Hi guys,
Here's a weird behavior I would like to share and maybe there's something I should disable somewhere to solve this.
I use the A70 as a GPS to drive me to work/home.
To have it at sight in my car, I have a magnetic air vent mount adapter.
So that this adapter can hold the phone, I slipped the phone into a case and between the phone's back and the case, I inserted a thin metal plate.
So when I put the phone on the magnetic mount adapter, it simply stays there with the magnet.
The metal plate is located at the really bottom of the phone, where the voice mic, the USB plug and speakers are located.
As soon as I hook up the phone to the magnetic air vent mount, display goes off.
If I take it away from the magnetic air vent mount, screen goes on again.
Totally reproductible...
Now, if I move the metal plate slightly up (approximately to the SAMSUNG branding at the back), NO PROBLEMS...
Anyone have heard about this ? Is there a way to solve it ? Maybe something like the detection of those cases with a sleeve at the front ?
If this cannot be disabled, I will not be able to keep the phone

Oh I have actually ordered baseus car mount and back cover for support. If that doesn't work Its an issue.
the power button gets pressed when I use my current car mount that fixed to Window as the power button is almost middle of the phone and not enough gap between volume down and power button.

HI,
Thanks for your answer...
I looked at it but it was disabled.
So I tried to enable it, and it seems to be better now, but remains to be confirmed...
Regards.
Same problem but when im using a new case the back seems very sensitiva to magnets, the screen remains off in the case all the time. Did you fix it? Trier to turn automatic unlock off but No change.

This is my variation of a 3 pin pogo charging car dock.
I noticed the spacing of the SD sliding contact prongs from an old multicard reader were very close to the spacing of our 3 pins on the Gnex.
So I took it apart, pryed off the reader, and bent the prongs up slightly to make contact. I filed off as much extra plastic as possible. I snipped & striped a USB cable and soldered the red and black wires to the respective prongs.
Im in Norway, so I didn't have access to a VZW dumb dock to make this nice and clean. Instead I used a universal car mount to clamp down on the bottom half of a clamshell gnex case for repeatable contact. I put an NFC tag in the mount to trigger NFC Retag app to launch Torque app and enable bluetooth communication with the ELM 327 ODB2 bluetooth transmitter. These are cheap, and I highly recommend them to anyone interested in car tuning.
My next step is to flash the full amp pogo charging kernel, and actually mount this in the car when my wife gets back with it.

ok, reuploaded pictures that fit on the screen now.
Nice, this looks simple enough. I'll have to try this out with my dock.
If you are rooted you can charge much faster than the default 500amp limit on the pogo pins if you use a kernel with chads fast charge mod(like Franco kernel)

Its a crappy rocketfish from bestbuy, I linked to it in first post. but I wouldn't recommend using it as a case, its nearly impossible to get off and leaves weird marks.
Here is the charge SS from my drive. I did get a batt lvl increase with blue tooth, gps, syncs and light browsing in use. So it works.
Did you ever get that fast charge working thru the pogo pins?
Yes, it worked beautifully on the fast charge kernel from faux and Franco. Im m the JB builds now , waiting for that feature again. It makes a big difference.
So, you have a shiny new Galaxy S3 and you know that you're prone to dropping it into caves, diving into oceans with it in your pocket, or running it over with your tank, so like any smart individual you opted to buy yourself a super protective case like Otterbox Defender or similar. Problem is now you've just taken out the possibility of placing it in a charging cradle, or some sort of desktop holding device, right? Not Anymore!

