I had this problem once, plugged cable in and unplugged it and the problem disappeared, it is usually some debris that can be removed with a cable

Like title says, my VS985 is looping in random ways and sometimes doesn't recognize that the battery is in the phone. Here is an overview:
- While off the charger, it is unresponsive, no buttons work.
- Recovery button combo does not work. I cannot get into recovery at all.
- While plugged in, it shows the battery screen, then reboots into a loop, has a long vibration
- Plug in + power button is a short vibration, I see the LG screen then it reboots to the above loop
- Plug into PC + up button shows the download mode screen then reboots to above loop
- At random times it will display the gray screen as if I plugged it in with no battery
Am I screwed? Wanted to sell this thing but I doubt it now. It was rooted running an older Euphoria build

Not going to buy a new one to attempt it since this isn't even my main device.. However, I left it plugged up in it's battery loop all night and this morning it had booted successfully and the battery was at 100%
I unplugged and powered it off, it's still unresponsive. No buttons work at all. I plugged it back into the charger and it starts the same loop again...........

Exactly the same behaviour with my d855. The last few months were just random reboots here and there, occasionally needing a battery pull. These days it was turning off randomly during use but never while plugged in...now it doesn't even boot while plugged in. Your description matches my experience perfectly.
I've seen quite a few reports of this behaviour, all happening recently...what is going on?

Not sure how to explain it, I don't think it's the battery since it will sometimes boot up correctly. I ordered a new power button flex cable off of ebay when I made this topic, when it gets here I'll post again with the results.
@3dawg the brand new power flex cable solved my problems, which was that the old power button became faulty and was rebooting the phone before it could start anything
after installing the new flex cable, I was able to charge the phone (it was completely dead from rebooting) and now I'm able to use it again

This is interesting because replacing the battery on mine also completely fixed my problem. Thanks for letting me know!
Hello! I've the LG Beat. It's somehow bricked by latest user. Lg won't turn on but battery is charged (i check it in another phone). When I plug it to charger screen shows battery icon with 0%... Screen off in a while. Sometimes screen turns on by click on a power button but sometimes it's doing nothing . When I plug it to PC it's sometimes showing a 63,9mb (H: ) drive. I tryed to install G3 firmware by two different LG Flash Tools. I've failed all the time. It can't even go into download mode. I've also tried removing battery and plug it again in different sequences. Any suggestions? I will be very grateful for help.
Hello,
I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition (P605 3G+Wifi) that began to stop charging when the screen goes off. Yes, it's weird but not uncommon. All the topics I found (like this - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2775833) are fixed by using the original Charger + Cable, which I already did. I even purchased from Samsung a new cable, just in case, with no luck. I also have opened the tablet and resettled all the connections (the vga flat cable and the battery connector). No luck either. :crying:
The only way I have to charge my Note is by installing an app that keeps the screen on while charge. Than it takes 10 hours to charge (with wifi, bluetooth, etc off, and brightness in the lowest) 100% but at least I can keep using my tablet.
EDIT: It also charges when turned off, but the charging speed is as slow as when on with the screen on. Only when on, I connect it to power, it starts charging, the screen goes off and, after a couple of seconds, screen comes on again and its not charging. Its like someone has pulled the charging cable.
I am tired of this and would like to have a definitive fix. If I buy a new battery, will it be fix? What is exactly the problem here? Reflash the ROM will it fix? Does any one knows?
Thanks for the help.
A full wipe and reinstall would likely fix your problem. I've been in this problem once, where the device charges under any condition, but it does so s l o w l y, no matter through what connection. Solved this by doing a NAND wipe through ODIN and re-installing all with that too.
What's your current ROM and bootloader? What kind of modifications have you done?
I'm running 5.1.1 stock rom with root only.
Will have to try that solution and reinstall all my stuff. Thanks.
Good news. Problem is solved.
So I wipe data... no luck, same problem. Download ROM and ODIN, entered in Download mode, connected the USB and... Nothing happened... only the tablet starting charging but the OS didn't detected anything. Tried other PC, same result. So the problem must be on the USB Port.
Checked this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZcwHd0wy0M
Opened the tablet and took off everything like shown there. Including USB Port, flat cable and battery. Reassembled eveything and... voila... problem solved.
Thanks.
Hey everyone,
So, I got a new Xperia XA1 Ultra (G3223) through a trade running stock Android 7.0. Checked everything and initially it looked fine.
Over the last few days, things have been acting weird. Every time I start the device, it gives me a blank (black) screen with a blinking white notification light - it doesn't even show me the boot screen at times when it boots. Just yesterday, I got it to boot by pressing VOLUME UP + POWER after being in that state - but, that's not normal. Does anyone know why in the world my phone does that?
Furthermore, when using the Sony charger that came with the device, it takes over 6 hours to charge and doesn't even show the charging sign while charging. Could this be an Android 7.0 bug or is something seriously wrong with my phone? Only one time since I got it, did I get it to charge normal with the charging sign and everything; it actually charged quite rapidly at that point.
Any help would be appreciated with this, guys, because I'm at a loss. I do want to mention that the device doesn't seem to be recognized by the computer, so I'm not even sure that the cable is original.

