New Security Patch Today

Just checked for AT&T updates a few minutes ago on my Note5 and low and behold a new security patch update is available for the phone. It is a 77.77mb file. My current patch level is 2016-02-01 . . . It auto downloaded but gave me the option to hold off on the install until a later time and I did not install it. Does anyone have any information about this new security patch?

Well that's a buzz kill. I went to update and of course not on WiFi. Got all excited for nothing.

I just completed the install. It updated with a new baseband and build as follows:
Security Patch Level = 2016-05-01
Baseband = N920AUCS2APE3
Kernel (unchanged) = 3.10.61-7085450
Build Number = LMY47X.N920AUCS2APE3

Interesting... I wonder if the pressure from the FCC forced them to release this update? Doesn't make sense with their Marshmallow build OTA being developed as a PB2 to PE# convention...

So the security patch is still a month behind BPE6, which is June 1.
I wonder if those of us on BPE5 or BPE6 will have to revert to APE3 in order to get future OTA releases of 6.0.1.
And I'm curious what happens if we're on BPE5 or BPE6 and check for an OTA update now (I can't check for another several hours). Does it get confused, or does it just say we're still up-to-date?

I'm on BPE5 and checked for update. It says I'm up to date.

Just to clarify, I was on build=lmy47x.n920aucu2apb2 prior to today's patch.

Today's OTA is APB2-to-APE3.

So downloading that would be the same as waiting for the ota to come out?

I've tried to install it twice but after my phone restarts it comes up with a message that the install was interrupted. So I don't know what's going on with this update as I'm on a good wifi connection.

Waiting for which OTA to come out? We don't know if the OTA following today's APE3 will be a Marshmallow update, and if it is, we don't know if it will be BPE6.

Open firmware Finder --> Click on Add model --> Enter your model query as "DUK-L09" --> Click Ok
It will now show you in the main window as "DUK-L09" --> Select that to see the related firmware updates.
I tried to update the new firmware on my mobile and it is not allowing me with an error "unauthorized installation". Not sure why it is happening.

Chinese MiUi is partially different than Global version.
Since people in china are more into buying their stuffs so they throw in more updates as well as more supports.The reason why even Redmi 1s runs on Android 5.0 or above maybe being a very old device.
Zuk died and all its models are taken over to Lenovo line-up and ya zui being the their flavour of os in Moto's as well as Lenovo's Line-up they will be updating the firmware according to chinese ppl. Not Global ppl.

Shall we take a look at Samsung and the other incumbents? I'd consider Xiaomi as one of the most liberal when it comes to updates. Yes, the android version might not always be current depending on the device but atleast they're trying to keep even the cheapest devices fresh.

Sadly its only for China ppz.. indian version will never get Official Oreo and P ... Our only hope is Custom Roms

and what does a ZUI based on android P hurt your custom roms? It would only help devs to get better device sources, drivers and such

Latest Chinese Official Release for Z2 Plus is ZUI 4.0.199.
This is based on Oreo 8.0

There are other devices in queue now before ours.
Z5 pro and Z5 both only run 8.1.0, so expect them to get the Pie first, only us then.

Understanding the Firmware labels
Here's a better understanding of how these are broken down
G=Galaxy S series
975U or F etc, the model of device
SQ, FX etc = CPU and model specific
U,S,E = Update, Security, Engineering, respectively
1,2,3,4,5 etc = bootloader rev(this is important!)
A = Pie rev 1(This starts off with "A" as the build that is the initially shipped on the device. S10 series is Pie)
(If you ever see a build that contains a "Z" such as this: U5ZSBA, that means the build is part of Samsung's Official Beta program. The "Z" in this context replaces the Android Version letter which hides what OS it actually is.)
R,S,T = Year (R is 2018, S is 2019, T will be 2020)
A,B,C etc = month (January A - December L).
1 - 9 and then A - Z =build compilation. This basically means how many builds there are in a month. They start at 1 and go to Z.
So G975USQU1ASBA would be
G975-U-SQ-U-1-A-S-B-A
G975U (Galaxy S10+ Carrier version), SQ (Snapdragon), U (Update), 1 (Bootloader version), A (Build Pie), S (2019), B (February), A (Build)
**You CANNOT downgrade to a lower Bootloader. So if you are on a Bootloader 2 rom, you can not go to a Bootloader 1 rom.

I used the firmware science website to update my 975U1 to 975U1UEU1ASBA how long should it take on the starting Android screen? I dirty flashed may have to reset then flash...

They can roll them out in waves. You can try to clear cache and data in the Software Update app

It should typically not take TOO long. I would recommend a reset if you're having issues

I do not know what changed..... I can't find the changelog. I'm with AT&T still on Feb, 1st Security patch as well.. Anybody know what has changed????

Not if you've flashed G975U1UEU1ASBA, that is a Unlocked Firmware. G975USQU1ASBA is the Carrier version and you would get OTA (AT&T/Spr/T-Mo/AZW)

I had read that, aside from the basic security patch, they made some improvements to the fingerprint scanner (and I'll have to go look for what else, I dont remember right now)

They made some tweaks to the camera to improve quality too.

ARGGG! Thought I might have included the front camera ring notifications simpler than the APK on the Play store.

If you've got an AT&T SIM, then there should be no issues at all. You will get the AT&T bloat, but you can disable it and you will also get the "features" like Wi-Fi calling...

A50 Update

Hello , I am from pakistan and im using A50 but i am still stucked on may update. Is there any way i can flash indian firmware? Will i get OTA's after flashing?

Entire Europe here is still on 1.may update.
That is because Samsung A50 is not high end device and the updates will be released every 3-4 months. And then the Cariers have to change some things so you can add 1 month.
I think we will get next update at the end of August or maybe even in september.

Guys, I used Smart Switch in order to update my phone. Finally, I have a June update with the new camera features.
If you are from Europe with A505FN version of this device, just connect your device to Smart Switch on your PC, go to Preferences, check "Latest Software Pre-Download", and select your device and save the settings. After that, you should see the update button in the Smart Switch.
Don't know when the July update is going to be available, but at least we now have June update with new camera features. Just don't forget to reset your camera settings after updating your phone.

Sorry, but that doesn't work for me. I don't see an Update button. Still stuck on May update.

Sammobile has the updates for europe online, even the july patch thats spain firmware.

The one that has been released for Europe is the June update, even though it's says it's the July update it includes the changes from the June one (16294683) instead of the July update (16393837).

Just received the JUNE update in Germany. Just look for the normal software update in your phone settings. The change log has been vague though.

What about for phones in Africa. All of them are still on May update.

June update is available now in the Netherlands, so maybe july's will be available end of august.

after this update my phone drains battery faster. someone else noticed this?
