I currently have the Pixel Xl and its a nice phone but the 3T comes in at half the price and I don't mind a 1080p screen. Those using the regular oneplus 3 what are your thoughts?
well yeah. depend on your needs tho, not gonna talk about specs. average user wise, op3 is better due to support and general customization. in my country, google phone are non-existence, you can't get it fixed at shop, can't find any temper glass and ect on local webstore. generally, if you can go back to having mono speaker and somewhat buggy and unsatisfying software, go for op3. if you want the ultimate software from google, stereo speaker, less third party support, then pick pixel.
with the op3t included in the comparison however, op3t is ultimately better since it comes with nougat. as for pricing, up to your country.
disclaimer: i own op3, but played with abroad friend's pixel.
Pixel XL is definitely better as long as price is not taken into account. When it is OP3T for the win. It doesn't come with Nougat by the way, as far as I read.
The most noticeable thing I'd that the Pixel XL camera is going to be better (mainly because of SW, not HW)
You'll also see faster OS updates with the pixel but the OnePlus 3 will have more customization
Standby battery drain should be similar and screen on time should be a bit better on the OnePlus 3T since it has a 1080p screen instead of a QHD screen
OnePlus 3 is probably the device where you get the most quality for the lower price. I have mine for almost three weeks and I am quite happy with how it performs.
Also another thing that is great about OnePlus 3 is their community, it is somewhat friendly and the higher ranked members are quite helpful. Additionally they also have a big modding community on their own which is how I got to know XDA as somethings shared there come from here.
Regarding Google Pixel XL, I never had one of those in my hands (or any smartphone produced by Google) so I abstain of forming opinions about it.
The OP3 is a better device.
So what exactly is better? I went to bestbuy to check the Pixel and the build quality is a lot better than the Pixel. Custom software is added benefit as well. There is so much that you can do with the OP3 fingerprint sensor. I could not live without one! The FP placement on the Pixel isn't convenient at all. I don't see the Nougat as a benefit since the Marshmallow is good enough for me.
The Pixel has a better camera and Nougat. That's it. That's what you pay for. Determine if its worth it or not.
The OP3 is definitely better device. I love my phone!
If you want faster OS updates, a miles better camera than OP3, and pure stock android experience with dedicated google's under the hood tweaks, i would suggest to go with Pixel XL. If price is a deciding factor, go for OP 3T as it can give you theoratically same experience and fluidity + good camera and average times software updates.
Why would you even want to consider this if you already have pixel xl?
Hey guys
I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I'm so torn between the mate 9 and pixel xl. I know they're both great phones. The pixel with a great pure android experience, the mate 9 very functional (ir blaster etc) premium hardware. Can someone with experience with both phones chime in and share their experience?
This doesn't help but I'm in the same boat as you. The lens flare issue on the Pixel is really bothersome to me. I can reproduce it so easily. I was eyeing the Mate 9 as a replacement because my return period is up for the Pixel on 1/22. But I do love the Pixel in every other way except the lens flare problem. I worry I won't like EMUI on the Mate or having to wait for updates (it's on 7.0 with a 7.1.1 release pegged for end of January which isn't bad...but what about Android 7.2 or 8 etc?).
This is going to come down to how much you like the software.
Ok so let me share my experience.. After the note7 (rest his soul), i tried many devices, starting with op3 then lgv20 then mate9 and now am on pixel xl.. Honestly am very very satisfied. as a phone, its great, loving the stable raw android, camera is by far the best (as per my personal experience, regardless of what tech numbers says).. What do i miss, well, definitely if note7 is still alive, i would have never changed it, however, i miss the battery and th3 big screen in mate9, i miss the second screen in lgv20, i miss the customization in op3, but few days after using my pixel xl, daaaahhhh who cares, things here covers for other things there.. What i hated in the other devices, the most is notifications in mate9, its like a phone that is made to never push a notification, the stupid camera in lgv20, which broke (the camera glass) in 2 weeks while covered with huge cases.. And somehow the small battery in op3..
In summary, i didn't regret it at allllllllll.. Pixel xl is the best flagship in market now..
I have both phones and would take the Pixel XL over the M9 all day just for the camera alone. The M9 is a nice phone but it is big and heavy compared to my Pixel XL and S7 edge and 7+.

