Ive been searching around but cant seem to find any apps that would do this. seems to me like it would be quite simple to do. anyone know o something similar to able to quickly put something together?
Main reason at the moment is that i currently have a long wire diagonaly across my room to connect my laptop to my speakers. I just thorght it would be realy good if i could plug my phone into my speakers and then send music to it via bluetooth. Im sure other people have been in this situation where an audio cable has not quite been long enough.
Might be a bit harder but possibly this could work over wifi too and would be able to work from room to room. I expect this would require a pc client though..
any thorghts?
I would love to have something like this. The phone would behave like a bluetooth speaker or headphone (A2DP). This would be fantastic. I was looking for something like this a year ago, I thought I would find a software which helps me do this, but I was unable to find anything then. Maybe we can find something now.
I could try developing such a software if there is not anything of this sort already available. I would be glad if any experienced developer can provide us some starting points, keywords, etc., which would speed up the initial activities.
Use UPNP media server
the simpler solution is to use unpn media server over wifi networks
like twonkys media server. or xmbc
basically the computer where the files are stored will server the files to any network attached device including HTC through webbrowser.
I have my dish tv /Satellite decoder connected to home pc using vlc and watch the tv on my HTC HD using VLC
for sound files i directly load them over network disk

Bluetooth Audio Receiver
I've got a TV which supports bluetooth headphone. With such a software, I'd be able to use my HTC HD2 as a bluetooth headphone. This should turn the phone into a bluetooth audio reciver, rather than a transmitter.
I've been looking for this software for ages and appreciate any ideas.

yea this would have been good. was halfway through downloading xmbc when i realised it wont work in my case.. im at university and the wireless has some security issues that wont let it connect to my phone
also wireless drains quite a bit more battery than bluetooth and would probably have to plug in the phone each time you do this.
some great links though, now we need some bluetooth ones!!!
Is this what you need?
http://beemer.sesma.eu/en/btaudionav.htm
Let's see if I get that right:
You want to send BT stereo audio from your BT-enabled laptop to your phone, and plug your phone into speakers for audio output. Right?
Might be easier to get a bluetooth receiver for your speakers. There are some for your home audio system (e.g. at amazon).
What I did was get a stereo bluetooth headset receiver. You can use it as a bluetooth headset (in your car, on the bus, wherever) OR you can simply plug it into your speakers. Just be sure to find one with a 3,5mm plug (and not wired-on headphones) so that you can use your own headphones or plug in your speakers. There's a choice of fine receivers from
Nokia (BH-214, BH-500, ...)
SonyEricsson (HBH-DS205, HBH-DS980, ...)
Jabra (BT3030, ...)
or you can try and get a cheap but great one from the itech clip series.

no, I dont think so. thanks for the suggestion though!
we arnt trying to get sound from the phone to a bluetooth speaker but instead turn the phone itself into a speaker whcih can recieve audio from other bluetooth devices.
for example if watching a film on my laptop, i would like to plug my phone into my speakers, connect up the bluetooth, and watch rather than running a cable to the speakers which are a long way away.
Nik, you bet me by one...

to be honest ive actualy already ordered this:
http://shoponspot.com/bluetooth-20-a2dp-avrcp-stereo-music-receiver-and-handsfree-black/
I still would like to see this app developed as i can imagine future situations where this happens and i dont want to have to carry this around everywhere.
also people with bluetooth tvs im sure would prefure not to have to use another device all the time and occasionaly you get bluetooth headset transmitters in public places where this might be useful.
hope it is possible!
ooo wow! im a senior member now!!
well i received my bluetooth headset but unfortunatly it charges through the 3.5mm headphone jack so i am unable to leave it there to just work
Ive also tried plugging in a headphone splitter but it realy dosnt like that!! so that means every time i leave my room i will have to put the reciever on charge and every time i return i will have to turn it on and plug it in.
does anyone know if it would be possible to get the phone to work as a bluetooth audio reciever? seems like something it should be able to do
I'd like to bump this because I've been searching for ages for exactly this. I'd personally like to go one step further and have a client that would support A2DP and the handsfree protocol. The latter I would like to allow me to answer and initiate calls to my work mobile using my HD2 as though it was a bluetooth handsfree kit. Then I could use one phone for all my calls.
I can imagine a wide range of useful applications that other solutions like wifi audio streaming or a dedicated bluetooth audio receiver wouldn't match.
I wish I knew how to write software... Maybe if I ever have a few hundred hours of spare time on my hands I'll learn and write an app to do this.
i also want this.
please anyone help.
This would be great.. i currently have an nvidia shield tv and I can plug my normal wired headphones into the nvidia shield's bluetooth remote. The problem is the remote's battery life only lasts a few days when used like this. I would love to be able to use my mobile phone as a back up for when the nvidia remote battery dies. For some reason the nvidia remote won't charge unless my head phones are unplugged.

