Roll back protection is there but it's there to be a pain in the neck. You can easily rollback to Oreo via MiFlash after you unlock the BL. You're gonna have swapped SIMs after this though (probably SIM2 broken too) which can be fixed by flashing modem.img of Pie (keep BL unlocked if you do this). But this causes to video recording to break lol.

Damn that sounds bad, what if I roll back to Oreo and those things break, if I decide to go back to pie will they be fixed simply by flashing the pie rom?

You will come back to Pie without any problem. Through Ota or Miflash. I returned to Oreo a few days ago flashing 9.6.4 (fastboot oem EDL-> Miflash) and then Ota to 9.6.11 without any problems - everything working beautifully.

I do not know. I prophylactically used the options: 'fastboot oem EDL-> Miflash (deep flash)' and 9.6.4 -> ota 9.6.11 to avoid problems with the modem & etc.

Everything will go back to normal if you flash stock Pie rom. But it depends on what you call "normal". Pie itself has some connectivity issues, I suppose you didn't notice these issues, so for you it will go back to normal. Cheers.

-Mobile connectivity is worse, as far as I have noticed, because when I get out of the subway, Oreo quickly connects to 3g, whereas Pie connects to 2g first then after a while connects to 3g (although in settings only 3g is chosen, I don't use 4g).
-Gcams don't work, cant use the great hardware and cant take amazing pics without it.
-Battery life is a bit worse but it is supposed to get better with time because of "AI" and stuff lol.
-New recents interface doesn't seem to work as well and snappy as the Oreo one.
-It is a good daily driver if you don't care about Gcam and a bit of a hit on battery life/performance. :good:

im happy going back to oreo. the bad gcam autofocus alone was enough for me to rollback. you only lose fm radio, 1080p60 video recording, the little button to force screen rotation and the zoom when selecting text. (the switched sim too but i only use one).

Hi guys,
I have the mi Max 3 unlocked, with TWRP and rooted.
I have been running it with RevOS and now with GSI Havoc...
But there seems to be a real problem with the GPS ! It's super slow...
A fix takes about 30 seconds sometimes even more (in the same location, the Honor Note 10 fixes in 3/4 seconds).
And while I traval => "GPS connection lost" happens quite often and it also happens that I get "Searching for network".
Is there a "radio.img" or something like that that I may have to flash to improve things ?
Do you guys have the same when using GPS (like Waze) ?
Or is my device defective ? Should I try to reflash the global ROM for this ?
Thanks for your answers.
I use Xiaomi.EU Rom 8.11.15 (last Oreo updated), used Waze first time this morning and locked in incredibly fast.
Maybe down to the OS you are on?

Hi,
Thanks for your answer.
Maybe the OS. But now I am using Havoc OS Pie and I have the same problem Super slow fix : like 30 seconds and up to 1 or 2 minutes.
Will try to reinstall original MIUI stock but I fear to get a device with ARB protection (which I would like to avoid).
Regards.

What version are you on?
If you are MIUI 10, don't go below MIUI 10.
If you are on MIUI 9, like I was out of the box, 9.6.12, you cannot go down. anything above 9.6.8 has ARB really.
I got soft locked and I had to use MiFlash to restore Global ROM.
...or you just clean up the miui from all the ARB related sh*t before flashing it...
Hi guys,
Thanks for your answers...
Definitely ROM related.
I restored stock MIUI 9.8.6.0 (last official with no ARB) and Xiaomi.eu 8/8/9 (latest non official with no ARB) and with those, I got a GPS fix within seconds...
And that quick fix is reproductible...
So : there goes RevOS, which is a pity : it was superb and with lot of added customizations abilities...
Regards.

