Hello all
Note 5 is on offer in the UK for £99 so i've bought one to use as a high capcity mp3 player to take on holiday. I will be using it as a offline media player in aeroplane mode and perhaps the odd phone call.
Is there a better rom for battery life?
Still fairly new to this but have rooted and installed a custom rom on my old g6 plus, which I now use a hi fi server/chromecast audio remote... it seems that Xiaomi's are a little more complex though.
Any advice appreciated!
I recommend AEX Official 6.5 Oreo Firmware with Basic Kernel. Best battery backup for me.

I couldn't find information, apart from the battery life what are the differences between Aosip and Aosip derpfest?
If it's just for playing music offline and a phonecall now and then, why don't you try miui first? I get 10 hrs sot on latest pie.
I wouldn't suggest pre installed music player though.
If your device is new, any rom will give you a good battery life, I use Whyred as a secondary phone and I can easily get 10-11 of sot with any rom/kernel (the device has 3 months, the battery is practically new), so don't worry about that, use the one you like the most, it will work well.
With one thing and another it's taken me two days to get the bootloader unlock started and now I have to wait 7 days! Will the thing actually unlock then?

NOT pixel experience. It's a great rom but currently there's a bug that limits the battery to 85% of it's total capacity

Sorry, i misspellt. Battery, not banner .
Since pixel experience is by a far margin the most popular rom for whyred, i thought that it would be good to put this here.

Again, what?
Do you know that battery info is stored inside the batterydata of the kernel dts and it's R/O?
Batterydata of PE kernel (The important here is "qcom,nom-batt-capacity-mah").
Rom info, CPU-Z and Ampere, If your apps have bugs, blame the apps not the rom, I'm sorry, but your previous statement doesn't make any sense.
Also, you can make a cat/grep of the battery info with any terminal app.
Funny, my phone is locked, I not use any custom Stuff. I'm on the latest MIUI 10.3.1 with Stock Kernel and Android 9. I have 18% left and have already over 9 hours of SOT and my phone is 7 months old, with daily usage.

One of the biggest issues in the current Oreo ROMs is the mobile network standby drain.
People using the Pie alphas should report if it still exists or has been fixed, although I don't see any new baseband and hence the chances of latter are less.

I think I'm going to flash a really old stock ZUI for the firmware and then flash the legendary AEX 4.6 Nougat. That seems to be the only way forward to get some decent battery life and stability.

You could also install the viper os 3.0 final build but the problem with that is that it doesnt have the cameraapi 2 enabled on that because of that the google cam wouldnt work. The photos taken by the google cam and stock cam differ in the quality by a huge margin to be ignored

I ended up dowloading ZUI 2.0.093 Indian for qfil and ZUI 2.5.104 stock recovery zip (qpst one for this wasn't downloading for me).
I flashed ZUI 2.0 via qfil successfully, and received a small oTA to 2.0.133, and then decided to flash 2.5 via recovery, but failed to get it work. Anyways, decided to go ahead and unlock the BL and then I ended up flashing only the baseband from Indian 2.5.099 (data quota restrictions ).
After that I flashed the last build of AEX 4.6, used it for a day and the standby drain was not like a drain overthere. Unless I did not use hotspot, it wouldn't show up in top 5.
Few hours later, got a notification for a rebased release of Jaguar oreo, and couldn't resist from trying it out. Initial impressions were great, but slowly the standby drain started creeping in, and within a few hours it rose to the top. Luckily I made a nandroid backup of the AEX 4.6 Installation which I reverted to last night.
I do miss the oreo features though
Developers should look around the way Oneplus 6T addressed the issue. Coz I heard, they almost fixed the issue in the new phone.

So does this problem exist for all android phones that are above android Oreo??? or is it just for our phones. The thing iam trying to understand here is that is it google that messed up android or is the developer that created the roms for our phone that messed up. Its actually funny how the phone uses more battery when the phone is not in use.:cyclops::cyclops:

After creating a nandroid backup of fully loaded aex 4.6, I'm back to living on the bleeding edge. Going back to aex 4.6 wasn't as good in terms for battery performance Z I expected it to be.
Currently on october pixel exp pie and the latest gcam pixel3 mod and even the pixel 2 mods frequently crash the phone (kernel panic maybe) during HDR processing. Didn't have time for debugging so received a lot of frowning from family for missed shots and extended wait times but who cares as whatever gcam was able to shoot was unbelievable.
Would be moving to the latest AEX pie with 4.4 kernel soon as I have read that the new kernel will improve the battery life.

Hmm, is this issue specific to Oct build of PE Pie ROM ? Or you witnessed with earlier versions of PE too?
Battery life started decreasing after beginning of Android Oreo 8.1.
I'm using Viper Nougat Final + OSS Cam patch. I'm pretty happy with it.
Is updating firmware to zui 4.0 can solve draining problem

Which rom and baseband do you use ??
ZUI 5 GSI has very low standby drain and SOT is also really good between oreo roms. You can try it once.
mine was so bad
I lose 25-30 percent through the night everynight and, I just replaced my battery for 3 month.
i don't know what's going on.
Can any one recommend me some good battery rom please ?

