[Q] Screen Brightness

hi, i'm using HTC Desire HD with leedroid rom and kernel.
i read that to save more battery, i must turn down the screen brightness to a low level. but i want to use the auto brightness function but sometimes it isnt accurate to the environment(sorry for bad english). uhm any tweaks or mods that has customized auto brightness? thanks in advance guys
I found that the best thing to do is to do it manualy by using the brightness level app on the market which has a slider on it.
I use Tasker to set the screen brightness to levels defined by me in response to ambient light levels. Takes some experimentation to get it working right, but it's worth it.
Or then you can switch to CM7 as it has all screen adjustments built in the settings i.e automatic screen dimming level adjustments, different levels etc etc.

Auto brightness

Hi
I think the original auto brightness are way to dark, and even the brightest mod "Best Screen" are to dark, too...
Are there any brighter mods?
Thanks
try lux auto brightness from market if u r not rooted

make default android brightness slider stop using PWM?

On the stock AT&T note 2 (although this is true for other versions as well) if you adjust the brightness slider down, the display with dim using PWM pulse width modulation which causes strobe flickering.
There are some apps that dim the display without using PWM. Right now I'm looking for a way to make it so that the default android brightness slider will dim the display without using PWM. Are any of the custom ROMs able to do this?
thanks

Auto Brightness Questions

I've been trying to figure out this auto brightness thing myself and their implementation is definitely a little unique.
So with auto on, the slider still has a slight effect in that auto with slider at 100 favors a slightly higher brightness than auto with slider at 0? So with auto on it always adjust to the environment but the scale is slightly different depending on the slider? Auto 100 will use more battery then auto 0?
Has anyone actually tested that? Is there any way to see the actual current nominal brightness level because I'm not positive that's what's happening. The other thing that I suspect could be occurring is that moving the slider when auto mode is on has a temporary effect and then auto re-kicks in again.
Try Lux app to custom control brightness

I have lux, but that wasn't my question.
That's intended behavior. Whatever you have the slider on is the 'base' value while auto brightness is enabled. So you can change the base value to favor more or less brightness.
I still stick with lux to get the best auto brightness control
when we tap on Auto Brightness in toggle panel there is a small "C" letter on brightness icon there.Anyone one what does it mean in real?
Comfort or custom or...?

Adjust ambient display brightness?

Is there a way to brighten the ambient display, such as the clock and notifications that appear? I can barely see it in the sun. I had no problem seeing my moto z play in the sun.

If you go into settings / display there is a brightness slider that you can use to manually set the screen at a brighter level. I'm not sure if that recalibrates the base Android uses in its ambient settings or not. If you just are used to a brighter screen and find that the ambient setting continues to make the screen dimmer than you like after using the slider you can just turn the ambient display feature off entirely. I personally like the feature but a lot of people don't and just turn it off.
There are also apps in the Play Store that allow you to manually adjust the screen brightness without going into the settings menu, if you want to have easier control over it.

I know that the AOKP ROM allows alot of modifications to the ambient display brightness settings. Other ROMs may do the same but I know and use the settings on AOKP. It's a very good ROM! Native settings don't have the options.
AOKP and Pixel Dust are the two roms I know of that have this option.
You don't need a ROM to kick in higher brightness on auto brightness.
Just root and install ElementalX kernel or one based on it.
Then install this widget and once toggled, it will give you way more max brightness on auto brightness.

I noticed that my wife's phone has significantly brighter ambient display. They have identical settings as far as I can tell. So I'm not sure but I would love to find out the answer cause I want mine brighter too
Go to advanced display settings and toggle off the option to wake the screen with new notifications, then turn off the lift to view gesture. Your ambient display should brighten significantly.