Hi,
Thanks for the link.
But I must say that I am a little anxious about that
First : it is unclear if I have to LEAVE the listed files in the FW-update folder or if I have to take ERASE those ;
Second : is it confirmed that if I do that, I won't have ARB on my device ? Because it seems that the author is just "speculating" about this and asks for confirmation...
So if you could provide a little more details, I'd be a taker
Regards.
Those are the files you should flash. All others not listed you delete along with the lines in updater-script/flash-all.bat. Haven't tested it myself b/c I don't care about MIUI and I only flash boot, system and vendor to test my stuff I work on. But later on I will have to test it b/c I will need vendor and firmware for my next project. So although not tested these files should be ARB safe, the rest of them removed are bootloader related where ARB resides. But with anything Xiaomi I can't be 100% sure until test it personally. What I can asure you is no ARB if you flash boot, system and vendor only...
Hey everyone, just got my 7T. I've heard great things about Oxygen, and it seems like everything is optimized. I'm just not sure where to go from here. I'm coming from a LeEco LE Pro 3, and the ROM path has been the only option (android 6 was the last official version for that phone, and we have 10 via ROM now). Is there any reason to try a different ROM on this phone? What about different kernels? Is there any good reason to leave stock? I'll definitely root my phone, but I'm not sure about the kernel/ROM changes.
I appreciate your input!

I like Oxygen very much and flashed arters kernel only for better battery life. I tried the custom ROMs too, but battery wasn't that good. If you are happy with Oxy stay on it. If you need some more feature, take a custom rom. It depends always on what you want and what you like.
I've always been an AOSP guy, but OOS on 7T is good. all you customization you need get be added through gravitybox, renovate ICE. Other than always on display, I don't see what aosp can offer on top of OOS. Last I tried, AOSP had some auto brightness and fingerprint issue. with OOS you still have face unlock which AOSP don't. you can also add horizon lights with renovate ICE.
You'll know if you will like OOS or not.
If you plan on going the ROM route, try Omni or Tresk. I'm currently running Tresk and it's excellent! Better battery than OOS, AOD, better theming, and overall cleaner "Google" interface.

Maybe with Stock OOS, but you will definitely get better battery results with OOS + arters kernel. Even idle drain is less with it. This time Oxygen is very hard to beat.
Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to stick to stock for now and try the custom kernel for better battery life.

I have not tried this combination. Too many deal breakers for me with OOS so I jumped quickly.
I advice you to flash OxygenOS Open beta 3. It's a bit more stable for my 7T.
OxygenOS already feels like a custom rom, so I don't really feel the need to flash 3rd party roms.

Flashing steps for OnePlus 7T:
(For the first time installation)
Things you will need:
Payload Dumper
https://t.me/treskmod/190469
Bat file that wipes and flashes to both sides on initial install
https://t.me/treskmod/195379
Current Stable HD65AA Firmware on both sides, it has been reported that BA (EU) firmware has issues with FP.
- local upgrade or flash OOS firmware to side A
- reboot to OOS
- local upgrade or flash OOS firmware to side B
- reboot to bootloader
- dump latest treskmod payload.bin using payload dumper
- place the bat file in your output directory, or wherever you decide to keep images
- run the bat (this will wipe, a wipe is necessary on initial installation coming from OOS, after that, just OTA)
the bat file can be modified to suit any particular need.
- reboot to treskmod and enjoy
- root
- either wait for me to to post a patched boot.img, which you can then "fastboot boot nameofimage.img" in fastboot mode, then patch your own, or just make your own patched boot with magisk manager. (make sure preserve avb and preserve encryption are both checked)
- when taking an OTA, once its finished, don't reboot, and have magisk patch the inactive slot, then reboot.

Hi, i want to know your opinion about best roms with android 12 for redmi note 8 pro. Clean rom with google apps.
I had POSP rom testing it's seems good but i missed few importand options like 3 fingers to ss.
I tried Pixel Experience rom ass well but that was terrifying, phone cannot take a screenshot, no face id option or even fingerprint scanner.
Spark-Os i think is best os i used, but dont have face id unlocking option.

