Does anyone know who i can get a slider for the volume on the slide down menu where you turn on the wifi and so on and see notifications? I'm asking because on my previous phone i had the option to change the brightness of the screen below the audio slider to adjust the audio, however here i don't. I searched the menu's but i can't seem to find an option to put it in sliding menu.
Not sure there is one, tbh it is just as easy to press either vol+/- and then slide from there isn't it? And if you need the rest of them (notis/media etc) slide down on the slide that comes up there?

As far as can tell not an option in stock TW launcher I'm afraid. I haven't used Lawnchair for a year or so but is very customisable, could see if it's an option in there?
Well thank you anyway.

Hi all,
I'd really like to know whether setting quick toolbar + full screen browsing into the stock browser does hide the software button of ICS. I mean: does it really have a fullscreen browsing that way, can I use the whole screen?
A screenshot would be really appreciated!
You know what: I own a Galaxy Note and I cannot make up my mind whether to change it or not for a Galaxy Nexus. I have an ipad2 too and maybe a note is too much. But I like big screen and maybe a nexus with its 4.65 screen it's the perfect size. However, browsing on a 4.65 screen with ICS software buttons, it's like browsing on my old Galaxy S2 in terms of visible screen. Thus browsing in real full screen would be great!
Thanks in advance
The softbuttons are still visible in fullscreen mode.
There's the labs feature quick controls which hides the address bar, also a labs feature to hide the notification bar, however nothing removes the soft buttons, they just turn into dots and dim.

Then the best I can achieve is to remove address bar and notification bar.
Such a pity!

Who knows, maybe one day devs will be able to hide them, like it happens for videos.
That would be great! I mean: when you have the quicktoolbar, they could insert there a back button and we could have the whole screen estate to browse!
That's what I'm hoping happens, if eventually someone manages to get them to hide from a swipe down then reappear with a swipe up or press of the power button or something, It would be awesome
Not, until we can access the bookmark via Quick Control as well.
Currently, when you enable Quick Control, you need to long-press the back button to access the bookmark.
There is no other way ...

Actually, if you go to the new tab shortcut, the bookmarks tab is in the top right next to the new tab and options button.
My home, back and recent buttons on the phone are broken. I hpermanent ave root but that's not the reason.
So, is there an app or Rom which can put those buttons permanent on bottom of screen, and then make the rest of the screen the display. So it should lower the height of the viewport, and put those buttons in the remaining space below.
I've tried "button savior" app, but I don't want those buttons as an overlay.
The screen on the phone is big enough to use some of it as a permanent button area I think.

most aosp roms and some sense roms have the option to show the "nav bar" at the bottom, some even have the option to change the colour of the buttons

Try the ParanoidAndroid ROM.
You can enable those buttons in there and you can even customize them exactly the way you want them to be! (the size, color, etc...) :victory:

perfect! Can you also help me by telling me exactly where one can enable those buttons in that rom? And maybe give me link to latest version of that rom?
Pie Launcher which is for root users also provides some features..try it

Sorry for not replying for so long.
Those buttons are enabled by default, so that shouldn't be a problem. The latest version of this ROM can be found here. However, why didn't you just have a look yourself? It can be found pretty easily in the Original Development section
Hello friends!
I got my LG G Pad Yesterday
Is there a way to remove the Front Touch Buttons? I couldn't see any options in Settings! Is it possible after rooting?
I plan to use only gestures for the front key button functions... May be we can use the screen real estate more effectively if we get rid of the buttons?
Any thoughts / suggestions?
I just installed an app called GMD Auto Hide from the Play Store. It provides an auto-hide feature for the touch buttons. It seems to work well, except that it overrides the setting on the phone that lets you change the button order. I want to set up the soft touch buttons so that the "back" key is on the right to match my Samsung phone. It appears that the GMD app doesn't have a setting for that. Too bad.
Does anybody know a way to get auto-hide and also customize the button positions?

Thanks for the quick reply.
With GMD auto hide, does the display get extended to the button area or the area just becomes blank?
I am thinking of using GMD gesture launcher to to replace the buttons...

It gets extended. I haven't used it very much yet, but it looks like it does the job, if you don't mind the button order.
Ok, I played with the app some more. When it replaces the soft touch keys, it puts a red line at the bottom. I did get it to put the back button on the right side, but another issue is that it puts a "recent apps" button where the menu button usually goes, then it puts a different menu button on the right edge. I wish it would l wish it had more options to set it up the way I want to.

