thank you very much for this!
Your Sourceforge page says it's GPL'd, know where I can get at the source at?
Awesome work! Loving it!
Fantastic app, I appreciate the work. Got any new features you going to bake into this soon?
Personally, I'd love it if we can make the Modern screen stick to the desktop and not disappear when I click out of it. Is this possible?
Thanks,
This is a rather nice idea.
Is possible.
I'm not saying I'll do it.
But if I do it it will be in one week, or more.
I keep having a problem using it, When I press start it does this (look to the right)
Location of start screen: Fullscreen + Taskbar
I is not implemented when the taskbar is on the left, right and top (for the next update probably).
Otherwise to settle your problem, you go to the advanced menu and you do the adjustment manually.
You can save the adjustment.
That way you can return to the basic menu selection and you lose another location you your adjustment.
Like that you can switch from one to another for further facilitates and load your adjustment.
I was messing around with some widgets, and I found a way to turn the flash on using the volume up when the screen is off.
1 have Nova Launcher installed.
2 long press home screen,select shortcuts.
3 you will see the Nova icon, press that.
4 a menu will pop up, scroll down to settings, and open that.
5 scroll down to torchlight, and a widget will apear on homescreen.
6 tap widget, and enable the light.
After it is enabled, just remove that widget.

This is enabled on my workphone (Samsung Rugby Smart) and it comes in handy.
Just thought I would share.:beer:

Very nice! I believe what you are tapping into is the same thing the xposed-wanam method uses. Awesome on finding a way to get at it via a launcher though - nice share

Our current firmware already has it built-in. If you know how to mod the settings to enable or create a key in the settings database with name "torchlight_enable" and value 1, you will have it too natively..
Use the flash as a flashlight all the time... I set it up with wanam when I first rooted.
[GUIDE] Make a stock "screen off" shortcut that works with Fingerprint/SmartLock
Hi!
One thing I've always thought that was missing in this phone was a "screen off" shortcut that so many brands currently have.
Third party options have caveats. Using device administrator locks the phone but disables fingerprint or smar lock, using timeout often didn't work well as the black screen sometimes continued to show the status bar or was responsive to touches during the timeout.
This method shuts the screen off as if you pressed the power button using bixby.
To do this:
- Open Bixby - Click the 3 dotted menu - Quick commands - My commands - Click on the plus icon to add a command.
-Name it as you wish in any language, the name you give it here is the name of the shortcut on the home screen.
-Then in what bixby does choose "type a command" and write "Screen off".
- Save it
- Then click the 3 dotted menu in front of the command you've just made and choose Add to Home Screen.
That's it, enjoy!

Great
doubleHome
There's an even easier way to do this and it works anywhere on the phone, not just the launcher shortcut. I've been using this utility called doubleHome from Jawomo since my S8+ days, and it lets me double tap the home button from anywhere to turn off and lock the screen. Just installed it on my new A50, still works great!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-doublehome-double-tap-home-to-off-t3611220
It's no longer on the Play Store or even supported anymore, but the above thread has one of the last versions (v1.30). There was one last update to v1.31, which is the one I've always used since I originally updated it through the Play Store before it was pulled. This last version can easily be found with a Google search.
There are a few miscellaneous options to customize its behavior and some Pro features that were unlockable at one point but no longer. One little "glitch" if you can even call it that, the status bar will stay on for a second or two before turning off like the rest of the screen. This didn't used to happen until Oreo and later, but it's not a big deal at all - actually looks kinda neat.
Give it a try!

Nice ??
I've owned S5 to S7 Samsung phones and a long time, old ass Android user here, but I can't seem to configure the pull down menu to swap in preferred shortcuts. For some reason, my phone defaults to crap like FTP Server and LiveCaption. So, I swiped down twice, hit the three button menu key and hit Button Order. I then drag the four buttons I'd prefer to the top and hit Done.
Nothing. As soon as I go back to the home screen, I'm still getting the same useless shortcuts that my phone has randomly defaulted to. I've gone in to button order (and when it takes me to the option to pick which shortcuts I want, it's showing all of the ones that I had selected on my previous attempt) and hit reset and selected them again by dragging them to the top. When I hit Done, it exits back, but no change.
I've soft reset the phone, I've booted into safe mode - both times I tried to change the button order - both times no change. The phone is completely up to date. Samsung Tech Support isn't giving me any answers. Do I have to try a factory wipe or is there some other step I've missed along the way?

I am a new s22 user, I have turned off all animations in the developer settings, all animations are turned off except when you swipe up from the bottom in any open app to go to the home screen, the app screen does a little animation and shrinks into the app icon. it's pretty annoying. it only happens in gesture navigation mode, if you change it to the button navigation bar, pressing the home screen button at the bottom shows no animation. does anyone else experience this? I did all sorts of searches online, but the results are not consistent, it feels like it's a problem related to the android 12 rather than Samsung and many pixel phones have the same issue.
If you want traditional virtual buttons, Galaxy store>Goodlock family of apps>Navstar
One Handed Operation plus is another Good Lock app that allows dozens of swipe gestures switches from the right/left sides. Very customizable and uses almost no battery.

All stock N10+ using the above options. Edge is also active and can be used in conjunction with One Handed Operation plus.
doesn't really answer my question though, do you have s22/android 12 phone? would you be able to confirm for me even all the animations are turned off in the developer setting, the back-to-home/minimize app gesture still shows annoying animation? thanks kindly to anyone who can confirm this for me (so that I know it's a system problem rather than a problem with my phone/software)

Yes this seems to be OS level. I get the same behavior on both my S22 Ultra and Tab S7; both running Android 12. I use Microsoft Launcher on both, so it's not a OneUI (at least I don't think it is) feature. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off. At least not without digging in to the OS.