You can flash to PE 12 directly from miui 12.5,
FYI, I installed the updated PE 12 and the devs have fixed major bugs but still i found
1. Netflix widevine issue(plays video in SDquality), No issues in prime video
2. Bluetooth range issues after 2 days
( i did ADB sideload, it worked perfectly, remember to wipe and format as mentioned in flashing instrcutions)
their recent update fixed screenshot issues, Unlimited google photos backup (check the changelog for more info)
Personally I wouldnt suggest you to go for Pixel A12 now, cuz the devs mentioned they are using MIUI 12.5 kernel and it has battery drain issue. Wait for the PE A12 plus which i hope might be better and much stable. I heard they scheduled PE plus A12 next month, not sure though!

If it's anything like with the switch from 11 to 12, the tools change too, and they aren't compatible with each other.
I already backed up to Google. That's all that I really need, I just really don't want to nuke my phone. I was hoping to be able to flash alongside C.62 so I can just switch slots to get back to OOS when I'm done tinkering.
I am pretty sure that my radio will not work (I have a global 9, it's single SIM, and when I tried COS12 I had to use a Magisk module to get my radio back) so being able to switch back easily would be nice.
EDIT: Yeah, there's no way I can convert without nuking. Going to be with my boyfriend this weekend, I'll mess with it on Sunday night when I get back. I'll have to downgrade to 11.2.8.8, upgrade to C.48, unlock the bootloader, convert to COS13, then hope that the Magisk module for OOS12/COS12 works on COS13 to get my radio working again.

I highly doubt anything will happen. There's no way to prove who leaked it because it's not like OnePlus is going around tagging individual OTA files and closed beta tests are dumb anyway. I get it for devices like the 10 Pro that don't have MSM Tools but all of us with the 9 series can recover pretty easily. This is not the first closed beta test that leaked and it undoubtedly won't be the last.

Ended up figuring it out.
I unlocked the bootloader and used Fastboot Enhance to flash directly from C.62 to F.03. I deleted the cow partitions to make enough room and just directly flashed the payload.bin. Worked perfectly.
Unfortunately, I was correct about the SIM issue. I did indeed have to root and flash the data fix patch to get data. Fortunately, the patch still works fine on COS13. You can even force enable 5G on T-Mobile using the Force 4G LTE app.
I have way too much stuff that I need from my Google backup that I can't restore to COS due to the lack of Google services at boot so I won't be able to daily drive it but it's looking pretty promising. Definitely noticed my phone was running on the warmer side as well though but that is to be expected.
I went ahead and flashed C.48, since that's the most recent full OTA available for NA 9s, over it using Fastboot Enhance (FBE has no qualms about upgrading and downgrading) and that also worked without an issue after I factory reset in fastbootd so if people are wanting to mess with it, they don't have to deal with the whole process of downgrading, flashing COS, then downgrading or MSM to get back.

Beware that you'll need the Magisk data retention fix on T-Mobile devices and that ColorOS has a lot of bloat. There are also issues with third party app notifications if you want them to wake the display. It ran pretty warm, battery was IDLING at 40C and the CPU was idling about 48~58C (because it doesn't really idle, it's always doing something). For comparison, my 9 running the India C.62 firmware right now is at 28C battery and idling about 30~31C on the CPU.
Also, to install it, you either need to be on C.47 or you need to use Fastboot Enhance (make sure to search the partitions for cow and delete every one of them or you'll brick and have to MSM) to flash over whatever else you're running.

Is there a way to googlefy Cos13?
Has any OnePlus 11 OxygenOs user tried to flash ColorOs via fastboot enhance ? Is there any issues ? Since I prefer a rooted OnePlus 11 experience it seems coloros one has much better support like properly getting memc support @120fps, 4K video recording @120fps and many more
I second this, seems like the oxygenos is more buggy and nerf in performance (for a cooler experience?). I can't even use the camera app directly from lockscreen as it keeps glitching and keeps screen brightness at minimum

Yes Coloros is overall better in performance than OxygenOs

Camera from lockscreen works fine. Either with double power button press or from the lockscreen camera shortcut.
No issues with screen brightness at all.

this is a guy who does it. https://t.me/xiaomi_vn
same way as cos to oos only you use a cos pack and flash it
Or use the coloros full pack and flash the payload.bin with fbe over fastboot/fastbootd
