hello i'm mi 5s 4gb/128gb user
yesterday, i was using cyanogenmod 13 but i want to use miui again
so i restored nendroid backup from twrp recovery
that was start of diaster..
after this. fingerprint scanner mostly doesn't work
sometimes fingerprint scanner work correctly after reboot, it doesn't work.. and sometimes... it works...
i did many many method (global rom, china rom via edl mode, fastboot mode) but everything has same result,
so i looked at my logcat
it says
QFP : QfpThreadMatch::execute: match result -3: QFP_INSUFFICIENT_COVERAGE
with my finger or not logcat said same result
why my fingerprint scanner doesn't work?
is it hardware issue?
sorry for poor english

Maybe placebo effect but people are saying Global rom had improved fingertip detection rate.
If i were you, i would flash as stock as possible, recovery, bootloader, lock status, everything, just to determine software versus hardware failure.
Hope for the best, as this kind of life cycle premature failure freak me out, first stucked autofocus sensor now this!!!

I had a problem which seemed to be hardware related after flashing the Chinese developer ROM and then later restoring a Miui EU ROM from a backup. My problem was with audio - there was no sound coming from the speaker or headphone output. I did diagnostic tests which failed - indicating a hardware problem.
It was only after re flashing the EU Miui ROM that the problem was resolved.

i solved it
i think this was problem of driver
so i needed rollback of driver
first. i flashed 6.10.13 eu rom over 6.12.29
it occurs bootloop
second. i flashed 6.12.29 over 6.10.13 again. and fingerprint works like charm again!
Exists the cyanogenmod for Mi5s?
Still very buggy. We have to wait for xiaomi to release the source code to get nice CM .
The fingerprint happened to me too, it just stopped working.
Flash the stable global using fastboot, it will erase everything, and will be great again.
Don't restore with Titanium backup, I had all kind of weird problems everytime I tried.
One of the worst fp sensors ever. I tried all the tricks mentioned in several places, detection rate stays very low.

Yes, although the USB C cable in the box (and a few others I tried) didn't work - I ended up using the cable that came with my Nexus 6p.
I have an issue with waze not updating gps, but google maps works fine and everything else works.

Global ROM, MIUI 9.1.2 or whatever the latest build is.
It wouldn't load for me either (or would flash briefly on the screen then go black) until I used a cable that worked.
I'm on china ROM, i guess i need to install the global ROM.
But when i try to get it unlocked it seems the unlock tool skipped the apply for permission step, I'm not able to flash it.

Used it with weekly DEV MIUI 7.11.2/9/16/23 from xiaomi.eu without issues on Skoda Kodiaq on USB-Port with 3rd Party Micro-USB cable and USB-C adapter.
Thanks, I will try to flash it to a different ROM and try it out.
On global ROM it took a VERY long time to connect and load up, I just left it plugged in for about 5/6 minutes before it came up in my VW.
It's a lot better on Xenon HD ROM I'm using now, no delay at all.
Flashed to the global ROM.
It connected to my chevy works, the only thing is that waze is not updating(google maps worked)

Does it work with the global rom? I have installed the stable chinese rom V9.1.4.0.NCHCNEI (MIUI9) in my note 3 but when connecting to the android car it freezes and remains in black screen. I do not know if it's because of the ROM or because of the type-C cable, I'm using the original cable that came with the phone.

It does, it's 100% not your cable, it's the ROM.
Global ROM is not 100% issue free, there are other issues with google voice control and not able to use my voice to sent message etc. but at least android auto works with google map for me.
Im thinking to try EU ROM later but for now gonna stay with global, don't feel like installing all the apps and stuff, too much work. lol

excellent to hear this, I will try to install the global rom and see what results I have. What global rom have you installed? I see that the last one that appears is the 9.1.4 :good:
Hi guys,
I have the mi Max 3 unlocked, with TWRP and rooted.
I have been running it with RevOS and now with GSI Havoc...
But there seems to be a real problem with the GPS ! It's super slow...
A fix takes about 30 seconds sometimes even more (in the same location, the Honor Note 10 fixes in 3/4 seconds).
And while I traval => "GPS connection lost" happens quite often and it also happens that I get "Searching for network".
Is there a "radio.img" or something like that that I may have to flash to improve things ?
Do you guys have the same when using GPS (like Waze) ?
Or is my device defective ? Should I try to reflash the global ROM for this ?
Thanks for your answers.
I use Xiaomi.EU Rom 8.11.15 (last Oreo updated), used Waze first time this morning and locked in incredibly fast.
Maybe down to the OS you are on?

Hi,
Thanks for your answer.
Maybe the OS. But now I am using Havoc OS Pie and I have the same problem Super slow fix : like 30 seconds and up to 1 or 2 minutes.
Will try to reinstall original MIUI stock but I fear to get a device with ARB protection (which I would like to avoid).
Regards.

