Now that Sprint's got these in-store, does anyone know if they pulled a Verizon and locked their bootloaders?
I'm due for an upgrade, and if it's not locked down, it'll be nice to move back from my S10+ to AOSP.
EDIT: This does _NOT_ refer to the 3a or 3a XL. Sprint is stocking both the 3 / 3 XL in addition to the 3a / 3a XL.

So, uh, about that. The screenshot below shows that the plain-jane Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are in stock _as well as_ the 3a / 3a XL. I've also called over to the local corporate store and verified that they have all four variants (3 / 3a / 3 XL / 3a XL) in stock.
The 3a / 3a XL are right out for me, as the resolution on those is lower and there's a slightly lower build quality (though with a higher-capacity battery).
As @abranson said, there is a forum for the 3a XL here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3a-xl
And I believe they are still locked just like Verizon.
I'm so fffiinnn livid right now!!!
Just got my Pixel 3xl in the mail today and low and behold oem unlocking is greyed out!!! I have never heard of this and after a quick Goole search here I am relaying my adventure!!!
Don't buy a sprint pixel if you want to unlock
So lame man.....
Why does anyone buy a pixel phone from any carrier when you can buy it from google for cheaper, on basicly the same monthly payment plan? If your credit is good enough to get you a cellular account, then it should be good enough to get google store credit.

I ended up purchasing two Google-Unlocked Pixel XL phones because I thought the first person I purchased from had scammed me. Turns out he didn't and now I have one currently activated on Verizon and the second one coming in tomorrow. Now, the one coming in tomorrow is of much nicer condition, so obviously I want to use that one and sell the one that I am currently using.
Now, can I simply take the nano-sim out of the currently activated Pixel XL phone and put it into the new Pixel XL and it will automatically be activated? Do I need to go to a Verizon store or do anything online?
I took the sim from my Moto X pure edition and put it in my Pixel XL with no issue at all.

Just swap the SIM.
Thank You guys for the responses!
Will I have to login to the Verizon website and add/delete phones as well?

I just swapped the SIMs and didn't even let them know anything. After a couple of day, the visual voicemail started working (that's the thing that I thought I was going to have to call them about).
Just swap the sim, after a bit the Verizon website recognized the phone as a pixel as well with no notification on my part to Verizon.

Right now, my phone is a Nexus 6P that I was given second-hand. However, I am thinking about upgrading to a Pixel 2 XL (maybe buy one when the Pixel 3/3 XL comes out).
I know that the Verizon Pixel 2 XL has a locked bootloader, where the Google Play version has an unlockable one. I don't want to wait for someone to unlock the VZ variant (I tried "waiting" for an unlock with the Sprint LG G4, but had to give up on it even though my G4 never bootlooped).
I know about Swappa, but are there any alternatives to Swappa for a used or refurbished bootloader unlockable Pixel 2 XL?
I also have found Pixel 2 XLs on eBay, but am worried I would end up with a VZ variant. Should I avoid eBay? What should I look for if I want a bootloader unlockable 2XL on eBay?
Also, I'm on Sprint so OnePlus is not an option (well, unless T-Mobile closes their merger with Sprint).
UPDATE: Thanks for the responses. I managed to get a bootloader unlocked Pixel 2 XL on eBay. I also returned it because of hardware issues and now I have a Sprint Moto Z2 Force (my bootloader is unlocked). I guess a working Motorola is better than a broken Pixel (plus my Z2 Force is cheaper new versus the Pixel 2 XL used, and my Z2 runs Lineage, so that's two pluses, although the 2XL probably will get Lineage sometimes).

Why don't you just buy an unlocked Pixel 2 xl (international version) from Amazon.com?

I'm on Sprint, so the international version won't work, only the US version (I believe it includes the bootloader unlockable one).

Most eBay purchases can be returned for credit. Big plus. I got a Google refurb on eBay and it had more tint that one other in our family,
making me wonder if it was one of the bunch that was returned in the pink-tint terror time just after P2-XL was released. If you buy a Swappa
unlocked P2-XL, it's for sure not going to be a Verizon and may includes box and contents - maybe important later when you go to sell it.
To michaelbsheldon, thank you for your answer.
Also, when the Pixel 3 XL comes out, how much should the Pixel 2 XL's drop? Not that it has to be accurate, but for instance you could show how much the original Pixel XL dropped in price when the 2 XL came out.

