From Mi A1 to 3 XL - Google Pixel 3 XL Questions & Answers

Hi all, I'm coming from a Xiaomi Mi A1 to this awesome phone. My friend sold it to me for 400 bucks in PerĂº and is on Q Beta 3 but I'll like to install it a custom Pie ROM or leave it on stock and install magisk. Does anybody tell me what are the first steps to make it happen or send me a link to do it without breaking it.

Make sure your bootloader is unlocked. Then follow steps here. You will also lose all your info, so be sure to backup everything.

Will Chinese version of Xiaomi Mi 6 work properly with Google?

Hello everyone. I'm in China currently and I'll stay here for a while. I'm planning to buy Xiaomi Mi 6 from Taobao. Here is the link
So am I going to be able to use Google services? Play Store and all other if I buy this phone? Also, if not, I guess that I need to root my phone and install custom rom in order to get Google services. Is there any way to root and install custom rom as well as TWRP without using the computer?
Thanks
I've been to China and I bought a redmi not 3 there, in my experience there should be no problem; you buy the phone, unlock the bootloader and switch from China to global rom. Probably there is also the possibility to install Gapp on the Chinese rom. The only problem is that if you wanna use Google and it's services in China you better have a VPN
Oh, I understand. But it's not the same. Models are different. Actually I'm not sure. It's going to be my first Xiaomi phone. So far I'm familiar with Xperia and HTC. Love them both but "high" end devices are getting too expensive. I'm also considering to buy OnePlus 3T. What do you guys think which is better and easier for unlocking, rooting and installing custom roms?
I repeat again that I'm not familiar with these brands, never touched them actually I Need your help! And don't forget that I don't have PC. Unlocking bootloader, root, recovery and rom must be done without Pc. Help help help

Just unlock bootloader and flash Global rom via MiFlash. It's that easy.
My device is the Chinese model. Bought from a seller who just imports them and flashes the global ROM
The mi 6 models are all identical.
Global is the same as Chinese anyway just a different model number since they had to get more legal things pushed through to sell it internationally.
Buy the Chinese model in China. It will be cheapest there.
Then when you are back in a country which supports Google services you can unlock the boot loader, then flash using Mi flash to the global ROM.
Since the phone is identical this works fine. I was running the global ROM on mine (now custom ROMs).
Really a great phone and no issues for me.
Also checkout the mi mi 2 it looks pretty awesome but for a "smaller" device Mi 6 is fantastic.

Xiaomi follows the same standard for all their models..
Want to Unlock the bootloader?
-Make a Xiaomi account
-Link the phone to your Xiaomi account
-Request them to allow you to unlock the bootloader
-Waits 72 hours
-Unlock bootloader.
Thank you all for replying, appreciate your help. I'm going to buy Mi 6. Actually I meet a guy today who is willing to help me and he knows about these things. So, buying, unlocking bootloader, flashing official global rom>using Google services Later if I want I need to root device install custom recovery and new rom. We'll see. Any recommendations for rom, with no bugs

Thanks! It's not overheating?
No, it's just too large for me. I like to use phone with one hand. I'm not a fan of displays larger than 5.5 inches so I'll stick with Mi 6.

Android P on Mi Mix 2

Good day
I just read about Android P about to be released for Mi Mix 2S.
Given the close similarity of the Mix 2 and Mix 2S what's the chances of us getting some Android P on our device ?
I just gotten my Mix 2 and need instructions to do the following if anyone could help please ?
I wish to try out a few custom ROMs / developer ROM
I currently have a locked bootloader, am not rooted and am running the Global ROM.
What steps do I have to take ?
Unlock bootloader
Root
Install TWRP ( I got the official app from play store for Mix 2)
Can I back up my stock recovery and current set up then ?
Is it possible to install multiple ROMs and select which one to boot into before selecting one as a daily driver ?
I have 8Gb/128Gb version of Mix 2
What do I loose by unlocking bootloader and rooting ? encryption ? Find my phone ? (can use cereberus instead I guess)
Sorry lots of questions, I have backed up / flashed ROMs on previous devices just wanted a bit of advice before I go ahead on the Mix 2
Cheers

Android P will be released next year for Mix 2 if it is to make it to the phone.
Mix 2s Android P is only a preview and far from the finished software, won't officially be out until end of year.

Hi
You have the Chinese version of the Redmi Note 5 the India version has a 20 no front camera.

Pro extension name is only really used in India, where they have the Redmi 5 Plus(Vince) relabeled as RN5.
Depending on what they seller provided, you might have China or Global Version.

Yes, you can flash miui10 !
-Make sure you have bootloader unlocked and TWRP. First make a full backup with TWRP.
-Also logout of your miui account.
-- files you need. Obviously you need the miui rom, lazyflasher-no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip and the google 3 installer (also magisk as you want to root)
Check on youtube on what to wipe and install procedure. If you have titanium you can backup your programs and settings too. I also use sms & calllog backup .
I would stay away from the custom roms for now as they are not as good at the moment (but will improve)

Best custom rom for Redmi note 5 pro whyred

Hi guys
I would like to ask if possible help me with unlocking, rooting and helping me decide which custom rom to install on my Redmi note 5 pro.
I been off for sometime from xda, so bear with me.
Many thanks
Pixel experience plus (Android Pie) is the most stable and fast custom ROM I have tested
Unlock bootloader by the official Xiaomi application (backup your personal files because this operation will erase all phone data)
Install ADB drivers for Xiaomi device
Flash OrangeFox recovery 10 for Whyred
Wipe cache, system and vendor partitions
Install downloaded ROM (fromixelexperience.com)
Use "How to..." On YouTube to search detailed videos about flashing pixel experience (or any other custom ROM) on Redmi Note 5 Pro

Advising on a ROM is going to be hard as there are soooo many. A lot seem similar when reading them but may have a unique feature or bug. If you are able to change ROMs often then just try them out and swap between them. For me I use my phone for work. I rely on email and some apps. I also need GPS /maps and banking apps to work so I have a ROM that suits. It's an older ROM using 8.1 and I would like to upgrade but can't risk bugs.
To unlock the bootloader you need the official Xiaomi unlocked and sign up your account. Takes a few days or used to anyway.
Once unlocked just install your ROMs the usual way
