I recently got my Note 5 Pro fixed... only to drop it again because of the stupid slippy slidey case. Looking at the guides it doesn't look that hard to fix it myself, and the crack isn't as bad this time so I can put up with wait time for shipping. How can I tell if I'm getting a display that's comparable to the original or some crappy one? Is there anywhere I can go to make sure I get the original? I Really want to try and get one with frame if possible.
i have this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32868998527.html working perfectly and easy to replace

When I first bought my universal I was terrified by the T-mobile-look, so I decided to buy me some tools to disassemble it and to change the colour. Has anyone experienece with this issue? I have the qtek-manual but I am not quiet sure if this plan really works. I want to revarnish my mda pro in more proper colours but I am afraid that the varnishment could disturb the connectivity.
Feel free to give me some comments or simply a url where I can buy a qtek-housing, I am not willing to keep this terrible t-mobile housing;-(
thx!
I would buy some more housing from ebay and modify that, and keep your original casing as a fall-back.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130070502699 is one example, you could take this and respray it and add a nice finish to it. There are others listed, including a jet black one (which I personally think is sexy) but it costs nearly double.
Hope this helps.
Depends on how good your paint job is. Example

Urr problem with buying a housing is the hinge doesn't come with it ... silver hinge black everything else ... ew!
I bought my Excalibur...erm Dash Used over the summer for $90. $10 more would have gotten me a brand new Black. but oh well
Anyways my phone looks to have been through hell and back.
A gouge in the touch pad & screen...
Over all the case is beat to hell. (the rubber is actually come off as has the chrome)
but its just an Example of the tough HTC Guts
But i want to make it look nice and replace the screen and case but its gonna be like 40-60 on EvilBay and then im scared imma break it like i did the first I-pod i took apart.
Though now ive repaird upwards of 10 I-pods(classic and Nano) with only 1 fatality.....i just dont want to screw it up...
So XDA, Is it worth making it look nice?
And does anyone know where i can find cheap (NEW) parts?

LoL...from Hell and Back...Lol...used by satan himself....lol...sorry but I can imagine your phone right now.
Ebay has good options, do a little bit of search in the forum...I remember Stylez (Mod form this Forum) recomended other sites....but Ebay is a good choice and you can find cheap things for your dash.
There are alot of companys http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&q=HTC+Dash+housing&meta=&aq=f&oq=&fp=408428c3d949fea1 especially in America but i'd check out Ebay as it's comparative and can be cheaper, i think the cheapest on Ebay when i was looking was about £29 so converted to aprx $65'ish
guide to take apart the excalibur
Luckily i found a few places that carry the full case for <30
Probably going with the T-bay one though

The other sites have bad reviews on quality and being counterfeit
Gotta wait till next week to get it...mom spent more then she expected on a New T-mobile Tap & Samsund Behold yesterday signing a new contract.
Hah and i dropped it for the second time monday....i jumped a privacy fence and it fell out of my pocket...now it REALLY looks like hell
It's a new record for me... I had my new Aria/Liberty/Intruder all set up and inside of three days dropped and T-boned the screen
Anyone have ideas on where to find parts for a Aria? I understand HTC is notoriously slow about releasing aftermarket parts. The repair guy I took my phone to encouraged me to help him find the part.
Many thanks-

I used to order all my blackberry parts from here. Very good reveiws. There across the seas but shipping is usually quick and even faster if you bump it up.http://cnn.cn/shop/htc-aria-c-277_1068.html
Thanks Kudvu002! You saved the day!
I found one on ebay, but the shipping's not as quick.
Have you tried taking it apart yet? I'm trying to get a little insight on the disassembly. It seems like you can pop off the top yellow cover but I wasn't able to get it off and didn't want to force it.
anyone knows where to buy the digitizer for the Aria? cnn.cn shows the digitizer in stock,, but when you go to checkout it says it is not....
Ordered mine about a week ago but it says it was shipped, now I just gotta get it apart!

digitizer replaced
So I followed the tutorial found on android forums, it was relatively easy, i forgot to take pictures of the steps but i can write a tutorial if anyone wants it, because the tutorial on A.F. is a little vague. But I have found a solution to the cracked screen problem, I went to Best Buy to see if they had the Zagg shield (which they do, it's for the Intruder/Aria/Liberty) but they also had a new case which looks a little more resilient against dropping. The case is made by Superior Communications (BB item number 35307BBR) and is pretty rugged looking, anyways let me know if you want a tutorial written up, i will try to get some pics to do it with.
so I'm about to replace mine.. any tutorial with pics available?
for those of you that have ordered and recieved their replacement digitizers, are they AT&T branded still?

