File Transfer from A70 to Computer - Samsung Galaxy A70 Questions & Answers

Hello guys. So I am trying to connect my A70 to my iMac. I use Android File Transfer. It worked with my old S5.
So because A70 uses the type C usb cable end to end, I have to use a type C to to type A generic adaptor and a type A generic cable end to end to connect to my iMac. My 2012 Imac does not have usb 3.0. I already did the usb debugging and usb config on developer's option, rebooted the phone, still Android File Transfer does not detect A70. It only charges the phone.
Appreciate any help/response. Thanks!

Set up a wifi transfer?
Download an app on your phone that sets up an ftp:// type of link.
And then on your apple create a new network location with that ftp:// that the app created. Then from your apple computer, you can browse through your phones files and folders and you'll be able to copy things from or unto your phone's folders. Presuming your computer and your phone are both connected to the same wifi server. (Eg, your home's wifi.)
One app that I have on my A70 is the Wifi File Transfer app by "Villacat", although many identical apps exist too. This is just the one that I happened to find.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.file.transfer&hl=en_US
There are file transfer apps that make use of a paid http:// sort of webpage location too. But those are ripoffs. You have to pay for the bandwidth or storage. Or pay to transfer files that are larger than a few MB's.

Thank you so much! I'll try this, while I'm waiting for an original samsung cable c to a for android file transfer, and will
see if an original cable will work.

The absolute easiest way to transfer files from an android phone to a computer is to install the app File Commander. It has built-in pc transfer and all you have to do is open your browser on your pc with the ip adress from the app. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, best solution I have found without the hassle of using USB cables.

Es file explorer and enter shares in your computer with it, i used this method for years
Also consider otg cable, i have one worked perfectly to write to flash drived then to computer

[Q] sending file to defy from pc

Is there a program to enable transferring files from PC to defy such as Windows Mobile Device Center does it with WM devices.
there are several way
1. the official way, if you connect your phone and pc with usb cable, there will be a web interface appeared. you can operate your phone by means of it. only IE support file transfer.
2. wifi. you can install a software such as ipmsg to transfer file. some software can share file, such as afile and so on.
3. bluetooth. you should install a software named bluetooth file transfer and enable obex file transfer service, then you can transfer files.
maybe there is more way to transfer file, I am searching.
Media link available on motorola.
Dropbox (wireless)
Or awesome drop. (Wireless)
Sent from my DEFY using XDA app
The official way (Phone Portal) works via wifi too. No need for USB.
I really like the official usb-media function.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
DLNA? Been using it to pull files off my computer, my son's and my Buffalo Link Station.
Thanks very much for your replies, I am now able to transfer files to Defy.

is there no build-in, easy peasy was to use BT for file transfer without installing a software like "bluetooth file transfer"? why is my phone telling me that a device is paired but "not connected" or how can I "connect"?
motorola's encrypted bootload is a bit annoying, but its retarded handling of USB connections is simply unacceptable. adding the apparent "difficulties" with bluetooth connections makes me wonder if I will ever buy a motorola device again ...

[Q] Removable Disk via Bluetooth?

I had it in my Nokia, so simple.
Is there a way to open and transfer the files at my DHD through my PC via Bluetooth?
I hate this cables that I need to plug in just to transfer 3MBs..
I want to make this "Removable Disk [E]" but via Bluetooth connection,
not sending file like (right click > share > bluetooth, and then it sends to my phone)
I want a full access, opening my DCIM folder, deleting files, and renaming..
Is there a software or app to make it?
I could do it very easily with my old N95 with its software "Nokia PC-Suite",
I could just enter the software (through keyboard shortcut that I made), and few seconds later, by no touching, no connecting any cable, it would open my phone's folder.
I miss that easy life
How can I do it here too?
Thanks,
Yarden.
There is similar apps called Wifi Explorer Pro...as it name states, it uses wifi though...if it suits you, it can explore, download or upload any files from and to your desire hd...using wifi...much faster than using bluetooth though...i hope it helps you

Use MyPhoneExplorer and wifi. It's what I do to sync contacts, calendar and files.
Dave
First of all thank you for your replies.
But both apps aren't really what I'm looking for,
I'll explain my self again,
I want a pc software (not necessarily) that when I open it, it searches via bluetooth (or as new as you teached me, via WiFi), for my phone and open its files, like it would do if I plugged the USB cable.
That it gives me a new drive (C,D,E,F...) with all the mobile contents (folders, music, pictures ..etc)
I use web sharing it gives me full access to my sd card.

File Sync with ROBOCOPY

So I'm looking to setup a file sync with my phone, now typically it's a simple robocopy command that will sync folders but I'm having problems with this setup anyone have any experience with robocopy that can lend a hand?
ROBOCOPY C:\Users\asdf\Music\ "Galaxy Nexus"\"Internal Storage"\Music /MIR
That's my .bat file but nothing works, thoughts?
What you are trying to do won't work.
The Phone is not mounted as a standard USB device, so it isn't assigned a drive letter. Instead it is being mounted as a MTP device. Microsoft is being "user friendly" in the Explorer shell by giving it a path, and you can browse the folders etc. But I think it is only being seen by Explorer, and it isn't recognized as a storage device at the actual OS level. So the robocopy command doesn't see it.
If you want to use robocopy, you will need to install an app for Samba file sharing. This will let Windows see the files on your phone like another computer's network shared folders.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.funkyfresh.samba&hl=en
This will be connecting over wifi, not your USB cable, though.
So, with the Samba app installed, you might also try adding reverse tethering to make the phone use a USB cable to the computer as the network connection.

