[help] Unable to restore to stock image - Pixel C Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a Pixel C that I looking to sell and wanted to return it to stock recovery/image. After attempting to manually flash the image files and getting a error on all, I double checked my bootloader status and it appears to be unlock as indicated on the device. However, after using the skipsoft unified android toolkit, it shows my device as locked. I have unlocked and locked, and repeated this process so many times and I still cannot flash the stock image onto the device.
All and any help is appreciated.
Thank you,
Michael

Lock on phone bootup

Hi all,
My brother and I recently purchased two Galaxy Nexus for ourselves.(phone not officially launched in India, where I live). We both have the yakuxw and are awaiting the 4.2 update.
As Samsung is taking forever to push it, we are contemplating flashing to a Takju. One strange thing ive noticed is that when my phone boots when the Google logo displays I see a lock at the bottom, but my brother doesnt.
Could some 1 tell me what does that mean ? is it the bootloader lock ?
Thanks in advance
The icon must look like an unlocked lock, which means the bootloader is unlocked. If your brother's phone doesn't show any icon at all, that means that his bootloader is locked. If you're planning on flashing takju on both phones, you must unlock their bootloaders and root them. It's best to use the GNex Toolkit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
Note that when I tried downloading Google stock images through the toolkit, it didn't work. I had to download them manually from here:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#takju
And place the file in the folder called "put_google_factory_image_here" within the GNex Toolkit folder.

There is a sticky in this section created by Jubakuba, use it instead.
Beamed from my Maguro.
Thanks for the replies.
But I need to know for sure what this means.
This is what it looks like.

It means the bootloader is unlocked, as said already...boot your phone into the bootloader and you'll see yours says unlocked whereas the other will say locked

Thanks , I booted to the bootloader and saw the words "unlocked"
So, when I use any toolkit I can skip the Unlocking of the bootloader step right ? Sorry to sound like a noob.

lollipop OTA fail

Hi guys I got the lollipop OTA for my nexus ( completely stock), never tinkered with it and the OTA installed but now its stuck on "google" screen and constantly bootloops. I have done some reading and I tried to unlock bootloader via Wugfresh toolkit and normal fastboot oem method but no avail, it gets stuck on the "yes" option.
Basically I have a locked bootloader which fails to unlock, and nexus stuck in google logo, any guidance will be much appreciated. Plz point me towards the right direction. :crying:
Try to unlock the bootloader from adb with OEM unlock command. The steps are posted above the factory images on Google's dev site.
yeah I tried that and tablet gets stuck on the yes option at unlock bootloader screen and nothing happens for 20 minutes , i have to restart it. I've read around and it seems like my emmc might have corrupted. Any pointers?

Well I can only think of one thing. Buy a new nexus. There aren't any listings for the Wi-Fi version and the LTE on Swappa. However there is some other devices on Swappa.

ZE551KL-Z00TD: Unfortunately, Unlock Device Tool has stopped working.

For the past 5 hours I've been scrawling through forum posts and google search results trying to simply find a way to root my device. I use my phone for PC repair A LOT and not having DriveDroid is a massive hinderance.
I finally found that I need to unlock my boot loader before I can root. So I did exactly what the forum post said.
1. Download Unlock tool (ZE551KL)
2. Enable Unknown APKs
3. Move tool to phone
4. Install and run
5. Go through all checkboxes and agree and continue.
Then the app gives me the error message in the title.
"Unfortunately, Device Unlock Tool has stopped working."
Device information:
Model number
ASUS_Z00TD
Android version
6.0.1
Android security patch level
June 1, 2016
Build number
WW_user_21.40.1220.1708
I guess my question is just that. Is there any way to unlock and root this phone? Currently, it's been factory reset and is unlock SIM-wise, but that's it.
TIA.
I just realized that update 1708 wasn't available for the ZE551KL but was for the ZE550KL. The person I bought the phone off somehow got 1708 on the ZE551KL?
You can't unlock 6.0 at this point downgrade and unlock

Does anyone know which framework supports the unlock device tool?

From here, it says that CM nightly builds need MM firmware. Meaning downgrading isn't an option. What do we do about that? thanks :good:

I do not believe you can flash factory images on a device with a locked bootloader. You must unlock the bootloader to flash factory images. If you are attempting to move from 8.0 to 8.1, I believe your best, and perhaps only, options would be to either take the OTA through the normal process from within Android when it is offered to you or you may also be able to sideload the OTA by following the directions on the Google page linked here: https://developers.google.com/android/ota. Good luck!

Thank for your response I upgrade for ADB the ota 8.1 thanks
because the factory images from google are properly signed you should be able to flash them with locked bootloader no problem.
lol nevermind, newer devices do require you to unlock bootloader to flash even factory images!?
https://developers.google.com/android/images
though official instructions tell you to re-lock after for security (don't do this if you installed root/supersu/magisk or anything else! lol)

Thank you for replying.
Everything got locked.. Bootloader locked of course, even OEM locked.
If i can boot into recovery, I can recover with OTA. and everything will be ok..
but OS has not installed, so It shows "Can't find valid operating system". (Status is same just like as Google's "NO OS on Pixel 2 XL" mistake)
I'm stupidest person in 2018. :crying::crying::crying:

Whatever you did doesn't make you stupid my friend. I've bricked 2 phones myself on my android learning experience. If you can get into recovery, you should be able to side load an OTA. Then again, I bet you already tried that.

I can get into fastboot, but oem locked, bootloader locked, so I can't do anything with fastboot. just reboot command works well.

Then you should at least try deuces recovery script. Who knows, it might work :good:
Or you can go to the proper people, aka google, stop doing whatever shady mess your doing and be careful next time.

You can load the factory image from Google regardless if you're still OEM locked or not.
It's a signed image from Google... Signed images are accepted by the phone always.
The point of unlocking is to use unsigned images from developers other than google.

No. Even google said if user want to flash factory images, whatever it is stock & signed, user should unlock OEM and even bootloader. (Reference : https://developers.google.com/android/images)
I did several times, it didn't work without it.
I sent LG, because i live in korea.
It will be fine.
Thanks!