With a few simple and cheap items, you can make yourself one that doesn't look like a 7 year old kid put it together during arts and crafts!
Here's a list of what you'll need, starting from most expensive to possibly free if your boss isn't looking
Logitech MX Revolution Mouse - you only need the charging cradle, but it'll be tough finding just the cradle without this fantastic Wiltron recommended mouse - eBay average pricing at time of posting was about $15-30 dollars for the mouse and cradle. We're going to be removing the guts of the cradle so the mouse wont be able to be charged any more after this.
USB Cable - The same one that came with your phone or an aftermarket one. Should have a good plastic head on it for stability, but the stock cable is fine too (that's what I'm using).
Tools - Drill, Screwdriver (+), Knife, Hot Glue or epoxy if you're fancy
(Optional) Expanding non-flammable foaming insulation - this is only for stability and additional weight, and is purely optional. I used it in one of the two cradles I made.
Once we've pilfered the office supply cabinet, it's time to get to work. Start by turning it over and peeling off the warning label and rubber feet. Save the little feet thingies as you'll need them later. There should be one or more screws to remove. My home cradle had 4 in a box shape, but the one I have at work only had one screw in the center. Once removed, hollow out the guts and kick them in a stylish fashion as you'll no longer need them. Seen in red below, push out that separator plate as that's what you'll be working with for drilling and gluing. Ignore the green part for now, that comes later.
You'll want to either stick the metal portion of the USB cable through a small drilled hole (or cut hole with the knife, depending on how badass you are), or if your case is substantially large, put a portion of the plastic housing around the USB head through a larger drilled (or cut) hole.
Once you've tested the seating of your phone with the position of the cable so that it will charge when seated, glue it in place in the red plate, and re-seat it into the cradle. Glue that plate in if it's loose. When the glue is dried, if you've opted to use the expanding foam, get foaming. Cut/file away excess foam, and then re-seal the bottom plate after 24 hours (so the foam is set and has stopped expanding).
Now, remember that green line in the image above? You can leave that as is, or file it down. I left it as is and it causes no ill effects. A little balancing game is required if I want to "dock" it in portrait mode, but landscape mode is fine (abet unable to charge in this fashion).
It does work though

Got the T800 6 days ago, love it.
On Sunday I got a Muvit butterfly stand case to go with it. Now this cover turns off the screen when I
fold it back. Even when it's in a reading stand and I pick it up and accidentally squeeze the cover towards the tablet it turns off the screen.
I hate it when I don't have control over my tablet. I looked for a solution by freezing a lot of Samsung apps, I disabled the smart cover option under settings, all to no avail.
Is there anything I can do? Perhaps flash a different kernel? I have rooted the latest official firmware, but apart from flashing twrp I haven't done anything else.
This is the case I got. I have no clue where the magnets are, and in any case, cutting them out would basically destroy it. So that's not a solution either.
http://www.tabletcenter.be/product-gallery/514549/category-195707/345915
Maybe:
If you heat a magnetic material above its Curie Temperature, its magnetism vanishes entirely. When the magnet cools down again, all the microscopic magnetic domains will point in circles, so the magnet will have zero overall field. Neodymium magnets have a low Curie Temp, so they are more sensitive to overheating than other types of magnets.
If you expose a magnet to the field from a strong electromagnet, the electromagnet will magnetize the magnet perhaps in a different polarity. But if we instead use an AC electromagnet, then move it away from the magnet, the magnet's polarity will flip back and forth, becoming weaker and weaker. The magnet will end up demagnetized. This is called Degaussing.
So...maybe you can find, or someone can suggest, a source for a strong AC magnetic field??? Then remove the tablet from the case and and introduce the case into the AC magnetic field??
On the S 10.5 the sensor is located in the lower right corner of the tablet. Looking at the screen, it's about 1/2 inch from the right and just about 3/4 inch from the bottom (just above where the black masking ends). You can use the tip of a magnetic screwdriver or something similar to pinpoint it. It can be activated from the either the front or the back of the tablet. It is just about where the red dot in the picture is located.
Just trying to help....

Thank you for your reply, never thought about degaussing the case's magnet. Interesting idea. I was originally thinking about going for a software solution but I'll certainly try to find do a way to perform your solution. BTW, the picture doesn't show in the tapatalk forum app nor on the Web based forum.
The again.

Hi all...
I've been using this phone for long time but never successfully found a good car mount. I don't want suction cup style, nor air vent clip. I am thinking of getting one of those magnetic ones. I heard comments about strong magnet interferes the screen on/off. But my main concern is the design of our phone. Our ZF2 has curved back. But this magnetic mount required to have best performance on regular phone with flat back.
I would like comment from those who used this kind of magnetic mount.
TIA
I have the aukey one. I bent the metal plate and can fit it behind the stock back cover.
It's the best set up.
No extra bulge. No case.
Jump in car.
Put on magnet. Holds tight.
Doesn't affect GPS or reception.

