searched for the moto camera for cm roms but could'nt find the latest one.
if i flash the old one i cannot update it from playstore, it says not compatible
so i made one for my self and sharing here. version3.2.14.4

how to install
download the flashable zip from the attachment .
install via custom recovery
tested on CM based roms
working except slow motion video capture.
not tested on OMNI and GPE devices. pls someone test it.

xt1033 on mokee lastest nightly (20140610) work fine.

AFAIK slow motion video is impossible on custom ROMs..

Works for me on latest cm11 nightly... Haven't tested other roms but should work.

This slow motion thing is related to camera HAL here http://source.android.com/devices/camera/camera.html
And moreover is proprietary of the motorola
Finally : if it was possible, our developers would have already done it.... but still I hope some day it can be ported

I flashed on GPE version and works but HDR can't get activated. Any suggestion ?

Same here. Successfully flashed on GPE but HDR is not working so it's not really worth using over the Google camera (which also lacks HDR on our device)

I just went back to non-GPE 4.4.4. Enjoying HDR now.

Sadly HDR works only with stock roms

There's an updated version of the app, with the exposition regulation on the focus 'thing'.
Guys, i need you to test a thing. See if the apps will update from play store. Because i found here a flashable zip that promised cam and gallery updating from store. So i used the zip and incremented my zip. Thx to @prashant13b for the amazing work. (Buy him a beer, plz...)

No you will have to reflash it every time you update the ROM ...
The gallery app doesnt flash. Only the camera flashes. Im on Moto G GPE 5.1. Please help. Desperately want the Gallery app..

Well i did get it to work. Ran out of system memory, which was not allowing the app to get copied in the /system folder. Deleted a few system app(google books,movies amd music) and it flashed like a charm.

No, you have to use stock Motorola ROM to have Slow motion recording available. This feature is probably buried somewhere at Motorola's framework. I also wanted slow motion recording, and found out that it doesn't work with any custom ROM, and that it doesn't work with stock GPE ROMs either. So again - only stock Motorola ROMs.

Thanks to @data365 for making it work in custom ROMs.
Stock camera hardly ever work on AOSP or any other custom rom which is not based on stock. At least libs are missing, could be even problem with the kernel.

Thanks for this but it's crashing everytime I swipe to look at pictures, when it asks for a permission and if I try to hit the home button.

Its a Moto z play xt1635-02 running xperience rom. They have a flashable zip on that thread that fixes the SD card permissions that I am going to try.

Ok, in a root explorer go to /system/framework and delete anything that says com.motorola at the beginning. It should work fine after that. I am running Moto Camera on the same rom your running, AOSP extended.
Also, don't worry if it says Motorola settings has crashed. Its a harmless bug, and if you want you can just rename the files with .bak at the end. Hope I could help!

After numerous attempts at editing the packages.xml permissions, I was still unable to get the to write to SD working. I baked it in to the priv-app in a new LOS 14.1 build and it's working fine now. Just in case anyone else has the same problem.

For example in the car,the picture will not be taken until I hold my phone very stable,using custom ROM's camera app.What can I do to make the camera save the photo regardless of current moving state of the phone.
To simulate this ,just move your phone fast with your hand while taking photos.
