Hi guys,
I'm in trouble with my OP3T and would really appreciate your help here.
I dropped the phone to the ground and broke the screen and digitizer
I would like to cast the screen to my chromecast to recover my files and maybe later repurpose the phone as a media player through a displaylink adapter.
I have connected a USB keyboard and mouse and can interact with the phone.
Can someone guide me through the steps (keypresses) to enable the cast to my chromecast?

Just login into your One+ account , demand an RMA, follow the instructions and for around 120 euro you will be all good within 2 weeks with a fully functional phone.
Yeah sure I thought about that but I've been a fool and bought the phone on gearbest, hoping to save a little bit at that time...
As the phone was not bought on the oneplus website, it's a bit tricky for the warranty.
Furthermore, I wasn't aware that it was a model made for the Chinese market so the 4G reception has always been horrible here in Europe.
The local repair shops are asking 160€ or more to replace the screen, it's not worth it especially knowing about the non-existent 4G.
Ok I managed to cast another phone to my chromecast using only the usb keyboard/mouse... but I guess the menu structure is not the same on the OP3T as that doesn't work.
Here is what I have thus far:
- Unlock the phone with fingerprint
- Open the app panel with the mouse (move to the bottom of the screen then drag it up)
- Type "param" > this will filter the list, only the parameters app will remain
- Press TAB twice to highlight the parameters app
- Press ENTER
The next part is tricky but doable:
- Move the cursor at the top right of the screen
- Move the cursor slightly down and left and click on the search icon (you have to fish for it a little bit, but you can hear a "click" once you've succeeded)
- Type "cast"
- Press TAB
- Press ENTER (that brings you to the display menu)
- Go at the bottom (Press the down arrow until you stop hearing click sounds)
- Press ENTER to select the cast menu
- Press TAB to select the chromecast device (only one in my case)
- Press ENTER to start casting
I would be very grateful if someone could try on his OP3T and tell me what differs and what key sequence I should press :good:
Hi bronderb,
Yes stock rom (rooted).
Unlocked bootloader and TWRP if that matters.

If your version of TWRP has USB-OTG enabled, then you can boot into recovery and use your mouse to take a full backup.
TWRP also enables MTP and you can retrieve the backup to your laptop.

Except I can't really use the mouse to create a backup in TWRP as I don't see the screen
I did recover some files with using ADB while in recovery mode, but I didn't manage to do a full backup.
And that won't help me in re-purposing the phone to play prime video and local media files through a displaylink adapter

For a full backup, you can create an openrecoveryscript which is recognized by TWRP and upon boot into recovery, TWRP will automatically make a backup as specified in the script and you can pull that over MTP.

It's cheaper than that. To be more precise it costs 88 EUR. Just sent mine last week
I still would like to reuse the phone as a media center.
If someone can guide me to enable chrome cast or setup a display link adapter without replacing the screen...

Hello everyone,
I would like to recover the data from my Xiaomi Mi 9 SE (stock and non-rooted OS), including photos, videos, and email accounts. However, the display is completely broken (it does not display anything) and I cannot access the internal memory through ADB because I cannot unlock the display. Is there a way to unlock it via ADB or other software? In the worst case, can I buy a cheap display (not the original one because it costs about 200 euros) and connect it to the smartphone mainboard? I don't know if there are differences among display connectors or they use a specific standard.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Try using a Usb-C to HDMI adapter to connect it to a Display. But then you need to connect a mouse...maybe there is a single to connect 2 usb devices.I'm not sure

This is also a good advice, thanks. I will look for a cheap "external" touch display, Thanks!

You may try (if you didn't already) to enter unlock pin/password via ADB - didn't test, not sure if it works on MIUI:

The following works for me to unlock the screen by ADB, but:
- ADB must be already enabled on the phone
- PC you are using must be already granted ADB
- Phone must be rooted
- ADB must be already granted root access
(Otherwise e.g. Magisk pops up to grant root-access to ADB but screen is still locked and you cannot confirm)
First, verify ADB, enter the shell and su mode
Code:
adb wait-for-device devices
adb shell
su
At this point press Power button (if screen is ok, it would light up).
By the first command you swipe the screen (if screen is ok, you would see popup to enter the unlock pin/pass)
By the second command you enter your unlock pin/password
Code:
input touchscreen swipe 930 880 930 380
input text <your-screen-unlock-pin-password>
At the end, exit su and shell:
Code:
exit
exit
So, I have two SIM cards (both locked by pin) and lock screen (all the same).
Keyevent 66 means Ok.
The following worked for me to unlock the phone on reboot:
Code:
adb wait-for-device devices
adb shell
su
input text 1234
input keyevent 66
input text 1234
input keyevent 66
input touchscreen swipe 930 880 930 380

exit

Btw, I just tested on my unrooted Huawei Mate 9 (EMUI 9.1, Android 9) and it works without root, hence without su command
But on Xiaomi (mine is Mi 9T with MIUI 11, Android 10) it requires root and su command
You may try without su command on your Mi 9SE, but probably it won't work without the root and that su command

Did it worked?
I'm having the same problem, broken screen and no image, everything else is fine. But I have unlocked bootloader.
Just delivered an adapter type-c to hdmi+usb, so I can connect to a display and use a mouse. I'll give it a try
Hi, I need one help, I am using redmi note 8 pro MIUI 12.5.6 I am able to enter to my phone home by using phone lock but I forgot my app lock pattern, so I am not able to open any app. could you please suggest any solution without doing hard reset. I created second space but not able to see data from first space. even if somehow I can see data from first space, I will copy all data and then I can go for hard reset. awaiting response on this.
Do you have usb debugging active?
Hi all,
I'm trying to use SecondScreen app ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...screen-mirroring-for-android-devices.2766268/ ) on my Oneplus 9 PRO but this feature it seems doesn't work....
I have asked to releaser and he told me that he would need to know the "sysfs path for turning off the OnePlus 9 Pro's backlight" but I'm not able to find it...
Is there anyone knows this path ?
If so, I could tell it to the releaser and he could add this info into its app by an update...
Many thanks to all !
The SecondScreen app is designed to work with devices that have a secondary display, and unfortunately, the OnePlus 9 Pro does not have a secondary display. However, if you still want to use the SecondScreen app on your OnePlus 9 Pro, you can try the following steps:
Download and install the SecondScreen app from the Google Play Store.
Go to Settings > Developer options on your OnePlus 9 Pro and enable USB debugging.
Connect your OnePlus 9 Pro to your computer using a USB cable.
Download and install the ADB (Android Debug Bridge) tool on your computer.
Open a command prompt or terminal window on your computer and navigate to the folder where you have installed ADB.
Type the following command and press Enter: adb shell pm grant com.farmerbb.secondscreen.free android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Disconnect your OnePlus 9 Pro from your computer.
Open the SecondScreen app on your OnePlus 9 Pro, and you should be able to use its features.
Please note that these steps may not guarantee the SecondScreen app's full functionality on your OnePlus 9 Pro, as the app is primarily designed for devices with secondary displays. However, the above steps will allow you to access the app's features and settings.

Everything goes well with it but I would like to swtich off the phone backlight during mirroring and this app could be the right choise.
I have already tried with root and unroot phone ( with adb commands ).
I already have done all the steps needed
I have already write a PM to the releaser and he told me what I have already above write.....
I repeat my question : is anyone who knows the "sysfs path for turning off the OnePlus 9 Pro's backlight" ?
Thanks !
