Hi all,
check this thread..

4 GB? Sounds way too insanely good to be true. And wouldn't make much sense unless they were planning to launch the exact same device later with access to the
RAM, so they could keep manufacturing costs down while still having a new device.
please dont post tings like this! i had a real hard time choosing between the16gb hd7 and the 8gb omnia 7 ( i live in uk so there is no 16gb omnia 7) in the end i opted for the 8gb omnia 7 but was secretly hoping it had a micro SD slot inside. a teardown revealed that it didnt and so im stuck with 8gb ,, at least its nand memory. how i would love 16gb but your thread got my hopes up only to break my heart again.....only way for 16gb uk omnia is to desolder the 8gb memory and put in a 16gb one? dont suspose anybody knows whatthe 16gb chip is inside the german model?
From the article:
UPDATE: Thanks to Fred in the comments bellow who found the answer to this confusing situation. For some totally illogical reason Samsung is listing the Rom and Ram in Gigabites and the iNAND storage in Gigabytes. So 8Gb = 1GB of Rom and 4Gb = 512MB or DDR SDRAM Ram.

I have the Galaxy S3 SGH-L710 (Virgin Mobile)
I used the CPU-Z app to view the hardware info.
CPU-Z reported that my Ram memory is 1.57 GB (1579 MB)
This model phone is suppose to have 2 GB of memory.
Just wandering if it's an indication of bad memory, or a software glitch or if it's something else.
Can anyone with same model post here and let me know what you get.
See if you have same reading as me. Thanks.
I believe some RAM is allocated to system files on boot so that the phone can start up. Also, the amount of physical space on a chip is different than the space a system can use. For instance any flash drive you get that is advertised as having 16 GB of space, actually has about ~14-15 GB, because they say that it has 1.6 billion bytes (or whatever the number is), but there are 1024 kb in 1 MB, and 1024 MB in 1 GB, plus the space needed for driver files lowers the total amount of space available to what you see. So all of that is probably what amounts to what you're seeing, I'm not an expert nor am I a developer, but I've looked into these things a bit.
Plus, you could just google search "why is my phone's ram less than it's supposed to be" and get a clearer answer!
Thanks for your response. That explains things.
Hi,
Any news about the model with 6GB of RAM?
I want to know the final over price compared with the 4GB version; and the expected release date.
Regards.
I bought 6gb version from Amazon.in but not yet shipped. Shipping starts from 7th March this is what they have provided the update. Also this is not 128GB version. It comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM. They would have proivded 128Gb instead of 64GB since M30 higher version comes with 128GB and lesser price i.e.,18k

Thank you!
And which price has the 6GB/64GB compared with the 4GB/64GB in India?
Rs. 22,990
I bought the 6GB/64GB A50 today at the Samsung Cafe store today. Was informed that the 128GB variant won't be launching in India anytime soon.
Hi,
I feel Samsung is joking with us:
- In India you can purchase 4G+64 and 6G+64.
- In Philippines they accept pre-orders only of 6G+128.
- In Europe only the 4G+128 is published.
The 4GB of RAM version is a pure joke! Only the 6GB of RAM version has enough memory to run smoothly.
So, why in some markets (like Europe) the 6GB version ins't available?

Pixel 3 and 3xl too have 4gb ram. But, do they slow down? No, because it depends on optimization and ram management. 3gb is sufficient for now.
Hi,
Sorry for people that thinks 4GB of RAM isn't a joke!
Please, take note about this:
- My previous 2018 & 2017 mid-range smartphones have 4GB of RAM, so it's time to go forward.
- All flagships of 2019 have 6, 8 or more RAM, so 6GB isn't much memory.
- Android Q & R will expect to have 4GB of minimum RAM, so for the two next upgrades 4GB will be the minimum.
- From 2019 the stock memory range is entry-level-->4GB, mid-range-->6GB, premium-->8GB.
Please, take note that this model is for 2019-2020, so the 4GB it's a cut-down version. And the problem is: In Europe (perhaps in other areas too) only the version with 4GB will be avaiable. And this in fact is a joke!

No it's a common misconception that future phone will need more RAM , I am using a 4 yr old device with just 1.5 GB Ram and I can Play PUBG Mobile (It's at least playable, because it's a SD400 Series processor). 4 GB RAM is enough for a smartphone
My phone has Android pie (Bootleggers ROM) and it works Perfectly fine with 1.5 GB ram.
Pixel and iPhone have only 4GB RAM but still they are flagships, due to their software optimizations.
DONT EXPECT YOUR PHONE TO BE FASTER IF IT HAS MORE RAM, IT ALL DEPENDS UPON THE PROCESSOR
I have malaysian version with XME firmware and 6GB ram with 128 GB storage. Anyone knows if they are going to send new update for this version because I am stuck on february patch while others have moved on to april update.

I am using it. I bought it for 25.5K TK.
Hi,
As Samsung doesn't like to sold the 6GB version of the A50 in EUROPE, I'll purchase the A70... that has ONLY 6GB of RAM in EUROPE (and 8GB in India).
WHY THIS?
I just downloaded AIDA and my S20 is showing 14Gb Ram only, does anyone has the same issue?

Every phone has a certain amount of RAM reserved for the OS and etc.
You never get the full % of the amount of RAM they say the phone has.
hmmmm actually you just need to get used to the marketing speak that manufacturers use to cheat consumers.
In computer speak, 1 GB = 1024MB, or 1,073,741,824 Bytes
In marketing Speak, 1 GB =1000 "MB" or 1,000,000,000 "bytes"
Your phone's OS talks in computer speak, hence 16,000,000,000 bytes = 14.9 GB
the "RAM reserved by OS" is just a con. The OS reserves only about 500mb to 1gb of ram.
The phone manufacturers got "worried" about people questioning them, and starting faking display in their in system apps showing 16,000,000,000 bytes as 16GB so that non IT people won't be making any noise. However, if you use a proper app, you'll see only 14.9 GB.
Perfectly normal.
There is indeed 16GB physical ram installed.
Isn't it the same with SD and micro SD cards?like I have a 1 TB. micro SD card but as soon as you pop it in to the phone it registers 0.93 gb.
Good morning to everyone
I looked at the memory and found that the indications of the mobile compared to the AIDA64 are different. I attach pictures below. Which of the two is correct?
AIDA is correct because an 8GB isnt 8GB, its less than 8GB
for example when you get a 64gb usb, it isnt 64gb is 50 something
I believe you are seeing the ram being used by operating system
You shouldn't really care what is being reported as long as the model you have is the model you paid for.
7.XXXMB = 8gb depending on the app that is reporting.
