Hey there, I have the 3a (not XL), but since they're the same (just screen size is different) after unlocking the bootloader and root, you need to edit the build.prop file.
There's a few guides out there in for the Pixel 3 that worked for me.

The links are for rooting the phone, i've alredy done it, but how can I open the bootloader to install new roms like CM?

So bar the T-Mobile variant of the G3. We don't have an unlocked bootloader on any other models. Now i know we have bump which works but its not what i mean.

I used the services of the-cell-squad
Costed me something between £8-£10 at that time..
Skip typing - hit

If you have any trouble with your unlock code go to cellunlocker.net
They had me my code in two hrs and it worked first try.
No BS, no runnarround.

I would like to root it with magisk boot img patch method but in order to do that I have to unlock the bootloader but I can't do that because the phone does not have an unlock status in developer mode which is needed to unlock the bootloader.
If there's someone here who has managed to root the phone or even just unlocked the bootloader, I would appreciate it if you could guide us to how its done.

Will there ever be custom Rom Support for this phone because it seems almost like a waste to have a top notch chipset and only get 2,3 or 4 years of software support i mean check the specs its really decent to carry with you for years to come.

Btw for internet put all WiFi networks metered. If you want unmetered internet, install net guard and block device setup and carrier setup.

I posted the latest way to unlock the SIM. May not work on other carriers however it worked on my Verizon Pixel 6a.