I don't know what kind of throughput you will see with networking over the USB cable. Or how it will compare with transferring over wifi. I haven't tried it myself, but I think it could work, in theory.

Ahh I thought that was going to be the problem. I can't seem to add files on my Windows PC it keeps canceling the transfer. On my Mac they transfer fine. So what I think I'm going to do is once I get my 20gb of music on the phone just use DoubleTwist AirSync.
i have a samsung galaxy note 2 sgh-i317M. I want to use robocopy to transfer my voice recorded school lecture notes to my laptop recorded with note 2's default voice recording app. How can I make the note 2 be detected as a drive (C:, F so that I can robocopy on it? Thank you

Review of Sandisk Connect Wireless Flash and Media drives w/lots of pics!!!

removed.
OK....I have this problem I can't seem to figure out. I have the media hub. I have tried to connect internet 'through' then hub. It will NOT connect to my home WiFi, using my asus tf300t and nexus 7 2013. The hub will reboot (I have tried everything and followed directions to a T) It will not connect. The 3rd light doesnt come on (no internet).
I've tried it also with my note 2....to connect WiFi......it won't do it.
Here's the kicker......I turn on my hotspot via my note 2 and do the directions again to the T.....and I have internet connect into my hotspot!!!!!!! ( tried on both tablets).....WHAT GIVES..... I am completely not knowing why....
(I have not tried a different WiFi source yet) like my work or some other WiFi.....could it be that I simply can't with my home WiFi?
This is very disheartening.

Another explorer?
amazing devices indeed, and nice review that answers a lot... still I have two inquiries
is it possible to access the devise using another file explorer like the "ES file explorer" on android?
is it possible to connect the device to my home wifi network like all of my devices, and then access the device trough my home network like a network disk drive? i.e without connecting to the sandisk wifi network directly
thanx in advance

Sorry to disappoint when you see a response....but those questions I have aswell....and hopefully someone(s) will have answers
The drive is accessible through it's own App/explorer which you need to install, not outside file explorers. It can be connected to your wireless router at home and setup to be as a path-through router, but the files are only visible when you install Sandisk app with it's file explorer. In theory, it's a media streaming devices for your phones and tablets, and to enable that you need to install their app.
Sandisk wireless drive USB connect with ES file explorer
ES file explorer has full access to the Sandisk connect wireless wifi USB drive.. It is simple. Use newest firmware:
(unable to paste as link) kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12876/~/sandisk-connect-wireless-flash-drive-support-information
I use a Nexus7 2012 running Lollipop factory unrooted.
Upload, download, multiple files, etc . No restrictions as in sandisk app. Only problem I have noticed are screwed photo thumpnails.
- connect to drive wifi
- open sandisk app / connect drive / goto settings
- copy web URL (e.g. 175.xx.xx.xx/wdf)
-Open ES file explorer newest release, goto Network / network
- tap + for new server
- add new "webdav " server. Paste copied URL. Standard port 80
- When on a shared network you have to supply the standard user name "owner" and your password
- thats it!
Enjoy!!!

Please forgive me, but does that mean OTHER apps can store files directly to the device without interaction with the Sandisk s/w?
I want to record video in clips of 2 or 3 minutes in a non stop loop, but I have Nexus 5 with 16 GB, so that's not enough by a long shot, and the phone needs to be powered by external source, so USB HOST storage solution is out of the question.
Please let me know, thanks.

[Q] Sending files to FireTV w/External HD connected

I have a rooted FireTV with a connected external HD (1.5 TB WD) that I use for watching shows and movies via XBMC. Previously I had the hard drive connected to my laptop that sits next to the FireTV via an ethernet bridge connection, but that became cumbersome and I had to move the laptop to a new area. My router doesn't support connecting the drive as a network drive, so I figured out how to connect the HD directly to the FireTV and none of the buffering issues are present like they are over wifi with the HD connected to my ancient laptop.
Problem is, I'm not sure how to easily connect to the drive (wirelessly) from the laptop to the HD while it is connected to the FireTV so that I can move new media to it. I might be overthinking this, but is there an easy way to do this through Windows 7 on the laptop or will I need to use an FTP service or other program to connect to the HD? The FireTV comes up as a device in Network and Sharing Center but I can't double-click and see the HD like you could for other computers.
Thanks!
For me personally the easiest way I found to move files from pc to the AFTV/AFTVS is to install an app called Web PC Suite. In a nutshell it allows you to move files from your pc's web browser to the Fire TV.
Install the app on your Fire TV, run it & type in the ip & port into your web browser on your pc, accept the connection & move your files. The caveat here is, as to whether this app will recognize external storage but if your run StickMount then theoretically it should, your device has to be rooted though, for StickMount to work.
I have the Stick with no external storage attached but moving files from pc the the internal storage is a breeze.

This worked, and I was also able to FTP into there after going through some tutorials I found online for moving items to the internal storage. It took me awhile to find where the USB drive was hiding, but I did finally click through enough folders to find its path and was able to move a video file there over wifi that played via XBMC. It did, however, take about 40 mns to move a 2GB file so I'm not sure that it's best for moving files quickly but it will be nice not to have everything physically plugged into each other. I do have root and I use stickmount to mount the drive; looking forward to adding ROMS this way and using the FireTV as an emulator. I appreciate your help!
Wow, 40 min for 2 gigs? I can't say if that's a limitation on the connection, the Fire Tv or a combo of both but yeah I can see how that can become a nuisance. Anyhow, glad you found a temp. solution for now.
At that rate of transfer, you're probably better off disconnecting the external hdd & connecting it directly to your pc, at least for files that large. Smaller files you should be good to go as is.
