The firmware (rom) installed is not a determinant of what your phone really is. I suspect this is a frankenphone. If you bought it this way, I would try and get your money back asap.
The only way to be absolutely sure as to what the phone really is and what firmware should have been installed on it, is to open it up and see what is stamped on the motherboard. Unfortunately with the firmware installed now, you have most likely, with an ARB of 4, negated any chance of unlocking your device unofficially if it is still bootloader locked or doing much else with it for that matter.

Most likely will be SIM locked again. You could always download the ZV8 TOT and put Nougat on it with a PC.

You have to contact LGs customer service, Explain That you had the motherboard replaced.but your device has the same iemi as the old mother board.
That you would like to unlock your devices bootloader as it is one of the unlockable models.
When you boot to fast boot and get the OEM ID. The OEM ID that LG has on file for your iemi is incorrect due to motherboard swap.
Then You need to ask them to please update there unlockable devices list with your new OEM ID from new motherboards fastboot with old iemi.
hmm, I understand.
Let's try it.

I just want to update my G710ULM to pie... Why is this so difficult? I successfully backed up my data, connected via the Air Drive thing, but it won't let me update?

Having the same problem here. Wrote an Email to the LG Support with my IMEI. Turned out that i got a Demodevice that canĀ“t be updated.
Your phone has a cross Firmware. For sure a Sprint version (G710PM) with a 710ULM firmware flashed. LG bridge DO NOT GOING TO check your phone.
If you want to update to latest pie firmware you can do what I (and others) did, to flash manually the firmware by youself. I did it twice, my wife's phone and my own phone. 5 minute and you gonna have Pie 9.0 with 1 Oct. 2019 security patch.
Link with instructions <<Here>>
Good luck!
Have same issue, there is no cross firmware that I am aware of blocking me here...
its 2021. I bought 2 unlocked lg 8 thinq from amazon for me and my wife from a different seller. hers was one that came with alexa. Hers is through verizon/total wireless, mine is from att or tmobile with metropcs service. Hers updates perfectly and gets all the updates while my phone is stuck on the very first system update without a way to update. I'm on G820UM10i I tried lg bridge. It finds my phone but gives me a error and wont check phone for update. Will this work for my phone and how could i do this if i have a newer version needing android 10?
Hi:
I flashed a Samsung phone a few years ago so I am a little familiar on how to do this. I have had my LG G5 LS992 Sprint (DEMO) phone for about 2.5 year and just recently it started getting hot (sometimes) for some unknown reason... it is not the battery. I performed a factory reset and no change. So before I trash the phone for a hardware failure I thought it best to flash the OS and see if that fixes it.
I have tried every LG Flash utility I can find and they all fail. The LG Mobile Support Tool (LGMST) gives this error message:

}
Is this truly why I cannot flash the phone using any flash tool? I`m not looking for an upgrade, just a re-load of the latest firmware that I have. During flash attempts the phone is in Firmware Update mode, developer options are enabled, Enable OEM unlock is enabled and USB debugging is on. USB communications is set to MTP. It is running Android 7.0 Kernel 3.18.31 Software version LS992ZVF. Again, this is a "DEMO" phone if that makes a difference.
IN the LGMST if I choose the option of "Upgrade Recovery" the LGMST actually downloads a firmware image but fails when it tries to load it to the phone. It seems the phone has a built in flash-block by any method other than OTA. The phone is not active with any carrier so the OTA Firmware load method is not an option.
If anyone has insights as to what is going on I would sure like to know what they are. If I have to trash the phone I will.
Thanks,
Tom
Recently I bought an s20 ultra from Ebay and I can't get it to upgrade. It says the operating system is up to date. I know I can do it manually if necessary. My question is why can't it do it automatically?

Is it AT&T locked or that (ATT) is just a coincidence? Maybe it really is the latest version for AT&T locked devices.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it's locked to AT&T and I have checked on sammobile and there doesn't seem to be an update available for my specific model number but for the SM-G988U1 there are, also for other model numbers of the S20 Ultra, why would mine be left out, do you have any ideas?

Because your mobile carrier can't be arsed to validate the update and distribute to its locked devices. I've heard a lot of grief over the years over locked devices and updates and being unable to tinker with the phone because the bootloaders are all locked.

Thanks I guess the best thing to do would be to have it unlocked and then hope it gets updated. or do it manually.