Yes they are.. and they are not original part... there are some differences... and after the installation you will have the light that turns on the -home- menu-back-search buttons to filter into the screen. I finished up adding the insurance and getting a brand new for $50.00 and sold the old one for 200

I can have a tutorial up by tomorrow, unfortunately with pics of the full install but close enough to get you there. The screen I bought was an HTC oem screen and ATT branded, there aren't any that aren't branded so far. Lemme get the tutorial together and ill post it tomorrow.

I've seen this phone shown off a few times withut the AT&T branding and with just the HTC logo at the top/middle and would prefer that digitizer.
(and no I wasn't mistaking the HD Mini for the Aria lol) Wonder how long before those are available. Probably will have to wait until another carrier gets the phone IF anyone else decides to even pick it up.
The button light issue is quite a drag tho. Sucks. You could try to add some sort of tiny strip above the capacitive buttons area to shield the light from leaking into the viewable screen area.
here is a good video showing a Disassembly of the phone, it might help.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMI7sNY5YZg
doing this now...it is a HUGE pain in the ass
ok, to anyone who tries this BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU PULL THE RIBBON OUT
I pulled too hard and like an asshole I broke the "plug" piece off of the ribbon and it's stuck in the "socket"
looks like it's time to try and scam AT&T again
I just bought my pro 8.4 less than 2 weeks ago and some how I broke the lcd.. The screen looks perfect till its turn on.. Then u see cracks and the screen all messed up. Now what do I do? Can I get parts. Where and how much or is there a place that does it reasonably priced? I can't even find YouTube videos on replacing the lcd on the pro 8.4. Please any suggestions would be really appreciated.. I loved the tablet and want it saved!
This doesn't answer your question, but did you by any chance purchase with a credit card? I've noticed many have accident/theft coverage for up to 120 days after purchase. If not, you can call Samsung to find out options. Google took me here http://www.etradesupply.com/samsung/tablet/samsung-galaxy-tab-pro-8-4-sm-t320-replacement-parts.html then http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2710711 post 8 says it's same teardown as for galaxy 4 10.1 2014.

Snap the backcover off and go to town. It'll be a blast. These days everything you need to take off to get to the screen is just plugs that snap right off their port.

That's what I found too. The digitizer isn't broke, the actual LCD is. I'll have to call Samsung to see my options. I think i'm ass-out for a while cuz i really wouldn't think the lcd is available yet and if it is its gonna be almost as much as the tablet! Sux! At least i have my Galaxy Note 10.1 2012 .. gt-n8013 with now kk with air command on it. The screen on the 8.4 pro was a billion times sharper and it was way faster and i love the leather back! Thans for your help.. Anything else comes up that can help just please let me know.
Thanks again guys!

Now on your ebay link it looks like the lcd and screen digitizer are sold together .. I did know that they sold em together. If that's the case, that's a much easier fix cuz removing the screen/digitizer from the lcd assembly looks like a pain in the assz! Thanks for your help! If anything else that comes up that will help me out, let me know
Thanks again guys!
Oh, off topic question, how many posts do i have to make to be able to post in development sections of the forums, i usually have alot to offer in the development sections but don't have the privileges to post there. What do i have to do to make it possible for me to help in these sections, i have alot to offer!
I'm pretty sure they are glued together on the assembly in your tablet too. In order to separate them you'd need a heat gun and a lot of patience. But it's doable. You'd be able to clean the adhesive off the screen gently afterwards. But yes, to save room the manufacturers these days glue the two parts together, hence why they are also sold as glued together. But I've seen people separate them with a heat gun before. And yes, it is a mess, no matter what. Buying the full assembly would be much more fun and also faster.
Hi everybody,
I broke the screen of my Pixel 2XL.
In truth only the digitizer is broken but replacing only the digitizer seems impossible without proper tools.
I was searching for a screen replacement but they are really expensive!
Any suggestion on where to get it? I've read that there are compatible ones...
Do they worth the expense?
Where can I find theme?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
I got my replacement from Fixez.
They weren't the cheapest option at $162 U.S., but it was an OEM display.

Wow! Anyway to just make the phone look like there is no damage and get a warranty exchange for it?
I have a cheaper alternative for broken screen. One day my phone flew out of my pocket at 100km/h on motorcycle, cause I like to save some bucks I found an original 2xl screen on aliexpress, there are some defected screens as they say, like couple pixels doesn't work or it has some imperfections. I took one for 70€ shipped, with 2 not working pixels that you almost can't see. They include tools to change it, but u need a seal. So if you don't mind imperfections it's really good way to save some money! I hope it helps someone.
