Who's Thinking Of Getting This Phone?

Hiya folks. I've had Xperia phones since 2010 and I'm thinking of replacing my broken Z3c with an XA1. However I really don't want to be tied into a 2 year contract for a handset that's unsupported.
So I was just wondering..I know it's early days..but is anybody else thinking of getting one of these?

I got it already. this is a good phone and i use it for 1 month until now. that is really cool phone bro. :laugh:

I'm really curious with this phone. Instead of mediatek processor, do you ever experience any lag/error during multitasking? And I wonder how long this 2.300 ma power battery can stand for a day. Maybe you can share your screen on time with list of applications installed.

Hello, could you confirm one exciting feature of android 7 (atleast for me) that it works on this phone software.
As of Android 7.0 phone can read 2G/3G/LTE frequency without ROOT. Easiest way is to install app Cellmapper(mapping cell towers to map) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cellmapper.net.cellmapper
Could anyone run this app(enable "Use new Android 4.2 Cell ID API" in settings) and post screenshot while connected to LTE only or 3G when 4G not available(no wifi)? Also, maybe send debug report from settings menu to developer([email protected]) with screenshot.

Yes, everything work OK 2G/3G/4G. i also install the app and use it ok for 3G/4G . no see any bug . but i do not know how to use all function of it becuase i do not know what to use it for. just install and take alook ^^:laugh:

Well, I've got this phone now. Got it this afternoon. Initial impressions are good. Yes it's not a powerhouse but, for a mid range device, it's really not bad.
Hopefully I can get it rooted soon then I can mod the hell out of it.

I've had it less than a day so I can't really comment. But I haven't noticed any significant battery issues so far. I've come from the Z3 Compact and this seems to do everything I need it to do at the moment. The sound is good, picture quality is decent (yes, it's not full HD or whatever but it's a phone..if I really need amazing picture quality on my videos I'll use my TV) and the battery seems okay.
Like everything, it depends what you're using it for. If you spend your whole day playing Pokémon Go at full brightness while listening to music, your battery is going to be annihilated..

Mate 20X setup and review Video in UK

Uber happy with phone ! read mixed reviews comments on if it would work in the UK and it all does so far .. a few steps to get 4G and google but very straightforward and I love the Phone ... Big screen is amazing , low light and wide angle are awesome , one handed fine for Camera but emails etc you need 2 . would highly recommend this phone
I am not a vlogger so excuse quality of video , but i searched high and lo for videos of this in the UK or even outside of Asia and found nothing so just hope this helps a few people ...

Tried tried it for you says accepted but you need to contact your bank to activate these features .
But not something i use ... more a cash kinda guy

Google Pay works on chinese version, if it fails contact your bank and request them reset account

Thanks, works on my iPhone, works on my Apple Watch, works on my Wear OS watch - doesn't work on my Chinese phone !!

Hi yes HDR you tube works fine obviously 1080 limited but screen looks great , also works in Amazon Prime and i Player , i do not have netflix

hi yes this works fine on china version in UK i am on EE Network .

Far from it I'm loving it more and more i don't have any negatives, everything works fine and it's fast screens amazing so is battery life ,,, I'm trying to think while writing this of something i don't like ?i can't bloody think of anything ? it doesn't feel big in the hand either to say it's 7.2 inch ,,, well happy no issues at all

Hi, Thanks for the details on the phone usability... Did you try to install another launcher (nova launcher for exemple) and are you able to use "ok google" to start a search or anything...? I read somewhere that it wasn't possible on chinese phones...Is there chinese apps that you can't delete and are annoying ? ... thank you for your answers!

The device has the potential but Samsung security and exynos processor are making it hard to be on full loose. But, as is evident from the history of other Samsung devices with exynos like j7 prime and many others, and also pretty good specs, we can expect a good number of developers to grab this one.

Still, all of this depends on how many people will go with redmi note 7 pro. I hope people realize that this time (and probably for the first time), Samsung is providing a better option than xiaomi at a little higher price.

Yes Brother.. hope they will push new update for A50.

I would like to start development on Galaxy A50. Currently waiting for open source kernel, I recently requested Samsung to release source code lets see. Need some testers maybe who can take risk of unlocking bootloader and installing custom ROMs, recoveries, kernels.

I am happy with camera, gaming particularly pubg(made for pubg) and display.
But fingerprint sensor needs lot of work.
They already gave one update for fp.

How is the public response in Europe?

Moved from ASUS Max Pro M2 to this beauty yesterday. Amazing device and I'm loving it.

I'm getting mine on Monday, really excited to get this one! just a question, does anyone know if in Europe (I live in Portugal) it comes with a rubber cover for the a50 inside the box?

4k firestick recent versions still rootable?

hello guys n girls . how you all doing? all okay i hope? i managed to fook my 2nd gen firestick by messing up the clk resistor, im wondering if the new 4k sticks sold online just now are still rootable? if not are there any other devices available to personalize/customize?
i have ordered and am waiting another 2nd gen as theyre going quite cheap just now but would like to mod the 4k also

I was reading through posts and clocked a debloated rom for the mantis ?
It seems a bit hit and miss from what I read with regard to being flashable as a zip file in twrp. I thought there was a complete debloated rom.zip that could be flashed instead of the stock rom already on the mantis or have I misread (I'm known for it my eyesights fooked these days lol?)

There is at least one debloated ROM available. https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/development/1-0-debloated-rom-fire-tv-stick-4k-t4084947
I don't have any experience with it. I just installed Magisk, and ran this debloat script. https://github.com/esc0rtd3w/firestick-loader/blob/master/scripts/debloat/bloat-disable.sh
I don't believe the lineage 12.1 for tank will work on the 4k. There is a project to port lineage to the 4k, but it is not ready for release.

Okay m8 thank you for replying, appreciated. Just trying to familiarise myself with the process before jumping in lol I goosed the last 2nd gen so will follow the foil short method this time instead of being so rough with board. Thanks again

Sidenote, the points are wrong at the picture in the 4k unlock OP, you have to short just the other 'unmarked' side of the mentioned parts or as an alternative, just bridge (short) both sides of such a marked part with tinfoil or a fine soft flexible copper wire (as one side is already gnd)

Btw, the non-Max 4k stick for 25 bucks is the best offer.

Yes, this is a realy good price, but the 4K more than 3 years old! But the 4K Max is a new devices. With longer support, with more options, with new OS, and the best : with Dolby Atmos on Netflix too!

4k max ... also has wifi 6 + av 1 decoding ...

At the weekend I will open my 4k max and remove the emmc to dump it. if someone is interested in the dump, he can get in touch.

You need to remove the frame of the shield too, since the frame covers one corner of the chip.
I'd like to see some high res pictures from the stick with the eMMC removed, please
