I have the Redmi 7 2GB/16GB and the specs says this model doesn't have panorama mode, it's only available in 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB, but that function is really hardware related? AFAIK even and old phone have this function in camera and the Redmi 7 shares the same specs in all versions except for the RAM/Storage configuration... After unlocking the bootloader is there a way to enable this function?

Hi there guys.
So I just watched watch a hands on video of mi8 se. So It has the same rear sensors as redmi note 5(ai). Mi8 Se can record 720p 240fps and 1080p 120fps.
So both of them having the same sensor, can we unlock the same video feature as mi8 se?
If I'm wrong at something please feel free to correct me.
Thank you.

I think, same sensors doesnt mean RN5 AI has the same capability to record as same as Mi8SE too. Because not only the sensor, but also the processor. And this 2 device has different processor. RN5 AI using 636 while Mi8 SE using the new 710 processor form its predecesor 660.
But because its android, we'll see in the future our RN5 devices can record as same as the Mi8SE
If im wrong feel free to correct too

yes both have different processor snapdragon 636 and snapdragon 710 but both of the processor are capable of recording 1080p at 120fps its upto xiaomi wheter they want to implement it on redmi note 5 pro or not.
you can see the asus zenfone 5 have same processor but a different camera sensor sony imx 363 can record at 1080p at 120fps..
I am really sorry if this is not a place to post this but I couldn't find it.
The forum description says that this is for redmi note 5 with 20MP front camera.
I have version with 13 MP front camera and dual primary camera. Is there even a subforum for my version of device?
Sorry for the confusion?

yes it's true, but just because the indian version has sony sensor on the front cam doesn't mean it's better.
imo the global version is brighter (f/2.0 1.12µm) compared to f/2.2 1µm.
I mean yes the indian version has a lot more resolution, but that's not how it works to judge how good the camera is.

some gcam mods are working for the global vers.
I tested MGC 5.1.018 Urikill.
The front camera is working fine except the HDR+.
I don't know if it's my settings or just the mod.
My advice is just try it all, you'll never know if you don't try. Make sure to enable the camera2api
Anyone Got the Google camera 6.1 (Pixel 3) stable port for Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Ai/Pro.. Mine keeps crashing when i changed to front camera.. If anyone has a stable version please comment down below...Thank You..
Front camera doesn't work on Global/Chinese version only on India version (because of the front sensor).
Global/Chinese version uses Omnivision OV13855 while India version uses Sony IMX376, which is compatible with Pixel 3's GCAM.

Buy the Indian version.
Was wondering if the 12 MP IMX486 camera sensor on the Redmi Note 5 pro could be replaced with the 12 MP Samsung S5K2L7 camera sensor from a Redmi Note 6 pro. Since they have the same SoCs too.

No you can't replace it because the camera libraries aren't the same and it simply won't work.

It's difficult to modify the camera libraries itself moreover to port libraries from different phone. And it's not only libraries - it's also firmware to make sensor from another phone to work on RN5, also motherboard specs etc.

front camera not working.
There is none. Not even for the snapdragon version (which is the better edition imo and better supported by gcam) so the alternative edition (exynos) is out of luck as well.
For some reason this phone does not seem to be compatible with gcam and no one is working on it. Of course people are posting config files and claiming some versions work, but they don't.
It is not a working version if the main lens, or any lens is not usable, or if the viewfinder freezes after 2 seconds or if HDR doesn't work.
Of course it would work without HDR or image enhancing, but that would really ruin the point. The point of gcam Is that it's image optimization let's it make better photos than stock camera. If you disable image optimization because you cannot give it sensor hardware access then it is just a regular camera app, called gcam, nothing more.