Anyone got their Pixel 3 or 3XL working on Sprint? Any issues?
People have Pixel 3s working on Project Fi (which uses Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular)... So an unlocked P3 should have zero issues on Sprint.
I'm still waiting for my P3XL to arrive, but I've had a Nexus 6, Nexus 5x, and a Pixel XL all on Project Fi... So that's a solid yes that the P3 will work on Sprint alone.
No issues for me. You will need to get a SIM card before you activate it. I went to Best Buy and purchased the SIM then called Sprint to activate the phone. No problem.s

Same here but I went to a Sprint Corporate store. The sim for the 3xl on Sprint ends in 516QT and they charged me $2.99 for it.

Activated two Pixel 3XL's on Sprint at Corp Store...no problems, other than it wasn't in their on-floor iPad, but the guys in the back got the SIM's activated in less than 5 min.
Ordered my Pixel from google, ordered SIM card from Sprint chat. Phone arrived, SIM arrived went back to Chat, activated within 5 minutes.
Only issue was I had to contact chat again this morning so they could provision for the hotspot, but that took 3 minutes.
I was able to download Visual Voicemail from the play store as that was the only Sprint app I wanted.
Easy Peasy.
I have no problems on Sprint. Been running my 3XL since the 17th. WiFi calling even works. It wasn't a possibility on the 2XL.

Pixel 3a
Please mention all the differences as i am planning to buy pixel 3 from US and use in India.
I heard only difference is verizon's one - Bootloader Not Unlockable
Google's oan - Bootloader Unlockable
Rest everything is same? SW is same? features and recieve updates at the same time ? Can i use in India's Jio or Airtel VolTE ? or atleast can i flash india's OS/ROM on it? because earlier when i bought Verison S7 i could not do anything though it is SD Edition & India Exynos Edition.
Does both are identical except the Bootloader thing ?

Since Google published a different image for Verizon, I would have to say they are not identical. My guess would be something different in the radios.

I assume the Verizon images are just prebloated with Verizon's crap.

While that is certainly possible, I would like to to believe Google would not do that in a factory image. But you never know.

I only ever received the VZW apps on the first boot of my phone with the VZW SIM installed. The factory images don't install the apps again, or at least didn't on the Pixel 1 XL or Pixel 2 XL. I believe the changes are related to radio as there are usually a few different carrier variants (or have been in the past), but sometimes they are bundled into things like:
Verizon/Everyone Else
Verizon/Europe
etc.
Verizon is still considering SIM-locking the Pixel 3 lineup if purchased from Verizon. You can always put a Verizon SIM in an unlocked Pixel purchased from the Google Play Store if you want to be sure you have options to change carriers at some point.
On the OG XL, I believe Radios were the only difference besides bootloader lock. Maybe the My Verizon app as well.

Hello folks,
I am sorry for adding one more question to this dilemma?
I just got a refurb Pixel XL from ebay. I specifically told the seller that I am looking for a google version and not verizon but it seems, they sent me Verizon version as OEM Unlocking is grayed out in Developer options. Is that the only test there is to figure out if its Verizon or Unlocked google phone?
One of the threads linked http://www.imeipro.info/check_lg.html but it doesn't recognize IMEI of the phone I received.
Finally, I found this thread, https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/how-to/how-to-unlock-bootloader-verizon-pixel-t3796030 Can these instructions be used for a Verizon device running Android Pie/9.0? If yes, I will keep the device as its in pristine condition.
Thanks in advance, for all helpful comments.
You can unlock the bootloader on Verizon yes.

I actually bought an XL off eBay and sent it back as it was a Verizon, confirmed with a Google rep, and didn't know I could unlock the bootloader.
I bought another one and it was also a Verizon, but I did follow the guide after updating to Pie and it still works great. Now I'm fully rooted nad bootloader is unlocked.
Would unlocking the bootloader on a Verizon version essentially make it a normal Google Pixel XL? Any other differences? I want to use a Verizon Pixel for AT&T.

No device difference. You would just use a GSM SIM for AT&T of course.
I just bought a pixel xl of 128gb, what is the exact way to know if it is a verizon version?

So if I'm shopping for a used Pixel XL, how can I tell with models have an unlockable bootloader?
I had previously read that only Play Store editions are unlockable, so I was surprised to see this thread say Verizon is unlockable.

To see if your phone is Verizon, go here ( https://www.verizonwireless.com/od/prepaid/bring-your-own-device/?imei=352630085164358#/checkDevice) and enter your IMEI. You'll get one of two responses:
If it's a Verizon phone, it will say "Awesome, your Google Pixel XL, Phone by Google is a perfect match for our network.."
If it's not Verizon, it will say "Awesome, your Google PIXEL XL NON-VZW is a perfect match for our network."