I'm new to Xiaomi mi max 32Gb. At the moment, I'm running MIUI 9 global 8.2.24 beta and the battery life is fantastic, 11 hours of SOT, but every time I flash a custom roms the battery drain is crazy, 5 hours of SOT. I have tried a couple of custom roms but it's always the same. I get about half of battery life in any custom roms. Is there something that I'm doing wrong
same as mew , more SOT in miui than Other non miui custom rom.

You should install:
-greenify:Restrict background apps activity
-app opsisable (location+keep phone awake+kee app in background) for all apps
-betterbatterystats:shows you what drains the battery
-run battery saver mode
-install custom kernel
when i first bought this phone and used miui i charge every 3 days. with custom rom and greenify, every day. so up to you. u want long battery or custom rom

Which costume ROM's?
Stable unofficial LineageOS (nijel8) out of the box gives 11~12h of SOT while stable global MIUI 9.5.2.0 gives 5 to 8 h SOT.
This is normal use without heavy gaming of course.

Well obviously you did something wrong. With more costume scheduler settings people where getting & up to 17h of SOT (but that whose with rather extreme approach) on unofficial LineageOS 14.1 with light usage all well documented on power/performance thread. Had a guy with similar problem as you around month ago, his problem turned out to be a binary leftovers from dirty flashes of different costume ROM's. After he did it properly thing's changed. The name of user whose arbitrarygrill, read couple of pages back.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/development/rom-lineageos-14-1-t3529851/page436
& you can always get more with costume scheduler/hotplug script's. Prime concern whose to match good old MIUI 8.2 - 8.3 SOT out of the box but with much better performance & without MIUI limitations (background apps/services aggressive killing) which we achieved in all arias mostly by working on kernel which Xiaomi never did & it's a source of most firmware problems today. Fun part is that 90% of back supplementary settings & libs are the same today; Xiaomi uses CAF settings & libs across the board (same as our unofficial Lineage is) and unofficial LineageOS uses the vendor libs from MIUI aside from ROM (apps) side only general difference is the kernel for which I vouch that our works much better & is safer.

Kernel is already semi costume, only a couple of things are added that are really beneficial as FIOPS IO scheduler & are set as defaults.
I need a suggestion of custom rom which gives me more screen on time. It may be any android version but what i need is. I need more screen on time and as well as dash charging supported. So that i can flash and use it without any low battery.

Depends on your customisation, usage and apps. That being said, in my opinion, sky dragon is the best pie rom, you can give it a try.
And go to havoc pie rom thread and search for "jamal", the search results will have a long af post by some user whose name starts with p.
It's a battery saving guide. That will help you get a lot of sot.
I have been using skydragon since 4 days.

As my view, I just don't advise Havoc...
and I just feel that, maybe All Aosp-based rom is better than Lineage-based.. I tried Nitrogen, Omni, Havoc, AospA, AospExtended, Unicorn, from N to P, I could see Lineages is not well at SOT.
for my personal opinion, I support Aospextended & Nitrogen(bad temper dev XD)
just waiting for stable Aospextended pie. coming soon!

Hi I've been using the default Xiaomi ROM since I bought this device about a year ago. It was working fine with the Android 9 upgrade, but I noticed Android 10 runs noticeably slow. So I want to change the ROM, but I'm unaware if the issues are because of Xiaomi ****ing up, or if Android 10 is not light enough for the device. So I want to know which custom ROM of the ones available in this forum would best suit me if what I'm looking for is reliability and speed. I would like to stay in Android 10 if possible, so if anyone got experiences with custom Android 10 ROMS that could give some insight into their performance with this device I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
HavocOS is pretty nice, also Pixel Experience is pretty nice but when I was testing it, it had pretty bad battery 5-6h SoT. If I were you I would wait for POSP to be updated which should hopefuly happen soon. I personally use HavocOS vanilla and it works great, only issue I have is bluetooth audio that stutters rarely, and battery might not satisfy you. I get about 8h of SoT, while on stock android one I was able to get 12-13h

By default the OS is almost not dozing, so you can see a bit more of battery usage, but you can tweak the kernel to save battery and make it last "forever", see the instructions on butterfly kernel post.
Hi there!
My OnePlus 5T is 3 years old and the battery lasts less and less.
I use the CrDroid rom (Android 11) at the moment, but the battery does not last long.
My question is: Which rom is the best in terms of battery consumption? OxygenOS 9, OxygenOS 10 or some other custom rom like LineageOS, Paranoid Android, Bliss ROM or CarbonROM?
Thanks a lot.
Try pixel experience 11... I'm using it for 3 months and I'm really in love with the rom
Need an answer to this also. I love the OP5T but it's pushing 4-5 years old and I already replaced the battery once and it's barely lasting half a day sometimes. What ROM should I go with, or is 4 hours SOT as much as it gets no matter what?