What version are you on?
If you are MIUI 10, don't go below MIUI 10.
If you are on MIUI 9, like I was out of the box, 9.6.12, you cannot go down. anything above 9.6.8 has ARB really.
I got soft locked and I had to use MiFlash to restore Global ROM.
...or you just clean up the miui from all the ARB related sh*t before flashing it...
Hi guys,
Thanks for your answers...
Definitely ROM related.
I restored stock MIUI 9.8.6.0 (last official with no ARB) and Xiaomi.eu 8/8/9 (latest non official with no ARB) and with those, I got a GPS fix within seconds...
And that quick fix is reproductible...
So : there goes RevOS, which is a pity : it was superb and with lot of added customizations abilities...
Regards.

Hi,
Thanks for the link.
But I must say that I am a little anxious about that
First : it is unclear if I have to LEAVE the listed files in the FW-update folder or if I have to take ERASE those ;
Second : is it confirmed that if I do that, I won't have ARB on my device ? Because it seems that the author is just "speculating" about this and asks for confirmation...
So if you could provide a little more details, I'd be a taker
Regards.
Those are the files you should flash. All others not listed you delete along with the lines in updater-script/flash-all.bat. Haven't tested it myself b/c I don't care about MIUI and I only flash boot, system and vendor to test my stuff I work on. But later on I will have to test it b/c I will need vendor and firmware for my next project. So although not tested these files should be ARB safe, the rest of them removed are bootloader related where ARB resides. But with anything Xiaomi I can't be 100% sure until test it personally. What I can asure you is no ARB if you flash boot, system and vendor only...
BETA Version
Ready to try?
I start....
https://developer.android.com/preview/gsi-release-notes
Is very difficult to make it stable....
Wifi connection and screen lock password issue,
second reboot impossible....
But nice to see this evolution.
Stay tuned, work on it....
Booted googles Android Q gsi. Everything works fine, mobile data, calls, Bluetooth etc. Only secured WiFi is messed up can't connect. Reboot bootloop issue is fixed by deleting vendor/app/
Steps I did was,
-have a fresh install of miui 10.3 (from xiaomi.eu) on to system
-flash Q gsi to system partition on twrp
-after gsi flash, reboot twrp then mount vendor and through twrps file manager locate vendor/app and delete it.
-reboot
And done bootloop after restart issue should be home.
Things I found are sounds are very static and distorted I got it fixed my flashing viper4android and you'll need root for that. Use magisk 19. Also I'm using global version. I'm sure chinese version will be fine but again I'm not sure

Yeah I forgot about that but as this device is not specifically supported for a beta, it might have issues like previous GSI betas.

The official support would be nice. I understand the mi9, but i don't see the point i mix 3 5g. the user base is too low. It went on sale only week ago. 5g is still few years ahead from global adoption. Mix 3 4g would be better choice for beta testing.

Anyone tried the latest beta?
But...by the end of the year Android Q will be officially avaible as OTA update for mi mix 3 and other Xiaomi phones as confirmed by them. So why messing things up with unifficial GSI "just to try" a new release? I'm not blaming anyone who wants to, but it is really necessary? It's so terrible to stay on MIUI rather than stock or so bad to stay on Pie (both stock or custom) rather than on a newer OS version?
Personally i prefer a stable software (or an almost bug free one at least) than an unstable one with possibly many non working/partially working features. What do you think?
P.s before the bull**** storm by someone:
1) Yes, i used custom roms before on other devices, i liked them and they always made my devices better in terms of performances and upgraded them to the latest OS avabile when the official support ended. (Galaxy SII Plus, Galaxy Tab S2, Honor 8)
2) You can do whatever you want with your device, i really couldn't care less, but wer're on a forum, i'm just taking a conversation to hear other opinions about GSI (or other custom roms) for this devices wich i found to be very fast, complete and battery friendly even without them.
3) Thank you
I couldn't care less
Hello,
I would like to ask a question about a subject that I have been dealing with for weeks.
I have been using Eu beta rom on all my Xiaomi devices for many years. And now i'm using Poco F3 with EU Beta (lastest)..
About 1 month ago, I bought myself a car with Android Auto support. Eu rom is working fine except 1 issue on car screen. There are several programs on the multimedia device that can be used to play the screen of the mobile phone and/or the files on the connected mobile phone. The most famous and beautiful employee (youtube and web browser supports) is a program called FERMATA Auto . When installing this FERMATA Auto on the phone, it is necessary to install a tool with the installer program so that it does not get stuck in google blocks. However, although I have done all these correctly, FERMATA Auto does not appear on the vehicle screen while it is working properly on the phone. Other programs that do similar tasks don't work either. Although I tried dozens of times, I couldn't run it, and when I installed and tried this FERMATA on another xiaomi device, it worked on my first try. So I tried switching from eu beta to eu stable to see if the problem is with my device or the rom, but it still didn't work. When I installed Pixel expirence and tried it on the same day, it worked again on my first try. I think there is something in the rom that is preventing this. Especially because of call recording and continuous support, I don't plan to switch to another rom other than EU rom.
Anyone have any ideas on this?
FARMATA, FATMATA, FERMATA… which one is it?
Yes, same issue with stock miui and Android auto