Upgraded my factory cassette car stereo to a new one with usb port (no bluetooth), thinking I could both stream the phone's audio and charge the battery via usb.
Well, the battery's levels actually decrease when plugged in, and more to the point, the phone isn't recognized in usb mode in the stereo and quickly goes to radio mode and the phone displays the following message (please see attached screenshot)...
...my phone is stock, not rooted. Stereo is not bluetooth-enabled, and I would prefer to stream via usb than the aux port.
-> Can anyone advise any tweaks or apps that would enable the phone's streaming audio to be played via the stereo's USB mode?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply.
It's a 4Runner.
Hoping to focus here on how to get the devices to recognize one another...
That's weird. Maybe a driver issue with the stereo? Does it have a hard drive? Never used stereo with usb port. I think my wife's suv has one.

The stereo is very basic, no hd.
Anyone know of any tweaks/downloads I can make to the phone in order to get the audio properly streamed via usb?

I have a similiar radio. No bluetooth but a usb on the front and an audio input on the front. As I understand it the stereo itself can't access the phone this way. It doesn't have drivers to recognize the Samsung phone. Think about it. you plug your phone into your computer by usb but you have to download and install drivers for the two to work together. Mine from the looks of it has Iphone drivers built in but nothing for android. You can probably plug a thumb drive in loaded with music and it'll play. What I do is use a stereo cable from headphone output on the phone to the audio in on the stereo. If I need to charge it I have the standard car charger for that.

Youre doing it wrong
The reason the battery is decreasing is the amount of current drawn from the device. Either the radio is not strong enough to supply the right current or the phone is recognizing it as a computer and limiting the draw to 500ma. My rough estimates show that the phone uses closer to 750ma while in use just to run. You can verify how much power it is drawing with this simple application https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abmantis.galaxychargingcurrent.free
You could try to install a kernel that allows you to override the amount of power drawn from the port. I was the first to request the feature and Ktoonsez was nice enough to implement it into his kernel. Now you can set the AC and Computer USB draw to any amount you like.
Secondly, why did you think you could play audio through USB in the first place? I guess it would be possible if the radio supports MTP but then the phone would be acting more like a USB stick and you would have to choose the files manually on the radio itself.
If you really don't want to use an Aux cable then I suggest buying a bluetooth dongle and connecting it to the rear AUX inputs on the radio. They are relatively cheap and you can install it inside the dash never to be seen again.

Yeah, not sure why I thought I could stream via usb either, must've been mixing up the functions of that and the aux cable.
-> So I'm familiar with a bluetooth dongle that connects via usb (...think that would work properly in a car stereo too?) - but you're recommending a dongle that connects internally? Know where I'd find that for sale?
1st, my assumption is you're rooted...?
If no=Boohoo... Root or buy stereo with Bluetooth.
If yes= install this app... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mohammadag.samsungusbmassstorageenabler
Open it, grant it root privileges, click the "mass usb" (I think its called), and profit!
*Music must be on external card.
<-- my thank you is over there
Do you have an auxillary input option on the stereo? 3.5mm jack...
The advantage is that it's guarenteed to work.
The disadvantage is that you can't control the song selection from the stereo. You have to do it from the phone.
Also, could it be there you store the music? If it's on an external SD card I can see where that would fail. Maybe if it was on the internal memory? Remember the car stereo probably isn't real bright. If it doesn't find what it's looking for where it expects to find it, it won't keep looking.
You might have to have it stored in a specificly named directory on the phone too.