I currently have Google Pixel XL. Is this phone worth getting over my current phone? I see its a more active community.
It really depends on your wants & needs.
If you need a brighter display, then after modification, the OP5T is noticeably brighter and easier to read under direct sunlight.
If you want a lighter phone, then the OP5T is noticeably lighter.
If you want a faster phone, then in my experience, there is not a noticeable difference. But then I'm not doing any gaming. Just texting and Internet surfing.
If you need a faster file system, then the OP5T is just slightly faster.
I had the Pixel 2 XL for about 3 days and I clearly prefer the OnePlus 5T. Better display, better performance, better loudspeaker, looks better. And the camera of the Pixel 2 XL was not as good as the camera me the Galaxy S8. OnePlus 5T camera is only a bit under them.
Sorry for my bad English. I am from Germany.
I had the galaxy S8 for about 6 month and was happy with it. But then I had the OnePlus 5T for about 2 days to test it. S8 is so slow compared to the 5T... unbelievable. Give it a try and you will see that overall the OnePlus 5T is the better device.
I had the Necus 6 before the 5 T and initially planned to get the Pixel XL 2.
But not even the best camera of all smartphones is worth shelling out 4 digits of dosh...no chance.
And in every other respect the 5T is on par with the Pxl 2
I got this pixel XL off a RMA for the old 6P and I'm just not digging these partitions. And lack of devs I think there are only like 4-5 decent ROMs to choose from. Thanks for the input everyone. Much appreciated
Pixel phones are generally not worth it since google is focusing on gimmicky software instead of hardware and developers as of late. They are expensive phones that try to justify the price with software, rather pay for hardware tbh.
The 64GB Pixel 2 XL is £629 at carphone warehouse right now. The price is coming down.

Ohay, got it.
As was already said, depends what's important to you. I have both the 1st and 2nd gen pixel XL's as well as the op5t. In my opinion, the pixel phones only clearly win in 2 places over the 5t. The monthly security patches and the cameras. The cameras on both pixels are flat amazing, and while the camera on the 5t is nice, it's not quite as good. But I find myself using the 5t the most. The face unlock is amazing, the battery life on the Oreo beta is insane, the phone is insanely slim and fast and I prefer what OnePlus has done with oxygen OS as far as customizations go, over what Google has done. Not to mention, twrp, magisk and Franco kernel just make the op5t rock
Oh, and I also use both an At&t Sim and a TMO Sim in the 5t which I can't do in the pixels.

Ya I'm missing the Franco kernel definitely.

I have both, you nailed it. If I am going on a trip and going to take a lot of pictures I bring the pixel 2 xl, otherwise I stick with the o5t as my daily driver. The experience is better imo on the o5t.
The charging is way faster on the o5t. The pixel 2 xl has a slow fingerprint sensor and the reaction time of the proximity sensor is slow too. When I am on the call with a pixel and go hang up it takes to long for the screen to light up. No issues on the o5t it's instant. The updates on OnePlus aren't bad either.
Dear sirs....!
I'm here to ask if you would recommend me this device, and if you can, I would like to have some questions answered
First: does it feel old in your hand? How is it? Good?
Is it fast enough for everything? Any issue?
I'm coming from an htc 10, I want to switch to an oled display, how is it? Is ambient display good/worth?
Do Google camera mods give better camera performance than stock? Like pixel 2 software ports or s#!t
Would you give it a go or get a u11 / mi mix 2 / pixel 2
I'm interested mainly in camera, display and no lag experience
Thank you very much for your attention sirs
yes
if you have the cash, I'd pick the Pixel 2 Xl over the Pixel XL.
Nope, feature support for devices ends this year as it only has 24 months feature updates. Go for the Pixel 2 or 2 XL.
Based on what you are looking for...
Camera is excellent, though the pixel 2 apparently is even better.
Screen is excellent, big bezels but better than the LG panel on the pixel 2xl. Reportedly. I don't own the p2xl.
Speed is fine.

I thought Pixel 2 has an LG display, but the 2XL has a Samsung display.
Do I have that backwards?
ETA, Pixel 2 made by HTC. Pixel 2 XL made by LG.
Apologies
Yup.

