Only basic, but always better having something a bit diff' now and again.

Is there any other way to take a picture on myself without having to tap the screen? With the normal camera-mode? Its really hard to find the button when the screen is facing against you. There should be a button on the phones side for that as well I think?
And, have bought a brand new desire now, had wildfire before and rooted. Is it the same procedures for this? And can someone give me a good ROM-tips?
No hardware button for the Desire, sadly.
Well the easiest way to take self shots is either with the timer or having your finger on the screen before turning the device
The process is almost the same, but to make sure everything goes OK, we need some details (bootloader info, system/software info).
Good ROMs - Depends on what you need.
Leedroid/InsertCoin/RCMix - are good sense based ROMs
MIUI - Iphone like AOSP ROM, with great additional features.
CyanogenMod7/Oxygen/Gingervillain - AOSP ROMs - Nexus look, super fast.
Take your pick
thanks for the replies! To bad with the camera! That sucks.
Going to update myself with the rootingprocess and the switching ROM-process.
Had Cyanogenmod on the wildfire! Liked it!
Did not like sense in the wildfire though, is it a good thing to stay out of it in this phone aswell?
Think maybe I will try the Oxygen, seems neat! But no radio from what I have understand.
actually, on both redux and cyanogenmod 7 (which to my knowledge use the stock android cam) you can use the optical trackpoint to take pictures

Okay, that sounds good...have to test that! thanks
Hi,
I decided to try Miui for the first time yesterday, I really liked it and would have stayed with it for a while except I couldn't stand the awful lag. I flashed RD Miui and Miui-X but they both had the same lag. Sort of juddery transitions and scrolling. Also, there was a really long pause before the lock screen comes up after pressing the power button. This happened on both roms.
Is this normal for Miui roms or have I done something wrong, or not done something I should have? Things like pulling down the notification bar were stuttering, not majorly but it certainly wasn't smooth. I'd love to go back to Miui if anyone knows a workaround or fix for this.
Thanks
Well I've been using miui for months now...
I haven't really experienced any lag.. except for the very occasional home scrolling transitions but that's about it.
Try changing the theme or reinstalling the rom, I've never heard of this amount of lag before.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
They appear smoother than sense ROMs for me, don't know what's going on on your side of things.
Thanks for the feedback. Not sure what's wrong but it sounds like it's something at my end. I'm going to flash Miui again, see if things are any better. If not, I'll try changing themes as suggested.
Thanks
I loaded this into my 7/10/13 Evervolv Nightly today and gave it a whirl. It works slightly better than the regualar camera that comes with with the ROM. The picutes turn out perfect. The on-screen settings all work. The video is working, but not real usable. The sound turns out perfect, but the video is pretty janky at best. Have any of you figured out a fix for this yet? Is there anything we can do to make this better? I just odexed my ROM and apps, but it didn't really help the camera at all. Outside of that the odexing made everything seem a little faster and smoother. It was already quick, so I can't be sure my eyes are not decieving me. Anybody got anything to add to this?

Although it won't give you video the one camera I've found that works well on ICS and JB roms is Camera360. Just make sure you turn off the effects tab in settings so you get regular pictures. I went through many different camera apps till I found this one. The only time I ever had a issue was kernel related....changed the kernel and it worked great.
Let me know how that works for you.
Replacing TouchWiz with the clean new look of lollipop is something I wish I could do, but some missing features ruin it for me! Crashes, GPS problems, and especially the camera.
I take a lot of pictures, and I enjoy the Samsung Camera. Having to use Google Camera is just.. bleh. It's simple. WAY too simple.
Why is there really no solid, universal camera application? There are many camera apps on the play store, but I've tested almost all of them, and they ALL lack something important.
Has anyone else desired a powerful universal camera application?
Or know of one that isn't missing any key features.
Try open camera? I love it. Doesn't have beauty face and extra modes but as far as an actual camera for free it's great Imo
I'm assuming you talking about running a non-touchwiz rom that doesn't come with the Samsung camera.?
Surely you can find an apk for a compatible version. ?
The latest stable version of cyanogenmod 13 in the original android section is running pretty stable for me. No GPS problems or crashes. Just make sure to turn off the automatic brightness since that's a bit wonky.
As far as camera apps. Try a better camera or ABC I think it's called. It's pretty feature packed.
Snapcamera. Hands down the best out of the box in terms of features and control over settings. Now, the proprietary camera app that Samsung bundles has lower level access to the hardware that no 3rd party developer can tango with...yet. The low light options work the sensor differently from what I understand (takes multiple high speed images and composites them, that's why it tells you to hold still when snapping the shot). That being said, if you hate touchwiz, which I do, run with CM13, grab Snapcamera, be happy.
I have a OnePlus 3. I did a full wipe and installed TugaPower. Great ROM and really smooth and snappy. However my camera takes really bad pics: it looks like it's overexposing a colour or applying a filter. I was on stock and then Resurrection ROM before this and no issues there.
So pics will come out really white (even without flash), really foggy like a filter has been applied or in a blue-ish colour. I've reinstalled the ROM, again after a full wipe but same happens. I've tried three different camera apps as welll, all have the same problem. I would say 7 out of every 10 pics are affected this way. A few pics can be found here. I literally took directly after each other. As you can see the quality differs wildly.
I don't think this is a Tugapower issue as no one seems to be having this so posting this here instead.
I cleaned the lense of the camera as well.
Any ideas or tips are much appreciated...
Update: flashed the unified RessurectionRemix ROM and camera is taking nice pictures again.

Try Sultans ROM, still on marshmallow but if you want a camera experience identical to OOS (in my opinion better) and good stability and performance, that's where its at.
I don't get it.. oxygen beta release is better than any ROM you can download here and not lose the camera!
On lineage the pictures are really good