"Internally" meaning it goes inside the dash, behind the radio. Its just a bluetooth receiver with an audio output (either a headphone jack or RCA cables)
If you want listen to music over "USB" you can get certain touch screen radios that will mirror your phones display

There is a mod that allows your phone to emulate a usb storage device that would allow you to play music stored on the phone through the stereo you installed, however there would be no controlling any of the sounds, etc via the phone. All the controlling has to come from the stereo itself. Volume, tone, selection, etc. You also need to check the format that the stereo "expects" to see in order for it to be able to function.... Such as Folder size, (files within the folder - how many) How deep the folders are allowed to be set as like in subfolders, etc. What the storage media format is able to be accessed, etc. It gets a little technical and the results are a bit disappointing in the end...
The best I can recommend is a display screen unit that supports using the phone in the USB input. I just installed a Pioneer AVH-X4600BT that works with my (GS4 rooted 4.2.2 Stock ) in my Wife's Subaru Outback. We can plug the phone's USB cable into the stereo (via a Mirrorlink add-on) and run the PHONE using the touch screen of the stereo. You'd be able to run Pandora, answer/make calls, answer/create e-mail and Texting, listen to the music on the phone, watch video that is stored on the phone or DVD's, and most important, NAVIGATION on a 7 inch screen!. All of that though, is dependent on the phone you have. As of yet, the Mirrorlink supports the iPhone, GS3, GS5, and with a hacked app in the phone, it also supports GS4. There is a free app on the market that is called Drivelink which interfaces your phone and the stereo.
You might want to research other stereo devices that have the Mirrorlink application support. I believe Sony has some, but I didn't go past the Pioneer unit. Bottom line, BE SURE TO DO THOROUGH INVESTIGATION ON WHAT YOU WANT TO DO AND THE CONNECTABILITY OF YOUR DEVICES. I know you just bought the unit recently so you just might be having to live with your setup for a while. That's o.k. though, next time you purchase something like that, you will be armed to the gills with knowledge and get something you'll really enjoy.
On my test bench after testing, and was ready to be installed....
Good Luck, and Aloha!

It's doing that because your phone uses MTP as the Media Transfer Protocol. Basically, it kind of mounts like an MP3 player or camera and the new DIN you installed doesn't know what to do with it. The real trick is to get your phone into UMS, USB Mass Storage mode. There's a UMS app in the play store, BUT you have to be rooted to use it. It basically mounts your phone like a regular old thumb drive. Do that and your new DIN will see it no problem. Only thing is, like a USB drive you'll have to navigate into your folders to play your music. This was what I threw in my car and it's been awesome!

I bet I know why you thought you could play audio through USB. It's because Apple products can do it. One of the things that drives me nuts is that most cars with USB ports have audio playback support for Apple devices because of Apple's dock interface that let's the docking component control and navigate the audio. Unfortunately (and it drives me crazy) Google hasn't created a similar interface for Android so there are no Android Docks. Android devices like the S4 in your car rely on on AUX to send audio. It really sucks and Google has committed to addressing it this year in the car but I don't know if they're fixing the underlying problem of a uniform audio interface in android; meaning one where you plug in a dock and it recognizes your phone and how to access your music and playlists. Again, Take a look at this if you need a quick fix. I know you were hoping your new stereo would do it, but you could easily hide this:

I don't understand, am I missing the post where u said u did this and it didn't work?
This is what u need to do... period. If this app won't work with your rom, find an app or place in the settings to enable "mass storage". The above linked app works for me and many others.
There are so many options that I don't know where to begin.
In fact, I'm rather lost as I can't really tell if a combination of tablet + car stereo will work for what I want to achieve.
Here's what I want to do:
I am using a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8" as a satnav with Sygic.
I currently have an old Pioneer car stereo which works perfectly fine for mp3 CDs and radio but I want to change it to a new unit that would accept a small USB drive as storage for my mp3's. I don't care if it will accept CD's or not (even better if it doesn't).
What I want is this new unit to allow me to play music or radio as normal and, when instructions come from the Sygic App (turn left, turn right etc) during navigation, to get the music interrupted and the instructions heard from the car's speakers. After the instructions are over, the music then start back automatically.
The only thing I managed to sort out is that, for this whole thing to work, both devices (tablet and car stereo) must support the A2DP protocol. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8" does indeed support A2DP for Bluetooth (according to specs) but I'm lost as far as car stereos are concerned.
Instead of looking the specs of every single car stereo available on the market today, I thought I would try asking here first.
Does anyone have anything similar working?
Thanks in advance

You may try the "Dynavin Car Stereo"
Lite. LitHi all,
I bought this morning a Pioneer MVH-S100UB radio receiver for my car. It has an USB connection for charging android phones and reading music, as well as controlling radio, music and more from your phone via the Pioneer ARC app.
I tried many times to connect my Huawei P9 Lite. The best I got was control of the radio from the app, and being able to pause/press next song from the Pioneer, but the sound was coming from my phone, never from the receiver.
I connected an other phone, HTC Desire 620, which was instantly recognized and launched the ARC Pioneer app (which doesn't happen with my Huawei). However, sound from HTC Desire to Pioneer is really bad, speeded or cut each second.
My main goal is to play music from my Huawei. Every time I connect the USB cable, I try to set the connection to MTP on the phone, but it instantly switches to charge only mode.
I tried different cables, MTP works on PC, but not on Pioneer app, i also tried USB debug mode, and switch USB connection to "audio source" via developper's options.
The fact that HTC Desire 620 is instantly recognized makes me think it's a Huawei related problem, as I have been able to see on several forum threads, including this one :https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/help/play-audio-usb-mate-8-t3324704/page5

Hi.
SAd that I don't have any answer
Could a root help me solve my issue ?
Hi everyone,
I'm having a problem that I think shouldn't happen on this phone.
I'm stock with the latest January update on Android 10.
Info: this problem was present before the update to 10.
Whenever I connect any Bluetooth device (airpods, car, moto intercom ,etc) I have to manually unpause the music to get it to start.
This happens on every player (Samsung Music, Google Play, YouTube premium, etc)
This is the first Android phone I have that doesn't do this and that shouldn't be seeing it's top tier.
I've looked online and it seems that all Samsung phones have this feature and the only topics I get are how to disable it !?
Can anyone shed some light ? Is it happening to you as well ?
Thanks
I may not have the answer that you want to hear but I did find a temporary solution. There's an app in the play store nRF Connect that works. Slide over to bonded, put devices in pairing mode and hit scan and wah lah. Any questions I'll do the best I can to help.
I've noticed the same on my galaxy buds, but when I connect another pair of wireless earbuds that i sometimes use they connect as soon as i turn them on when Bluetooth is activated, without me manually having to go into the settings and do it. Not sure the reason for this. Would've thought the earbuds that's actually made by Samsung would be the ones connecting right away.

Hej...
I don't if this would help You...
When I got the Note 10+ there's Was, out of the box on initial settings, active few Bixby Routines... and that, till i figure out this, was driving me crazy... When I turn Bixby Routines off everything back to normal...
Well I've had a similar problem. For me the issue is that it always autostart even tho I have BT autoplay unchecked in the car. If I have listen to any music, audio books, podcasts and turn them of when I exit the car, not leave them in the background, they will start playing even if the cars media system is offline.
Works perfectly with my wifes OnePlus 6, but not for me. Extreamly annoying to noticed that the audio book is playing after a 60min drive and I haven't heard anything..
I tried the app Tasker, it was a compleat waste of $4 for me anyway, didn't work, will try nRF Connect now.
I don't want to have BT of due to that I aways have my Jabra buds with me so that I can talk while driving if needed.