I tell you, I am not impressed with the display.
I'm not much of a photog, so Canberra does not really matter to me.
I recently bought a used Pixel XL, to root and rom, because my daily driver (Moto Z2 Play) does not have much development.
My recent phones, in reverse order were Nexus 6P and Moto X Pure Edition.
All of those poses better displays than this XL. It is not very bright or vibrant. There is no setting to change.
I sure hope the 2 XL has a better screen, because I think that's my next.
I just picked up an XL and I would say it depends on what you get it for and how long do you want to keep it? My moto phone (big mistake, I'll never again buy a Moto) died on me after less then a year and I just need something to keep me going until the Pixel 3 comes out (I unusually wait a few months after release to see how the reviews pan out). So for me it doesn't have to be perfect. I like the screen.
I will mention that this is fairly subjective. I had the Moto 2 Play for a bit and ended up returning it. The display was fuzzier and not as sharp (what you would expect from a 5.5" 1080p display), side by side the Pixel XL (IMHO) has the much better screen.
I come from OnePlus 5 to Pixel XL and no regrets. I received mine yesterday. So far so good!
I have a 6p 32gb for now, thought about upgrading and I don't want to wait for the Pixel 3, so I have 2 options and I want your opinions.
In terms of storage, I don't really need 128gb, 64 is just enough, though the Pixel offer is only for 128
Pixel has better camera, faster updates, water resistant, and dual speakers. Oneplus is cheaper, has a bigger screen with notch ?, newer processor, and better battery life, also 3.5mm jack. So it depends on what you want out of your phone.
Pixel 2 XL. It's going to be updated for 3 years.
For me, the continued updates are very important.
If OP6 supported Verizon, I would move back to them in a second. The devs and support are as good as anybody, and they support bootloader unlocking. They've had some issues with customer support at times, like the cc fraud problem, otherwise, they are posed to continue good success. Camera isn't that big of a deal to me personally if the Pixel is slightly better. The case, near edge less top bottoms and sides make it more comfortable and better looking as well. Loved my 5t.
Would recommend pixel 2 XL.
I was in same dilemma too few weeks back. After looking at colleagues op6 and pixel 2 xl, went with pixel 2 xl. A very hard choice for me as choosing a single sim pixel 2 xl vs dual sim op6 (always favored dual sim before).
For me, I liked the pixel 2 xl display, sound and camera much better than op6. I also got info from colleagues that battery life us better in pixel 2 xl than op6.
I am happy with pixel 2 xl now.

I'm using both and think the Pixel 2 XL is a better daily user. Everyone's opinion is different - depends on hand feel, usability, screen, speed, etc.
The Pixel does it ALL....
Thank you guys

Partly agree with your thought process.
Another thought process is high cost mobile may always outperform low cost mobiles overall. So pixel 2 xl will come out better overall anyway than OP 6 right.
Check out the review of OP 6 whose UI fluidity is worse than pixel 2 xl surprisingly even for me (expected better UI fluidity in OP 6 due to less resolution screen and better processor than pixel 2 XL). Other areas of speed tests do resulted in good in op6 though.

You liked the display no offence the pixel has a inferior display.
Camera smashes the op6 out of the park

<sarcasm>Oh my, chime in on the horrid blue shift and terrible colors of the Pixel 2 XL.</sarcasm>
Better yet, don't. Both issues are totally overrated. If you really think the FHD display of the OP6 with notch is superior to the QHD screen of the P2XL without notch then whatever drugs you are on must be really good.

Hmmm, not sure about inferior or superior spec. But I like the display of pixel 2 xl more than op6 one (not sure it is due to resolution may be, people say 1080p is sufficient but my eyes are demanding more) My s9+ display on other hand feels good than pixel 2 xl though.
I think that Pixel's display is superior to OP6's, Google did a lot lately to improve the colors and reduce the blue tint. I had S8+ and when comparing those two, the amount of blue tint was the same on both. It was visible on Pixel a couple of degrees earlier, but that was pretty much it.
Maybe I am just lucky with my Panda 128GB...
Get the pixel 2 xl coz when the 3 comes out you can trade in the 2 for up to 500$ you'd only be losing a 100$ or so. That's what did i picked a 128 panda used pixel 2 xl in mint conditions off swappa for 570$.
I own both. I'm selling the op6. I told myself I'd never try another option device but bought one anyway. Every opportunity device I've owned has had some odd hardware issue and none of them were the same. Also the UI had some odd behaviour even though it looks stock.

I am not sure why everobody (I mean all the reviewers) calls OnePlus software stock..I feel it's far from stock...their settings page design is still struck at Android 7 days...