No problem with back curve of our zenfone 2. Strong and effective. But with no case. If i try to put magnet inside the case the strong isnt enough. I hold but fall down when you grab a hola in the street
I use with a case and the magnet in back of case. Very nice
P.S - Doesent affect anything in screen or coverage. Double tap work as it should
I had one of this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/MEMTEQ-Univ...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
I was very sceptic in the beginning, but it worked nicely, no problem with the curved back. However when I wanted to use it with a cover as well, it didn't hold any more. At that point I replaced the piece of metal provided in the packet with a larger metal piece which I stick in between the case and the back, and that way I got it holding with, but not perfectly.
Conclusion, only buy magnet holder if you are using your ZF without any flipcover or anything else.
Thx! Is yours ball joint standard 17mm one? The thing is... before I could wait someone to feedback here, I decided to purchase the Arkon ones (non magnetic mount) that has a standard 17mm ball join on a AMPS plate (as shown below) that stick with on my existing mount.

Never measured it to be honest, but looks like.
HI all,
After being frustrated in finding the perfect car mount with fast wireless charging, I decided to make my own. I already own an Anker car mount (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HNSIHCO/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and decided to use that instead.
I purchased a fast wireless charger from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E1EIAQQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for $6.99, and promptly took it apart.

All those screws...
A few more hiding here
But wait, there's more!
And finally, we get to the guts...
Even though the desciption says 1 coil, there are in fact 2, so you can rest the phone in landscape or stand it up
The IC board, secured by 4 screws
Status LED, covered by a piece of plastic that pops off, and secured by two more screws
And here it comes off
The other side of the IC board.
And the back of the QI coils. This adhesive is fairly strong, so I protected it with thick plastic sheeting, and reused it to attach it to my car mount. Note the dangling two wires - that's attached to the status LED, which you can route to wherever you like. I just removed it for simplicity's sake, since the phone indicates when it's charging. The light also turns off after a couple of minutes (to prevent distraction when trying to sleep, so not really useful as an indicator of charging).
This is it rough mounted
I don't have final pics yet, will put them up soon. I didn't like how the IC board was just hanging out, so I designed a 3d-printable box to enclose it. I removed the LED status light, because I didn't need it, and have it up and running!
Mounting it, you want the top-most coil to be right around the midpoint of your S8+, seems like this is the sweet spot. It consistently charges at around 870mA, though it does fluctuate. The most important thing is that it will charge 870mA under load (google maps, pandora, and 100% brightness during daytime driving). Is it as fast as the usb-c cable and a fast charger? No, but it will save wear and tear, and I can just put the phone in the dock and go, and not have to hunt around for the cable. Note, you will need a fast car charger in order for this to work. I use this one that I ordered from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Adaptive-Charging-Charger-Adapter/dp/B00TZ9PO6M/ref=sr_1_28?ie=UTF8&qid=1502600122&sr=8-28, though you could probably use any adaptive fast charger compatible with the Samsung S8.
I will probably cover the Qi coils with electrical tape to reduce the chance of damage from friction, and will put an NFC tag to automate routine things I do when I get in the car (currently I'm using an old NFC-embedded transit pass with the app Trigger - shuts off wifi and auto-launches Google Maps. Still trying to figure out how to auto-enable low power mode, since I don't need push notifications for many things while I'm driving).
Link to the printable box - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2480924
Let me know if you have any questions. For 6.99 + tax + some electrical tape, you can build your own fast wireless charging mount with your existing car mount.
good start.
If you are using a case you could consider making it magnetic:

True, but I figured I already had a mount that I liked, and this makes it cheaper for me. For many others, they may already have a mount that they like, and this would add fast wireless charging to it.
If in the future I need to replace my mount, I may go the magnetic route. It's cool to just hold it up and have it pulled onto the mount and centered.