I tried it, but it didn't work for me. The normal soft touch keys were not hidden.
GMD Gesture is fantastic. It hide autobar (your tab need to be rooted) and replace virtual button by gesture that you can define by yourself. Moreover, the developper is very reactive..

Thanks. GMD does the job quite well. I overlooked the status bar on/off part in GMD?

First off, let me say that I love that the G3 comes with a setting to hide the soft keys. The only complaint I have is it takes too long to go away once you bring it up. If you don't know what I mean go into an application bring it up and go home and see how long it stays.
I used an application called UND Navbar and it works great, you can choose to hide the bar as soon as you press a button. The only downside is the fact that you can't use the split screen and other button combinations the g3 has, you're stuck with the traditional soft keys.
Is anyone aware of an app or an Xposed Module that would allow me to have the navigation bar hide once I click one of the buttons?

Hey dude i was using UND aswell problem is its quite slow, and often it glitches or buttons dont work.
I tried many methods, by far the best one is "Auto hide soft keys" off the market - its VERY snappy and you can adjust the miliseconds for it to minimize OR just get it to minimize once you hit the key.

UND was lightning fast for me but the problem was it doesn't give you the split screen and drop down options that the lg soft keys have. It's the same problem with GMD.

How do you get it to work? It disappears from the bar when I turn the app on.

Go to the recents window, select Dual Window - Slide first app UP - slide 2nd app DOWN, use as normal, touch the bottom when you want the nav bar to reappear.
Okay, that makes sense. I feel pretty stupid right now considering I see that option every single time I go to the recents window.

All good brother - you got there in the end.

Basically my HU is one capactive buttons but only for home, volume up/down, and back. They don't work all that great so I'm looking for a launcher perhaps can incorporate some custom buttons at the bottom or side of all screens sort of like the top bar w/ the home and back buttons. I'd like to put a navi, volume+/-, and a pandora button where I can easily switch apps without having to go back then to the app. Currently I'm using next launcher.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Dave
which head unit do you currently have?
This one
i was looking at one of those, what goes wrong with the buttons?
Nothing really it just seems the way I have my install it is hard to get an entire finger onto the button to activate it.

oh, I see how that could be a problem
Yeah it is behind a bezel so it looks flush but it eats up a bit of real estate since it the bezel on top of it is curved. I just hope I can find a launcher that has software buttons on the bottom.

How about a xposed module? I think Gravity box allows adding of pie controls.
Researching this now but can it be always there rather than triggered by touch?
I've played w/ pie and it isn't what I need. Really want perm. buttons down there that I can program. IE, volume up/down, navi, pandora, next, previous play. Even if it just shifted everything up a hair, i'll have to see if there is a launcher to do this.

There is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270198 Not sure if it would work on our devices. I returned my unit with the capacitive buttons on the side and went with one that has actual push buttons so you can get property feedback from them.
I'm looking or one that will not float atop other apps but rather occupy a predefined amount of space and push up the apps. I would lose maybe 3/8" of screenspace but then I can access apps directly from thoese buttons. I found an app called auto hide softkeys which allows me to sort of customize a bar but i need to swipe up to activate it. I can only add volume up/down and apps but i cannot find a way to add buttons to pause or skip songs. I'm looking into that apps XML file now but I don't thinK i can edit it.
Dave
You can always try adding the line
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
to the build.prop file, might not work since I think it is heavily dependent on the framework, but its meant to force the soft navigation bar by tell the ROM that there are no hardware buttons. I'm not sure you will be able to customize it fully the way you want. Does your car not have steering wheel controls?
Right but I also need to customize the navigation bar. I will try to modify that line and see. That app you linked me to is just like what I've been playing with and neither has the option to allow forward/next of audio.. Changing that line to 0 just messed up resolution and didn't actually make that bar permanent. Even if I have to swipe up it isn't a huge deal but I do need to find a way to get a next button.

The xposed module xposed additions allows you to remap the buttons, but I don't think you can add additional ones.
I think you will find you have an either or choice, either you can have a permanent navbar that you can't customize or you can have a floating 'widget' that you can customize.

Perhaps I can find a launcher that has this capability built in. Even the customized navbar doesn't allow me to skip to next song in pandora. Not a deal breaker but it'd be nice if I could find something that would display the navbar permanently even at the expense of a bit of screen space.
