Install custom font through TWRP - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi everyone, I was trying to install the TWRP zip for the Product Sans font from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/font-google-sans-font-systemlessly-t3841067
I have TWRP installed and I'm running LineageOS. I tried to flash it but nothing happened on reboot. I'm honestly confused by this phone's structure (the whole A:B slot is kind of confusing), and I guess it might be the cause of my failed attempt. Could someone help? What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

The URL says Magisk, sure it's not a Magisk module?

The module did not appear on magisk either so I don't really know

If its not in the downloads list...
Magisk manager -> hamburger -> modules -> +
Then select the zip

Thanks, it worked, just another question, is it normal if when i do a safetyNet check it shows:
ctsProfile: false
basicIntegrity: false
I need to point out it indeed shows magisk version installed as v16.0
Thanks again

It depends on what Rom you use.
Usually for me its:
CtsProfile: false
basicintegrity: true
Then I flash the "magisk universal fix" in twrp and it sets them both as true.
It just means u won't get full features in banking/money apps, and in some occasions not use them at all.

Flashfire Alternative

Hey everyone, i got a new j6+ (sm-j610f) running 8.1 oreo. I rooted it via magisk patched boot.img method , also removed all the bloatware. I want ro install xposed framework but this device doesn't have a compatible twrp/cwm recovery yet, i tried using flashfire but it's not working. I'm not sure if the app isn't compatible with oreo or magisk, i granted it superuser permission but it's stuck on acquiring root access. Is there a fix for this problem, if not is there an alternative for flashfire?!

Magisk already has Xposed support. No need to install the framework separately.
Just type Xposed in the download section and install the SDK 27 version.

Look, here's how i got this phone rooted, downloaded magisk manager, patched the boot.img and flashed through odin, restored phone to factory settings bcz i was stuck with integrity verification failed and there was no way to flash dm verify disabler since there is no custom recoveries for j6+ yet. After that phone booted and magisk was installed. Haven't touched any settings nor hidden any things, and there's this message i keep getting whenever i open magisk. Each time i open magisk it popups, even if i press yes it will appear the next time open magisk.
This is the log i get after installing the additional setup

Still able to use Google Play store and certify device after root + custom rom?

Hi,
Not too long ago a weird bug forced me to do a wipe of the device before i can start using it again (was all stock). Now i'm debating on a custom rom since the biggest obstacle for me (wiping the device and reinstalling everything again after) has been taken away.
I did however remember reading about devices with root and custom rom not being able to use the play store anymore since Google marked them as unregistered and such.
Is this still a problem? or is there a work around / fix for this to be found?
Thanks in advance.

Its not a problem if you flash custom rom + gapps + magisk altogether. Once all those files are flashed successfully then only reboot to system & your Google play store will say your device is certified.

Great thank you for your reply. Was losing hope i would not get an answer anymore.
Does this mean it's possible to use Google Pay with a custom rom? Or just the play store?
Edit: I think I have found my answer reading other threads, that it does work.

Alright so i have managed to install lineage and gapps, but somehow i cant get magisk to work.
1) can i just leave it like this without magisk and not have problems with google uncertified stuff?
2) if the above can't be done or if i can still somehow install magisk, please explain how. (i rooted one other time long ago with superSU, i dont have experience with magisk). I followed: https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-magisk/ but i get an error 1 when trying to install in TWRP.
Please help and thanks in advance

To make magisk working properly just make sure you have /data partition EXT4 formatted also install this version of TWRP for Lenovo p2 https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=5862345805528044694 after that install latest version of magisk through recovery & you will be able to install magisk successfully.

Correct. Even with Magisk root Google Pay and other secure banking apps work fine. You may just need to activate Magisk hide for certain apps.

Thank you for your reply.
Yes i did format the data partition to ext4. I used the TWRP version of their original website, searched for the lenovo p2a42 and found kuntao_row. (twrp-3.2.3-0-kuntao_row.img to be exact). Is there a difference in the version you linked there and this one ?
I currently have lineageos with gapps installed and working. If i am going to try and make magisk work. Are the following steps correct?:
1) install magisk manager
2) shut down and enter fastboost
3) flash different TWRP version
4) Boot into TWRP recovery
5) install magisk from ext sd
6) Then done? Or do i need to reinstall LineageOS and gapps again after those steps? And maybe wipe and reformat again at some points? if so, where?
Again thanks in advance and i really appreciate the help.

Just download latest version of the magisk, keep it somewhere in the storage then reboot to recovery, update your current recovery by the recovery I have given you above, reboot again to recovery then flash magisk & reboot to system. After successful flashing of magisk zip install magisk manager apk from play store or Google.

Hi,
Back again haha. It still works properly and almost have everything set up as i wanted to. One more question arose:
The system is telling me there is a new version update for lineageos.
I am assuming i just click download on the latest version, then reboot into recovery (backup as optional), click install, search the zip and let it install then reboot again is the way to install it. But do i have to reinstall gapps? and does this process delete any data or is it just like a normal update and everything stays the way it was before installing the update?
Thanks again in advance.

Question Can someone explain to me how to root this phone using ArrowOS ROM?

Hi all, I am very confused. I am trying to figure out how to root this phone. I read the instructions for magisk and attempted to patch the boot.img file linked in the ArrowOS post (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1o-4T4hfEtxECIss-DVSSYAM1Kvy2iDN9/view?usp=sharing)
But whenever I flash that patched boot.img I am getting stuck on a bootloop. And then I found someone already patched the boot.img on August (this post) but that boot.img does not pass safetynet.
Can someone explain to me what I am doing wrong and how to properly root this phone? Thanks!

Open developers options enable usb debugging , connect pc type in CMD :
adb reboot bootloader && fastboot boot
( After fastboot boot space and then you drag and drop twrp file )
Phone boots into twrp , copy magisk from pc and paste to phone , press install in twrp and choose magisk. That's it , I make sure to leave inject twrp as disabled. If you want to install twrp first reboot into system make sure magisk works alright then boot into twrp again and install via advanced menu
Can you explain the "copy magisk from pc and paste to phone , press install in twrp and choose magisk" part? It is not very clear?
Is this a different method instead of patching the boot.img? If so, is this permanent or temporary and I need to use recovery every time to re-enable root?
Just flash the magisk apk file using twrp, yes you can flash apk file on twrp. Make sure 'inject twrp' is unchecked! Reboot then wait till magisk app appears on app drawer and run it then follow the steps it will tell.
Ok, that worked. But the SafetyNet checks are not passing though! How can I make it pass?

you really cant do anything about that now, google recently announced that they are implementing a hardware attest method for every phone. That means once you root the device, you wont be able to pass safety net, given that its hardware level now, its near impossible to find a solution now but im pretty sure there are some ways to trick it into giving the safety net a pass status, but im currently not aware of one.

[Question] What is the right way to Update to Magisk 25 and if it is necessary.

So I tried to update my redmi note 8 [12.06. global rom android 10] to magisk 25 in the MAGISK MANAGER and after flashing it there, it showed "The system has been destroyed".
So I troubleshoot it (thanks to the guides here) and reverted to the magisk 24 version prior to 25.
So my question is what is the right way to update it (if anyone has a GUIDE to update magisk) and if it is necessary to update to magisk 25.

So in short flash it in twrp (install > find magisk 25.zip and shazam)? correct me if I'm wrong I'm quite a newbie in twrp.
I have to agree to your saying that if it works don't fix lol.
Thanks for the information
