Widevine with unlocked bootloader / lingeage os - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

Does unlocking my bootloader and flashing a custom rom change my widevine level?

Yes. You'll drop to Widevine L3 and if you root you'll lose access to Netflix though that's just because Netflix doesn't play well with root at all and you'll need a modded apk

widevine L1 DRM and custom roms

Im planing on going to the service centre and getting the widevine patch. Will widevine L1 patch survive a bootloader unlock and a custom ROM?
They patched mine when bootloader was unlocked. I installed lots of custom ROMs and I still have widevine L1, so I guess your phone will also survive. Let them patch your phone with bootloader already unlocked
If by survive, you mean flashing a custom ROM, then coming back to stock, then yes. It survives.
If you mean L1 working on custom ROMs, then no.
I don't really know how this works, but I can confirm that after the patch, moving to a custom ROM removed (hid) it, and reverting to OxygenOS brought it back.

unlocking bootloader and widevine

Hi , I would like to unlock the bootloader ->root(magisk)-> install viper4android and blocking ad module.I have updated to 12.0.1.0(RJSEUXM) (android 11) completely stock.
What about the widevine L1 ? If i unlock the bootloader i lose the L1 forever or only when unlocked or only when phone is rooted.
Is there any module for the device to be in L1 state and rooted?
Has anyone tested it?

Edit - retested and it's L1
Because I had vanced installed it shows as L3
For some reason Mi 10T lite maintains L1 widevine with unlocked bootloader. I always use Magisk hide, so it might contribute to the fact that L1 still works. I've just checked it on my 12.0.1.0 RJSEUXM with DRM info app and Netflix, both reporting L1.
@_mysiak_ so its safe to root. Might have you installed viper4android with this version? is working properly?

Yes, I am using Viper on a daily basis. With recent Magisk versions it might need a fix - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/mod-viper4android-miui-12-magisk-21-1.4203489/

Question Widevine L1 on COS 13 A11

I found that in the COS A11 version, once the Bootloader is unlocked, the status of the Widevine L1 key will change to Fail, and then become Pass again after being locked, which will not happen in the A10 version(BBefore the A11 was released). Is there anyone like me?
update: I went back to A10 via fastboot, Widevine L1 is still fail, the only solution is to lock the Bootloader, OnePlus¥%…&…

Widevine L1 Certification

Hello, I'm thinking about rooting my firecube which is on fire OS 6 with blocked updates. There's a new root method and bootloader unlock and my ask is, will be on rooted & Bootloader unlocked Cube 2 Netflix work? Because I read that, devices with unlocked bootloaders loose Widevine L1 certification, which is important for services like Netflix is..
