Using the various guides and how-to I've managed to root many Mediatek devices as well as Snapdragon 810 and 820 but I am unable to find any how-to for rooting this Elephone P11 which has a slightly aging Helio X25/MT6797T CPU running Android 8 Oreo.
Mtk_Droid_Tool can't create a scatter file for it. When I made one manually using WwR_MTK_2_51 and adb, I can't get SP_Flash_Tool-5.1916 to readback the rom.
Can anyone help please. No stock rom for me to extract boot.img and no TWRP for this device.
I got the P11 rooted! For those who want to root the elephone p11 themselves, here's how:
1. use step 2 of the [GUIDE] ROOT any Android Devices By Using Magisk Manager
with the boot.img/patched boot.img I created myself at
elephone_p11_boot.img-stock and magisked.rar
Note: the magisk version used on the patch boot.img is v 19.3 (19300) so if you don't have access to this version, you will need to create your own patched boot.img in Step 1 of the above guide.
I've included the scatter file for downloading boot.img with SP_Flash_tool.
Credit to the Hovatek forum guide that enabled me to dump the stock rom of the P11.
Brother, I also own a Elephone P11 phone. If possible could you share the Stock ROM backup of Elephone P11 you made? (will help me to restore the stock rom if something goes wrong in attempts to modify boot )
Thank you in advance

Thank you, This is the only thread found so far for Elephone P11 rooting.
Could you please share the StockROM backup of ElephoneP11 in Megashare or other Filehosting websites?
This will help to restore stock rom if something goes corrupt during rooting attempt.
Thank you a lot in advance

You have to proceed probably as with teclast x98 plus...
You cannot root with the original kernel (boot.img) in the install images, because it block root access even to adb.
You have first to flash the remix image as a whole with the flash tools they provide, next you have to flash a boot image with a kernel with cooler permissions policy, like probably the one in the chuwi stock rom (except Xiaomi and Jide, chinese manufacturers are easy on protectiins).
To know more, look at "root x98 plus" and "root x98 plus remix" on google, or you can take a look in the x98 sub-forum at www.tech-tablet.com. Everything is in there.
Thx for the info
Just used the boot.img from Chuwi stock 5.1 Android, then it was possible to root it
No need to first flash remix and after that the boot.img
i just replaced the boot.img in the Chuwi remix folder with the one from 5.1 and flashed, then rooted
peace of cake
I want to share how I downgrade my MediaPad M2 8 from EMUI 4.0 to EMUI 3.1.
All my Google stuffs stop working after the B217 update.
This guide works for my M2-801W downgrade from B217 (android 6.0) to B019 (android 5.1).
*** Take your own risk! *** I take no responsibility! ***
In fact, I followed the guide here: http://cn.club.vmall.com/thread-11410111-1-1.html
I briefly write the steps in English.
Simply speaking, you need an "intermediate" update to allow your MediaPad to flash an old stock ROM.
NOTICE
This guide is for MediaPad M2 8 EMUI 4.0 (android 6) LTE version M2-803LC233B215 (or WIFI version M2-801WC233B213) back to EMUI 3.1 (android 5.1) LTE version M2-803LC233B019 (or WIFI version M2-801WC233B019).
Make sure your MediaPad M2 8 is original without custom ROM to reduce the risk!
Backup you data! This update will clear all user data.
"INTERMEDIATE" UPDATE FILE
For M2-803LC233B215 (LTE version): https://drive.google.com/open?id=1JhrKikq6pHdkhH4jULCeUsBbm9n4QHQQ
For M2-801WC233B213 (WIFI version): https://drive.google.com/open?id=1BjbI8HsxSK_gz5yrklZIrvPZMx1P0PfZ
Make a folder "dload" on your MicroSD card. Decompress the UPDATE.APP to the folder.
( [your_sd_card]/dload/UPDATE.APP )
INSTALL UPDATE
Of course with enough battery level. Power off the device. Disconnect data cable.
Press [Power], [VolumeUp], [VolumeDown] at the same time for about 10s.
The MediaPad logo appears. Release the keys. The update will proceed.
Let the update process complete and the device will reboot.

Simply just put the update.app file in a folder called dload on the root of your SD card power off then press volume up and down plus power button then it should begin the update all the best

Hi, I downgraded the tablet to the B019 thinking that this would make work google services and all Gapps, but in this firmware there isn't anything of google.. so which is the sense of the downgrade?
Just to let it clear to the users that will read this post:

Patched global MIUI 13 boot
Search in telegram group "Xiaomi pad 5 discussion", I uploaded patched boot there or PM me @Shirubyo
Dunno why I can't see attached files here
You should really learn to use XDA properly, or even learn how to Google properly, instead of asking questions like this.
You can easily download the Fastboot ROM from plenty of sources. Inside the fastboot ROM, you'll find the boot.img.
I have long tried to downgrade my phone SM-G955F to Android 8 or 7.
I have tried many different firmwares but they all seem to fail on installing the new bootloader. I can always recover back to Android 9 using a collection of files called AP_G955FXXUCDUD1_CL21427293_QB39365969_REV00_user_low_ship_meta_OS9.tar.md5
Can anyone point me in the right direction for a ROM running android 8 or 7 that I can root.
Essentially I do not care if it is stock rom as long as I can root the device. I have successfully rooted my devices running android 9 using magisk but the essence is that I need to run android 8 or 7 and being able to use google chrome as a browser.
Any help is much appreciated
Best regards,
Erik

Hi,
1) Download the .zip file of the light ROM : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/s8-s8-nougat-01-jan-2020-v30-lightrom.3636154/
Then magisk.zip, search it on the internet.
2) Flash the ROM via a custom recovery
3) Then flash magisk.zip
4) Reboot
It will work for sure with Nougat or Oreo, with any Binary number.
You can downgrade with a custom ROM, not stock.
Lastly don't use Odin but a custom recovery !