Try a new cable and/or charger. (I found I had a bad charger once)
Since you had computer issues, I'd start with the cable. Also check the charging port on the phone for debris/damage.

Okay, I'll do that - but, do you have any idea regarding the blank screen issue, my friend?

How is your phone turning on? Power button or inserting the USB cable?
Only thing I can think of is perhaps a stuck volume key placing the phone into recovery or flash mode.
Try turning on the phone with no USB cable attached. Before you turn it on, press the volume keys a few times to make sure they aren't stuck and then power on.

The thing is that it's weird.... For one, sometimes when I use the touch reset/turn off button, it takes at least two minutes to reset, or it doesn't even reset. Then, when I turn the phone on while it's off, the phone sometimes enters into this weird state with the flashing white notification light. I never power on the phone via USB cable, so I don't know, really. Yesterday, I shut the phone off to test it, plugged the phone in to charge it, it wouldn't charge while off, but then hit power on, and then it wouldn't turn on, so I used VOLUME UP + POWER, and then it turned on just fine.
Hi
Happened also to be with my older Xperia J.
Backup your phone (cause you'll lose your data), connect it to a PC (or Mac) and install Xperia companion, then select "repair phone" or something similar (I know the written in Italian version ).
Wait and it will be all fine.

Okay, let me see if I can get it to connect to the computer, and then I'll let you know if I have progress.
I have the same slow charging problem on my xperia xa1 ultra. you could solve it?
I understand that this tablet (Samsung SM-T800) is old but If someone out there can give me some input I'd greatly appreciate it.
So far I've replaced the:
USB Charger Port Connector Module Flex Cable
LCD Connector Flex Ribbon Cable
Battery
I let it drain completely and recharged it today after installing the new charging port. Powered it up and I'm still getting a bootloop. If I hold the power button down and keep it down it will go to the set up screen, Which I set up thinking it would boot normally afterwards but it still wont. I've tried numerous stock firmwares for this particular model all with no luck. What am I missing? Can someone shed some light on my issue or give me some ideas to try out. PLEASE...
Much Thanks in advance -

I'm trying to basically revive a friend's tablet. The problem is I've tried so many different things that I'm getting frustrated. Any recommendations on which firmware to use to get it back to the way it was out of the box or close to it. It is a U.S. model. Thanks for any help you can provide.

You need the cellular south XAR firmware for an unlocked model. If its a carrier branded model then you will need that specific firmware from the carrier.

Just to clarify, I just installed T800XXU1ANF8_T800XAR1ANF6_XAR via Odin - The device will cycle through the "Samsung Galaxy Tab S powered by android" screen then it will cycle through the colored Samsung logo and then start over. I'm dumfounded...
Thanks for replying, I've tried several of the XAR firmware's that are available, but the problem I'm running into is a constant bootloop afterwards on any that I try, even after resetting and clearing cache.

That is a very old kitkat firmware.
You will also need to factory reset from recovery.

I just flashed T800XXS1CRI5_T800XAR1CRI5_XAR - as I expected, it just boot-looped over and over again but for the hell of it I held the power button down for awhile and everything started to load like it should however when I let off of it, it went into the bootloop again. A few weeks ago I replaced the power/volume/headphone ribbon thinking that was the problem but now I'm truly perplexed. Any suggestions?

Did you find a solution meanwhile? Because I now have the same strange behavior - when starting the device on battery, it boot-loops, when on power it does something similar but does not boot at all but rather shortly shows the grey battery symbol (charging), then black, then battery ...
However, if pressing and holding the power button while on power, it tells me the battery percentage. When using Home+Pwr+VolUp (then I can leave Home and VolUp but *must* keep Pwr pressed) sometimes it boots into recovery but most of the time it boots normally and everything seems to be perfect. As soon as I leave the power button, it immediately goes off. The battery itself seems OK, charging speed appears reasonable and once it is running, too.
However, it's completely random, at times it also runs smoothly for hours.
As I had similar problems before with original Samsung firmware I flashed latest TWRP and LineageOS a 2-3w ago - does not improve anything. I opened the back cover but could not see anything suspicious.
Earlier I was even able to do an "adb logcat" while it was running until a crash - it just stops, no OS errors or anything of interest. Hence, cannot be a SW-problem, I'd think.
